i have heard of Philz coffee from my friends & co workers and have always been intrigued to try their coffees. i always see the coffee shop when driving pass the Americana. i was in the Glendale area yesterday and decided to finally give them a try. I always liked Philz, and I still do! The Philtered Soul is my all-time favorite drink at Philz. I usually order the hot one, but this time I tried iced called the Honey Haze... omg, I loved it. It was perfect on a warm day! Medium sugar, medium creamer, in a large cup with a dash of honey made it perfect. It's probably one of the smoothest I've had at Philz. Other drinks I've had is their Mint Mojito, which is obviously minty, but still good. For that one, I would need to have full-scale sugar in it and more cream while the baristas prepare it. I've tried their other plain cold brews and some tea(s) as well. No biggie, in my opinion. Because it's comparable to any other coffee places. But do try their specialized drinks. I'm quite sure you will enjoy them. Everybody working at this location was very nice. It's medium roast so definitely lighter than my usual coffee so if you're like and love a good dark coffee, go for their darker roasts. It was a bit cold inside so bring a light sweater. Philz is one of my favorite place for coffee! I always come here whenever I'm at the Americana to shop. My go to before was the mint mojito, but my new favorite is the iced coffee rose. Nice sweetness, creamy, and a light coffee taste. I also got to try the Mission iced coffee and this has a stronger coffee taste since it's a cold brew. The last time I had Philz Coffee was 10 years ago, somewhere in San Francisco. Back then, I wasn't the self-proclaimed coffee snob that I am now, but I'm much more into coffee now. I ordered the same drink I ordered a decade ago for a fresh perspective, the mint mojito. Back then, coffee was icky to me. I was delighted to discover that their drinks are affordably priced (I believe a large was $5.75) compared to other coffee shops that I've been to. I took my first sip of the mint mojito, and I didn't expect a strong mint flavor - rather a hint. I LOVE mint, and this got me into the study mood quickly. The coffee was there, but it was supported by a sweet, milky foam taste and texture so well that I didn't taste any bitterness. As someone who is picky with tastes and textures and rarely considers returning to the same coffee shop, this easily won my heart and more future trips. My only disappointments with Philz Coffee here are the parking (atrocious to say the least), the long wait time (~20mins), and the lid. I wish I knew to download the app and grab and knew to go my coffee. The line moves at a snail's pace, but there isn't quite adequate room in the back for an extra 1-2 staff members. The lid... be careful of the lid because it isn't always on snugly and may lead to spillage in the car if not careful. There are so many coffee shops in the Glendale area, yet this is the only one that serves good coffee. I won't go to any other coffee spot when I'm in town. There's usually a bit of a wait here, but it 's completely worth it. I've tried a few of their coffee's already and have yet to get one I didn't like. The flavors are just so well balanced. They also offer quite a few treats. The crookie is probably my favorite. Philz has an open concept and is spacious. I used to frequent the original Philz Coffee in San Francisco, so I was so happy to see a new cafe in Glendale. The quality is still on point albeit in a more corporate feeling storefront. The original Philz was pretty grungy and laid back in a quaint sort of way, which this store is not. The two negatives were 1) the stinky/dirty restroom and 2) the metered public parking. If you park at a nearby garage about a block away, you can get 2 hours of free parking. I saw several people avoid paying for parking, by having a driver "load" while a passenger grabs the coffee. read more
