Roast beef cheddar cheese and a savory BBQ sauce lettuce, tomato, sliced, thin, red onions they would make it anyway you would like I asked it to be a little spicy and they did a great job. The Reuben sandwich on marbled rye mile high pastrami, and sauerkraut Russian dressing lightly toasted. The service was excellent very helpful and friendly. Go next door to Dave's have a drink and they will bring your food over. Picked up a Joe's Spice Girl sandwich as is. Bread was superb, light, and fresh. Pastrami tasted wonderful. The pepperjack, spicy mayo, and veggies were all absolutely on point! The place itself is rather small with a couple of tables and a bench. They aren't much for the dine in type. Service was lightning quick. Quick and friendly service + amazing food! There's a few small tables to eat at. The big menu had a bunch to offer, was hard to decide but the amazing staff helped us out. People are sleeping on their breakfast sandwiches because they are probably the best in Eureka. The prices are fair too. As far as sandwiches I also prefer their quality over the other spots in town. They have a super cute sandwich nook perfect for people watching out the window. Seems like they always have fresh bread and slice their meats/cheeses/veggies daily by using this super old school slicer. I haven't seen any other sandwich spots around town that freshly slice their ingredients like The Grotto does! Apparently under new ownership and it is like night and day unfortunately. As you can see from my photos the Reuben the prior owner made and the Reuben the current owner makes. The price of the sandwiches in the past was acceptable because of the quality and love that was put into them. Prices haven't changed under new ownership but the quality has. It was basically some deli meat and a slice of cheese between 2 slices of sandwich bread with a very conservative amount of toppings. Didn't detect any Russian dressing. Not toasted or warm. Extremely disappointing as this was the best sandwich shop around. 2 stars for keeping the menu the same and the new owner being nice. That said, I don't think I'll be back. read more

So glad I stopped in yesterday for lunch. It was hard to decide which tempting sandwich to try, but ultimately ordered Linda's Beef Club. Great choice! The roast beef was tender and delicious. After going here for years (loved The Grotto when Paula owned it and when it was Deo's before that), it has gone downhill. My sandwich was not anything to rave about as I see in some reviews. The bread was dry; it tasted old, and the sandwich was skimpy and bland, unlike all sandwiches I enjoyed in the past when it was Deo's and the delicious sandwiches I loved when Paula owned this sandwich shop. This is under new management. Maybe some bad reviews will make them think twice and get them to be more on the ball. It was a huge disappointment to say the least. I will not be back. read more

I went because I heard that they give a free sandwich for your birthday so I stopped to visit! I got Linda's beef club and it was so good! The ladies in there were so nice to me and wrote me a sweet note. I'd definitely head there again. The price may seem pricy but I got so full from the sub.
