I was looking for an optometrist in Concord. I checked the reviews on YELP and decided to call Monument Optometry. Maria answered the phone and booked my appointment with following week. I was delighted they took VSP Insurance. The office is small and clean. They have affordable eye glasses for the family. There are no high-end frames. I found a bold, PINK frame that fits my personality. I ordered two of the same frames: one for eye glasses and one for sunglasses. Dr. Blaylock listens to your eye concerns. She is friendly and thorough with the exam. I was comfortable talking to her and I didn't feel rushed. Her equipment is not fancy, but it gets the job done without paying for expensive services or equipment. Her business is great for the local community. Dr. Blaylock is knowledgeable and makes every effort to get your prescription correct so that you have the best vision. She works with multiple insurance plans to ensure that you maximize your coverage and benefits. Both are kind and helpful. Even though her office is small without the high end designer brand frames that I typically wear, I travel over 45 minutes to get the clearest vision possible and always find the perfect frame. I rather forsake high end designer frames for quality care. I was tired of the large optometry offices that do not give you the personalized care that Dr. Blaylock offers. I just moved back to the area and called around to several local optometrists and I received a punctual call back to schedule an appointment the following week. I walked in and was greeted with a clean office and comfortable waiting area. Maria was very friendly and professional. You can tell she likes her job and being there, which is harder to find these days. I filled out a standard medical history form since it was my first visit. A short wait and I was pleased to meet Dr. Blaylock, she is very kind and understanding as we discussed my previous and current eye care needs. Her exam room was simple and organized. The eye tests and process were very thorough, yet familiar. She took a lot of time to go over my prescription and advice on keeping my eyes healthy. I learned a couple important of things on preventative care and honestly no other optometrists have ever done that before. I would have never known there was a quality eye doctor at the end of this shopping center that I frequently drive past. And I'm so glad I finally found one that I want to go back to! It was a pleasure getting to know the doctor and her staff member, making me feel at ease through the entire appointment. The office staff and doctor was super helpful as I had to transition from one vision insurance to the next. I was lapse in my exam and needed additional contact lenses to tie me over to me next appt. Even though I hadn't gone in for an official eye exam yet, they offered to honor and extend my contact lens prescription until the time of my exam. Eventually, my company transitioned to another vision insurance and I was able to return to my original optometry office. Dr. Blaylock is so kind and phenomenal with kids. My grade-school aged daughters got a thorough eye exam and one them said even the tests with the puff of air and hot air balloon picture were fun. Dr. Blaylock took her time with them and didn't rush through helping choose eyeglass frames and explaining what options I had for the lenses. My kids were also interested in trying contacts for the first time and she even gave them a lesson on how to insert and remove contacts safely. It's my first year with vision insurance (VSP) and Monument Optometry was one of the most solidly reviewed providers. I already had a prescription so I went to browse for glasses. It was a really nice low key experience, the assistant listened to what I wanted and provided me with different options as I tried on frames. She was also happy to explain my benefits and how much each would cost with my coverage, which I appreciated. I love my frames, and ended up adding on some cute sunglasses for a reasonable price. Dr. Cynthia Blaylock is the best OD you will find! I called multiple places looking for someone who knew how to treat my specific eye condition. I've had a hard time getting the correct prescription for a good number of years. My last doctor from Kaiser retired and after that it's been hard to find someone to figure it out. Not the doctor's fault it's just hard to figure it out. I called a number of places and asked if they knew how to do prescriptions for amblyopia. And Dr. Blaylock did! The first exam she blocked off a bigger time frame than usual so she can test me thoroughly. Her personality is fantastic by the way! She's patient, kind, and understanding. She took her time to give me the best chance at a good prescription and literally pulled out every trick in the eye exam book. The same ones they used at UC Berkeley when I was a child. She drew up a prescription. Unfortunately it was the same issue. Couldn't use them with both eyes. But each were clear on their own. I went in and she blocked off another big time slot to see what was going on. Well with a change of prism and axis she made it happen. I just picked up my glasses and my eyes are no longer straining to see and read. Which