We come here whenever we're in Eureka. Being originally from Philly, where I once worked in a cheesesteak and pizza place, I miss real cheesesteaks and this is the most authentic one I've had anywhere on the west coast. I was never a fan of the whiz cheesesteaks and would say to the other yelper and anyone else unhappy about "food from a can," that they should try one with white American or provolone. My favorite is the pizza steak made with provolone and marinara sauce. It's interesting to read reviews that claim that the sandwich is too big or too small. My experience in Philly is that most are bigger than these, but I do appreciate the regular size here as I can finish it (although if I were being smart and making healthier choices, I really should just order the small!) The fries were just okay. The cheese fries here have cheese whiz so I didn't order them, but many places in Philly make a cheese sauce (if you've ever been to Chickie's and Pete's you've had this) or slices of white American melted over them--both of these options are better than cheese whiz. Don't let anyone tell you that Cheesewhiz is necessary for an authentic experience. Just like other regional foods like chili or gumbo, there are many variations on the cheesesteak. I would say the simpler--cheese, steak, onions maybe, and a (preferably Amoroso) roll is the more authentic route. While mushrooms, peppers, and other toppings might be good, I think the plain cheesesteak is probably most popular in Philly. That said, I always want marinara with it and maybe a toasted roll. read more

Great check in deal. The philly fries are absurd. It's great fries with great tasting meat. Need I say more...Got ours with mushrooms and they are awesome! Food was hot, breads not soggy, it all tastes great! Definitely recommend stopping in if you're looking for inexpensive great food. Perfect place for the frugal road tripper heading thru on PCH. As I am driving through Eureka on Hwy 101 with no plans whatsoever on stopping, I am stuck in slow traffic, and what do I see to my right, could it be? An actual Philly Cheese Steak...Shoppe? It's almost my life's mission to find the best west of the Mississippi, so I immediately turn into the next driveway (Taco Bell), it's impossible to get back over via car, so I park and walk over. I ordered the "classic philly" and it was amazing and perfectly delicious, though I should have ordered the smaller version, I happily had my leftovers the next morning for breakfast! The price is maybe a little high for a sandwich, but I got two meals out of it and I am very glad I stopped. I don't plan on ever being in Eureka again, but if I am I will seek out the Philly Cheese Steak Shoppe! read more

We got the plain cheesy steak and added jalapeños and the sandwiches were amazing! Also got the coleslaw and onion rings which were perfect. I loved my sandwich. I got the classic with onions. The sandwich was hot and made fresh. The restaurant is a little scary looking on the outside and is definitely old inside. Despite being old the restaurant seemed clean. Bottom line, I loved the philly cheese steak sandwich, I want another one now that I am thinking about it while writing this review. Absolutely love this place. Amazing cheese steaks. I get mine with grilled mushrooms and onions. Bread is always fresh and soft. Perfect amount of meat and cheese. I love their onion rings. Straight up bullsh.t. I paid 13 dollars and change for a double cheese steak sandwich and a coleslaw and got a sandwich that was about the size of a pack of Marlboro Lights. So ridiculous. The most ripped off I've felt at a restaurant in recent memory. Never going back again. read more

I've been here a couple times and this might be my last. I ordered a turkey bacon ranch hoagie and was really disappointed. The sandwich was the lightest weight I've ever had in my life, super skimpy on the meat, couldn't find the cheese, and way too much bread for the meager contents provided. I ate it anyway because I was hungry, but now am gonna just eat some food from home because it didn't satisfy my hunger. The flavor was ok, not amazing, a bit bland but it wasn't terrible. My friend got a cheesesteak, which looked good, although incredibly messy for the wrapper they put on it. Also bland flavor. The portion size was good, but it was honestly too expensive for the quality offered. I would give 1 star, but the cashier was friendly which is always important to me. Overall their prices just don't match the quantity and quality of food provided. It's a bummer because I really want to like this place, but instead feel like I wasted my money. read more

Wish I could put negative stars . Bought a classic philly combo it came with literally 10 fries and enough meat to cover half the bread. & I paid 12 dollars for this. I actually complained & the captain douchebag behind the counter told me it was portioned out. I told him he grabbed the wrong portion maybe the portion for the junior cheese steaks. He told me no. That didn't happen & the only thing he could do was give me 10% off next time. To which I replied no thank you I won't be returning. This place sucks don't go here. I ordered the original, which was excellent! The meat has no fat, cooked very well and cheese melted perfect. For 4 sandwiches, 4 drinks and 4 fries, was $62.00. A little pricey for the portion, would definitely go back, but get just the sandwiches. read more

Visited here a month ago during a trip around this area. I fell in love. They have non GMO soy so vegans can enjoy as well. Will always visit when I am in the area.
