Found this gem via Google. My wife and I wanted to go somewhere that had a vast amount of designer glasses. I called this spot and spoke to Veronica. She let me know that they take our insurance and they close at 6pm today. I told her that was perfect and that we would be there soon. We got here and met with Veronica. She was super nice and very very knowledgeable. She walked me around so she could get an understanding of what I was looking for. I tried on Gucci, Cartier and more. She and my wife were so helpful in choosing my frames. I wanted both a regular pair and sunglasses. Victoria's patience was top notch..lol. Eventually, I found exactly what I needed. My wife's turn was next. Victoria was amazing with her as well. Veronica showed her many that hit the mark. My wife found a very nice pair of regular glasses. Veronica has excellent customer service. We did not know that a gentleman that was working there was actually the owner. His name is Sid. He is so nice and his energy is unmatched. He is in the picture with his wife (Mahnaz) and his son (Salar). His wife actually helped my wife pick out a pair of shades which she had no intention of getting because she normally wears transitional. His son is super warm and welcoming. Great experience at Orion Optical. Came in for a prescription check and ended up getting custom Cartier frames with diamond-cut lenses and transition lenses that turn into sunglasses in the sun (you can pick the color too). Lyn helped me out and was super knowledgeable and easy to work with. I brought in a bunch of ideas and pics, and she really helped bring everything together. She gave honest suggestions on what would look better for my face instead of just going along with everything, which I appreciated. From frame size to lens sizing bring out a ruler to measure me up. She definitely felt like the specialist when it came to this type of custom work. Shoutout to the rest of the staff too--everyone was friendly and helpful throughout the process. She also helped me pick the perfect lens color to match the panther eyes on the frames, which came out What stood out was the attention to detail--especially with the diamond cuts. She pointed out small details I wouldn't have even noticed, which made a big difference in the final result. It did take about 1.5 months, but that's expected with custom lenses and special ordering. Definitely worth the wait. They do get busy, so I'd recommend making an appointment. I walked in and got lucky Lyn was available, but better to book ahead. I have had a very, very difficult time over the years finding flattering and comfortable frames for my small, narrow face. Although I live in San Jose, I called Orion Optical in Concord because I am up that way on weekends. Lyn confirmed that Orion carries many petite-size frames. I went in, and Lyn spent a lot of time helping me. The glasses selection was extensive, and tasteful. I was due for two pairs of glasses-- a progressive pair and a pair for working at the computer. Lyn did not make me feel rushed or awkward for taking a while making a choice. She explained so much more than even my usual Palo Alto optician's office does. In this case, insurance only counted towards one pair of glasses, but they gave me a "second pair half-off" discount that was worth more than the insurance would have covered, actually. This is my first experience with an independent eye wear boutique and I will never go back to a chain eye wear store again. I was in the market for rectangular acetate Masunaga frames. Lynn was patient and showed me a variety of options and I ended up getting the 032 model in black. Lynn also recommended I get high index Shamir lenses because I work from home on the computer and it would reduce glare, be light weight and oleophobic. THIS PLACE DOES NOT TAKE INSURANCE. I was told over the phone they take my vision insurance. Not just a "discount". At first I thought the out of pocket expenses were copay and was a bit confused. Since I just switched insurances. We were shown prices "with insurance and without insurance" which is very deceiving. Found out at the end of the exam they don't take insurance. Nor do they go through your insurance. They give an "insurance discount". You pay full out of pocket and if you choose to go through insurance that's on you. Over 700$ spent. With no new frames. I don't appreciate how they were not upfront and lacked transparency about them not taking insurance. Disappointing since The Doctor was great but we got swindled. Go elsewhere! [Also a sharp dresser] I can't say enough about Salar... He is so helpful, attentive, & will go out of his way to make sure your optical needs are met. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. I wish I looked at the reviews before coming here. I mostly came here for convenience as I come to veranda frequently and they had an opening for the next day. I'd look at this place as more of a retail store than a medical office. Like others have said, staff are super friendly and nice which is why it was hard for me to believe how much we got played. I'm not 100% sure if they are in network with insurance like they say they are. But my insurance randomly changed without notice so I wasn't aware of my coverage and agreed with the charges in the moment. However, I went back to my insurance the next day and we were super over charged. My husband and I both got our eyes examined. He got new frames and I switched out the lens with my new prescription with my old frames. Based on our coverage, our eye exams are 100% covered including retina imaging (we paid $89/person). We got a "discount" on our frames/lens, but my lens change was also supposed to be 100% covered and frames should be $150 off. I tried to cancel at this point but the cancellation fee was way too high to be worth it. I understand this place is family owned, but I'd appreciate more transparency and honestly, especially when I back tracked to better understand what happened. I had to reach out to a family member who works in an optometry office to help me. read more

Says they're open on Sunday's for 6 hours. They are not. When I asked about how much it would be to get a contact lense prescription he said, "Oh, I don't know. It just forwards the calls to my cell." If it's your business and it's forwarding to your personal cell... you should know everything, you're the guy. He told me I had to get an entire new eye exam even though I got a glasses prescription very recently even though every other place I called said I don't. Dude just wanted to nickel and dime me. 150 after tax just to get a contact lense prescription? No thanks yo. read more