is what I do all day...read. I can't tell you how grateful I am for her knowledge, patience, and figuring out what was probably the most difficult prescription to make (my thoughts.. to her I believe it was a piece of cake..heehee jk I know she worked hard). I'm summarizing here because she did so much more throughout the process to help me investigate, what works and didn't as far as prism. Optometry is one of the hardest professions because you are going off of what the patient is telling you is clear or unclear. That's the only way they can figure out your prescription. It takes a lot of patience, and when you're given a curve ball like mine, a lot of investigative work. This doctor does that. She listens, takes her time with you, takes everything you say seriously, is very knowledgeable, and will not give up! She's a sleuth! When picking up my glasses she also told me I have a 2 year scratch warranty on my glasses! Yaaay! She takes care of her patients throughout the whole process! She's also young and won't be retiring anytime soon. If you need a new prescription this is the place to go! read more

I highly recommend this Optometry! I am a new patient and was able to get a back to back appointment for me and my 11 year old within a week. I'll admit when I arrived and parked outside I wasn't sure about this place. And I regret judging a book by its cover. The receptionist was very nice. The doctor was very personable and easy to talk to. She was really great with my son who is Autistic. I just really enjoyed talking to her. She made me feel really good in her care. She helped me pick out great frames and did not try to upsell. My frames were covered completely by my insurance although I was willing to pay out of pocket for designer frames. I went here to get my eyes checked and glasses made. When I picked up the glasses and brought them home I noticed instantly that they were made wrong. My vision was blurry, could not read and immediately got a headache. I thought maybe I had to get use to them so I used them for short periods of time over the next month. There was no change. I called the office and told them what was going on. I talked directly to the Dr. She said oh, come back in and I will reexamine you and we will get you new glasses. I told her that I could not come in right away and she said whenever you want to come in just call ahead of time and I will see you that day no matter what. Her words were "even If I am with someone else". I thought that was great. Over the next several months I was having health problems and was in and out of several doctors offices and hospitals. So I called them yesterday and told them I was ready to come back in and finally get what I needed done. The girl at the front desk made me an appointment for today at 12 something. Then I get a call back very quickly and the girl says that the Dr said I waited to much time to come back. I explained to her about how the Dr. told me to come when I could and put no pressure or expiration date when I could come back. She would not hear it. I told her to have the Dr. call me and she will know what is going on. Then she puts me on hold and comes back to the phone and tells me that my Eye coverage insurance is no longer good. I was confused. I told her I would call her back. I called and found out that yes my insurance for dental and Vision had to be renewed every 1st part of the year when you have Medicare and an advantage plan. So they fixed it and I had dental and vision back in a hour. This made it so I could go back to that Dr. and have my new year appointment and have my exam and glasses paid for. I have a question, Do you think I will go back to that office? ding ding ding. The answer is NO. read more

Great service! I have a very hard to fill multi focal contact lens prescription. It always takes multiple visits back and forth to the doctor! But Dr. Blaylock took the time to listen to my needs, did a very thorough exam, and made sure that I left with contacts that fit my prescription! I am so impressed with her skills! She even talked about lasik and how it might work for me. I had always been told that LASIK would not work for my vision and was discouraged from researching that option. My girlfriend and I went to this place today to get her eyes checked. The service was amazing. Dr. Blayblock was so sweet and the receptionist was very nice as well. My girlfriend said the whole experience was awesome and that she was comfortable. Dr. Blayblock spoke some Spanish which made my girlfriend more comfortable since her English is not that good. Even so, Dr. Blayblock's receptionist is able to translate if needed. They were not pushy in sales like some other optometry's we have been to in the past. Best service ever! I lost my glasses and had only one pair of contact lenses that were super worn out so it was getting hard to see. I called as a first time patient to try make an appointment to order some new contact lenses but I didn't think it was possible during this stay at home order. The person on the phone was super helpful and so understanding of my situation that she placed my order over the phone and was able to ship out my order so that I didn't have to go into the office.
