Do you have a pair of eyeglasses that would love to give you a piece of their mind for how bad you beat them up? I have a pair of tiffany frames that would love to kick my @$& and then some for the amount of abuse I have put them through. So much so that the next time I break them, it will be for good. You can just imagine the shape they are in. Aside from my glasses hating my guts, I also changed employers over the pandemic, and with that my health benefits. I really needed to find someone who took VSP that also carried a large selection of frames to choose from. After some research I decided to check out Advanced Eyecare. Of course I would go look when they are closing the office for lunch. Oops! They could have kicked me out and tell me to come back after lunch or tomorrow. Nope! One of them stayed behind and let me look through their selection and choose a pair of frames that will hopefully get more love than this pair did. I made a selection as quickly as possible knowing full well these girls deserve a raise for letting me stay and look. If that doesn't speak volumes about the lengths they go to so they can make a new customer happy, then I don't know what does! I look forward to getting my eye exam done there next. This place is okay. The staff is nice and the doctors are great. Depending on who you get, the opticians don't have a great understanding of insurance and often make mistakes in determining your coverage. I've been coming here for years and I started venturing outside for the glasses because twice I was given incorrect information. Also, their check-in tablet is really annoying and not user friendly. I wish they would get rid of it. They could also work on phone etiquette. It always feels like you are bothering them when you call. It's definitely a nice location and I will probably still come here for my eye exams. They just have a lot of room for improvement. read more

This is truly a reflection of the young lady who took my call just now. I did not get the chance to utilize this office's service although they came highly recommended. I would have sent an email but there was no avenue to do so. I am absolutely disappointed by the customer service I received just now. I called to make an appointment based on a glowing review I received about this place, and I gave my insurance. I was placed on a long hold only to be told they didn't accept my insurance. Confused I visited my insurance website and found this office listed as a provider. I called back spoke to the same young lady and said that they were listed as a provider. Being extremely short with me, she then asked for my name and date of birth. A short time later she came back to the phone and said I had coverage but it was VSP and that I kept saying the wrong name. I will admit at this point I was a bit frustrated and I asked, well can I make an appointment. Instead of making my appointment she said to me I didn't have to be rude. I tried to explain that I was referred and I was just trying to be seen but she then followed with silence. I then thought about it and said I would be going elsewhere and hung up the phone. I then processed the level of customer service I received so I called back and asked to speak to a manager. As a manager myself, I would want to know when one of my employees did not provide excellent customer service. I was then placed on a long hold by the same young lady. She then came back and said that her Office Manager was not in and no one else could speak to me. I said thank you and I would send an email. I tried to find an email to send this to but there wasn't one available. I really hope there is a lesson in this post and the young lady receives some customer service coaching. I will be going elsewhere for my eye care needs which is disappointing because I heard nothing but glowing reviews of this location. read more

The doctor was competent and efficient, the office staff and experience was another matter. Communication was terrible, there was an attitude of condescension and rudeness, the computer check in via tablets mounted on wobbly stand up podiums was ridiculous, and my polite request for a return call from the office manager, (the doctors wife), was ignored. I was billed at the END of the visit for charges that had not been discussed, and that I had not been made aware of . I think going to this office constitutes what is basically a crap shoot, and would hesitate recommending the practice, even though the eye exam itself was very good. read more

The one star is strictly due to the manager who is also the owner lbs wife being extremely unprofessional. I had a billing issue and I called to speak to the manager more then once! I stopped in and she only works two days a week so I missed her. Every time I called they said my file was still on her desk with a note to call me. After 4 months I still have not had a return call! The other staff and doctors are so sweet and helpful. I have been visiting this office for over 7 years and have never had a problem! I was recommended this place by a coworker and was so glad they were accepting new patients. They got me in right away and did a thorough exam. I saw Dr. Huang who was very pleasant, open to answering questions and I would not hesitate to see her again. They gave me my prescription on the way out and all of the staff was helpful and kind. This will be my go to place unless something major happens to show me I should go elsewhere. I cannot speak highly enough about this optometry office! When I moved up to the bay, I struggled with finding a good new optometrist, but I was so happy when I found Advanced Eyecare. They have the best technology and such a large array of frames at great rates. The offices are also so clean, organized, and professional. Dr. Lau was such a great doctor. You could tell that she really cares about her patients. She listened to all of my needs and went above and beyond to make sure that my vision was the best it could be. They both have good bedside manners but I don't think they have enough experience to help with someone with more difficult vision issue. I can't even give the place a half star. When I tell you bad customer service... it was off the charts. The owners do not care about the sad and rude attitudes their administrative staff give to their customers. I had a longer than usual wait time but once I meet with Dr. T. I understood why. He is very thorough and informative and answered all my questions. Fixed a prescription that I got from Sears that was way overpowered and confirmed my suspicion that it was the cause of my headhaches. I have not had a headache since Ive been wearing my trial pair of lenses. Which he recomended and feel a whole lot better than my old brand. I usually spend a lot of time looking at frames but this time I found "the one" within a few minutes. Lots of trendy cute name brands to choose from and because they are a premier provider on my network I received a huge discount on the frames I chose and upgraded to transition lenses for $0. I am beyond excited and very happy overall. The whole visit eye exam, prescription with contact fitting and complete pair of glasses was under $300 to which I was able to finance with no interest* (for 6 mo) through Care Credit. Which for me helps out to spread the cost over time. I feel like I' ve upgraded my optometrist because they have all these new machines. There is the optos machine that takes a picture of your retina that I would recommend you get if you can because the picture can tell you alot about the health of your eyes. The location in pleasant Hill is okay, parking is tricky but its not difficult to find street parking. read more

