Visited 801 Chophouse for the first time and the experience and food did not disappoint. Their steaks were as advertised - one of the best we've had! Service was outstanding! Our waitress, Sarah, explained all the necessary details to us as newcomers. She was attentive gave great advice from what she thought would be best for us after we shared our likes and dislikes. This is a great place for families or if you are visiting the area and looking for a great steak meal, this is the place.

I asked Chat Gpt which steakhouse in Omaha would be best recommended to someone from Chicago. 801 was one of four locations to come up and after visiting, I gotta agree with AI. It was superb. Every detail of our dinner was perfection. Service was attentive, but not overbearing. Friendly and accommodating. I don't think I could have ordered anything I'd dislike at this restaurant, but I did go with the petite filets topped with scallop and shrimp. Cooked exactly as requested. I kid not when I say 801 uses the highest quality beef, as well as, aging them in house. Another reason we chose 801 was the appeal of their sides compared to other local steakhouses. The baked potato was huge and the creamed corn needs an honorable mention as it's all I've been dreaming about since. If you want a location to impress guests, or the most difficult critics - 801 will not let you down.

I came in with a group of 10, and we had reserved a small private room, which worked great for us. Our server was a long time back, and did a fantastic job, taking care of us. When I asked if there was an espresso martini on the menu, she said they can come up with one, and four of us ordered this and absolutely loved it! I am personally not a fan of high price steakhouses, as I'm not a huge steak connoisseur and can't justify the price take. This meal was good, but in my mind was not near worth the price tag that came along with it. I enjoyed the Spencer, which came with one piece of shrimp, and one scallop -- this was my favorite part by far! Steak was cooked pretty well, one perfectly medium rare, and the other about medium, when I ordered medium rare for my steak. The sides all tasted great, mac & cheese and creamed corn for our favorites. The absolute best taste, which was a worthwhile value in my mind was the cheesecake we got for dessert! This was fantastic, although I wouldn't come back for a stake meal here, I would definitely stop in for dessert and maybe a drink. Unfortunately, our server did overcharge us, as we tried to make things easier on her by paying with one ticket, and analyzing this the next morning at home. We were supposed to get a free dessert for the event we were celebrating, and this was charged on the ticket. There were other minor discrepancies. Not a huge deal, but I would recommend taking a look at your ticket before you cash out here.

You're in Nebraska. You're in a state that raises lots of beef. So you expect great steaks. Sadly, there's only a few places that truly serve "great" steaks in Nebraska. 801 Chophouse at the Paxton is one of them. In fact, for me, it's right at the top of the list. When you arrive at the Paxton and enter the front lobby of 801 Chophouse you immediately realize that this place is about tradition, this place is about high class dining, and this place is about steak! As I usually do, I ordered their Wet Aged New York Strip, medium rare, seasoned only with salt and pepper. What I receive every time I order this is a thick cut (easily 1 1/2 inches or a bit more) of perfectly Prime Beef, seared to perfection on high heat, and served hot on a very warm plate. So many places fail on steak, because they cut it too thin, fail to sear it properly, and then throw it on a cold plate. It's the attention to these fine details that sets 801 Chophouse apart from most of the rest. Service is always very good. The servers at 801 know their menu, intimately, and can describe the preparation of every dish to assist you in your selections. They are trained to listen well, to be attentive, but not intrusive, and to focus on your enjoyment of the dining experience. This night was no exception. We added another one of our favorites - the crispy plate of hash browns with cheese and Haricot Verts with Onions. The Pan Seared Scallops, beautifully presented, were also buttery and excellent. Another great night at a GREAT steakhouse - 801 Chophouse at the Paxton!

First time at this restaurant while visiting in Omaha. We had a fantastic experience, our waitress was very knowledgeable about each cut of meat and explained them all. The food was great, I had the salmon and it was full of flavor! The meal was well paced, and we enjoyed our time very much.

