I came for brunch here with my family while visiting Seattle for a wedding and loved our experience here. We were able to walk in with a big group on a Friday during the day without a reservation and there was plenty of seating. The inside of the cafe is super cozy, colorful, and with plenty of natural light. They have coffee and other hot/iced drinks such as matcha and teas. Their food speciality is their waffles but they have other items on the menu if waffles are not your vibe. The dishes have a little Korean flavor twist which I thought was genius and worked well. I tried a matcha latte which was rich, and not sweet at all (which is my preference). I also ordered a breakfast salad which was divine! It came with a runny fried egg, some delicious mushrooms, and a very umami and soft tempeh. I'm not a fan of tempeh but they really made me love it here and wish I had their recipe!! I added some avocado for extra creaminess and smoked salmon which was of very high quality. It was definitely the perfect meal. My husband tried the savory waffle which he also really enjoyed. We were on our way to see the troll outside the Nordic museum and decided to try something new as we don't make our way up to Ballard often. What grabbed us was the promise of savory waffle sandwiches featuring fried chicken, brisket, Italian beef - each prepared with a Korean fusion flavor twist either in the sauces or how the meat was prepared. I had the fried chicken and my partner had the Italian beef. The waffles used as the bread is a sturdy but soft texture that ensures your sandwich stays a sandwich. I think my favorite part of my fried chicken sandwich was the slaw that had a wonderful delicate flavor that went well with the rich fried chicken breading. Unfortunately there's not a whole lot to do in this neighborhood while you wait for seating either. It was pretty busy, so service was kind of slow. Food is pretty expensive for the amount you're given (but the picture looks like you're given a lot though) The food is indeed delicious. The fried chicken was very very good, great flavor and juicy. The menu features mainly waffle- and hash brown-based items, which are done really well! The hash browns are especially delicious, having been cooked with maximal surface area for crisping, and the house kimchi and chili oil added a welcome touch of heat and acidity to the scramble. We added Italian beef on top, which was super tender but a little salty (the hash brown helps with this though!). The fried chicken waffle sandwich featured a great mix of Asian and Southern-inspired flavors, and it came with a mountain of salad for healthy balance. The brunch salad was chock full of seitan, mushroom, and waffle croutons as promised, and the maple-sesame dressing was very refreshing. We tried the brisket waffle sandwich ($24), the scramble ($18), and lattes. Lattes ($6, $1 extra for oat milk or syrups) were good, not very strong espresso though. The waffles were a lot thinner than expected, but both dishes had great flavor. Service was good, though it did feel a bit like we were being rushed even though there were empty tables. First thing first this place is not the restaurant that previously existed in this same building. If you come here expecting the same menu and and to recapture that prior experience, that's just not going to happen. What this place does have in common with the former, is it shares the same wonderful small café hometown feel ran by amazing humans who will give you an amazing journey with food. The food at a Lamb's Quandary is unique in one of a kind to our region. I've been in twice now and had the best cooked waffle sandwiches that had the most amazing food and flavor combinations available in the area. The coffee the service in the atmosphere are probably best in class. The menu may be simple, but the flavors are so complex and tender that it is worth the journey to stop by. Furthermore, because this place is new, you're almost guaranteed to get a table that is until the rest of you all discover what I have already done so. This place is a hidden gem in a well-known location in a wonderful part of town. But please don't take my word for it. I went there on a 9.30am Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to find a seat outside since I was dining solo. I knew I wanted to try the Waffle Sammies Fried Chicken so I ordered that. When it finally arrived, I was underwhelmed by the taste. The waffle is not warm and the chicken is over fried, though I must say the seasoning of the chicken is good and well marinated. So are the hash browns on the table. I manage to flag down a waiter and told him the issue with the chicken that was over fried. He told me he will check with the chef to find out more..He never got back to me. I even had to go upfront to pay for my meal, and noticed there was a minimum 20% for tips. I'm not sure I'll be back. The cost of the meal plus tips was almost $30 for one. I'm not sure I'll need back anytime soon. read more

This place is great! Good coffee, yummy food, cozy place, super nice people- all of it. I loved the Nelly scramble, which you can customize (waffle or hash browns, various protein or avocados, type of aioli). It was fantastic! My partner had a hearty salad with mushrooms and seitan which he LOVED, but tbh I barely glanced at his because I was mesmerized by my delicious kimchi/salmon/gochujang waffle creation. Fantastic. Looking forward to trying more things. Sounds like they do Benedict's on the weekends, which would be worth checking out. Conceptually I absolutely love the idea. The menu reads well and the flavors described made us order all sandwiches. I believe it was 4 in total. I knew going in that the brisket wouldn't be anything out of this world, it's a hard meat to perfect. What I did except was for the waffles to be unequivocally delicious. The sandwich falls flat solely on the waffles state. It's so thin that I feel it's transitioning into a pancake. It's so firm that I could have been fooled it was a scone. The flavors were nice and I felt with small tweaks the insides of the sandwich would shine. I personally feel that a waffle sandwich should have a textural journey. Thickness that starts with a initial crisp snap and is welcomed by fluffy comfort. It's a hard thing to accomplish. To me it felt as if it's been left in the toaster over for 5 minutes. Service was kind, prompt and helpful. The coffee serves was solid. I will be back for sure to give it another go. read more

Had not heard of this spot until yesterday and so happy we walked down this morning for breakfast! We both got Bennies, which are usually a bit heavy of a breakfast for me. But these were a great surprise! First, i got the bennie with avocado with side salad because i dont like eating heavy carb/fried breakfast. It was beautiful...and the waffle underneath (instead of the typical english muffin) was a nice light base! ...half an avocado on each one, perfectly cooked egg and a nice light and tasty hollendaise with a little spicy chili oil on top. Different and delicious! And the dressing on the salad was so tasty but i couldnt identify it. All in all for me a light and tasty breakfast! My friend had the bennie with brisket and hashbrowns and loved the flavor combos. Tried their homemade kimchi which was so delicious too. Great alternative to heavy traditional breakfast spots...beautiful, fresh and tasty food that doesnt leave you feeling like you have to take a nap afterward. If folks are looking for another Fat Hen replacement (in the same location), this place now offers a different vibe. Rather than a sleepy/cozy brunch spot, this place is a bit more trendy and energetic. The food was definitely a delicious surprise. The fried chicken waffle in particular had the best balance of sweet and savory with a really unexpected Korean flavor underpinning the dish. The hashbrowns were crunchy (maybe a bit too overdone, but I like a dry hashbrown anyway). The only thing I think I would say is that they might need a bit more time to work out the kinks as the food took a bit to come out, so likely their process might need more refining. But otherwise the ambiance was cute and fun, the service was lovely. I really want this place to succeed so I can see what else they can do with the concept. read more

I went there yesterday morning off of a recommendation with my wife and baby for a late breakfast. Let me start by saying that this restaurant is very cozy! You walk in and then they ask you to take a seat and you are promptly greeted for your drinks. The food came out pretty quick, they have a small menu and I feel like that really allows them to produce excellent food! My wife got the scramble and absolutely loved it and I got the fried chicken waffle sandwich. My only request was to have the slaw on the side and they accommodated. Everything was so good there. Bonus points for the owner to come to the table when my baby was crying and gave her stickers!! Would recommend to everyone to try this place. read more
