The food and drinks were great! The server was excellent. The vibes were fun. Honestly this was a peak Thai food experience and I would make this my go to spot for Thai in Ballard.

Compared to other Thai restaurants, this one was definitely different. Most Thai restaurants you can choose from what kind of protein you want with your dish and your spice level. This one you couldn't. Also the names of each dish was in Thai, so you had to read the English description for everything. The service was fine, we were seated fast, no wait and they answered any questions we had. The place was clean and well decorated, a little dark but it was still lit enough to see everything. Parking can be a little difficult and you might have to walk a few blocks to get to the restaurant. It's good for what they gave us, but nothing I would crave or anything memorable. The servings were also pretty small for the prices. If you're in the area, good place to go for some authentic Thai food but I wouldn't drive out of my way again.

Not your typical Thai restaurant!! Very unique isan style place in Ballard neighborhood. The place has a very laidback, low key vibe. My friend and I walked in on a Saturday night for dinner and were able to get a table right away. I ordered Gai Phad King which was a soupy stir fry with chicken, mushroom and it also came with rice. It was more like a stew - very comforting with a solid kick of ginger. Overall I liked it and I will come back to try more dishes from the menu. One thing to note: But it's not very vegetarian friendly. The menu is pretty limited if you're looking for meatless options but the service is great and staff is extremely sweet!

This is one of the most interesting Thai restaurants I've ever been to. I felt the need to try every special and yet the regular menu also looked stellar we picked a few dishes and were full to the brim. We will be back when we visit Ballard again.

Pestle rock is not your typical Thai restaurant, so don't expect pad Thai or red curry here! They do isan Thai cuisine so it's totally unique from other places around. I couldn't find an option to make a reservation on their website so we decided to try walk-in on a Saturday. We were seated immediately, they were around 75% full at that time. I noticed their menu has limited vegetarian options, I ordered the Guay tom yum. It was warm, comforting and delicious. The portion was huge and I had leftovers for next day. The dishes are reasonably priced and most of their dishes are priced between 20-25$.

Delicious and authentic Thai food! Loved trying Northern Thailand dishes and our favorites were the peek gai tod (chicken wings) and mee ka ti (thin rice noodles). The service was excellent, and the food took about 10 minutes to come. I love the atmosphere and the authenticity to every dish. If you love Thai food and trying new things, I highly recommend!

I checked out this restaurant with my family and we all loved the food here. The owner Pete explained that it was an Isan Thai Cuisine which is the Northeastern region of Thailand, so they don't serve the typical Thai dishes like Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. He also mentioned how all the dishes were his Mother's recipes and that she was the main chef/cook. All the dishes we tried were so good! If you love spicy food, then this is the place to be. Service was top notch because everyone was so friendly, but the food is definitely a must-try!

Got to try the Ba Mee Hang Mutoon and the Guay Tiow Ta Krai, and both were superb! The freshness of the ingredients really came through and the spice level was perfect.

What a homey, delicious, and authentic tasty IG Thai spot we have here in Ballard. Pete the owner has to be the most dedicated, friendly, and loving owner I've met. The place is underwhelming from the outside but when you step inside you and transported to a grandmothers home, a true Thai experience. The menu is large with lots of things you can't get elsewhere. The ingredients are fresh, and the spices are undeniably great! I highly recommend this spot and would come back!

So happy to find another great Thai place in Ballard! This place stands out because it's very focused on regional Thai food, from the Isan Peninsula. You should NOT get your typical Pad Thai or Pad See Ew because they have so many better items to try. We had no trouble getting a table for three and our food came out quickly. I got the Guay Tiow Lod, which was a soupy mixture of rice rolls and fried tofu. It was awesome, I loved the texture of the rice rolls and I had no idea this was a part of Thai cuisine. My table got two desserts and shared them - I thought the Roti Sai Nom was fine but the Khao Neaw Sang Ya Ka blew me away. The custard was sweet and savory and it was overall just a yummy experience.

Great spot for Isan Thai food! They have unique Thai dishes and prices are reasonable. We got the Thai pork jerky, Ka Nom Teen Nam Prik, and Gang Gae. Everything tasted great! The Thai pork jerky was flavorful and paired well with the Thai Sriracha sauce, the coconut curry in the noodles was balanced and fresh with the vegetables, and the lamb in the massaman curry was flavorful and tender. I really enjoyed all of the dishes we tried, and had some leftovers! I'd recommend dining at Pestle Rock, and I look forward to coming back to try other dishes.

Kao Soi may favorite go too!

Caught up with a friend fellow Yelper Marie B yesterday and we decided to meet at Pestle Rock one of my favorites in my neighborhood. my friend had the Kao Soi always a solid choice. I couldn't decide between two favorites so I got both knowing I could bring home leftovers. The Trout Tod Yum is a dish I had a few years ago when I visited with another and always cone back to it. it's refreshing like a fish salad with all the fresh veggies and herbs. Khao Klook Ka Pe is a newer dish to me that I had for the first time a few months ago. love how interactive and colorful this dish is you pour the caramelized pork on top of the rest of the ingredients mix it up and enjoy! Never disappointed with any dish I try here I know I really need to try more items on the special board. next time!!! Staff is always so friendly and the space is so cheerful with all the lights and plants. Will be back soon!!

