A few friends and I went to check out Marrow for the first time and were highly impressed. There was lots of seating variety and the inside felt like a classy bistro. Our waiter, Zane, was amazing. He was super kind and helped guide us in the right direction when deciding what to eat and drink. He even offered a new mocktail he was working on that tasted just like a watermelon jolly rancher (no name yet), yum! The menu had lots of gluten free options to choose from, which I really appreciated. The shakshuka was excellent and a super yummy, fun experience. It tasted almost like a creamy eggy, bean dip. The Sandhills chokecherry mocktail was fruity, and sweet which paired beautifully with the dish. I definitely want to come back again to try more of the menu. My overall experience here definitely was one of the better brunch experiences I've had in a long time! read more

The soup of the day (Corn Chowder) may have been the worst bite of the year. If you find yourself at Marrow on a Sunday, do not overlook the Sunday roast special. it's a commitment and absolutely worth it. I had the eight-ounce herb-marinated leg of lamb with a fig diane sauce, cheddar au gratin potato, creamed spinach, and a Yorkshire pudding. It is a serious, generous plate of food that feels pulled straight from a proper British Sunday table. For everything you get, the price is genuinely reasonable. The smoked old fashioned caught my eye on the cocktail menu and I couldn't say no. It was well made and a fun, smoky take on a classic. That said, I'll be honest -- I have a few other spots in town I'd rank a touch higher for old fashioneds specifically, so manage expectations there. Still worth ordering. I tried Marrow for the first time today and it exceeded all my expectations! The restaurant is beautiful. The decor is homey yet elegant, and really timeless. We were taken care of by Zane and he was fantastic! He was incredibly personable, accommodating, had great insights about the food, and had a wonderful energy. We ordered mocktails- I started with the Blood Orange Spritz, and then Zane told us about a mocktail he makes that was essentially a watermelon sour, and I am SO glad he told us and I got that as well. Both drinks were delicious and refreshing. They were also presented beautifully. I absolutely love when a restaurant takes the time to make tasty mocktails and takes the time to make them pretty too. For food, I got the Apple Butter French Toast. It was honestly a hearty amount of food and I loved every bite. This is easily one of my new favorite brunch spots! read more

My husband and I were so excited to hear of a new restaurant opening in Gretna that is NOT a chain! We had a two week old newborn, so we opted to get takeout from Marrow. He had the short rib lasagna, and I tried the purple potato enchiladas. Both meals had really large portion sizes, which is always appreciated. My husband really liked his meal and was impressed with how much short rib was included. My purple potato enchiladas were good, not great. They didn't had as much flavor as I was hoping for. Always excited to see more restaurants opening up in southwest Omaha! We did a full course--starter, entrées, and dessert. To start, we had the bone marrow. The presentation was fun, and the bread that came with it was spectacular. The entrées were a little less impressive. The prime rib didn't have much of a crust, and my husband's ribeye was a bit too rare for what was ordered as medium rare. The mac and cheese had a Cajun flavor I personally didn't care for, though my husband enjoyed it. Dessert was good--the butter cake with lemon curd was delicious, and the açaí sorbet was refreshing. Service was wonderful. Our waitress was brand new and still learning, but there were plenty of staff checking in, which made for a good experience. Another visit to Marrow! Love having great food and specialty cocktails out here in Gretna. Hubby and I love to try something new every visit and have never been disappointed ... POTATO PANCAKE was amazing! Hubby dove into it before I could get the picture and I don't blame him. For dinner we shared the risotto (HUGE potion with 1/2 pound of shrimp and Spanish Chorizo) I would recommend this as a share dish, for sure. Marrow 5 stars: What a delight!! We went to Marrow on Sunday evening for a birthday supper celebratItion. The entrees on the menu started a round and round debate on what each of us would have. So many of items sounded outstanding. We all agreed we wanted to try the Canoe appetizer - roasted bone marrow, red onion jam, chimichurri served with grilled sourdough. Two of my daughters had never had something like this before and it was an absolute hit for all four of us. For entrees we each ordered something different I had the Sunday Roast (yes, only available on Sundays), a herb-marinated leg of lamb - absolutely delicious, Other entrees ordered were the the dry aged pork chops - described as "best pork chop I've ever had" and oh so flavorful. The lamb chops - exceptionally good and the Short Rib Lasagna, also very good. The ambiance was great - very pleasing and comfortable - dress up or dress down and you will feel fine. A lot of drinks and wines to choose from. The wait staff was attentive and our waiter knew the menu well with very helpful information on the dishes. A handwritten card was given to the person having a birthday - a great touch - with a fabulous dessert. I had heard great things about Marrow so was excited when it worked out for us to go. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer pretty much as soon as we sat down. It was okay. I don't think I would order it again. My husband got a Caesar salad and I had the onion soup. It took a really long time to get them despite our server telling us they would be right out after clearing the appetizer plates. I was not impressed with the onion soup. I'm a home cook, and can make it much better myself. Then we were waiting again for our entrees. It had been well over an hour, and I finally said something to our server. Instead of apologizing, she said that they course food out so it takes longer. I certainly understand courses, and I am the first to say that I hate it when places serve the appetizers and mains basically at the same time. But waiting 20 minutes for the appetizer, 20 minutes AFTER those plates were cleared for the soup and salad, and then another 30 minutes after those dishes were cleared is too long between courses. She walked by our table multiple times completely oblivious to the wait. Unfortunately, my roast leg of lamb was so chewy I couldn't swallow a lot of it. My potatoes and roasted vegetables were good. My husband liked his lasagna. My 2 cocktails were good. But I don't think we'll go back. As a home cook, I expect that when we go out to eat it will be better than what I can make at home. After visiting a few times, Marrow has proven to be a solid restaurant. We have visited for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Their fries are a family favorite. The coleslaw is the best I've ever had. An excellent, unique brunch menu (the mini potato cakes are a must-have). The iced tea has great flavor, not a generic bland brew. Each of our main courses have been well cooked and have great flavor. The only menu item I've tried that was a bit underwhelming was the chicken fingers - they were a bit too greasy and breaded for my liking, but the flavor was still excellent. The waitstaff is also welcoming and helpful. Today I had Kris as a waiter, and he was particularly excellent. Gretna currently has few options for restaurants; most are bar fare or fast-casual. It is a breath of fresh air to have a high quality restaurant that you don't have to drive into Omaha to get great food, waitstaff, and ambiance. read more

