Frustrating. Expensive. Meh... I see a bunch of negative reviews so I'm not sure about piling on but, you know what? This is the postmodern era and I need to speak, "My truth". We ordered online for take out. My wife ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli, I ordered the Spaghetti con Gamberetti, we ordered plain noodles and Parm for our daughter. Our daughter's meal was the only thing that rated better than mediocre. My spaghetti was described as starring spicy shrimp which... Ahem... was a far, far cry from spicy. The dish registered as sweet rather than anything spicy. No spicy. Not a hint. The pasta was barely al dente... Still a bit stiff.... And the shrimp still had their tails on. I get annoyed at a dish that is designed to be eaten with utensils and you have to reach your fingers into the bowl or put them in your mouth to fish out the shrimp so you can separate the tail from the meat. It's not graceful. It's def not seductive. Oh! and my dish was swimming in oil. I dumped a bunch of it down the drain. My wife's meal was very underwhelming and she commented right away that it didn't look like a 16 dollar dish. Small portion. She was glad she was given bread. We ate it all because we would have been hungry otherwise but dang... This was an experience. A missed opportunity as far as Pastini should be concerned. The restaurant is in a great location, I'd imagine it's poppin during the summer. Sitting on the patio while the sun is out would be so cute. The service was fantastic! We had lunch here on Sunday at 11:30am. When I went to the men's room I discovered this terrible example of cleanliness (toilet). I sent an email to the corporate office with these photos expressing my concern. Their response in part "Our bathrooms are cleaned thoroughly every morning and checked at least every 30 minutes." This looks as though it hasn't been looked after for at least a week. It begs the question where else are they cutting corners on cleanliness. read more

Great service! Came on a Monday night and kiddo got the meatball spaghetti special which was pretty good and ginormous. Caprese salad was good as was the broccolini side. Husband got pappardelle bolognese and that was good, had big chunks of steak If that's what you're into. Drinks were good too! read more

The environment was very fast pace, I would not recommend going for date night. We were in and out of there within 25min of being put on a waitlist, sitting down for about 5min for that wait, and then getting seated at our table and rushed out. It just wasn't what we wanted but could be some people's preference! With how fast we were pushed out meant the food came out incredibly quick in order for that to be possible. A friend told me to come to Pastini because it's such a great restaurant and she was right. Sitting at the bar with my wonderful bartender Jaden she is so professional and a great mixologist! I love eating at the bar and this is a perfect one for me not crowded at the bar but crowded in the restaurant. Jaden deserves a raise! Pastini is an Italian establishment with inviting staff, phenomenal service and was absolutely delicious. Highlights from our family meal was the traditional spaghetti and meatballs that had melt in your mouth tenderness and delicious sauce. The sauces on all the dishes were on point. I loved my shrimp ravioli that I had as well and would say that the portion size of the shrimp per ravioli was on point and the sauce was of course phenomenal. For dessert I highly recommend the Tiramisu! If you're the type who loves Tiramisu this is it! Soft, creamy, and the espresso grounds sprinkled over the top is delightful. The service we received was great! She was down to earth, hilarious, and very engaging. Just added more to our experience! Overall this was one of our favorite restaurants we ate at for our trip to Bend. Great wine menu, phenomenal happy hour, and delicious pasta options! Can't go wrong here! read more

I'm a private chef that happened to be in Bend for the weekend. Stopped in tonight for dinner with a friend. The only thing redeeming about this location was our server who was beyond top notch. The spicy shrimp linguine was undercooked, which was a surprise considering your brand name is Pastini. The bolognese which, traditionally is a mixture of beef, pork and veal, softened and cooked in sauce, came on a plate with chunks of ground beef resembling meatballs. Completely unacceptable for a pasta restaurant. Again, our server was incredible, and shouldn't have to take the brunt for poorly prepared food. He was courteous, attentive and on his game for handling 7 tables. When we left, I flagged down the manager to compliment his service and was appalled by her response. She agreed that he was absolutely stellar but then informed us that she worries that she'll lose him because he cannot afford to live in town any longer and now has to commute. The level of tone-deafness in not only sharing personal information about an employee, but not recognizing that she's the one underpaying him. Again unacceptable. Our server (let's call him J) should be working in a restaurant or resort worthy of his skills. Not taking the brunt from customers because "Pastini" can't somehow manage cooking pasta. What a great lunch! I had the grilled asparagus salad, and it was so fresh! The lemon vinaigrette dressing was phenomenal. I need to figure out how to make this myself. My wife had a gluten-free ziti with Pomodoro sauce and Italian sausage. This is one of the best gluten-free pastas we've ever had. our server, I believe her name was Brandy, made the most amazing Mojito! This is going to be a regular spot for us. read more

