To review, let's first define the rating scale. Let's say a rating of "5" on a steak means the best piece of broiled meat you've ever eaten--such that it is so delicious that you could die in satisfaction knowing it's the best experience you've had. A rating of "1", by theory, means a piece of shoe leather you just chewed and swallowed down with the help of a bottle of A1. The steak I got (two orders, party of 2) would have been a 3.5 star. Since I couldn't give it a 4-star but 3-star is unfair, I had to use other experiential aspects to help solve this. We were surprised that we got a balcony seat secluded with just us. The restaurant was empty otherwise. We enjoyed ourselves and our conversation was pleasant in our own "private" balcony without interruptions until the next group of guest arrived and they were seated right next to us. Wait, there's not any other open table in the ENTIRE restaurant which was empty that night? Literally empty, readers, literally empty. We were the only patron up until this other group. Now both of our groups were awkwardly close to each other and now both of us had to talk quietly. This is a MINUS half star. We ordered sauteed mushrooms and their blue cheese potatoes. The mushrooms were over sauteed and over seasoned. The mushroom was very saucy--tasty, yes, but deeply salted. The food was served on a plate and brought to the outside. Within 5 minutes the food got cold. At the end of the dinner I asked the server why didn't they consider hot plates. The answer was a logical one (made sense, without going into great detail) but should have been re-considered. But for the price of the dining experience (revealed later), I would expect much more out of the restaurant. Although I couldn't fault the restaurant, the over done, over salted mushroom was a MINUS half star in my opinion. The Blue Cheese potato was otherwise perfect in both taste, texture, execution, and temperature--except it got cold after 5 minutes as well. Once again, a hot plate would have kept the potatoes for another 5-10 minutes extra. Sometimes that extra 5-10 minutes is all you need--and makes all the difference. I'd give a PLUS half star for the well-executed potato. The steak was cooked well but the server make one critical error: would you like seasoning or salt on your steak? This was critical. This is the same as if a patron asks for A1. A well seasoned, well-prepared, high-end restaurant does NOT need A1--and for that matter, there'd no need to season, salt, or otherwise adulterate the steak. A deduction should have been taken here BUT the serve staff was extremely attentive, polite, friendly, and overall added to the experience. Nonetheless you could argue the attentiveness given that the restaurant was literally empty at that time. Dessert and wine were both excellent. The seating/ambiance was also excellent. Now comes the final conclusion. Given the actual steak received, the sides, the staff, the location, experience, and now--the price. The aforementioned dinner for two was $200. The expectation out of a $100 dinner, $150, and $200 would be slightly different. At the high-end one would expect a perfectly executed mushrooms, potatoes, steak, temperature retention, ambiance, staff knowledge, and follow through. Now don't let price deter you from trying. I am all for restaurants that aren't afraid to ask for $200 dinner but I challenge them "bring it" to earn their rating. Thank you. read more

Went to Omaha Prime for my 50th birthday. What an experience we had. Took my wife and 2 sons to the restaurant. We ordered the Bone in Strip, Filet and Ribeye they were cooked to perfection. If you order the potato be ready to eat a football it is huge. The sides are incredible as well, dont over order the sides they are family portions. We ordered the bacon wrapped quail breast, the appetizer is spot on and is a must have when visiting. Service is above and beyond the call a gentlemen with a purple tie came by to make sure all is good, it happened to be the Owner Mo. I saw him walk to each table to make sure the experience is just as good. I have eaten here several times over the last ten years and I don't know what has happened. It has turned into a joke. The last three times I have had a terrible steak (not cooked to the asked temperature) and it is just a cheap steak house with a high price. Rental seats that are dressed up by covers, and many fold out tables. I was there tonight and I saw the owner go over to a table that was just vacated wipe his hand over the table cloth three times and set the new glasses down on it and re seat. I had a business meeting here. The cut I had was the 14oz New York. It was amazing. The sides we had were: blue cheese potatoes=EXCELLENT, Asparagus=ALWAYS a winner, Mushrooms=WORTH FIGHTING OVER, we also ordered a few appetizers: crab cakes were HUGE and none left, the beef satays were excellent, the spinach salad was a spinach salad, and the soup was impressive. Our server was over the top, very sophisticated and when paying over $100 a head a sophisticated and helpful server is a must. I've eaten here 20 times. Not sure if people are talking about the correct place when saying the meat