Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. I wish I looked at the reviews before coming here. I mostly came here for convenience as I come to veranda frequently and they had an opening for the next day. I'd look at this place as more of a retail store than a medical office. Like others have said, staff are super friendly and nice which is why it was hard for me to believe how much we got played. I'm not 100% sure if they are in network with insurance like they say they are. But my insurance randomly changed without notice so I wasn't aware of my coverage and agreed with the charges in the moment. However, I went back to my insurance the next day and we were super over charged. My husband and I both got our eyes examined. He got new frames and I switched out the lens with my new prescription with my old frames. Based on our coverage, our eye exams are 100% covered including retina imaging (we paid $89/person). We got a "discount" on our frames/lens, but my lens change was also supposed to be 100% covered and frames should be $150 off. I tried to cancel at this point but the cancellation fee was way too high to be worth it. I understand this place is family owned, but I'd appreciate more transparency and honestly, especially when I back tracked to better understand what happened. I had to reach out to a family member who works in an optometry office to help me. read more

Orion Optical - Overly satisfied customer. - Optometrists Near Me - Concord, California

Says they're open on Sunday's for 6 hours. They are not. When I asked about how much it would be to get a contact lense prescription he said, "Oh, I don't know. It just forwards the calls to my cell." If it's your business and it's forwarding to your personal cell... you should know everything, you're the guy. He told me I had to get an entire new eye exam even though I got a glasses prescription very recently even though every other place I called said I don't. Dude just wanted to nickel and dime me. 150 after tax just to get a contact lense prescription? No thanks yo. read more

My initial visit with Dr. Peter Visendi, O.D., exceeded all my expectations. The eye exam was very thorough, and I also received a contact lens evaluation. Lynn, the coordinator, was kind, welcoming, knowledgeable, and efficient. I was very happy with my glasses; the lenses are amazingly clear! I will recommend my family & friends here. read more

Buyer Beware. Especially if you have vision insurance. The incredibly rude and pushy gentleman who waited on me told me my insurance only covered $120 on my glasses. I bought them (like I said, he was pushy). By the time I got home I knew something was off and I immediately called and canceled my glasses. He was curt, but did it and emailed me confirmation. Never once asked me why. Today I went to Broadway Eyeworks in Walnut Creek. Imagine my shock when I was told that my insurance covered over half the cost of glasses! $600!! Either Orion doesn't know how to figure insurance or ??? read more

Hands down the best in the bay and beyond! From the moment I walked through the door I was taken care of. Having 20/20 vision up until 44 I had never experienced the process of eye exams and finding the right glasses. Dr Sui was fantastic making sure I understood what my prescription was and giving me advice about an eye infection I had been struggling with for years. Then syd (owner) took over and I was placed in very good hands. The glasses selection is vast with so much to choose from but syd made sure I had all I needed to choose the right ones. Along with his extremely helpful assistant and son I felt very spoilt for the wonderful service I had gotten. I even had a follow up call after I got my glasses to make make sure they were working out well. From the quality of the glasses, the speedy turn around and the ease I felt after giving into age ;) I highly recommend you go check out these guys! Thank you so much for taking great care of me. Wow I have a tough time with getting the right prescription for my glasses because of my one right eye which requires progressive glasses. I have seen optometrists in my past struggle to find the right lens that works. Dr Matt Shiu was efficient and quick, he was pretty spot on with my prescription. There is amazing machines here that made the run of tests effortless. I ordered a new pair of glasses because the selection of glasses here are the best I've ever seen! TOO DIE FOR!! The owners have good taste and there are classic and even up to trend styles. My last optometrist in Pleasanton was good but the display of glasses were horrific. Was very happy with my visit here, owner and wife were so supportive of picking out a new set of designer glasses. read more

I definitely recommend this place. Great options on frames. The staff is friendly and super helpful. Thanks guys!