I was very impressed by the fast service. We had our food within 15 minutes which was very convenient. The restaurant reminded me of a upscale olive garden. They had multiple salads, pastas, and sandwhiches to choose from. There is seating available inside and outside. It was a beautiful view of the river. We enjoyed the pasta and salad very much. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. I most always get the same items scampi and calamari from the appetizer menu and at least one dirty vodka martini. In town with the family for vacation and decided to go for Italian. This was the closest to where we were staying. Maggie the server was nice. The place was not too busy. For our entrees we had, Linguini with basil pasta. Linguini Misto Mare Linguini Piccata Baked Ziti with Italian sausage Misto and Piccata were listed as having lemon. Oh my goodness did they have lemon. The cook must have spilled the whole bottle in the pot and didn't want to waste it all. A hint of lemon flavor it was not. Of all the "Authentic " Italian, lemon pasta dishes I've had in my years, never have I tasted something as strong and overwhelming on the lemon flavor. All 4 entrées wer pre cooked and warmed for serving. These could not have been freshly prepared. Each dish had portions which needed to be blown on a little to cool it off before eating while the next fork full was barely room temperature. The chicken in the Piccata looked, felt, and tasted like it was sitting in the bottom of the pot waiting to finally be scooped out for serving. The price for the entree would leave you to believe there would be some going home. Think again. Plates were cleaned and more food was needed to not walk away feeling malnourished. Lemon custard cake and a cookie with Gelato for dessert. Both were excellent. If the lemon pasta dishes had the same amount of lemon taste as the custard, they would have been top notch. The 2 stars were, reluctantly given, because of Maggie and the desserts. The entrées need a LOT of work in our opinion. Update on 06/23/2023 I was contacted by Susan from Pastini regarding my review. This was unexpected but greatly appreciated. I expressed other views regarding our experience, which were not listed in my review. Susan was genuine in her concern about my review and I explained to her that while I would not change my review of our first time experience, I would express my gratitude and appreciation for the time she took to address my review. I understand these businesses receive numerous reviews which could be time consuming to respond to each person, but in Susan reaching out to me, it showed me something that most businesses may care little about when they receive a less than glowing review. Decent regional chain of bistros offering standard Italian American fare with housemade pasta. It feels a little corporate-chainlike but it's a small, family owned one at least. Not a bad. choice for lunch or dinner, I highly recommend the Gorgonzola stuffed ravioli with sage brown butter. It's unfortunate that this Pastini didn't live up to my expectations given that it's not only in one of the most beautiful locations ever, but I'm loving my time in Oregon so much, that it takes a lot... for me to give only two stars. That means that it was a combination of more than one infraction. Table of four. We walk in and ask the hostess for a table outside. She says it will be 15 minutes therefore I go to use the bathroom. When I returned, there seemed to be an error with her seating. She had told us that a table opened and we were about to be sat, yet as we walked towards the table, a couple walked up and began demanding the table, saying they called in and reserved their table and should be sat first. So the hostess sat them at the table we were on our way to. Ok. I'm not sure what happens there or whose fault that was, but it was frustrating. What was more frustrating was that after they were sat, she left and didn't come back. We waited, and waited as more and more outside tables opened. We noticed her finally standing outside talking to someone and laughing as we waited. And waited... she kept looking in at us yet didn't come to sit us. Finally a completely different hostess, who'd been standing up front for 10 minutes before asking us if we had been helped or not, was shocked to hear we were still waiting to be sat. "Oh! Well let me sit you then!" Literally as we walked with the new hostess to the new table (sat in direct sunlight instead of the original, more shaded table) the first hostess yells from the patio area to her, "Oh Yea, Can you seat them!?" Insert heavy sigh here. As we were sat, another table to the right and more in the shade opened up, so we asked to move to it which they did with no problem. We ordered the Baked Italian Meatballs, a Chicken Alfredo, Linguini Misto Mare, Fettuccine chicken Marsala, and the Fusilli Alla Roma. While I actually enjoyed the Fusilli Alla Roma, it was verging on bland and not enough salt...my cousins didn't like their meals at all. The fettuccine sauce was super bland and needed something. Over all it just lacked the pizzaz we were hoping a restaurant in a location such as this would hold. Maybe I'd try a different meal... but the customer service in the hostess stand was the worse I've seen in a long time. So a revisit would need contemplation. Everything all together ...and I'd say it just wasn't worth the pretty penny we paid. read more