isn't good. The filet is amazing. Atmosphere, wine list, service I can say aren't always perfect. But, you come for the steak and it is aged perfectly. Cut with a fork, flavorful, tender decadent. Maybe I've just lucked out 20 times. Had clients there two times in the last month and they each said it was the best steak they had eaten. The service is excellent , not like when you go to other fancy places and feel judged or like they are snooty. Sadly this restaurant is very expensive for mediocre food. Steaks -without sides- run $30 and up. The sides are $6 and up and -of the three we tried- mediocre at best. The steak was good but a bit overcooked (after our waiter told us the steaks tend to be on the rare side). The appetizers are poor: small, expensive salads and a very salty French onion soup. Had an absolutely exquisite meal here last night, celebrating a special birthday. The steaks could not have been more flavorful and were cooked to perfection. The bernaise sauce was the only thing that could have possibly made this perfect steak even better. I loved every bite. The baked potato side we shared was also cooked perfectly and tasted better than any I've ever had. The service was excellent and the owner greeted us warmly as we dined. I was extremely unimpressed with the food. I am not a picky eater but nothing about the meal was remarkable. I have been more impressed with meals that I have cooked at home than the meal I received at Omaha Prime. Once you order your main dish and add on the sides the meal is quite expensive, at least $35 per person. If I am going to spend that much on food I expect to be impressed. Was here on saturday night for late dinner. Mo accommodated me and my 3 buddies right at closing. We had rib eye steaks and KC strips and we're all satisfied with excellent pieces of beef. Quality seasoned and cooked perfectly. For sides we thought creamed spinach and the truffle potatoes were top notch. Omaha Prime was gracious enough to stay open late for our large group (25-30). Meals are priced ala carte. Great selection of steaks, but on the higher priced realm (e.g, 8 oz. Filet mignon approx. $28, wines $16 and up per glass). Major complaint was the establishment's unwillingness to allow separate checks. Only one bill per table. This was not clearly communicated to the full group which caused severe complications when trying to settle the tab. Somehow the management could provide each person with a receipt if desired but they couldn't run more than one credit card per table. Really?!? It's a simple machine to run the cards through! And then the manager had the gall to say they couldn't make change for those who had cash. 2-3 stars for food, 4 stars for the kindness to stay open late for us. However, management's intransigence on the billing end brings it all down. It'd be half star overall if I could. read more

Of course when in Omaha you must eat Omaha steaks. We hit Omaha Prime our first night in town for the CWS's game. I had filet which was a melt in your mouth steak. My husband ordered the NY strip since it was advertised by server as aged. The steak was very tough and my husband was very unhappy with the quality. We mentioned it to our server and he apologized in every way possible. Took care of the steak with cooking my husband a ribeye to his liking. The owner came over and apologized and the customer service we saw was so impressive that the experience was an awesome one. Also the sides we ordered were amazing. I enjoyed one of if not the best steak dinner I've had. The atmosphere was down to earth while exhibiting the amount of class you would expect to see in a high scale restaurant. The server was very attentive without hovering. She showed good knowledge of the wine list and menu. She was very helpfully in picking out the best steak for my meal. The owner was gracious and made himself available stopping by the table to introduce himself and check on the service. We had a party of ten Saturday night. Service very poor, steaks mixed up so we had to switch with each other to get the right one. I had relatives in from both coasts who were so excited to have good Midwestern steak. Since we were staying in the Old Market, we chose Omaha Prime based on location and the recommendation of the hotel staff. (Why we didn't look this up on Yelp is beyond me.) Our first clue that the evening was going to be sub-par was that it was so easy to get a table at 7:30 on a beautiful Saturday night. The place was vacant with the exception of two other parties. Entering on the first floor - the decor is borderline creepy. Over-suffed everything in dreary surroundings. Very forced and trite. You have to go upstairs for dining (and then back downstairs to use the restroom). After a couple rounds of drinks - and figuring out that all the sides were served family style - not cool if each person wants something different - we all settled on steak choices and a few sides. Two of us ordered the Kansas City and two ordered the bone in fillet. The steaks were ridiculously big - but we would rather have had quality rather than quantity. The KC cuts were under-cooked and extremely grisley. There were no large un-stringy