We made a reservation on Resy (which is really great if you have American Express because they have a special dining compensation program through Resy). Brittany was our server, and fantastic. We started with the martini espresso and a cappuccino heavy on the foam. My friend ordered the tender pulled beef short ribs with pan roasted potatoes that came topped with perfectly fried eggs. I ordered the shrimp and grits with eggs over easy. The grits were so creamy and wonderfully hot, temperature hot not spicy, and the shrimp came flavored in a sauce that is hard to describe but very easy to eat. Conversation was possible because it wasn't too loud and the seating was fantastic, not tight or packed together, and there was in fact a really wonderful covered patio space outside complete with attractive center table and decor of lights. For her birthday there was a lemon ricotta cheesecake that was perfectly doused in cherry sauce with optional Graham powder crust circling the moist and light cheesecake. Came with a sparkler which made for the perfect occasion to take a birthday photo. And even complementary many pours of champagne to toast. I don't know if there's a better place to dine in Bothell. Make a reservation and then expect to be impressed by both the food and the service. We were. Thanks Brittany for making the occasion such a memorable one.

I made a reservation for patio seating and when we arrived, I walked inside, shared my name and reservation, and was directed to our table by one of the hostesses. We had a party of five + a pup! Everyone ordered the Cottage Burger while I treated myself to the short rib hash to try something different. Service was excellent! Our waitress came over to take our order and when we got our drinks, we were checked once again and was notified our food was coming shortly. Food arrived fresh, hot, and delicious! All in all, giving The Cottage another chance after I've been coming here for years before the takeout experience has reminded me the quality of customer service and food stayed the same pre-Covid and post-Covid. Thank you to Madison and the wonderful staff!

We ordered the California omelette with hash browns and toast. It was decent, but honestly pretty bland on its own and tasted much better once we added sauce. We also tried the strawberry rhubarb French toast. It wasn't my favorite - the topping felt a bit thrown together, and the whole dish was much sweeter than I expected. The coffee was okay, and the orange juice tasted like bottled juice rather than fresh squeezed. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but the food didn't really stand out to me, especially for brunch.

Service was notably much more welcoming, the interior & vibe remained on point. The College Friend and birthday celebrant went all out and had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries. Notable was that the sizable chicken filet was both buttermilk and pickle juice brined. I opted for the buttermilk pancakes with a blueberry peach compote and a side of Hempler bacon. The fruit compote was so delicious, the maple syrup was a bit of an afterthought. So contrary to my previous review, I did return albeit 6.5 years later. The food and ambiance were wonderful, and our server was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, our experience took a disappointing turn when my daughter accidentally told the hostess we were a party of eight instead of ten. When we were called to be seated, the woman very rudely pointed out that we were actually a party of ten and told us we would be moved to the bottom of the list and have to wait all over again. I've worked at a resort in Wailea for over 30 years and understand the challenges that come with accommodating larger parties. However, the way we were spoken to was, in my experience, one of the rudest and most unprofessional interactions I've ever encountered. It's unfortunate because the food, atmosphere, and our server were wonderful. However, the way we were treated by the hostess left a lasting impression, and unfortunately, we'll be choosing another restaurant in the future.

I got a confirmation email immediately after booking which was convenient. They allowed me to modify my reservation easily when I needed to change my arrival date. The decor and interior design is beautiful, I wish I had taken more photos but I got so sucked in to exploring I barely used my phone this stay. There is not a single bland square inch of this property, everything is thoughtfully curated and well designed. I loved how every wall has hand painted art on it. The lighting both indoor and outdoors is warm and soft, which is such a rare treat in a day and age when everywhere else has harsh cold LEDs everywhere. The rooms are dark but in a comforting and pleasant way. There are large windows that let in plenty of natural light. I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom in our hotel room. For such a wet, humid environment, it is nearly impossible to have a bathroom without mold, yet they accomplished this somehow! My husband and I were fascinated, this is probably the only bathroom we have ever seen in our lives with absolutely zero mold. There was also NO dust in the room whatsoever. We got the Romance Package which included a bottle of champagne (nicely placed in an ice bucket), engraved souvenir champagne flutes, a little box of 4 bite sized chocolates, and some floral massage oil, all of which was placed in the room prior to arrival.I appreciate the pet friendly additions such as placement on the ground floor, doggie bags, and a bowl. The room did not have any pet smell either. All of the staff was incredibly kind and friendly, but Conor at the front desk especially went above and beyond to accomodate us. Even when the front desk was busy and he had multiple phone calls come through, he was attentive and patient with everyone. He also gave us a box for our champagne flutes and a wine stopper for our bottle so we could take it with us. We had one minor inconvenience during our stay and he made sure we were appropriately compensated. Really outstanding service overall from Conor! I also purchased a passport and received a prize for getting all the stamps. It's such a cute little addition that encourages exploration. If you stay here, you absolutley need to view the whole property! The lush landscaping and themed buildings are so special. All of the other businesses and restaurants onsite were amazing, which I will be reviewing separately. We visited 3 restaurants, and all 3 had amazing food. Very excited to check out all of the other McMenamins properties after this wonderful experience. Thank you Anderson School for an awesome stay!