What a huge disappointment. With a beautiful restaurant downtown, staff dressed in green jackets reminiscent of yesteryear, and the extensive time and effort put into telling us all about the meat, the grill, and the aging process... I take no pleasure in saying that I've had a better steak at Texas Roadhouse. The steak was basically flavorless. I couldn't believe how underseasoned it was. I won't be receptive to explanations such as, "We don't use salt or pepper so the flavor of the dry-aged beef can shine through," because it simply did not. Parts of my steak were perfectly cooked; however, some parts were overcooked. I just can't say enough about how terrible the seared foie gras was. Like, how?! I love foie gras--I order it almost every time I see it on a menu. Who knew you could make it flavorless with the texture of the "chicken" in a Lean Pocket straight out of the microwave? Not me, that's for sure. The French fries came out hot and well-seasoned, but they weren't crispy all the way through. The carrot cake was good but would have been better without the caramel sauce all over it. I did enjoy my Old Fashioned--it had a pretty good kick to it without being unbalanced or tasting overly strong. The old-school steakhouse vibe is fun, but the overall dining experience was ruined by a loud table of underdressed and seemingly overserved guests who kept shouting and scream-laughing at their own hilariousness. Couple that with forgettable, overpriced, and poorly executed food, and you'll understand why my wife and I were so disappointed. At these prices, the list of better options for dining in Omaha is limited only by the number of establishments that are open.

Come to Omaha for steak and you will probably leave satisfied. Had a hard time choosing dat 1 steakhouse we would try during our brief stay in Omaha. This came out on top. I'm very much a high-end steakhouse foodie. Comparing this place to other high-end steakhouses I've tried across the country, including Hawaii, this is a solid 4 stars to me. Service was excellent. And we came on a weekday for dinner so it wasn't too crowded and loud. This place is more expensive than other steakhouses in Omaha though (Hawaii price levels), but we thought the quality of the food was overall very good. Many reviews here that already vouch for that so wont go into detail. The appetizer and steak selection is vast compared to other Omaha places, which was a big draw for us. they dont have valet parking on weekdays. Maybe Friday though. Gotta find street parking if no valet. Would we come here again? Probably not - there are so many other good steakhouses in Omaha and, honestly, the quality of the steak to me was on par with what we can find in some of the high end steakhouses on Oahu. But it was worth the try.

My mom loves 801, so we went for a nice dinner while we were in town. It was a nice restaurant and felt like a traditional steakhouse. The service was good, and the food was good, but I do feel like overall, it's overpriced. My favorite was the lobster mac n cheese, while my husband loved the au gratin potatoes. We grabbed a drink at the bar prior to our reservation during happy hour, and I will say that the grapefruit drink was SO good. I don't like grapefruit and I loved it.

My colleagues and I were in town this past weekend for a conference and were looking for a nice steakhouse to celebrate after the event. This place was excellent! Everything we hoped for. From the jumbo shrimp cocktail, to the filet mignon and broccolini to the GIANT cheesecake slice for dessert, we were in heaven. They put us in a small alcove to the left of the main bar which was quieter and much appreciated. We also had a tv across from our table which was a nice touch given that March madness finals were going on. While this place is certainly pretty high dollar for dinner, if budget is not a concern, then I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening in Omaha.

Holy smokes folks. Omaha... Omaha... SET! Hut, hut. Get to 801 if you're in town. Kept it simple, 14-ounce New York (wet aged). Temperature was perfect medium rare plus. Seasoned perfectly. Light char. The surprise happiness arrived from a baked creamed spinach side. Wowzer. Ingredients: Grated Parmigiana cheese topper, finished under the broiler, soft and crispy amazingness. For the spinach goo, add flavors of Anissete Liqueur, Fennel Seed, definitely has fresh Garlic somewhere, a little salt and pepper. Diced Shallots. Then add the cream, which was reduced significantly (not a sloppy mess like most you'll have). I'm on the fence if this is the best creamed spinach I've ever had. Pappas Bros. in Texas a close second or maybe first. Service was outstanding. Senor Rick was amazing at the bar. I had the "don't put baby in the corner bar seat" and happy to have it. Run don't walk to the 801 Omaha. Tell Rick Del Mar Dave from LA sent you. Sorry about the bathroom pics but the Mens Room was spotless. Another old school move - ice in the urinals. I'll be back!

The best steakhouse I have been to in a while! I found this place while traveling to the area for work and it did not disappoint! I had the best ribeye I've ever had and the bartender who served me was very friendly. A very cool place to go to! The bar was beautiful and has a huge wall of Ryes and Whiskeys.

Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

Having just got to town and hungry for lunch I walked a few blocks to Block 16. I came because I…read moreread amazing reviews about them and saw they won numerous awards. I also checked out their menu and noticed it was definitely a unique, interesting menu. Upon walking in, there was a line backed up to the door and I waited in it about 15 mins and it didn't move one person, but I used this time to check out the menu and decide what I wanted. After noticing the line not moving and the cashier in heavy discussion with the family that was there placing their order, I felt it might be best to use their online ordering for carryout pickup instead. While doing this, the line moved up once and I suppose that next party had questions too and of course, plenty of time was spent answering those questions. This might seem like good service, but when the line is that long, either have more people there taking orders or use a kiosk for those of us who don't need to ask questions, or remind guests that there are many others in line (probably after the first 5 mins of discussing the menu) and the line needs to move up. After I placed my order, it told me it was accepted and gave me a time range of when to expect my order. I sat down and waited until the end of that range, which was only a few mins, and then went back up to the pick up area to ask about my order. The lady working was very friendly when I explained what I did. She gave me a number and told me she'd bring my order out, she also gave me the drink I pre-ordered. A few mins later, she brought my food out. I looked around to notice that people who were waiting for food prior to me still hadn't gotten their food. I'm not sure if it's always this slow in there or if it was busy because there's a conference in town. Opening the clamshell that my food was in - I noticed a beautiful sandwich and fries. The fries were piping hot and crispy and tasted great. The sandwich looked really nice, but when I went to pick it up, I noticed the entire bottom was soaked in grease and their hot sauce that was on the chicken. So, I fork & knifed this meal. The flavors of all the parts of the sandwich together were nice, just wish I could have picked it up without being a mess. If I ever returned, I'd get something different.

The rice bowl with salmon was $24 and my sandwich was $22. The wine selection was good, and they had a decent hard alcohol array as well. The chicken & waffles is my go-to for each visit, and they have many types of delicious sides to choose from, with my favorites being the biscuits & berries, goat cheese grits, and also the fried green tomatoes. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. I do want to like this place, and I do to an extent but again the service is always unpredictable. I'd still say the food is worth coming here to see how it goes.

Their rotating cocktail menus are one of my favorite things about this spot -- each one has its own creative theme, and the current Halloween menu is such a fun touch. On my most recent visit, I tried the Poltergeist and the Bahama Rita on the recommendation of the bartenders -- both were absolute hits. The drinks here are always beautifully crafted and well-balanced, with a lot of thought behind the presentation and flavor combinations. My only complaint (and it's a small but sad one) is that they no longer serve entrées. I miss when Mercury had a full food menu -- their pasta and burger were truly underrated. These days, you'll only find light bar snacks, which pair well with the cocktails but don't quite replace a meal. Still, for creative cocktails, a stylish atmosphere, and great service, Mercury remains one of the best spots downtown.

I think they open at 5, so I told myself I'd come back at 5 and I actually did. The food was really good, you can tell from the picture lol. The service was great and everyone was super nice. The place looked nice too. It would've been better if the curtains were open though. I like when the sun hits my skin when I sit by the window.

Actually, we enjoyed our meal and service so much we had dinner there twice. First off, the restaurant is really well designed inside. It's a really contemporary space with a great vibe. The service is exceptional (for dinner) and they go out of their way to take care of their guests. Then comes the cocktails, which were also quite excellent. And they have an extensive (VERY extensive) wine list! Impressive. The food is also (mostly) excellent. We dine in fine restaurants all over the world from Chicago to Paris to Tokyo and London and the food here was top quality, prepared exceptionally, and really delicious--largely due to their wood fire oven. I hadn't seen an oven like this since Grant Achatz's Roister/Fire in Chicago. I was very impressed. We started with Wood Fired Oysters, which were delicious. Their house corn bread and honey butter were also quite good. I normally don't care for corn bread but this was a really nice accompaniment. My wife and I shared the ribeye and truffle cava mac and cheese. Both were very good. On our second dinner we had Omaha Farmer's Board, a very good charcuterie and meats appetizer. But the Ricotta Agnolotti was our only complaint to this truly exceptional restaurant. The pasta dish felt like it was trying too hard to be fancy. A parmesan foam on top was cold, brining a nice hot dish down. The overall look of the plated dish was "overfull diaper." Not appetizing. The creme brûlée was very good. Overall, highly recommend this place as a steakhouse with an incredible wood fired grill. This place should be busier than when we went, to be sure. It deserves attention and it deserves to be recognized as one of the top restaurants in Omaha.