portions. The fillets were more under-cooked chunks of meat with bone attached. Again, a nice traditional steak would have been great. The sides - were just plain awful. Bacon brussel sprouts were bitter, overcooked, mushy and cold. The baked potato was the size of a men's size 13 shoe, dry and grainy. The Blue Cheese potatoes were dry and pastey. All the sides truly tasted like they had been left over from the night before and warmed up a second or third time. Once a couple of the steaks were sent back and returned with SLIGHT improvements in the doneness, the whole evening had lost it's rhythm. It's no fun sitting there with no food in front of you while you encourage the rest of your party to go ahead and eat. We mentioned our dissatisfaction to our waiter (owner) who comped us after dinner drinks as a peace offering. By then we were just tired if the whole experience. Asked for a doggie bag in which I brought home a couple pounds of high priced dog food that even my dog has a tough time chewing. Overall - NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY OR THE HIGH PRICES. I was in town on business and asked for recommendations of steakhouses in the vicinity of my hotel. Omaha Steakhouse was one of the places suggested. I had the 18oz prime rib along with mushroom and broccoli side dishes and the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was nicely presented with very good quality cold Lotus. The prime rib was nothing special. Not good at any price but in this case you spend a lot to get a stringy, salty steak. The staff is nice enough but that does not make up for the disappointing food. We had a salad, poor, tomatoe basil soup, very good, New York Strip, nasty, and hasbrowns, terrible unless you like salt, salt, and more salt. Steaks will run about $40 plus sides. While the dining room has a nice atmosphere in the modern style, I have been to cheaper places with a nicer dining room. Additionally, the bathrooms were run down, not acceptable for this price point. On to the food. Bread served pre meal was bland. With the dish came rice. The rice was dry. So highly recommended. It's unfortunate that there are poor reviews for this restaurant that might influence guests. My boyfriend and I went on a date to Omaha Prime tonight and it was simply fantastic. We started with calamari which was hot and fresh, not overly breaded or chewy. Next I had French onion soup that was to die for, and he had the Omaha Prime salad which was also delicious. These were accompanied by warm dinner rolls and butter. The server had brought out a display of beautiful a la cart steaks that were in addition to the steaks on the menu. I ordered a dry aged KC Strip, and he had this massive tomahawk steak that he could not pass up. For sides we ordered garlic truffle oil mashed potatoes and bacon sprouts. Everything was cooked perfectly and brought out in a well-timed fashion. Dessert was a s'mores lava cake and coffee. I was very pleased that this restaurant was willing to accommodate my vegan diet. There was a vegan option at every level. For starters there was a great salad with avocado and fresh greens. The entree was good though I ended up feeling underwhelmed. It consisted of two quinoa vegetable patties that looked like grilled veggie burgers from the freezer. On the side was some broccoli and wild rice. To garnish there was some warm marinara-style sauce to dip the patties in. This really helped with the taste and texture since they were rather dry. Overall, I felt a little less excited about my meal due to the caliber of the meat-centered entrees. I understand this isn't a vegan restaurant in the slightest and appreciated the thought, though I thought being charged similar to my steak eating partner for less than half of the substance was a bit off. I stopped at four stars only because everybody assumes a five star review is written by the chef and/or owner. Omaha Prime is delightfully deceiving from its11th Avenue entrance. At first, I thought they were closed because there were no customers on the first floor. (We kept walking and found a sign directing us to the 2nd floor - and that's where the magic happened.) I grew up in Chicago when we still had the Union Stockyards, so I'm pretty discerning when it come to meat. My wife had the bone-in filet (highly recommended by our server - Shannon - who is the bomb) and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The atmosphere in "the passageway" was very much like dining off a palazzo in Italy, or beach-side along the South of France. Perfect 10's for both bread and circuses here. I did not realize that the restaurant has a Persian chef until I tasted the lamb, and it was better than prime rib! I could tell the chef had to be from East or South of Italy. The Bleu Cheese potatoes were a great accent to the richly flavored meats. Desserts were scrumptious. A bee-hive during the business week, it was pretty deserted on Friday night. I told our server - based on the small crowd - I kept waiting to see which course "sucked" to account for the open tables. It never happened. Each one was better than the last. A real gem that no visitor to Omaha should miss. read more
