I'm sorry to say that it usually takes subpar for me to write a review. The subpar has struck again!!! I want to first state this review isn't a 1-star because of the amazing service! Both my waiter and bartender were kind, friendly, and very informative. Kudos!! On to the nitty gritty: Just passing through Denver and staying at the Monaco. Checked in and immediately checked out Thrillist to find the best Denver spots. Panzano popped up. I was happy because it was an elevator ride away. Down I went. I started out with the grilled Cesar salad per my waiter's recommendation. Taste was ok. What really turned me off was the soggy/mealy lettuce on he place. They drenched the grilled greens in dressing. Probably not the best move. As an Italian litmus I ordered some Rissoto and ragu. Both came and looked deliscioso. Both came and were completely under seasoned and underwhelming. Saving grace (kind of): both grains (pasta and rice) were cooked to perfection. That taste though...... I actually grabbed the salt myself and seasoned to a more suitable taste level. This made the dishes tolerable. Upon receiving my check I told the waiter my issues. He grabbed the bill and insisted he take something off the bill. I denied. He left and talked with the manager. Wasn't about to make this a big scene, so I just casually walked out. Here's my take: From the sound of things, this restaurant has been open for a bit. The problem is this: chefs will leave quality control to their sous chef and/or line cooks after they've been running for a bit (sort of like autopilot). Chef Elise was not their tonight so quality fell on the shoulders of a few line cooks. I have full confidence if chef Elise was there, the food would have been fixed and re-plated. Seasoning is everything in cooking and if you can't trust your line cooks to season a recipe that's been replicated night after night.... You might want to spend a little more time at your restaurant making sure it gets done right. I know the manager will be writing some blanket response saying "we pride ourselves on quality.... Yada yada yada." If you pride yourself on quality so much, my food would not have been a dull thud in my mouth. read more

We went here for our anniversary and really enjoyed it. Great happy hour, with reasonably priced small plates that are a very nice intro to their wider menu. Service is excellent, atmosphere is cazh-swank and the food is superb. Looking forward to going back. read more

This has been one of our favorite Denver restaurants for years. I found out Elise Wiggins is no longer chef, but went anyway and definitely not as good as it has been in past. Waiter was awesome, but grilled Caesar not as good and meat and cheese appetizers were not anything I would go back to. We will definitely follow Elise to her new restaurant. read more

If you're in downtown Denver, head further down the street. Although, I probably would have given more stars if I was able to try to the food. We had made an 8:30 reservation which we called earlier in the day to change to 8:45. The host who answered was nice and said no issues. We got there at 9 after dressing up and walking there, excited for a romantic dinner. We were greeted by the hostess who was super sweet and said she's show us to or table "no problem, just one minute" where she then disappeared and later her manager came out. He informed us that they had closed and couldn't do anything for us. He recommended some chain restaurants for us. Having been a hostess myself I was floored and shocked at the unprofessional nature. The hostess could have mentioned earlier when I called that they close at 9 or could have called when they were closing to save us from walking all the way there. Had the best dinner here with my family and another friend's family! Everything was delicious (must get the brussel sprouts and tiramisu!) and the service impeccable. I was lucky enough to get a reservation through Open Table on a Saturday morning for Saturday evening so it's not too snooty to get into either! What a find! We were looking for a place with good pasta after a long day at a conference. This place hit the spot! We didn't have a reservation so we sat at the bar, but service was great. "Jimbo" our server was very supportive and great at recommending dishes. I loved the interactive wine menu on the iPad. I had the Pastiche (1/2 order) and the carbonara (1/2 order) and both were incredible. The Brussels sprouts and calamari for an appetizer is great too! Will be back! read more

This place is amazing. My husband and I have been here about four times. It is definitely a special occasion type of place. The food is consistently excellent, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and very accommodating for my food allergy (Celiac disease). There are some consistent items on the menu, but it changes enough so that every time we return to dine, we have many new dishes to choose from. The alcohol list is extensive, and if you need help navigating it, the staff can easily guide you. They really have perfected Italian gluten free fine dining. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed my happy hour snack and reasonably priced. The tortellini were 3 fat tortellini stuffed with warm, creamy cheese in a rich bolonaise sauce. More filling than I expected. The personal size pizza had a delightfully crispy crust. The olive plate was my excuse for veggies! I really like the small green ones that were a little crispy. Sat close to the open kitchen and that was a treat. Service is top notch! I mean REALLY GREAT! I imagine that the only reason I rate this a 4 is that I had such high expectations. The Caesar salad among the best I have ever had. We had the chefs tasting menu. Our firsts were the crepes and brussel sprouts. Sprouts were OK but the crepes excellent. Ravioli was above average but just under great. The chicken was served over masted potatoes and spinach with a layer of fine ham. Kinda like a cordon-blue. Very good. Being a New Yorker all my life and moving to Colorado Springs 12 years ago, I have to say this is the best Italian Restaurant I've been to since moving here. The veal was super tender. Something I haven't found in many years. The cannoli for dessert was unbelievable. Instead of the heavy ricotta filling and thick shell pastry, it was light lemon flavored mascarpone and a delicate honey crisp crepe rolled around it with blueberry compote on the side. Heavenly!!!! The server was Michael Combs who was a true professional. Knew the dishes perfectly so he could recommend selections and was very attentive. Next time we come to Denver this will definitely be a must to visit. read more

What to expect when you order their bloody Marys? It tasted like raw oysters with horseradish and cocktail sauce. It's got a good taste. They have Great service from the time you walk in. If it's your first time here, listen to the waiter when he suggests house favorites. I got the spata which got old after a few bites. It's their casserole, but it was really cheesy. The side salad it came with was more enjoyable. If you could get that as a side with another dish I'd get it. It had feta and pomegranate seeds on it. The bf and I went to Panzano for RW, and were blown away with every part of the meal. Even though it was busy, and it was RW, Panzano provided excellent service, from the coast check to pre dinner glass of wine to the table. Outstanding. Thank you for not lowering the quality of anything because of RW week. to the food, small portions; as a 'tasting menu' i thought it was a perfect amount of food, the boyfriend didn't quite agree with me there. I had the sprouts and he had the mushroom crepe, winner was the crepe. the rich sauce spooned over the top really brought the dish together. I had the grilled caesar he had the regular. both very tasty. Next, I had the Pastiche, which I was a little nervous about but the flavor combination with the cinnamon bechamel and meatballs was divine. The meatballs were more sausage-like, no complaints here. Well I went to Panzano Restaurant with few friends of mine. Wow it was a classic place to start off. Then all of us agree to try four different dishes from each other other. Well i'm not a advanture type if it comes with new dishes to try but my friend talk me into of trying the Calamari, Pastiche, Fattoria Piatto, and a lamb dish that I forget the name. This is the second time we've been to Panzanos for New Years Day brunch. My wife did the buffet and I ordered off the menu. Our waiter(Nick) was totally on top of the day and the service was done with great facility and good humor. Since we had another engagement immediately following brunch we had such great service we easily made our appointment thanks to Nick.
