I've had On the Hook a few times over the years when their food trick is nearby. It's a pretty good option if you're craving fish and chips because not a lot of places specialize in them. They are more American style with long and skinner fried fish that has a thick batter. That's my main downside is that the fish are dredged with batter and a lot of your bite is breading and not fish. The fries are crispy and good. Tartar sauce tastes fresh as well. Everything is fried fresh and comes out piping hot which is great.

Can't wait for some awesome fish and chips.

East Ft. Worth location. We got there right when the truck was winding up their time at the Eastchase stop. There was no line so service was super quick. The fish and chips were what I expected and prepared as expected. The three pieces are an ample amount to satisfy my craving for fish and chips. Totally yummy. I love their sweet chili sauce.

I've been frequenting On The Hook for the last couple of years when they are in Plano or near Little Elm. This used to be the ultimate go-to for delicious fish and chips, but the portion of fries has significantly decreased while the prices continue to climb. I'm not sure if certain trucks are being frugal or if this is the new norm, but I don't feel like I get $19 worth of food anymore, and it's been like this for a while now. I haven't found a place with better fish (Alaskan cod) and chips yet, so I keep coming back. It just doesn't feel worth it anymore.

Food taste great. Good fish and fries. Not a big fan of the cole slaw. Also my tray was worth the price(first pic). My sisters look like they just took 3 strips and said "this'll do"(second pic). And the first pic was after I already ate some. Don't really agree with the portion for the $18 price tag. Clam chowder was good.

This what I got for $14 Q til is for size comparison

You get 3 stars cause the food was good. But for $14 all u get is three little pieces of meat SIDES ARE NOT INCLUDED THE French fries are extra if you want them. I work hard for my money this is to expensive for my blood. I'll be going to Long John Silver's from now on.

Stopped by while they visited Kerrville. Best fish food truck I've had to date. New yelp account, fourth fish food truck. Price was on point. Sunny and the crew told everyone 6-7 minutes for order. They were exactly that. COD was crisp and should had gotten two orders of fries for a snack at midnight. Very good. Back in Kerrville October.

Cod Sandwich and fries with a tasty root beer.

On the Hook Fish & Chips food truck delivered an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked up, we were greeted with a friendly smile and a genuine "how can I help you." I ordered the Cod Sandwich and two Fish and Chip plates. The portions were generous, and the flavors did not disappoint. The cod was cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside and tender inside. The Fish and Chips plates were just as delightful, with flaky fish and well-seasoned fries. The spicy mayo was the star of the show, adding just the right kick to elevate the Cod Sandwich to the next level. This is a food truck worth chasing down!

Really enjoyed the fish and chips plate from On the Hook. I arrived at about 11:45am and had my food very soon after I ordered. Both fish and chips were still crispy by the time I picked it up and drove back home to eat. The gentleman taking the orders was very pleasant and offered their new Chile sauce...it was good!

OK boys and girls, gather around. Finally, after long last, I have found a real fish and chips dinner. This is how it is supposed to be done. The right fish, no extra heavy doughy batter covering, excellent fries with the coup de gras...malt vinegar (even if it was in packets-it is a food truck after all). On a scale of 1 to 5 I give them a 10. After being stationed in Scotland for two years I saw what F&S should look and taste like. I have only had one equally satisfying experience in California years ago, but that place is no longer in operation. Take it to the bank...get on the hook!

It was ok. Coleslaw wasn't what I expected. I'd eat again but wouldn't rush to go track down the food truck.

Fish was bland, French fries were ok... very expensive for the portions and what we received. Will not buy again.

I had hoped we would get an outdoor table to appreciate the view but all tables were booked when I made the reservation and were still booked when we got there a bit early. It was also overcast that day. Even though we were a bit early, they were able to seat us quickly. We ended up just having drinks and one side item (yummy squash dish). We made the decision to leave before a full meal because the menu wasn't as vegetarian and gluten free friendly as we'd thought it might be. Danny was our waiter and he was very understanding! He gave us several great drink recommendations. We all very much enjoyed our cocktails and mocktail with a side appetizer of squash. We appreciated the discount on valet parking if you eat at Nido and get your ticket validated. I'm sure I'll be back here on a sunny day and book far enough in advance to sit outside.