The male worker that was there only gave me a bad experience in this place. He was inpatient, kept breathing hard in an angry way, didn't give any helpful advice on how my insurance would cover the wholesale price, kept over watching me, but most of all did not act friendly in any shape or form. Turns out when I was leaving he had his cell phone on a movie and he just wanted to go back in watching. I'm giving it 2 out of 5 because although the male employee was not professional or helpful the places does have the glasses I may want to purchase, high quality Italian and Japanese. Overall, Orion Optical needs to step up their customer service, remove the dead weight guy that was there alone, or just make sure their working so they can earn our hard working money for glasses! read more

I deal with a TBI and due to that need blue light glasses got some specially made they have the best brands and really sweet staff and nice owner! Highly recommend read more

Who knew going to get a new pare of prescription glasses would be such a positive experience. Orion optical is excellent in all regards. They have about 50 different brands of frames on display; their customer service is excellent and the eye doctor, Mt Peter Visendi is a true professional with 50+ years of eye exam experience and was a a Cal professor for many years. This is a business that deserves to be supported read more

The doctor and the front desk people are nice and professional. However I think they make up their fees based on who you are or how they see you. My wife had a regular eye exam and we asked how much it cost before making appointment and they said 65.00 because the insurance covers the rest. I then sent my daughter few months later and did not ask for the price because usually prices don't change as much especially when you have insurance, because my daughter was alone they charged her 154.00. When I called they said the prices are given to them by the doctor and they can't do anything about how the doctor charges. So if you are going for an exe exam just ask ahead of time so you don't get any surprises. read more

1st time here and I loved it. The service was perfect. The staff is very patient when helping you pick your glasses and explaining the different options. They have a lot of inventory of designer glasses to choose from. My glasses were ready in less than 2 weeks. I will definitely be coming back next year for another pair of glasses. read more

Great experience everyone they are amazing in front desk omg the doctor really professional explain everything about my eyes problem I highly recommend ORION OPTICAL the best of the best read more

Horrible store. Appears to be staffed with novice untrained young sales people. Eye health is a serious medical issue. It's not about selling someone expensive designer frames. From another site, it looks like the genesis of Orion was in Oakland. Credit was given to an 18yo high school kid w family money who employed a brand new optometry school relative. What type of shell company is this? read more

Great service. Highly recommended. They have Cartier and I absolutely love them. Doctor is fantastic too. Finally I have perfect pair of glasses. read more

I stopped a few weekends ago while shopping at the Veranda. I was very pleased with how nice the office was inside. The owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. They even let me try on the new Versace glasses they had displayed in the front window. I was impressed with the selection of glasses to choose from. I love that they are open and take appointments on the weekend. That is very helpful. read more

After searching for a new pair of frames at multiple locations I decided to check out Orion optical and I was very impressed with their selection. Sid was very helpful with helping me get the frames I wanted within my budget. Overall I would return for a future purchase because of their customer service and quality products. read more

I cannot recommend this place. I went there to purchase some frames thinking I was going to treat myself and get some luxury frames rather than going and shopping at a optical place online. I picked out the frames that I desired, but I was not properly informed on frames with bridges versus frames without bridges and what frame would work properly for my facial features. I proceeded to purchase these frames and paid almost $900 to find out that these frames are ill fitting for my facial features. After wearing these frames for a few months, I realize that the glasses are uncomfortable and causing headaches. I have gone in and gotten multiple adjustments, which is now affecting the integrity of the frame. I attempted to get the situation resolved, and I am still waiting on a resolution. If I spend almost $900, I should not have to get adjustments every two weeks when I could've spent tremendously less and not having to revisit the merchant every two weeks. During one of my many adjustments one of the merchants mentioned there was an issue with frame diversity. Why wasn't this mentioned when I purchased the frame? The family owned business seems more concerned with their profits than the customer. I was even speaking with my hairdresser today and she mentioned her sister is dealing with the exact same issue at this location. I walked out feeling satisfied, I feel beyond frustrated now. I feel swindled and bamboozled. I literally can't wear the $1,000 frames I purchased. Buy your glasses somewhere else guys. read more

Perfectly located in the heart of the Veranda plaza, I simply walked in to look at frames as my glasses search had spanned two plus months. I was told my 7 year old needs reading glasses. I walked into Orion optics with a prescription and with a nervous kid. they went above and beyond with my 7 year old to make him feel comfortable and to find the right pair of reading glasses. He walked out very happy and excited! Thank you Salar for the great customer service. My son loves his glasses and reading time has become so much easier in our house. read more

I had such a wonderful experience here. I went in for a contact lens fitting and the store was beautiful, so clean and well organized. They have really nice designer frames and high quality lenses. Also, loved the eye doctor who helped me choose a comfortable contact lens and get the exact prescription for my eyes. The owner was there and he was so personable, knowledgeable and helpful. The entire staff was very welcoming and professional. It's nice to have a local eye shop in the Veranda shopping center. Truly a great location and overall would highly recommend this place to anyone needing glasses or contacts! Good job, Orion Optical! read more
