WOW, an amazing Bday meal with new friends! Sullivan's is a top-tier Omaha restaurant with a quaint feel and decadent ambience. Expect a high-end Steakhouse experience, great service (shout out to Darryl) both table-side and at the bar - so worth it, especially for a celebratory event!! Overall, a 4.5+ rated evening for me; expect to pay $50-100pp with apps, entrees and shareable sides. Reservations recommended! Tonight the group shared 1/2 dz. Oysters that were so fresh, tender and delicious! We also tried the Angry Shrimp, also tasty and excellent to share. For entrees, everyone ordered Steaks that were cooked perfectly! Some added a Lobster tail and Oscar style enhancements (pricey but a treat). For sides, we tried Lobster Mac-n-Cheese, Au Gratin Potatoes, Risotto , Sweet Potato Casserole and Fresh Creamed Spinach - ALL fantastic to eat and share! Several of us came here for a work dinner on a weeknight... They were dead, so seating for our group of 5 was quick. Logan, our server in the lounge area was great and friendly. He did a nice job paying attention to our party. We started with a round of drinks and he made and brought those to us pretty quickly, and they were decent. Next up were some appetizers, the bacon was decent. We liked the flavor of it. I started with a mixed greens salad and it was decent. For our entrées, Logan told us about their specials and I chose their Cajun rib eye with shrimp/ We also opted for several sides, one of them being the crab fried rice. Eddie V's crab fried rice is incredible and though my expectations weren't as high as what I would get at Eddie V's, this crab fried rice was so flat, boring, and bland. It was like they took boiled rice, put some vegetables in it and put crab on top - Definitely no resemblance of being wok'd nor fried. For my Cajun rib eye, I ordered it medium rare plus and when it came out they asked me to cut the middle to check it - As soon as I did, all me and everyone at the table saw was gray. It was definitely way overcooked. The server immediately said he'd take it back and get another one made. Well, I ended up not getting my entrée until after everyone else was finished with theirs. When it did come out, the temperature was decent, the flavors were good - but it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. Also, the texture of the steak was that of a beef that was lower grade than prime. We had bar bites with friends before going to a concert downtown. The crab cake sliders were amazing. This time around the shrimp egg rolls weren't all that great and were really salty. Our 1st batch of fries that came with the sliders were overcooked. Hence the 4 stars! They did bring us out a fresh batch of fries but by then we had eaten our other food. I really hate leaving such a poor review, but I unfortunately quite a poor experience at this Sullivan's. My dad, brother, and I were doing a road-trip from Madison, WI, to the Bay Area in California and we had a reservation here for Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, even though we had a reservation, we got seated 45 minutes late. And when we did get seared, instead of apologizing, the host turned to my brother and asked him to take his winter hat off. I understand that it was a nice steakhouse in a dress code but after waiting that long it was quite frustrating. When we got seated, our waiter came and although he was very nice, he didn't know any of the answers to our questions about the set menu that they were providing that day. That was also frustrating for such a high caliber place. The food was also unfortunately very mediocre. The mashed potatoes were dense, the turkey was dry, the cranberry sauce looked store bought, and the stuffing was completely flavorless. I did enjoy the sweet yam casserole though. The one thing that I did appreciate was they did make me a special batch of Brussels Sprouts without the bacon that were also very good. Even though there was a bit of a miscommunication about it and it came late, it still meant a lot that they would do that for me. All in all, getting seated so late definitely out a damper of the night, but some of the I professionalism and unwillingness to apologize for the experience as well as the mediocre food made this an all together unfortunate experience. read more

The hostess/waitress/and the rest of the staff were great - I thought it was a very nice touch that because of my birthday they gave me a birthday card as well as a free dessert. A few things were a bit odd to me and had not been for the staff, I would leave a 3 star review 1) it took a while for steaks to come out and while yeah apologized for the wait, the place wasn't that busy, so I'm not really sure why it took so long. 2) one of our steaks came out rare instead of medium. when they bring you the steaks, they ask you to cut it in half and check the temp. Not sure if they use a meat thermometer or something similar but it seems that this would be a better solution? My wife wanted to take a picture so she didn't cut her steak immediately and until the waitress came over, took it back, it was likely 15 to 20 minutes until my wife has it back, so not ideal. and part this is on us because we likely should've just taken a picture after. read more