I came here last night 7/1 with my family for my birthday dinner. We had never been here before but heard good things! The view at Nido is breathtaking, the lay out is nice and the seating is comfortable, even with children. The apps and drinks are 10/10. The mains are where we encountered problems. I ordered a petite filet and I have attached the picture below. They served me a New York strip ( obviously) and tried to pass it off as a filet. I have never had a filet come cut like this and you can tell by the meat this was a strip not a fillet. They said all of their filets come pre sliced like this. So that must mean they are passing off New York strips as a filet. Which is not only unethical but so disappointing. Don't have a filet on the menu if you're going to do this. Most people probably can't tell the difference but we could, easily. Managers were nice, but would not own that this was not the right cut of meat and insisted it was in fact a filet. Yall be the judge by the photo below. The "mushrooms" on the plate were also charred to an unrecognizable point. The only other steak we ordered at medium well was served medium rare. We also ordered biscuits that never came but we were not charged for them. I will say they did comp my steak and my husbands and gave me some dessert on the house, which we sincerely appreciated. Don't come here for dinner. Drinks and apps for the view and that's it!

We were excited to try the food, and were hungry. Our server appeared (I can't remember his name but he was a short guy with blond hair). I ordered a cocktail and my husband ordered beer to begin with. He went away and then came back asking my husband if he wanted some whiskey cocktail, and we corrected him that we had asked for a particular beer. No big deal. We then ordered the deviled eggs and shishito peppers, and the red fish and short ribs for entree. A lady brought us the drinks, and the deviled eggs. Our server swung by and then disappeared. We thought the shishito peppers were on their way. We waited for what seemed like a really long time and still no shishito peppers. We also noticed that each table had a carafe of water except ours. We were just given water once, and then our server never bothered to fill the water up. Anyway, we kept waiting since there was no sign of the server. At this point, we felt he might have forgotten the second appetizer and we just did not want it, but he was nowhere to be found. A man (not our server) brought out our entrees. We then told him that we had been waiting for our second appetizer and would just want to cancel it. We asked if we could get the biscuits instead. He brought out the biscuits within a few minutes. Now this is where it really annoyed us. Had our server just come over and said he had forgotten our shishito peppers, it would have been okay. Human. What he tried was act smart and dropped by saying the shishito peppers would be out to which we said that we didn't want an appetizer after an entree and had cancelled it. I almost felt like he was treating us as if he thought we don't really dine out or whatever and he could just make fools of us. This really didn't sit right with me. We asked him for water and he filled it up left. The food was above average. The short ribs were good but my red fish had been hammered! The biscuits were good. The deviled eggs were good as well. Anyway, we finished our meal, and got the check, paid, and were waiting to finish our drinks. The receipt was on our table. Also, note, it was not a particularly busy day with several empty tables. What our server did next was absolutely unacceptable. I think he wanted to see if we had tipped him after his awful service. We did, but not 20% as we always do because of the soddy job he did, not to mention his attitude. We paid 15% which I think was more than what he deserved now. Out of nowhere, and mind you, after being absent for long periods before, he just came by, grabbed the paid up bill from our table to our shock, while we were still sitting and talking, looked at the bill, turned towards us, and muttered something angry under his breath and walked away. I have never seen this level of entitlement and bad behavior. We left right away. We had been really looking forward to this meal but I would not want to go back. The food was good, but not great, and I would not want to put up with such obnoxious behavior as a paying customer.

They all qualified for the happy hour except for the lobster pasta. Everything tasted amazing. I enjoyed the crab fingers the most because it was flavorful and left me wanting more. The oysters were so good as were the fried shrimp. The lobster pasta was also a highlight of my meal because it had chunks of lobster meat. The restaurant was surprisingly large. It doesn't look much from the outside but when you walk in, you immediately see how spacious the dining space is. There are large couches and tables. Staff is friendly and service is quick. The buttered crab fingers were SO damn good we ordered another. The smoked trout dip was lovely. The shishitos were surprisingly spicy but I enjoyed that. The fried oyster slider was only fine, and I would probably skip that going forward (I think it's a Gulf oyster). But the raw East Coast oysters were delicious! Mains: i tried the lobster orrechiette ($46 on the day I was there) and one of the specials of the day, a pompano with kabocha and gailan. Both were great but I really especially loved the creamy lobster pasta. After a long week at work, it just really hit the spot. For dessert, we tried the pot du (chocolate) crème, the flourless chocolate torte, and the olive oil cake with blackberry sauce. My favorite was the pot du crème which was so smooth and decadent. The flourless chocolate torte felt a little lost under all the cream, and the olive oil cake was just a little too sweet for my tastes. But others in my group loved those ones. This place is so unassuming from the outside but so so lovely on the inside.