If it were possible to give 500 stars, I would. I've been a patient of Dr. Turcios for probably 20 years. Going to the eye doctor is typically a fairly benign experience. However, at some point there will come a need for more than a routine eye exam. This has happened to me twice. The first time was a few years ago when I had a very bad reaction to wearing my contact lens too long. I saw Dr. Turcios every day for a week - he even came in on his day off to see me - until the situation cleared up. Then this past August I had an ulcer develop underneath the cornea of my right eye. This happened on a Sunday and I went to see Dr. Turcios at 8:00 am the following Monday. He took one look at me and said get to an emergency room now. He was very honest and said they did not have the proper equipment to fully evaluate my eye. Had he not done that....and maybe have been arrogant like some doctors are and tried to treat me - I would have completely lost my vision in that eye. I won't go into the details of what happened beyond that except to say I had 39 appointments at Kaiser and finally my vision returned. That's how serious this was. To say I am grateful to Dr. Turcios for being so adamant about me going to the emergency room would be an understatement. Wise people are the first to say "I don't know" and not only is Dr. Turcios wise, he is honest. You cannot get any better than that. read more

Horrible place to get glasses at I've never had so many issues at LensCrafters like I've had here! Save yourself a headache and time!! My son has been waiting 3 weeks to get his frames replaced and on top of that they say they don't have the same ones and they asked the vendor/seller to send a sample and in the meantime my son is walking around with taped up frames and the lenses almost falling out because of the cheap frames they sell. They should've give options if they can't deliver what they promise which is warranty. I'm over this place and will give it a bad review every chance I get. I believe they're somewhat of a corporation so I will have to find out how to escalate my concern. Since it's not them having the issue or we are not paying again they don't give a damn!!! I myself stopped going here because they love to waste your time on contacts, but my son only uses glasses. I paid out of pocket to get my eyes measured for contacts and they only give you 1 type of lenses to try at a time then want you to come back 2 weeks later, like who has time to come back every 2 weeks why not give your customers a few brands to try like every other optometrist. They also never give you the right case for your glasses meaning you might spend a lot of money on Vera Wang frames and get an ugly cheap case that doesn't even match or not even the brand of your glasses. Horrible customer service. I had an authorization from VSP/EYECONIC to have segment measurements done for a progressives that were made wrong and they refused to do this. I spoke with VSP and was informed that this is a required service for any VSP provider. This office claims to be VSP Premier, but they don't abide by VSP policies and instead, the staff just make it up. When you ask to talk to a manager they just had the phone to another employee who give more BS. read more

When I got glasses for the second time last year, I went to a place that was where almost everyone else I knew at the time went to. Im not lying when I say, I waited two weeks there. but at Advanced Eyecare, I waited maybe 4 days to get my glasses and I love them! it is so nice to be able to see again and clearly to. not just that, but the appointment was super quick in and out. The people there were super nice, and it felt very comfortable there as well! 10/10 recommend it. I love walking around the house seeing things so clearly! Definitely would go again. read more

This might just be the greatest optometrist in America... Last night I scratched my cornea in my left eye while removing my contacts. I called today on the off-chance that they would have an available appointment and be able to fit me in. I am new to the Bay Area and hadn't found an eye dr yet. They told me that normally they didn't see new patients for eye problems, but they went ahead and found a time for me to come in today and get checked out. Let me tell you, I appreciated this SO much! I have amblyopia (lazy eye) in my right, non-scratched, eye. I have very very minimal vision in my bad (right) eye, so I need to protect my good (left) eye at all costs. A scratched cornea may not be a super huge deal for another person, but for me it could mean the difference between being able to see and being legally blind. I cannot express how much I appreciate being fit in the schedule on the same day! (I didn't even tell them any of this over the phone, they found me an appt without this knowledge. They rock!) The office is beautiful and up to date. The doctor was thorough and made sure to check everything out. He also suggested that when I come back in a week for a check up that they go ahead and do my annual exam as well. AWESOME! I was planning on sticking with this place anyway, and I was super happy that he suggested doing my exam as well when I come back. I'll be recommending this place to everyone! read more