Two things drew us in for lunch today. First, Zagat published the results of their Italian food dining survey. Put us in the mood. As it were. Second, Pastini announced today that they now had Sparrow Baking Company bread in the house for Bend. Since one of only two little chinks in the armour here previously was the cotton ball quality bread, we were intrigued because we are big fans of Sparrow bakery. The Sparrow bread (their Rustica loaf I think) was a big improvement and a nice addition to the Antipasta plate we enjoyed for lunch along with the always delicious arancini. As chain Italian restaurants go I can't imagine one can do better than this for delicious, fresh food at reasonable prices. The other little preexisting problem has been addressed by an upgrade made in the last few months in background music. What wasonce standard "elevator mix" rock music on the sound system has been replaced by a nice mix of "mangia Italiano" music. Think "The Big Night" music. (see PS) As it were. All set at a level that encourages conversation. For illustration of the reasonable prices, lunch that comfortably served two, antipasti, arancini, gelato and biscotti dessert, and coffee was just over $26 and given we are lighter eaters, we had plenty to bring home for a light dinner Perfecto. Yummy food, good value, friendly service, comfy ambiance and great location. Tutti a tavola per mangiare e bere! The best thing Pastini has going for it is absolutely the view -- the place overall is about 3.5 stars but I'll round up specifically for the view. Sit out on the patio right next to the river and enjoy the scenery with the mountains in the distance and -- if it's the right time of year -- folks going up and down the river. But you probably aren't here for the view, so let's get to the food. This didn't feel much like an authentic Italian restaurant experience, it definitely felt like a chain although it doesn't appear that it is. (One description called it a "local Italian bistro" but that definitely paints a different picture than what you get here. Not that it's inherently a bad thing, just set your expectations.) The food is pretty good--I had the meatballs as an appetizer and spaghetti carbonara for my meal with a side of garlic bread. The meatballs were brought out suspiciously fast -- as if they were just sitting in a pot somewhere being kept warm in the kitchen and scooped out upon my order. They tasted about the same too--not bad though, plenty of cheese which I won't complain about. The spaghetti was all right too--I probably would opt for something different next time though, it wasn't very flavorful but maybe it wasn't intended to be. I'd like to give this place another shot with a different menu option next time -- again, the location is great and if you're already in the Old Mill area this is a great place to stop in if you're looking for something fairly casual but still want to take your time to enjoy the meal. read more

Every dish was exquisite! Vegetables mixed perfectly with the wonderful al dente pasta. Each dish had a unique and distinct flavor. The fusilli had a distinct flavor with sun dried tomatoes, perfectly roasted garlic and mushrooms. The Parmesan cheese added the needed saltiness. The lasagna was the perfect blend of meat, cheese and pasta. Chicken Alfredo had the perfect combination of cream sauce with a lovely cracked pepper taste. The cavatappi was subtle with the Italian sausage. Just perfect! And the butternut squash ravioli with a sage butter and the toasted hazelnuts were divine! We topped it off with tiramisu. Our party of 8 sat on their patio and really enjoyed the view of the river and all that was going on in the area. They were having a concert that night across the river and we were told and given a flyer saying we had to be done with an hour and a half which was fine with us. That might be off putting to someone who wanted to have appetizers and drinks before dinner. We all ordered something different and everyone loved what we got. The macaroni and cheese was to die for. You could tell they used fresh pasta and ingredients. The make server was abrupt and unfriendly and didn't refill drinks- that is why they lost one star. Prices and portions were reasonable. We are occasional visitors of Pastini back in Portland and there are a few signature dishes we truly enjoy. The butternut squash ravioli and the Gorgonzola tortellini along with Chianti and a Caesar Salad. This is more of a 3.5 star but rounding up to 4. Our experience here at the Bend location indoors wasn't bad but the service was a bit underwhelming. We are used to a couple cubes of bread to accompany our dishes. Not one of these had bread nor did our server even mention it. When I asked about it later toward the end of our meal she replied with it's only available upon request. Okay. I asked for red pepper flakes when my order arrived and she proceeded to taking an order from another table. Our Caesar salad was nice as always but we had to ask for fresh ground pepper. Then they had to go get it instead of being prepared. It should be offered upon arrival but this place seems to cut corners on the details where they feel they can. It's not going unnoticed. I hope this was just an off night and we do love Pastini. read more

When you are understaffed, you don't continue to seat you're restaurant until it's packed despite the lack of wait staff and cooks. Well, unless you're this restaurant. Food was underwhelming when it finally showed up ( easily 35+ minute wait). Not only did the clueless manager bring us a wrong dish, she didn't even comp the right dish that was 45 minutes from order. Come on...food is ok, maybe Olive Garden level at best. Lots of other places to eat. Shame they have a nice river view. read more

Had a great dinner. Such a nice restaurant. The manager and our server kellie were great. Wonderful service. We shared the bruschetta ( marinated tomatos and soft ricotta cheese ); Cesar salad so tasty ( shared the large size) and tagliatelle with pork and beef ragú. The ragú was more of a shredded meat and not heavy. Not a ground beef which was better and tastier than other places. We also had the ice cream with cookie. So creamy and delicious.