Best steak in Nebraska! The bone-in ribeye cowboy cut is immaculate. The way they cook it will make sure it's juicy during your whole dinning. One note for first comers is the sides are very large and meant to be shared so keep that in mind. The service is very attentive as well. 10/10 read more

The only nice thing I can say is they were open on Thanksgiving. We sat 30 minutes after our reservation, our appetizer order was changed from jumbo shrimp to beef Wellington. Steak was ordered med rare, came out med well and then upon remake (which I said wasn't necessary) it came out raw to rare. Lastly, the dessert which was supposed to be crem brûlée was soupy. (Table behind us was cussing as they had been waiting 20 minutes for their dessert) Spent over 200 on a meal that was disappointing food and service. The entire restaurant including employees seemed unhappy. Hearing complaints and the staff saying we served 700, the better idea go for quality and not money next time. read more

My server Bitly was an amazing, observant, and perfect friend on my solo deluxe lunch today. I mentioned I was having some trouble deciding between beef and seafood and upon deciding on beef he reminded me I could get lobster added to my side of au gratin potatoes making a perfect meal for me today. Lunch itself was... udder perfection :) It was my first time having A5 Wagyu steak and they really made it a special experience, even offering me the Japanese certificate of authenticity meticulously describing my meat. The wedge salad was great too and the added bacon was perfectly done. Ending with some great bananas foster bread pudding with house made caramel sauce was amazing as well. Topping it all off with some super espresso got me back to my day with one of the best meals and service I have ever experienced. As for the steak, melt in your mouth is an understatement, my taste buds felt like they were sizzling. The Yakiniku sauce was noteworthy too but I mainly just enjoyed the steak for itself. read more

Went here for the first time for Omaha restaurant week. Really liked the atmosphere and the staff was pretty friendly. It is a nice place and it honestly though an upscale restaurant the chairs and both were so comfortable it felt homey. We ordered a few drinks and their Philly cheese steak eggrolls. These were incredible and glad we listened to the waitress. We both had the lobster bisque. My husband liked it a lot but it was okay to me. There was a bitterness that I didn't care for. I got the New York strip with their Oscar add on and the steak was like butter and the cook was spot on. Husband had the ribeye and ordered a side of Mac and cheese. He also loved his steak but thought the side could use some more salt. My husband got the key lime pie dessert and I got the banana pudding with ice cream. The ice cream was delicious! They are great for hosting large parties. We reserved the basement and had a great time. There was a very long wait between apps and mains, and the salads were mixed up, but other than that, it was great. The only dish I didn't care too much for was the Brussels sprouts. I love this vegetable, but they shredded it in a mandolin, preventing it from getting any caramelized crispness. The highlight for me was the fillet mignon. I'm usually a ribeye guy, but other reviews on Yelp convinced me to give the fillet a try. I'm really glad I did. It was amazingly large (must have weighed the same as the ribeye), but perfectly cooked (medium rare), very tender, and extremely flavorful. I mean, just look at this beauty! read more

Was a little shocked as to how bad the overall experience was. The steak was served on ice cold plates so the steak was luke warm from the first bite. Creamed spinach had a decent flavor but again luke warm. The scallop potatoes were not scalloped but rather cubes and they were hard as a rock, nasty flavor and served cold. They were nice enough about offering to make the food again, but by the time we were able to signal down a random waitress (our waiter didn't check in on us) to report an issue we were aggregated and ready to leave. They comped the two sides, but the check was still $188 with tip $228 so feeling pretty ripped off and pissed off. I'd avoid this place like the plague. read more

