They serve deep fried cod and french fries for $20. You get three "strips" of fish which has a nice light taste but the batter is nit the least cit crunchy. I think it's because they pack it in a cardboard container and the heat coming off the freshly fried fish makes the batter get soggy. Of course, it's take out only as it is a truck and no eating accommodations, so it result may depend on how far you drive before you eat. The tartar sauce was in institutional packages and tasted nothing like fresh tartar sauce you would expect in a sit down fish restaurant. The fries were like frozen grocery store fries. DO NOT!! I was so excited to follow this food truck and set an alarm on my phone. Ordered a "4 piece fish and chips" Paid extra for an additional piece of fish. The breaded fish that I was given were smaller than my fingers. See my pics to show the breaded fish strips are smaller than a pen. Some of the pics show the fish strips next to French fries. And that fish is breaded!!! I don't complain unless it's this bad. It's rare that I go out of my way to leave a bad review. I was soooo upset. I showed the staff the pathetic small pieces of breaded fish that were the size of my pinky finger and was met with "WHAT YOU WANT MORE FOOD" "Maybe the fish was broken apart" I asked for a refund. They wouldn't give me a refund. They gave me another box of fried breaded fish that were a much larger size than what I was initially given. Great concept for a Food truck I love me some Fish and Chips after spending many years in Scotland eating real Fish and Chips. The prices seems very reasonable considering you are eating from a food truck. You get three good size pieces with you order, small chips ( double fried french fries), ketchup, malt vinegar, also tartar sauce and a couple of other dips. They have clam chowder soup and type types of drinks beside water. Bottled water is $2.00 very reasonable. Soda's are $3.00 each. Spent around 17 dollars for fish and chips. Service was very good when placing your order the gentlemen tells you that it will take 5-7 minutes which is reasonable for a food truck. Looked like three people working inside the truck Had a good size line when I pulled up to order. You eat in your vehicle or on the tail gate of your truck This food truck was in the Lowes Parking Lot in Temple, Texas. I had some great COD (4 pieces got an extra one) they cooked it perfectly the best I have had in a long time. I've had On the Hook a few times over the years when their food trick is nearby. It's a pretty good option if you're craving fish and chips because not a lot of places specialize in them. They are more American style with long and skinner fried fish that has a thick batter. That's my main downside is that the fish are dredged with batter and a lot of your bite is breading and not fish. The fries are crispy and good. Tartar sauce tastes fresh as well. I had been dying to try this place. I went with another couple to pick up our food. I ordered fish and chips a medium clam chowder. It was $31! The pieces of fish were tiny. Almost like fish sticks. There was barely any fish at all. The clam chowder had so much dill in it. It was almost impossible to eat. I've never heard of putting dill in clam chowder. I've been frequenting On The Hook for the last couple of years when they are in Plano or near Little Elm. This used to be the ultimate go-to for delicious fish and chips, but the portion of fries has significantly decreased while the prices continue to climb. I'm not sure if certain trucks are being frugal or if this is the new norm, but I don't feel like I get $19 worth of food anymore, and it's been like this for a while now. What a complete disappointment. My wife and I decided to "eat out" by getting our dinner at the On The Hook Fish & Chips food truck. When we got home with the food, we discovered that the ladies on the truck forgot to put any tartar sauce or malt vinegar in our order, both of which my wife had requested. My attention was drawn to On the Hook Fish & Chips (OHFC) on Facebook, when I stumbled upon a post indicating the business would be at the Tractor Supply parking lot in Wylie, on August 22nd. And, being a huge fan of all things Fish & Chips, I committed to giving it a try. The 22nd arrived and I was able to make it to the truck. OHFC is in no way pretentious and comes across as mobile version to Fish & Chips, what the brick and mortar Cane's is to Chicken Tenders. OHFC does Fish & Chips and I would say it does it very well! I ordered - you guessed it! - Fish... and... Chips!! I DID thoroughly enjoy my "meal," but I was definitely left wanting more! Given the size of the fish pieces, I could have likely eaten five or six pieces, but for that I would have been set back more than $25 ((())). For a little more than $16, one receives three pieces of Atlantic Cod and Fries. The fish was fried well and tasted fresh and flavorful. The fries were VERY crispy and very tasty! They just may have been the best fries I've ever eaten, and I'm a snob when it comes to judging fries, so trust me... they are yummy!! I am a little weird, so I ordered extra tartar sauce for to dip them into. Don't knock it 'till you try it! I appreciated the NON-styrofoam "To Go" container which is similar to a very thin egg carton material. Being that the container is basically a paper product it absorbs any steam created by the hot food inside and that means that my food arrived crispy and still hot after my 10-minute drive home. But, the best thing OHFC has going for it is the authenticity of their food. These folks are doing Fish & Chips right! If you have an opportunity to "catch" OHFC, I do recommend you do so, as you will certainly not regret it. As for the cost, just consider it a day to treat yourself to some really good food! Oh! Spent $50.00 on 2 fish meals ( added an extra piece of fish to each meal) yesterday in Aurora Colorado. The pieces of fish were no larger than a fish stick....tiny in fact. Small handful of very greasy french fries. Had the worst heartburn all day, still have it today. We eat there nearly every time it's in our area, last month a bit smaller than usual, prices are higher this month, quality and quantity of food has slipped considerably. Run. Don't walk to some amazing fish! I finally made it to "On The Hook Fish and Chips Food Truck". Truly the best fried cod I have eaten in a very long time. Fresh and lightly battered. Crispy but not greasy. The fries were seasoned fries. If I could change anything it would be the cooking temperature of the fries. Maybe a little hotter to flash off the oil. Loved the slaw. It comes without the dressing mixed. That's an absolutely fantastic idea. No risk of food poisoning AND the customer can season to preference. They include a dressing that's okay. I used a small amount of that and the custom "red" sauce for the fish. Since I was home I added a little olive oil and other seasoning. Bottom line. This is a fantastic meal. I have to say .... I bought the clam chowder but I was too full to try it. Can't wait until tonight. Wish I had more fish to go with it. UPDATE: Ate the Chowder for dinner. It was so good. Smooth creamy base. Many chowders use potatoes as a filler. Not this one. Just enough to round out the soup. The clams were a real surprise. It seems many clams in the south are overcooked and tough. Best fish anywhere! Been eating their fish since 2016 in Wyoming and now in TX! A must try!

I saw that they were coming to Haslet and planned my day off just to try for myself. Even brought a couple of buddies. The line only took a few minutes and then about 15 minute wait for the food. I like that they only have fish and chips on the menu. Makes it easy to decide and gives me a feeling that it will be good. Well, it didn't disappoint. For $15 I got a large portion of fries and three big pieces of fish. Wow!! The fish was cooked perfectly and had a great crunchy outside. Took my first bite and it was all flavor.
