Came here for a coffee run with my friend and her cousin. Her cousin lives in the area and recommended this spot for a nice morning coffee. I liked their pastry options and almost decided to get a Cheddar Biscuit. Their breakfast menu also has a good amount of options such as their tacos. I'm being generous with my rating only because it's such a cute convenient place and the baked goods are good. Brisket burrito was sour, like lemony sour probably from the pico. Definitely not a flavor I was expecting with meat and eggs. Unfortunately had to throw away mid bite because there were egg shells in there. Coffee- again SOUR. Asked and payed for 3 extra shots for it to come out looking like milk. Thankfully the guy added another shot. I really hate to do this but enough is enough. I come here because I study, I come here because this is my neighborhood, I come here because it's always buzzing with my friends and acquaintances and it's nice to run into everyone while grabbing something to enjoy. The coffee is SUBPAR though, so my go-to is just hot tea. Nothing special. The food is a complete hit or miss. Some days it's great..other days not so much. I come back in hopes for the goodness. The service is REALLY what I have a problem with. As someone mentioned in another review, it feels like you're bothering them when you get to the register to order. The employees rarely look up, rarely acknowledge that I'm standing there waiting. They literally act like they're on island time, a simple "I'll be right with you" goes a loooong way. Also, I'll NEVER forget the one time that rude employee literally lied to my face when I walked in early in the morning for a study session and the music was BLASTED (to get them pumped, to get them going...I get it) but I asked him to please lower it just a little bit and he straight up said "we can't do that, it's just this volume." Bro, I was there at least 4 times a week. That's NOT how loud your volume is. I'm a PAYING CUSTOMER, who usually gets food too so at minimum I'm spending about $20+ , maybe consider that next time you treat me with disrespect. read more

If you're trying to focus and have a study/work session try somewhere else. I've visited this spot a few times and don't have many great things to say! The energy in this cafe feels charged like a high school cafeteria, the staff set such a weird uninviting vibe and makes you feel like you're interrupting them when trying to place an order. During my most recent visit I came on a weekday afternoon to get some work done and I sat at the bar. The atmosphere would've been chill because most people were there to do the same .. except the employees were almost yelling to each other telling stories and gossiping about previous customers. Had the golden milk and a burrito i think it was braised beef. This is a common hangout spot and wfh spot ig for people in the area, lots of big groups so seating can be an issue. The chips were extremely good. The buritto however was very salty and wet. Idk what i was expecting golden milk to be but i wish i tried coffee instead. I might be back to try another drink (and perhaps munch on some chip) but the customer pool here seems a bit hostile and unbothered by taking up a lot of space. Staff was friendly and efficient! No wi-fi password needed here for working remotely which made it much easier for me to plug in after ordering a vanilla latte and a Lil burrito! Coffee Commissary is your cute typical neighborhood cafe. The vibe is stylish yet relaxed with plenty of seating inside and outside. They have brunch food, pastry options and coffee. I really enjoyed the coffee here. It's smooth, well-made, and it's obvious that a great deal of care goes into both their sourcing. That said, I'm not a fan of the brunch options, the tater tots were very good but the brisket burrito didn't hit it for me. It salsa they used felt to acidic and ruined the burrito. Visited: 1/27/26 Parking: This place has no designated parking lot, and street parking is pretty limited, so keep that in mind before you go. I ended up parking a few blocks away and walking about four minutes to get there. Atmosphere: They offer seasonal menu items each month, which is a fun touch and gives you something new to try if you visit often. The shop itself is very popular and gets crowded, so expect some noise and possibly a short wait for your order, although the line moved fairly quickly when I went. They do have Wi-Fi, so it can still work as a study spot. One thing to note is that the music inside is very loud. I couldn't hear my name being called when my drink was ready, so I didn't pick it up in time. Either it was tossed or someone else grabbed it, but the staff kindly made me a new matcha latte, which I really appreciated. If you plan to study or need a quieter environment, you will probably want noise-canceling headphones. The booth I sat at had