This is what a steakhouse should look like! Dark wood throughout the restaurant, white table cloths, and an overall majestic look! Why does this matter... for you wine connoisseurs, it is critically important to serve a good bottle of wine in crystal stemware, as the type of glassware can change the flavor and depth of the wine. This analogy applies also to the ambience of the restaurant. It's critically important. There was three of us for dinner. I had the porterhouse My wife had the salmon and my son had the bone in filet. The filet was stringy and not the buttery cut. The salmon was pedestrian and the plating was simple and boring! My porterhouse I would say was on par with other good steakhouses. The asparagus was prepared improperly the hard ends were left on, not cool! Let's go back to the wine analogy. I ordered a very good glass of wine and it was served in the glassware that was on the table rather than a crystal glass; it's all about the details. Our waiter Logan, was great! He was very good at suggesting and explaining he tentative and professional. I've been to this Sullivans a number of times and each time has seemingly been an improvement on what I otherwise would have said was a fantastic experience anyway. It really does seem to get better as I go. I got the "Sure Thing" which is the best deal you'll find at a higher caliber steak place like Sullivan's. The steak was unreal, cooked perfectly as I ordered (medium-rare cuz I'm not a psycho) the bread was hot out of the oven, the potatoes were delicious. The bisque was creamy and good. The cheesecake was serviceable. I'd recommend the bread pudding. Taylor was an excellent server. Best service I've had so far at this location. I've been to Sullivan's twice - once with a group in a private room for an event and once with my wife and her friend. Both times it was quite good. There is a dress code here, which I kind of like, as it's odd to go out to a fancy restaurant celebrating an event dressed to the nines and seem out of place since everyone else is in shorts and tees. While I do not think all places should have dress codes, it\s nice to have a few that do. Decor: This is not your 1970s restaurant that is dark and outdated. A beautiful interior that is comfortable and romantic. First course: We started with the pork belly appetizer, which was out of this world good. (A+) Second course: I had the shrimp & lobster bisque, my wife the french onion soup, and our friend the wedge salad. All three were tasty and we liked all 3. (A) Steaks: We ordered the house ribeye and 2 8oz filets. All came out well cooked and timed right for our meal. The steaks were quite good and marbled. But, the steaks did not wow me like 2 other steak restaurants in town (see my other reviews). (B+) Service: Service was better than at most restaurants and appropriate for a fine dining establishment. It wasn't stuffy, but was natural and we were well taken care of. (A) Price: This is the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. The cost of a la carte steak restaurants is high. The steaks were good, but not an order of magnitude better than less fancy restaurants. One recently reviewed steak restaurant of similar stature was truly a cut above. (C) Sullivan's is a better steak than you'll find in a chain, for sure. But, it's just not the best in town (2 others IMO are better). My husband and I dined at Sullivans for restaurant week and overall didn't have the experience I would have expected for this upscale steak restaurant. We ordered the restaurant week/prefix menu that came with salad or soup, steak, and dessert. Waitress took our orders and the food came out relatively fast. When the steak came out it was unfortunately not correct, as my husband had ordered an upgraded steak. Waitress apologized that she entered in the system wrong and that she was relatively new. Additionally, the menu listed the steak came with a peppercorn sauce, which it didn't come out with and required flagging her down to get the sauce. We had to wait a bit while they remade one of the entrees but mine already had come out. When it came time for the check was when things became a little frustrating. On the check instead of it being a prefix price, she itemized everything, resulting in a $50 overcharge. We had to flag her down and ask her to correct it. The second time it came out, one was a prefix price and the other was still all itemized, $20 more than what was supposed to be. Had to flag again and ask her to fix it. She said she was not able to get both prefix prices on the check? What confused me was that if she was having difficulty with the system being new, she probably should've asked for help from someone rather than bringing us 3 checks before it was correct. Finally she asked her manager and got it correct, however this back and forth process took about 20 minutes and required us to get up from the table to get her. I understand when mistakes happen at a restaurant but after multiple happen throughout the entire dining experience, it kind of dampens the overall experience. I was told the calamari was excellent and had a Thai chilli kick to it. Now the service is why I wouldn't come back. We arrived at 2:30 for the reservation and literally were the only table yet the service was extremely slow. 3 hours is way to long for an 8 person no modifications lunch. We stopped in last night for the second time! We came last year before our Mama Mia show was cancelled due to the blizzard and we had a wonderful evening with the restaurant practically to ourselves. Unfortunately this experience didn't keep up the hype for us. I placed a reservation during the day and found a table for 7:00. We arrived at 7:02 and were seated right away. Asking for a booth, we ended at the far side of the restaurant in one of the three circle booths. We enjoyed the entertainment of people watching for the long night. Unfortunately, we were not greeted until 7:14. Our server had walked by our table multiple times before letting us know he would be with us shortly, and this theme continued through the night. At 7:45 we received our soup and salad. Lobster bisque is to die for, and my wife especially loves the croutons on her Caesar. After finishing our first plates we received our bread, with an apology for it arriving after and not before. We were told the oven was full of potatoes. 90 minutes after arriving to the restaurant we received our entrees. We both did Filets, mash potato's and ordered macncheese for a shared plate. The steaks were cooked perfectly in the middle but were pretty charred moving to the outside. I would say half of my wife's medium steak (which did look good in the center) was probably well done. Even so, everything was incredibly enjoyable! We both loved the peppercorn sauce and would probably buy a few bottles to take home. We finished with dessert about two hours in. Cheesecake was wonderful. Key lime pie was wonderful. The food was great. The service was slow. Sat at 7:04, we left at 9:15. Thank goodness we didn't have anything going on! read more