Stopped in early on Friday evening to check it out and have drinks and some apps. Highly recommend this place! For cocktails, I liked the walking stick. My wife enjoyed her sage white Negroni. For apps, Rarebit was unique and a huge hit! We enjoyed the place, drinks and staff so much we stayed for the excellent Prime Rib. Regarding the layout. The bar area is comfortable and fun. The main dining space is somewhat more formal but not fussy. The entire place is nicely done. Prices are typical for this type of dining. We'll be back. read more

Very nice atmosphere. The service was not good. When we first sat down, we ordered cocktails and it took somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 minutes to get those. Server did not check on us or ask if we wanted waters while we were waiting long for drinks and had nothing to drink for the first 25 minutes or so of being there. We had a wonderful midweek experience at newly opened "Marrow " Restaurant in Gretna. It's tastefully and trendily decorated with a footprint that lends itself to both quiet dining in the main dining room or more lighthearted around the bar and outdoor patio. A lighting system glitch is being worked on that will soon provide guests with a more soothing dimly lit ambiance to enjoy their evening get togethers. The menu is as fresh and trendy as is its feel, meaning you know that you are dining in a very special place encouraging you to relax and enjoy your evening. I wanted to know how they would prepare an area must for a Nebraska Steakhouse so I ordered the Ribeye. My wife stayed with me in the same lane and ordered the Braised Beef Ribs. As you can probably tell in the pictures both were superbly prepared. The Ribeye was melt in your mouth but while it wasn't seared as is customary in our beef state its flavor was perfectly brought out by whatever method they use. That may be Sous Vide or a Steak Oven, it doesn't matter, it WAS PERFECT! My wife was amazed by the beef rib's presentation, it was a bit intimidating but I assured her that the meat would slide easily off the bone and it did! Perfectly braised and masterfully concocted to give you all of the delicious aspects you expect from beef ribs, a seasoned exterior with a succulent flavorful close to the bone beefiness. Wonderfully prepared. The wine, beer and cocktail offerings are extensive. The Bartender/Sommelier, yes believe me he was both can assist you in pairing the right accompaniment to your meal. I had seen a video on the Smoked Old Fashioned so I ordered it, my wife, stuck on Chardonnay opted to ignore the usual advice of pairing red with beef ordered a Rombauer Chardonnay. Having had it many times she claimed it tasted better than ever and was more unique than before. A sign of having a good time. When it comes to what to expect for prices you will likely come to the conclusion that you are dining in a restaurant that has the word "fine" preceding it. Our experience confirmed it but you should decide for yourself. I believe that you will find the menu offerings to be worth the fine price level but the wine pairings to be above the standard pricing you will find in other restaurants. I suspect that they will adjust the prices as they experience what the market will bear. As you would expect, friendly service was everywhere and without a glitch. Our Waiter was our Bartender/ Sommelier as we opted for seating in the lighthearted section, I think it was perfect for us. His knowledge was extraordinary and it was a benefit and a pleasure to have him as our waiter too. He introduced us to the Son of an owner of an Italian Vineyard Owner who was in the restaurant to help out and to share samplings of his Family's wine, Biscardo Marchese of Veneto Italy. It would have paired beautifully with both of our selections had we not been stuck in our habits. Finally, my advice is to support this new addition to our area whenever you can, our next chance we are going to take in the hors d'oeuvres with a glass of perfectly paired wine, with no habits allowed! read more

