    Chilaquiles
    Maggie B.

We had a lovely time at Mama Grande's Cafe. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were able to sit right away, but it was a full house, so I feel lucky that we were able to get a table so quickly. We ordered the Chilaquiles and Crab Meat Benedict, which were both delicious. There were a few vegetarian options for savory breakfast lovers, and many options for sweet breakfasts. I don't believe there were any vegan options. The coffee was what you'd expect at a diner-like cafe (nothing fancy), and they kept our mugs full and water glasses full the entire time. We took a little bit of leftovers home and they were kind enough to box it for us and write exactly what was in the box as well as the date. Overall great experience!

We really patted ourselves on the back for finding this spot! No frills breakfast spot with a full menu. Good diner food. I got the ube pancakes but hate to tell you that it's only on their seasonal menu. If you can get it though, it's SO GOOD!

Had the ube pancakes and they were so fluffy, and the flavor so delightfully robust. That ube ganache... Apparently they make everything from scratch !! I want to order it again and order fruit on the side to pile on too, but I am really intrigued by the portobello benedict so that's gonna have to wait The staff was really sweet and friendly, the atmosphere really chill and comfortable. Loved that Minions was on the tv quietly. Can't wait to hang out here some more when I visit my friends in Seattle again

Walking in feels like a worm hole, to cozy place where kindness and quality are the commodities of value. Warms smiles, superior ingredients and a great menu are first. We got the uber pancakes on special... a real treat. Not too sweet, lots of flavor ... paired with strawberries are perfection. The cappuccino was made with pure love. It was perfection. The omelette potatoes and sourdough were delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Enjoyed a mother/daughter brunch at this neighborhood restaurant. The servers were exceptionally kind and attentive, and I loved that they represented a variety of age groups. It gave the restaurant a warm, family-like feel that made us feel right at home. We went around 10:30 a.m. on a weekday morning and it was busy but not packed. Food was delicious and just the right amount. We want to come back and try other things on the menu.

5 star review of the kids Mac n cheese!

Great service! Feels like family in here. Awesome kids menu and my daughter was obsessed with the very cheesy Mac n cheese! The chicken club was delicious!

The pork chop was tender, and went well with the homemade vinegar & garlic sauce. The long lumpia shanghai was GBD, and also went well with the sauce. The longanisa had a texture that reminded me of childhood, and the Ilocos sausage (that is less fatty), was a nice contrast. Lastly, the savory corned beef was a good way to finish the big portion of garlic rice. I def needed a nap after this meal. Regarding the ambiance, its a small, casual place that holds 50. You order at the front, and your food is brought to you quickly. There were a lot of Flip clients, but there were also a fair number of non-Flip clients. Many of the clients looked like regulars. The staff is super nice, and they play Hawaiian reggae in the background. All in all, an awesome experience in DT Seattle. There's a reason Ludi's is on Yelp's Top 100 list. I have a trip booked in Oct to SEA, and I'm glad my hotel is very close to Ludi's.

The menu changes weekly, they try to use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. We started with cocktails. My wife got a perfect Manhattan and I asked for an east side cocktail. That was new to the bartender but she was willing and it turned out to be delicious! Great mix of mint, cucumber and lime. Then we shared 4 dishes: sardine tartine, dal soup, an heirloom tomato and cucumber salad and the halibut entree. Literally everything was delicious. I lived the flavors of the dal soup--cumin, coriander, mustard seed. The tomatoes were super fresh on top of a creamy marscapone. And the halibut was perfectly cooked, with a crispy top and flaky body. I only wish we lived here and could visit more often!

Everything was delicious! They did let us know in advance that the Dutch babies would take about 30 minutes, but it is worth the wait! It came out piping hot, oozing with blueberries and lemon ricotta! My only regret was not being able to try other things since we were headed to Pike Place right after, but I definitely do want to try their other Dutch babies / dinner items in the future!

We came in around 1:45pmish and it wasn't crowded. They had an amazing selection of pastries, though I didn't try any. I got their Caramelized Banana Latte to satisfy my sweet tooth, and it wasn't too banana-flavored nor too sweet; the black sesame in it balanced it nicely. I also got the Urban Pesto, which was SO yum. I was little skeptical of the focaccia - sometimes I find it to be too puffy, and thus hard to eat the sandwich - but this had a lovely panini press on it that made it easy to eat. The in-house herby cheese in the sandwich made each bite just that much more delicious. The staff was also super nice and accommodating to my parents' requests and questions. It was quite busy which we anticipated, so I would highly recommend making a reservation. We were seated right away with our reservation time, but it did take some time to be served. I enjoyed the hot coffee with a bit of cream. It was good; my only comment is that I wasn't offered a refill at any point, and we were there for over an hour. To be fair, it was SUPER busy; like at least 100 people in the dining room. I had one of their seasonal specials, the peaches and cream Swedish pancakes. It was a generous portion included with a trip to the berry bar. The berry bar was very fresh and well maintained as far as cleanliness. It was also in a prime location, near the tables but not too close and not in the way of the walking path. The peaches were juicy and sweet and the cream cheese frosting was a decadent topping. I added some berries which made it extra special. I liked the caramel shards, but they were a little on the thick side for my liking and were a bit tough to eat. However, I really enjoyed the dish overall! I also got a side of peppered bacon which was well-cooked, crispy, and extra peppery. My friend got the classic French toast and a side of potatoes. She loved the French toast with the included berry bar trip! However, the potatoes were cut into HUGE pieces which were difficult to eat even though they were cooked through. I would definitely come back here! If you're looking for a popular brunch spot with delicious sweet brunch options, check on Portage Bay Cafe SLU!
