Best sandwich in Humboldt County! Amazing sandwiches. I had their Dutch crunch roll with garlic turkey ,pepper jack cheese and she heated it up then added Mayo Lettuce tomatoes black olives and pepperoncinis. Far better then any place in Humboldt ever had a sandwich and I have has some great sandwiches in Humboldt. Trust me on this! Go get a sandwich! read more

Myself and my coworkers work in this area pretty often and would usually park in their parking lot after gassing up and getting some food to boot up our computers (we are field based) and had no problem until lately. I got lunch here (sandwich wrap) and pretty soon after I finished my meal I became violently ill and also needed to use the restroom. I had used it earlier that day before I got lunch and the cashier was incredibly rude to me about using it again and refused when I asked for the key so that wasn't cool especially when it was probably their food that made me sick. Soon after this happened one of my coworkers was told we aren't allowed to park in their parking lot anymore even if we are purchasing gas or food there. Buyer beware!!! read more

This is family owned market is unique in that, in addition to the expected cold drinks, snacks and staples, there is a cafe with a separate area for sitting and enjoying your treats, a deli, and an icecream counter! There are also some unique antique shop type items, firewood and fertilizer! On her way home, from camping at Grizzley Creek, our daughter, Stormy, made use of the icecream counter and got 2 scoops in a waffle cone. She informed me this market deserves 5 stars! read more

This is an oasis in an area of rural small towns on the edge of the Redwood. In an area of no stores, no Verizon cell service, and little other services such as fuel. They are a small grocery, gas station, and coffee shop. Expect higher prices but it more than compensated for driving somewhere further. The market is well equipped with about any food items, just in smaller packing. Canned goods, fresh veggies, a small deli, meat, etc. They also have WiFi and a small cafe sitting area. The coffee shop serves up latte's or other custom brews with Humboldt Roaster coffee. It blows away the big name coffee shop. Sit and sip your favorite coffee in their cafe area while enjoying their free WiFi. I was camping in the area about 10 miles away. I made it a daily trip. Both for the coffee and to attend to business I had to do on the Internet. read more

This summer, instead of driving my family across the country like Clark W. Griswold, I took the Wifenkids to Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park, a smallish enclave of old growth redwoods off highway 36 in the general vicinity of Eureka. Between the 101 and the park is the small town of Hydesville, a charming collection of modest houses on large acreage, dairy farms, and a two lane highway wrapped on each side by wild anise and huckleberry bushes. In the middle of town is the Murrish Market. On this and previous trips to the Van Duzen River valley, this Market has been a lifesaver for purchasing milk, bread, beer, Twizzlers... You know, the essentials :). Last-chance gas is only a few pennies more than the best price in Fortuna five miles away, so it sort of evens out. The Market is surprisingly well stocked with a lot of items in a small space. Seasonal items are sold from a cart near the register, and beer specials made me load up (c'mon, don't judge... I was on vacation.) as a bonus, they have a sandwich counter, block ice, and a clean restroom. I also took a few free newspaper publications from the front end... Nothing gets a campfire going like free newsprint. On one of my trips there during our vacation, the checker lady accidentally double charged me for an item. Upon returning a half hour later, she kindly fixed the error... Without a receipt. Try that with a twelver of beer at Safeway in Fortuna. Nice people, convenient location, beautiful country... It's worth a stop. To anyone who believes others have bad attitudes, I encourage you to apply the adage "Kill em with kindness." I've never met nicer people than the staff at Murrish Market. I'm sure they weren't the same people who get their cheap kicks driving by our roadside state park at 1 am laying on the car horn and shouting... But that's probably more of a trailer trash Bridgeville thing... And for another review. read more

A little market is Hydesville... They have a great Deli and are a one stop shop for those nearby (get your potting soil!)... Last time I was there I saw they are doing fresh made take and bake Pizza. They have everything from cold drinks to fruits and veg... and an amazing wine and spirits selection! But, the crowning jewel for me at this market are the Deli Sandwiches. Made to order, they are crave-worthy! I want to stop every time we go by! Even the pre-made ones in the delivery case are great. Highly recommended! read more

While on a road trip in July with my family, I had the unfortunate experience of meeting Mike, the owner of this establishment. I was in town, looking for firewood while shopping at another store. Mike was dressed in his apron and name tag and speaking in a familiar manner with the employees of the store I was in. I assumed he too worked there and asked him a question. He gave a curt, flippant answer and informed me that he worked somewhere else. His brusque manner, I assume a failed attempt at humor or shaming, was more than enough for me to not want to support this man. Recently, another frustrated customer approached me and I got to endure a well-intentioned employee of the market trying to pick apart his story. Jessica, the employee who joined the conversation, has also taken the time to review her employer here on Yelp as well as Facebook, where my original review was posted. Overall, poor form. Hopefully this review will help the market change so that others won't have the same experience I had. read more

Murrish Market is an absolute lifesaver many a night I do not want to run to Fortuna for a gallon of milk or another random need. I am always shocked when I am able to find bizarre and random objects! Nuts, screws, index cards, chalk, a great cup of coffee, or loaf of bread. My kids love to walk up and partake in a Frazzle (similar to a slushie). I always get my gas here. For a couple cents more per gallon (ends up being about $2 more on an entire tank) I would rather fund a local family's trips to Hawaii than some random CEO I will never run into at a local event. I find it rather hilarious that they have a huge pile of Fiskars at the checkout and a larger than life display of Turkey Bags. People in the sticks must love their turkey and be doing lots of paper crafts! Service is outstanding and they have a wonderful new building. Thanks for sticking in our little town. read more

I used to live in Hydesville and frequented Murrish Market. I grew up with Matt Murrish and his family has always been very pleasant and friendly. They recently built a new store and it is much larger than the older store. There's also a gas station which is a newer edition. This market is the perfect place to stop on the way to Swimmer's Delight or on the way to Ruth Lake. read more

Very convient, love the selection of goodies and normal things I forgot and had to make one last stop before leaving town...but the staff is so rude and some of the food items I've bought in the past were stale or bad upon arriving home. Salami should not be hard as a rock, and avacado shouldn't be brown and I certainly shouldn't have to pay double for bad items. As far as the staff....there's a lady who has been rude to me and I've witnessed others soooo many times. Early 50s, short brown hair, glasses, she's always at the register and she acts like she's doing the customers a favor. I've literally heard her mock people as they walk off. Always complaining about the non locals frequenting the store and hippies on their way to work in the hills.....well news flash lady, they are buying the items in the store that pay your check every 2 weeks. If you have a problem with it go work else where. It's a busy store because of the industry in the hills on 36, not because hydsville has a population of 10,000. read more

Convenience, convenience, convenience. Always surprised at the inventory and variety they carry. That sandwich deli is better than most restaurants. Try the Murrish Potato Salad by the pint or 1/2 pint from the deli counter. I couldn't figure how to get gas in my lawnmower can and a gal came right out to the pump and helped me.