The service was bizarre. Just bad and didn't make sense. I will say appetizers came out super quickly. Drinks took forever and they were out of basic beers. Drinks came at least 20 minutes after ordering. Ordering entrees took forever and then even longer to come out. Our group got steaks and everyone comments they were cold. My chicken salad came without chicken. They tried to ask how things were. The chicken came out for the salad but was horrible and old. The place is like a strip mall so not sure how at least an element wouldn't be good. The poor people delivering the food looked stressed. It is weird how something couldn't go right. read more

We had a reservation for five on Saturday, January 31 including guests from MA. Overall it was very disappointed, not only by food quality but service as well, which was poor at best. Dinner items were not provided in entirety eg prime rib dinner -- they failed to provide the baked potato and Yorkshire pudding. A family side, which was ordered at the waiter's suggestion, was not provided either. When we indicated the shortcomings -- no apologies from the waiter. Discussion with the manager led to a drink being complimentary. The food quality was generally poor -- the trout was fishy, fishy, fishy lacking any freshness. And the prime rib was tough, the lamb chops lacked seasoning and were way overcooked. I suggest you avoid this restaurant, especially given the high price point. read more

Ambiance was great--appreciated the dividing wall in there to cut down on noise. The high ceilings were gracefully adorned in outdoor string lights, making it feel more out doors than industrial. Kids menus were there and our kids had the chicken fingers which were enormous, and the French fries were to die for. Marrow was incredible! Gretna has been needing this type of dining solution for years. My wife and I went for a nice dinner without kids as they ended up with last minute plans. The vibe was nice and it was quiet. Very clean. Service was on point. Actually sat at the bar as we didn't make reservations (again, very last minute) but service was consistent and great with recommendations despite also slinging drinks for everyone else in the place. FOOD! Ordered the Pinsa for a starter and then both had a salad to start. My main dish was a Filet. It was cooked perfectly and the balsamic bone marrow butter was the perfect touch. I tried the Cajun Mac as a side dish. Very good. Perfect balance of spice. If I had to find one thing to complain about, the Mac was a bit runnier than I'd like. BUT, taste was great and that is what matters most to me. Wife had the Short Rib Lasagna... wow! Absolutely perfect! The flavor, the texture, the presentation. Fantastic dish! For dessert we had the Vanilla Crème Brulee. One of the best I've ever had. The caramelized sugar on top was perfect and the dessert itself was so refreshing and light. Which was ideal considering I really didn't NEED it. But sure glad I did! To go alongside my desert I had the Carajillo. Great compliment! If you like an espresso martini, you'll love this! Worst dining experience we have ever had. This was our second visit. We came the first week it opened and was okay, but decided to give it another chance. We taught ourselves a hard lesson tonight. Not every place deserves a second chance. We ordered dirty martinis to start. Returned them upon arrival when they looked like lemon drops and were half poured. We did taste them again, against our better judgment and they were garbage. We moved on to an appetizer. Ordered the "Marrow." It was a coagulation of goo. Literally stuck to the roof of our mouths and the bread was burnt, yet cold. We then ordered a bottle of wine as we knew this was something they couldn't possibly mess up. I ordered the Prime Rib. Which ended up being sold out and my husband ordered the Paella. I then ordered the Short rib and risotto special. The only thing special about it, was it was inedible. My husband's paella was worse. Don't even ask about the salads. On a positive note, if you're looking for a hot sourdough roll and margarine, they're your place! Oh, to add insult to injury, we thought they comped our bottle of wine as we ate nothing only to be presented with that bill separately because they forgot to add it. read more