Writing this sucks and also I feel like I'm giving a completely honest and fair review of last night (Friday, June 19, 2026) from 7 to 8:30pm ish. Two hairs - one in my kaisen champon, one in my partner's niku udon. A dead bug in the niku udon. A staff member walking the floor actively bleeding from his nose with a napkin stuffed into it. Any one of these on its own would have been a rough night. All three in the same meal is something else ‍ The kitchen is small and open so you can see and hear everything, which meant we also got a front row seat to the chef yelling at his staff multiple times throughout the evening. The team was clearly working hard and seemed genuinely understaffed, but the kitchen felt like it was coming apart at the seams. We were in line to order for about five minutes, during that time we heard the employee at the register say to the man in front of us that there is no more summer special cold udon flight. Bummer, but totally understand. The menus are acrylic boards at the ordering counter, there were two for the two specials and they were left up when we went to order. The employee told me that unfortunately they have run out of the other special (not the flight). She turned around to do something else for a bit, came back, so I ordered the flight and she said they don't have that either. LOL okay!! No worries! I asked if any of the udon can be made cold? She asked the head chef. He yells back that he has no time for this. Like a good one minute lecture, yelling at the staff. So sorry I made him yell at this poor girl I ordered kaisen champon and my partner ordered the niku udon. We waited for a good 30 mins for our food. Fine we like each other enough to spend time with each other and can clearly see it is chaos in the kitchen. We get our food. We didn't get utensils with our food, and were told "I'll grab utensils for you, sorry about that" So we just sat there waiting for utensils. Food is good but there are hairs and a bug ‍ During our time waiting the water wasn't ever filled (it's self serve) so after our food came I asked for water three times, kept getting "I'll refill it". The chawanmushi showed up 20+ minutes after our food, basically as we were finishing. And they don't have to-go containers, which fine, but worth knowing. I've given this place real chances. Last night felt like a hygiene issue, an understaffed kitchen, and a service breakdown all stacked on top of each other. Usually we go during lunch so maybe that's my recommendation moving forward - I'm giving this place a rest from the rotation for now.

The sayap ayam pedas was a huge portion for just 2 people, but we couldn't stop eating. The combination of soy sauce and fish sauce was not overpowering at all and the chicken itself was so juicy. The chicken curry in the nasi lemak was delicious with the coconut rice. Along with the anchovies, egg, peanuts, and sambal, it was a choose-your-own-adventure kind of bite. The kaya toast was the perfectly sweet dish to balance out all the flavors. I especially loved dipping it in the poached egg for a satisfyingly runny bite. I ordered a miso ramen and my parents ordered the tonkatsu ramen. As someone from the Bay Area, I was so surprised by the richness of the ramen and it definitely beats some of my usual spots. Each bowl was ~$15 and a smaller bowl, so would definitely advise getting an extra batch of noodles. The chashu is melt in your mouth tender. The broth wasn't very salty or over complicated itself with a burst of spices, but highlighted the simplicity of a good ramen, tasting the long simmer of the pork. We walked into a casual, compact space with a mix of counter and table seating that fits the quick ramen shop style. The interior is efficient and well organized, though it can get extremely busy, and the wait times are often one of the biggest parts of the experience, especially during peak hours. Once seated, the space feels functional and comfortable, designed around getting a bowl of ramen in front of you without unnecessary distractions. The ramen is built around rich tonkotsu broth with a lot of customization options. We appreciated the ability to adjust things like noodle firmness, richness, and spice level, which made each bowl feel more personalized. The regular tonkotsu ramen stood out for its deep umami flavor without feeling overly heavy, and the noodles had a great texture that held up well against the broth. The vegan options also stand out, including miso-based bowls with flavorful broths that give non-pork options more depth than many ramen shops offer. The toppings are generous, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked to that perfect jammy consistency. Beyond ramen, the menu has a few sides that complement the meal well, including gyoza that came out crisp and well filled. We also grabbed mochi ice cream for something sweet afterward, a light finish after the rich broth. The seasonal ramen options are worth checking out since they add variety beyond the standard bowls, giving regular visitors a reason to come back and try something new. Service is generally quick and friendly, especially considering how busy the restaurant gets. The ordering system is straightforward, and the staff handles the constant flow of customers efficiently. The team kept the pace moving without making the experience feel rushed, and they were attentive to refilling water and checking in on the table. The biggest downside is the popularity, since the lines can sometimes feel long for a relatively quick meal, but the wait tends to move faster than expected given the efficient turnover. Ramen Danbo is a reliable spot for a satisfying bowl of ramen in Seattle. The customizable bowls, strong broth, and consistent noodle quality make it a place worth visiting, although planning around busy hours can make the experience much better. The balance of customization and quality means you can dial in your bowl exactly how you like it, and the focused approach to the menu keeps the attention where it belongs.

This place is a true gem, serving satisfying, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price. The restaurant looks small from the front, but space is used efficiently and they manage to fit quite a bit of seating into not that large of a dining room. Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much.
