I was visiting friends in the area and stopped by the market for a few things. It seems big enough to have everything you might need in a supermarket. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped me with what I needed. If I lived in Eureka, this is where I would shop. read more

I am REALLY disappointed by my most recent experience with Murphy's! Once again, it centers on a crab sandwich. I was in town and craving crab, so I called in an order for Mom and I. The woman taking the order asked what kind of bread, we said sourdough. She said sliced or roll, so she clearly heard my answer. When I got there, I was flung two sandwiches from the case. I took them home and they were nothing more than plain crab on regular wheat bread. Wrong bread, no mayo, no seasoning, no tomato, nothing. The most indifferent meal I've ever had for $24/ea. I noticed that picked crab was in the case for $69.99/lb. Even if the sandwiches had a quarter pound of crab apiece (which they didn't) the price wasn't justified by the product. read more

EBT users beware: Murphy's cashier asked me if I was paying w/cash or debit, I said "EBT" and he let out a groan, then proceeded to tell me that their system doesn't accept EBT and I should use cash or debit, but if I wanted to "try my luck" I could run my card. My EBT card went through just fine. Treating people with EBT as if they are inconveniencing you is beyond rude. read more

I like this store, aside from the fact that it is on the pricy side. However, today I went in on my 30 minute lunch break to get a pre-made sandwich. I asked if it came with sauce on it as I hate hate haaate mustard and the deli lady assured me it only had a tiny bit of mayo on it. $9 and half my lunch break later, I notice it has mustard on it. Now I am stuck with this sandwich and no time to go back to get anything else. I know it isn't their fault that I don't like it, but it would be nice if they at least knew what was on the stuff before telling people. read more

I ordered the chicken salad from the deli. The ingredients listed were chicken breast, mayonnaise, red onion, and celery. I took my first bite and spit it back out immediately! It tasted VERY SWEET! Like it had 1/4 cup of sugar added to only my serving! It was a horrible surprise and I cannot figure out if this was a mistake or if this is what they are purposefully serving. But, if it is purposeful, it is awful! It would be wonderful if only they used the ingredients listed but unfortunately, I was not looking to have "candied chicken salad" for lunch, and I highly doubt many others will be looking for that either! read more

Since my last update, I happened by one of the cashiers around town and they informed me they're no longer putting the plastic on the donuts! I went back, and she was right! Overpriced, and OMG the roast beef hot pack is ridiculously over cooked. Dammit I'm so mad at myself. I got it once before and it was awful but the flavor was great so I chalked it up to a fluke. Went in yesterday and initially said nope and got chicken thighs instead. I circled the store for other items and decided to get the beef. Got home and ended up spitting out the first five bites because I couldn't chew them. I tossed the entire $11 meal. Sad for my wasted money and sad for the wasted animal. Been coming here for years. Check expirations on items before you buy, a lot is close to or passed expiration. Deli is probably the best part of this place. Unfortunately they recently changed there chicken strips and they are now cheap and not that great anymore. read more

The store is clean the clerks are very friendly, but their prices are 2 to 3 times higher than any other store. I only shop there when I'm missing an ingredient because they are the closest store. They own several stores so I don't understand why they charge so much money. read more

This place is great! They have all sorts of high quality foods you would find at a place like Whole Foods but at reasonable prices. Looking for Gluten Free options? They have it. Looking for Fiji water? They have that too. Looking for an amazing selection of beautiful produce..look no further. Also their selection of meats can't be beat. This truly is the only place to shop if you want to eat healthy. Dont even think of comparing this place to a store like Safeway, its a totally different type of grocer. I would never shop anywhere else for groceries when in the Eureka area, and you shouldn't either. read more

I live nearby so this is my neighborhood grocery spot. Come here at least 4x a week for groceries. Staff is generally friendly, they usually have what I need & it's pretty convenient. Store is clean & consistent with in stock items. I like that they carry local & organic products. Prices on some items can be a bit high but I don't mind paying a little more for not having to go to Winco. read more

I have to give this 1 star but really it should be 0 stars. It's amazing that a Local Mom & Pop grocery store does not offer ANY type of accommodations for a handicapped/disabled person to shop at their store. To not offer an electric cart or even a chair to someone who is CLEARLY VISIBLE having issues walking or standing at the deli waiting for their deli order to be complete and not even be offered a chair to sit on when asked. Then, to top it off being met by 5 different Nonchalant "IDGAF" employees is completely unforgivable. I just moved to the area. I literally live across the street and would shop here exclusively. But after the experience I had tonight I will NEVER step foot in another Murphy's. They have lost my business. It's a shame. I grew up at my Parents Market in the Bay Area (and there is only 1-not a chain) and even in 1983 they accommodated any person with a disability! I am being forced to go to Safeway. At least I will be paying a slightly less price for basically the same product. I am in the mindset after this experience to report them for violating the American's with Disabilities Act. read more

Murphy's is a localish chain to the far-northern California coast regions. They're competitively priced with the primary supermarkets, and carry a wide variety of local and boutique products catering to the liberalism tendencies of their local clientele. This particular Murphy's is nice because they lean toward accessible, non-garbage breakfast items for the 9 to 5ers... A target group often forgotten in a region that sees a huge proportion of shoppers utilizing 'green-machine' (pot farming) money at all hours of the day. The workers are helpful and nice. The store is clean. There is always ample parking out front. I enjoy this neighborhood, and this store is the hub upon which it revolves. read more

Murphy's is good for the basics. It appears anyone with money in Cutten doesn't shop here. This is a working class store. People watching is top notch. Lot's of camouflage and sleeveless t-shirts, Honey Boo Boo kids, odd balls, old folks, and me. The deli gets your sandwich order wrong about 1 in 4 times but that's ok. read more

Their website makes it out that they have a great meat selection and that they make excellent sandwiches. Neither of these are true. The steak was the lowest grade, Select, and tough. The sandwiches are huge and sucked. They must use the most inexpensive cheese in the world. I feel dirty just thinking about it. read more

Like the store. The sandwich ingredients are delicious and fresh tasting and the sandwich makers do a wonderful job but the bread needs work. No matter what type of bread I get it's super dry. I dunno how you store it but id be getting 2 or three times the amount of sandwiches if the bread wasn't always dried out. read more

The deli here is the best! I personally order sandwiches, bagels made to order, cranberry broccoli salad, etc. all the time. I also order trays of pre-made sandwiches regularly for a lunch group I facilitate through my work. The deli manager, Heather, is awesome. She definitely knows what she is doing. Great customer service, great food, always ready on time. I also usually order fruit salad and cookies for the group. One time I ordered lunch for the group from somewhere else to try to change it up. That's the last time I'll do that! I received many requests to go back to ordering lunch from Murphys Cutten. :) read more

Very professional and the employees keep that store spotless. its a great feeling to have such a nice relationship with my local market.