an outlet, but it did not work at all. It might have just been that specific one, but it is something to keep in mind if you need to charge your devices. Utensils: There is a self-serve utensil station with metal spoons and forks as well as plastic ones. They also have cup lids, straws, napkins, and a designated bin for used utensils, which was very convenient and well organized. Order: Smoked Salmon Toast ($15): 8.5/10 It came with a generous amount of toppings, so even though the price is on the higher side, it felt slightly worth it because of how loaded it was. Matcha Latte ($7): 8/10 It was really good and exactly what I needed for my study session. The latte art on top was also a nice touch! You can get it iced or hot, but I ordered it hot. That probably enhanced the flavor, so I would need to try the iced version to really judge the quality of the matcha. Bathroom: The bathroom requires a code, so you just have to ask the staff. The grilled cheese sandwich is amazing--it plays like a brilliant American diner take on a Japanese egg sando. The egg is incredibly fluffy, making for a truly delicious dish. So much charm and flavor at this cafe! Hidden in Kenneth village, this was such a great find! A few things that set them apart, is how fresh everything seemed. I mean, the whole place smelled like the fresh churro buns! They called everyone by name- they remember all their customers! I recently visited Commissary Coffee and overall it was just okay. The shop itself has a nice atmosphere and a good location, but the coffee was a bit watery and didn't have the strong flavor I was expecting. For the price, I honestly expected better quality. My friend and I ordered the Mocha Latte, I had mine iced and my friend got it hot. They served the drinks fairly quick. Coffee commissary is what you would imagine a coffee shop in LA to be. The Glendale location is in an old town area of small shops. The shop is really hip, with very fashionable people. One thing I like about this place is ample seating both outside and inside. It is a cool place to get some work done or get something to eat & drink coffee. I mainly came here to try the breakfast burritos and get my coffee fix. One cool thing is you can get breakfast in the pm. I got the brisket burrito, I would say about 4.5 stars. I liked the rub of the brisket that gives it flavor, you could go without salsa if you really wanted to. The tortilla chips that come with it are delicious and fresh. This place breaks the mold as far as coffee shops having good food. Few coffee shops can pull it, but Coffee Commissary does. Now for the coffee how good is it? I would say not top tier best of LA good, but good. I had a Cubano cinnamon latte, which was good. My wife had a Vanilla latte which, taste more like a sweet latte. Overall I think it's a four to five star place depending upon how picky you are when it comes to coffee. My boyfriend stumbled upon this gem of a coffee shop one morning and was so excited to take me. Parking gets a little dense depending on what time you go-- weekend morning's... good luck! We typically park across the street in the parking lot next to the bakery. There's typically a line out the door (expected because this place has amazing coffee and breakfast items!) the line moves fairly quickly and the wait for your order will take from 5-15 minutes depending on how busy it is. This cute hipster coffee shop has seating areas but be prepared to possibly sit outdoors. It can get crowded! That's the only downfall about this place. Even on busy weekend mornings the wait is worth it!! I usually get an iced American, amazing flavor without tasting watered down. My boyfriend always gets the Chai Latte, it has the perfect amount of spiced flavor. On the weekends before 3pm they serve the best Brisket Hash, me and my boyfriend share the bowl! I ordered an iced Matcha latte, and usually it's good and vibrant green but this last time I ordered the matcha looked like a chai. I even asked them what it was bc the color was so off but it looks like they were using matcha that was old and oxidized so it was no longer the green color it naturally is but instead a dull creamish color. I didn't let myself judge it on the color but once I tasted it, it was so gross. I couldn't drink it and ended up throwing it away. I ordered the avocado toast. The bread was nicely toasted. It had the crunch on the outside and it was soft inside. The toast itself tasted earthy and healthy. It had arugula on top of the avocado. By not adding salt and pepper, it tasted delicious when you are controlling your salt intake for high blood pressure. The service was warm and friendly. They made sure that my order was correct. The ambiance is very Metro and clean. It has street parking for 2hours on the weekend. Make sure your cars have both plates on especially on your tesla. You will be ticketed if you don't.
