It's sad that the grocery store across the street has a better selection of beer than Bevmo! I sometimes have to buy the beers I like in cases when I travel to Santa Rosa when Northcoast brewery is closer to us but we can't get all the varieties like Berliner Weisse. They do not carry Cuver Belgian ales either. Ive tried to order them in but they always tell me their distributor doesn't carry them. Maybe its time for a different distributor. read more

BevMo is a great spot to hit up whenever you're planning on hosting a party or event. They have many of the specialty items that are harder to track down at other stores. On my most recent trip, I went there for some tiny liquor bottles for stocking stuffers and some dehydrated blood orange slices to garnish some fancy cocktails. Was told they were actually "closed" and the grocery store across the street had a "free" one. Clearly a lie. While the North Coast and, for the most part the whole Pacific Northwest region seem to know how to craft and provide a good selection of beers, sometimes I just want to experiment on my own. I'm glad that we finally have a BevMo here because it provides a huge variety of that wonderful (in moderation of course) molecule, ETOH. While most local venues that stock alcohol seem to be run by folks with good taste, I always do feel a certain sense of restriction in that I'm limited to someone else's decisions on what's good (or shitty). BevMo leaves that entirely up to me. The place is the size of a small supermarket, and shelves are lined with both popular and obscure brands of hard-drinks, some soft drinks, and drink-related food. Beer, wine, liquor, soda, mixers, and munchies. There are also tastings offered, and while I don't think you can just ask them to pop the cork on anything at any time, I get the idea from talking to the staff that there is a decent collective knowledge regarding anything you may be curious about. Just reading all the descriptions posted under the bottles can eat up a decent amount of my time, and while I'm no snob about it when I decide to imbibe, I do find it interesting to compare the notes and flavors in the descriptions provided to what you actually taste on the palate. My only wish for improvement: STOCK BERLINER-WEISSE styles! Prices seem comparable to the local stores and co-op, so that kind of sucks, but I guess that's not too big a deal unless you're a raging alcoholic. read more

I love this place! People who work there who I've never even seen before know exactly what I want just by giving them my name. I do usually call ahead though and make an order. I show up, today they opened the empty register so I didn't even have to wait in line. Then she carried my case out the to my car for me. This is Customer Service at its best if you ask me. Fairly small compared to the other BevMos I've been in, however, the selection is great. When they first opened, the staff was terrible - I'm aware that I bought a crappy bottle of vodka, there's no reason to verbally judge me for it. Thankfully in the past year or so , they seem to have hired mostly new people that are friendly and helpful. Prices are definitely higher than a lot of places in Eureka, but again, the selection makes up for it. Use the ClubBev card and watch for sales and you'll save some money. read more

I am writing this in the parking lot of the Eureka BevMo, as I am fed up with the customer service and pricing at this store. I wanted to like it because of the fairly decent selection of beers, including some unavailable elsewhere locally, but all in all, the prices are almost always at least one to two dollars higher per six pack or 22 oz bottle than many other local retailers, and the customer service is abysmal. Several of the employees, particularly two slovenly young men, are lazy, completely unhelpful, and act like customers are a bother. Here is an example of the conversation that just transpired with one of them: Me: "Excuse me, but I was wondering if you know how much the mini-kegs are? None of them are priced." Employee (a black-bearded, red-faced, Amish-looking 20-something): "I don't know. You will have to take them up to the counter and have them scanned." Me (while thinking to myself: Really? You want me to carry each of these kegs up to the counter to get a price, and you aren't even offering to help): "Okaaay ...Well do you have any idea why they aren't priced? The last time I came in, they weren't priced either, even though you keep getting different ones in." Employee: "To be honest with you, I don't know ... I just started working at this location." (Not true ... I have seen him working here on at least two prior visits, and I don't come in often for the above-mentioned reasons. This time, I came in for a specialty beer glass for a gift and just happened to see the several different mini-kegs of German beer they had in stock and thought I would inquire (again). So, basically, he wasn't being honest with me when he said, "To be honest with you ...." In all actuality, he lied so he wouldn't have to make any kind of effort to do anything at all. What a lazy ass! That being said, due to the fact that this kind of thing has happened with others, this is clearly a top-down issue, and both the manager and these lazy, unhelpful employees should be fired. To make a long story short, I put my gift glass back on the shelf and walked out. I will likely not be back. Between the terrible customer service, high prices, or worse, lack of pricing/mislabeling of items, there really is no reason to continue giving my business to this store or this company in general. read more

Great selection of stuff. Friendly staff and knowledgeable. Prices are usually higher than most other small independent stores. Selection is much better though. If you're nearby make a stop. If you live far away, probably not worth a trip. Overall a good place, just expensive. read more

My husband and I went yesterday and we found the store extremely clean and the customer service we received from Andrew (I think that was his name) was super helpful and told us about these amazing cheeses, now we are addicted lol, the cheese is the best blends of amazing cheese. To be honest, I was expecting a better selection in both Tequilas & Wine...decent whiskey selection, but unless it's some sort of limited time sale price, everything is top dollar here. It's actually consistently cheaper to buy most anything at cvs market, costco or even your local stop n shop. Hours are ridiculous as well, I don't understand liquor based establishments closing so early. Great! A big corporation brings itself to Humboldt... I was excited to have variety from the regular crappy California wine selection and run-of-the mill booze, but it's the same CRAP. Not only this, but closing at 7 on a Sunday night, 9 the rest of the week? I hope bevmo goes out of business. Loved this place for their beer selection of single bottles when I lived in Humboldt, wish there was one located in Hawaii.

Not just booze. They carry a variety of sodas produced without sodium benzoate and HFC. Additionally, they now carry organic wines. I wish they would carry local wines too. The previous comments about the workers were true, but it seems that they have changed up their staff to more helpful, and less rude people. So glad about that. read more
