Heard a lot about it and the wait time. Service was not that good. We asked for water without ice and they still gave us and they were not responsive to being asked for anything. I ordered the chorizo burrito and stack of pancake. Food was excellent and that explains why there were a lot of takeout orders because the servers were not very responsive. Also a disclaimer they don't ask for tip and apply a direct 18% tip without asking. The food is not expensive though and prices are very reasonable and a lot in quantity. Nothing like kicking off a new year with a new restaurant. If you're looking for a cozy atmosphere with a neighborhood feel plus considerable portions of food, Sunrise Restaurant meets the criteria. Even with an early morning pickup, the wait was reasonable and the staff friendly. The salmon bendeict was delicious with a slight hint of spice, and a nice mix of spinach and diced tomatoes. Not only did I find the spinach and diced tomatoes rare for a benedict in Seattle, but they also provided 3 poached eggs vs the standard 2. Their English muffin seemed slightly bigger than typical English muffins and softer too, perhaps homemade vs store bought? Either way, it the 2 slices held up well with the eggs. The bacon egg burritto was packed with eggs and bacon. Don't let the size fool you, Sunrise packs the burrito where it has considerable weight to it. Could easily be split between two people, especially if you throw in one of the sides (ex: hashbrowns). The corned beef hash also came with 3 eggs. The hash itself may look like what you'd find with the canned hash, but did not taste like it. Will certainly get it again! Their French toast was well powdered, and the pancakes were incredibly fluffy. Both were a great portion. If you're in the area or considering delivery with DoorDash, I recommend it. Be mindful that the portions are considerable but prices are reasonable. If you're not looking to wait for the reserved parking spots in the back, street parking is also available. Be mindful of any signs/restrictions as Sunrise is near a residential neighborhood. Unintentional bonus: if you're looking for a protetin kick via eggs, Sunrise has you covered. read more

We visited around 10 a.m. on a Saturday and were seated immediately with no wait. However, the service was disappointing--our server was unfriendly and seemed rushed throughout the meal. We ordered the chorizo burrito and the Italian Benedict. Both dishes were delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the Benedict served with three eggs instead of the usual two. Although the staff was initially hesitant, they did accommodate our request for a meat substitution in the Benedict. We also ordered a short stack of pancakes. While waiting, the server mistakenly assumed we were ready to pay and told us to check out at the counter. We had to clarify that we were still waiting for our pancakes. Thankfully, they arrived about 5-7 minutes later, hot, fluffy, and delicious. Overall, the food was great--I would have rated it 4 stars. However, I'm giving it 3 stars due to the poor service. The staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming. At checkout, we were surprised to find an 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill without any prior notice. There was no sign or mention of this in the menu, and the service certainly didn't justify it. I don't mind tipping well for good service, but transparency matters--it's the principle. I would have never gone to this place if it was t for me picking up a package next door, I been to this place five times once back to back days. There's 3 reserved parking spots in the back which is nice. Upon entering, there's no real check in - the staff just "remembers" who's in line which may not work out when there's a big line. The food was very solid and worth the price. Honestly, it's as good or better than breakfast joints in the area. The only thing that wasn't good was the service. I'm not sure if they're understaffed or taking too many orders (Uber/Doordash, take out, in house) because it took 30+ minutes to get our food which was just two entrees. read more

We arrived around 7:45 on a Saturday morning and had no trouble with parking or getting a table. Service was friendly and attentive from start to finish. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak with hashbrowns, and toast. We agreed that the chicken fried steak was good. He said the hashbrowns were "okay," and the toast was "lackluster." I ordered the huevos rancheros with rice and beans. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The tortillas were dried out thanks to being heated in a microwave, and the rice and beans were on the cold side. I'm pretty sure the rice was leftover. The place was clean, ran in the cold side, and included a song on repeat, being played via television at two high of a volume. The service was great as soon as we came in! Lovely ladies with infectious smiles. It was quiet in there as the only other people left as we came in. We brought our 15 month old in and they were so patient. The ambiance was really quaint and clean! The food was EXCELLENT. Probably the most perfectly cooked hash browns I've ever had. I had stopped in twice on 1/20/24 and 1/28/24 and yes, they're an amazing site serving breakfast and lunch with also featured specials. There's decent table availability for dining onsite, and they sure do brisk, voluminous takeout orders. Street parking can be available on or adjacent to Hwy99/Aurora or via one of three marked spots in the parking lot behind the restaurant. Just make sure to heed the signs and park appropriately. Efficient service with a friendly demeanor. My order of pancakes, eggs and sausage and another visit for corned beef hash, eggs, toast, with additional hash browns were both satisfying and economical. Wow!! WOW! Delicious!! I looked at the menu a few times/ and reviews before deciding to come on our last day in Seattle. Best breakfast of the trip! So glad we made it. It is very plain from the front, and on a very busy road. (Has parking out back) walked in and there were a few other tables eating. So many options on the menu, and everything tasted so fresh. Issac was such a gem of a server. Kept my coffee cup filled, got us more eggs when my son inhaled them! My pesto scramble was incredible! And the fruit cup was perfect, not a bad berry in the bowl. We sat by the door to be near the windows, but there was a lot of pick up orders, so if you want it a little quieter I would love further into the restaurant. The only reason this place doesn't get the extra star is because of the parking situation, it is only street parking and is right on Aurora. The food was absolutely excellent and the coffee served with the option of cream or half and half. The service was friendly and they checked back several times to keep the coffee full. The ambiance is casual, bright and welcoming, and the interior offers all table/chair seating. Pricing is definitely on the lower end of other places we frequent (the Eggs Benny here is about $6 less than some other places), but there is no sacrifice in quality or service! read more

Of course we were seated immediately. Zach (sp ?) was our server and was awesome. Super friendly, joked around with my kids, answered their questions and gave recommendations. We really enjoyed all the food - omelettes, scrambles and pancakes. My son found the sausage in his dish a little too spicy, and when Zach heard him say this, he apologized for having recommended it as not too hot, and comped the dish - totally unexpected and unnecessary but a very nice gesture. My omelette was satisfying and my friend enjoyed one of several variations on Eggs Benedict. The decaf coffee was also good. As it's the only coffee I drink, it's always a plus to find a restaurant that serves a good cup of brewed decaf. The Sunrise is a solid choice for breakfast. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Seattle! Having been to Mexico several times, I've yet to find authentic Huevos Rancheros in the states - until this place! In general, the food quality is much higher than the typical Seattle breakfast place. My favorite is the Huevos Rancheros with rice and beans (their rice and beans are particularly good), but I also like the chilaquiles. Dishes are flavorful. Portions are a good size. I dropped my car off at the mechanic and this restaurant was open. What took me so long to write a review? That I'm unsure of. The interior is no frills of the Diner variety, but the tables are clean and the seats are comfortable. My French toast was spot on and delicious with airy fluffy eggs, the sausage was browned perfectly. They had just opened and said they were going to add Mexican breakfast dishes in the future.