Ugh. I have spent over $900 on frames here this year. They called 2 weeks ago to tell me the frames were in (ordered 2 to decide bewteen) and when i got there they only had 1! I had to go back yesterday. I hate having to make multiple trips just because their admins cant figure it out!!!! I wait 45 mins for the doc when I have to get an eye exam. I have 4 other best friends who go to him (Turcios) and experience the same wait! How hard it it to run on time?! He also confuses me with someone else and asked about seeing my mom at a holiday party? HUH- not the right woman! Lastly, the girls always try to up-sell you on getting your frames tinted and things. Annoying. Lastly, they DO NOT have a good designer selection!!! I like my Dior and Prada, Chanel etc and they hardly carry anything high end. You have to find styles you like at Sunglass Hut or Nordstrom and then have them specially order them for you. THEN they are all back-ordered and I seriously had to wait 3 months for my Diors to come in even though other retailers had them in stock! UGH! THEN, you have to go check them out once they come in and THENNNN they will order the prescription lenses for you which takes another 10 business days!!!!!!!! When this is all said and done it will be a 6 month process to get my frames! They should treat me a little better when I have ordered 2 pairs of $465 frames!!!!!!!!! The staff is generally wonderful, as is Dr. Turcios. However, it seems that staff training needs more oversight. Over the phone I ordered a box of contacts for each eye; there was someone training/guiding the person taking my call. All well and good, until I went in to pick them up. The receptionist brought out one box. One. For one eye. There was a 'mistake' made when the order was placed and ordering from this particular company is 'tricky'. I brought up the fact that this should have been confirmed by the second person before the order was completed and the other receptionist **interrupted** me to say that 'a lot of us are new'. Ok, so the trainee was training the trainee. I get that many businesses have new employees, but it's not a valid reason for lack of follow through by someone up the chain. read more

I am giving this place a couple of stars because Dr. Turcios seems to be a very good at what he does. If I'd only had to deal with Dr. Turcios, I'd give 4 or 5 stars to this review. I'm removing stars because of the staff person who performed my eye tests before I saw Dr. Turcios and who was assigned to help me pick out frames afterwards. I didn't care for the staff person's manner right from the beginning. She had very little warmth and was fairly robotic and clinical. I don't know what her qualifications are to perform eye tests, or if there are any actual credentials necessary to perform her function. She was being shadowed by a very nice seeming co-worker (unsure if that person was junior to her or not). After the doctor was finished with my exam, the same staff member who had done my testing was assigned to help me find new frames. I could tell right away that she was going to rush me through the process and not really listen to what I was looking for. I didn't stay for the torture. I trusted my gut. I don't want to be rushed, and as a customer I want to be listened to and to work with a friendly staff member who is genuinely interested in my finding the right product. I paid for my exam, and left. Total waste of time, I took off work for the appointment. This was my second time there (went in 2016 for frames). The first time I went in (a female doctor/not Dr. Turcios) was excellent. However, I came away from that appointment with the very ugly pair of eyeglasses I was trying to replace today. I remember being rushed that day too - different person helped me. Also, the selection in the office is VERY limited. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I recently moved from Ohio to California and had to find a new optometrist after having the same one for over 15 years. I found Dr. Robert Turcios on Google and he had amazing reviews, and now I personally know why. The office is clean and the receptionist are welcoming and kind. Dr. T was so patient during the eye exam and really listened to what I wanted out of my contacts. He treated me like family, even showing me pictures of his beautiful granddaughter after one of our appointments. If you're looking for a new optometrist look no further. I have been going to Advanced Eye since I started wearing glasses -10+ years - A few friends and I from work made it an annual fun thing to do at the start of each new year when our VSP Insurance renewed. The staff was so friendly,helpful and best of all patient - they made it fun :) Plus they carry so many cute styles etc..- Recently I posted a pretty nasty review- which I soon after regretted- but figured nobody paid attention-Well some people did - and since I posted the not so good review- I have been back to Advanced Eye a couple of times and had a much better experience- I had a heart to heart with the manager Janet who has always been very kind and helpful- Lets chalk the not so good one up to a few women including myself having a not so good day . The whole Covid experience might have contributed to the disconnect too. The whole staff is back to there happy helpful ways - and I left happy with my Tiffany glasses that I've always wanted :) - I am glad that I went back - I could never get the excellent service and the awesome selection of frames anywhere else. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I came in and all my insurance information was already pulled. No waiting to see what's covered. Dr. Miller saw myself and my 9 year old daughter. He asked me a couple questions but listened to what my daughter had to say and took it seriously. He took his time on both our eye exams and noted things I have never been informed of before. My daughter is slightly far sided I'm talking boarder line needing glasses. He recommended we try eye exercises before we jump into a prescription. I really appreciated that since glasses are not cheap and I'm not sure I'm ready for the glasses fight. Lol! I will continue to be seen here and recommend everyone to go here. read more
