The combo pho is my favorite. There is free parking. Not your swankiest pho joint but it's amazing and delicious. No frills. I also recommend the rice plates with the pork. Probably the best Pho and Bun Bo Hue you can get in White Center. Their Com Tam plates and vermicelli bowls are pretty tasty too. Fried egg rolls are great but wouldn't order their pork patty spring rolls again. The servers are always friendly and some even remember your orders. What we ordered: Combo Appetizer Rolls - It was good, not great. Dipping sauces were good, its served with a peanut sauce and a vinegar fish sauce one too. It had 2 different fresh rolls and an egg roll. Chicken Teriyaki- it was good, rice good, salad good, they put too much dressing on it though Combo Pho- good fragrant broth, served nice and hot, my husband loves their pho, im not too big on pho Bun Bo Hue- broth okay, it was mild, tasted almost like the pho broth but with lemongrass and a little bit of chili. It was not as red as Hung Long Deli & Pho's bun bo hue. The noodles were way overcooked, i didnt even have to chew it. It would just crush mushy in my mouth. So it was pretty gross. Had the noodles been cooked perfectly, not over cooked like it was, i wouldve enjoyed it. But the bun bo hue needed more fish sauce and more shrimp paste. It wasnt bun bo hue-y enough, needed more flavor. I wouldnt come back. Overall, i thought service was awkward. Food okay. Just felt like another vietnamese restaurant, nothing that wow'd me. The guy that took our order gave us a weird presence...like...an, 'okay...What do you want?' Kind of vibe, didnt really say much. So i felt awkward to ask for things. I prefer eating at low key spots when it comes to ethnic food. That's when you know you're going to get the real deal. Ambiance - a previous reviewer called this spot "dingy" but it really isn't. It isn't fancy but it's clean (even the bathroom was clean!), spacious and simple. Service - friendly and quick. They made you feel like fam. Food - fantastic! Ordered the egg rolls, rice & chicken and noodles and pork chop. Food in Seattle is overly salty at a lot of places. But this restaurant uses just enough. me and my mom came here for the first time and first of all they weren't welcoming at all. we got our food and when we' were ready to pay they just assumed i wanted to tip 15% and when i asked about it they said it was a rule and when i said i didn't want to they refused to change it. after we left they started yelling at us very loudly and overall this place was TERRIBLE. the service was trash and the food wasn't even good anyways, the broth had barely any flavor. My favorite pho in town hands down!!! It's always a plus when they know your name and your order by heart. Their pho broth is so rich and full not like some other places I have been to. Even though I had Vietnamese last night, I was still craving a classic beef pho, and that's exactly what I got at Pho 99! It's definitely a no frills type place, and that also, to me, is a classic element of an authentic pho experience, but in general, this spot is clean and approachable. The service was responsive, and dishes came out with perfect timing. I ended up getting the Rare Steak and regular (non-fatty) Brisket Pho, the Combo Appetizer, and a Thai Iced Tea - no tapioca pearls. The Thai iced tea and appetizer came out quickly. I drank the tea in about 3 seconds, like I always do; the flavor was good, probably not the best Thai Tea on the planet, but cold and sweet, and I pretty much just really like Thai iced tea!! Moving on.. The combo app was three rolls, two spring one egg. There was the traditional shrimp and pork spring roll, and the other was with Vietnamese sausage, both had the standard greens and veggies. The fried egg roll was really good as well, and all 3 were gone in seconds. The warm peanut sauce, and a perfectly decent fish sauce, were also nice. As I finished my appetizer, the soup came out. Steak and Brisket are my go to meat choices for pho bo, and there was a good amount of both! The broth was flavorful, especially so after I doctored it up a bit with basil, lime, and jalapeño. I mix hoisin and sambal on the side (just ask for the little cup) and dab some of the spicy-sweet mixture on my bites of noodle and meat. They have a particularly tasty hot chili oil/paste available, but it wasn't on every table, so keep your eye out; I ate about a half a jar of it! Yum. I just had a very hard time getting over how DIRTY this place was. I have ordered from many other pho restaurant before and ordered from pho 99 many times, however, today I'm pretty upset, I ordered 3 large size pho and they give me a small size pho soup contains without mentioning anything until I got home and called them up. Their response to me was they ran out of large containers so they fill up the soup in the small container! The owner even said many customers have called regarding this confusion but he didn't bother to tell me when I call in the order. Considering that Pho 99 up on Aurora and 200th is my faaaaaavorite pho place, THIS Pho 99 was going to have to be pretty spectacular to live up to my expectations solely based on the name itself! And it did a pretty great job!!! After seeing that I could add quail eggs for a dollah bill, I decided to spruce up my pho a little bit and have a quail egg (or four). The pho was amazing, but the quail eggs were a little too adventurous for a weenie like me . . . . The pho was great though! The broth was rich and a little more fatty than I'm used to, but it just added another layer of comfort. The meat wasn't rubbery or tough, so that was delightful too. I have been a loyal customer of Pho 99 for approximately ten years now. Wowza!! Even when I lived up in North Seattle, I still made the drive down to eat a steaming hot delicious bowl of Pho on a weekly basis. The location might be considered 'less than desirable' to some, but hey, who cares as long as the food is tasty! The restaurant is not spic and span clean, but clean enough for my standards. I have come to the realization that when a Pho restaurant is super clean and appealing to the eye, the Pho is always disappointing. So rule of thumb: super clean modern Pho joints = disappointing tasting Pho which is usually couple dollars more per bowl, NOT cool! I usually always order Pho, small number 9 to be exact. The broth is rich and flavorful, but not overpowering or too greasy. It comes with a good amount of meat and noodles. I have also tried the beef stew with noodles and/or bread. I think its tastes OK, just too greasy for my liking. Their rice dishes are not too shabby either. My only complaint would be the spring rolls because every time I order it, they make it so skinny and small! I also appreciate the fact that the workers know my order exactly the way I want it. I am particular about my Pho and a lot of other restaurants seem to get my order wrong (perhaps its the language barrier), but not here! When I start to order: Kay: Small number 9.... Worker: ...with no cilantro, but everything else. Extra lime. Steamed bean sprouts. Side of onions in vinegar. Ice water. Anything else? Kay: *Super cheesy smile* Nope that's it! Thank you! "Worth a Try" Pho 99 reminds me of the little Pho shops that existed before Pho turned into a commodity like Teriyaki. People it's not ok to boil some beef bones for an hour and say hey this is Pho. The broth here is better than most places. It taste like it's actually created with some care and Vietnamese lovin'. It's definitely not packaged like many of the chain Restaurant. This isn't the best Pho place around, but it is better than most. My favorite thing about this restaurant was finding the bathroom. It's like a labyrinth in the back.