Went with a party of 5 for an evening Mother's Day dinner. We arrived and was seated immediately - we did have a reservation. The bus server came over quickly and filled water glasses and shortly after some hot bread and butter. The bread and salted whipped butter was excellent. Our waitress came over about 5 mins later and took our drink orders and asked if we had any questions. The drinks showed up in another 5-10 mins which seemed a bit long, but we kept an open mind. We ordered a couple of apps and finished our first drink before the apps showed up. I ordered the raw oysters (half dozen) and my wife had the grilled oysters (4) which were accompanied by some toasted bread. Both were good and came with cocktail sauce and a bottle of Tobasco. I would have thought that the raw oysters would have a house-made mignonette sauce, but I guess not. After another 20+ minutes, we finally found our server and ordered our entrees and sides. The steaks and chicken came out after a while and were nice and hot. Cooked as ordered. The sides took a bit longer and they ended up forgetting a couple of them. We had ordered quite a few sides for the table so we actually had plenty to eat. The sauteed mushrooms were notably good as well as the sauteed spinach. We mentioned the missing sides to our server and the manager came over and apologized as well as comping all of our sides. So that was nice. Overall bottom line - the place was only 1/3 full at most. There were a lot of servers and workers walking around, but our server was obviously missing - we had to ask for her twice. The manager was super cool, and I respect that. Kudos to him. The food was tasty and well seasoned. Hot and fresh. Not huge portions for the price, but we walked away satisfied. The restrooms were clean and well kept. Everything seemed clean. The lightly was actually a bit bright for the room, but it was fairly early in the evening I guess. The worst part was the slow service for such an expensive dinner. First of all, the bone in filet mignon isn't worth the price: $75. First cut came out well done when ordered Medium Rare. The manager made up for it by getting us the correct steak and comp'd us two free sides, a free glass of wine and two free desserts. Worst part: I inquired about the A5 Wagyu steak. Menu said each 4 oz. Portion was $28 so I ordered 8 oz. The waitress knew darn well she should have asked whether or not I knew the ACTUAL price: $112 per 4 oz. The steak was awesome...but not $224 awesome. Won't be returning. read more

Lots of availability, I was seated right away and a waiter greeted me immediately upon seating. I did the 3-course "sure thing" combo and thought the food came out at a good pace to allow me to finish each course before the next one came out. The cosmo tasted good but was a little weak. The steak had great flavor and was cooked perfectly to medium. The mashed potatoes and gravy were just alright. The bread appetizer was so fresh and soft. Lobster bisque was my least favorite which was disappointing for me because I was really looking forward to it. I thought it was pretty thin and not very creamy like I would expect and didn't have very much meat in it. Not pictured but for dessert I had the bananas foster bread pudding. I took it to go because I was so full from all the other courses. The ingredients were separated so it kept well. I ate it later that night and it was so so good! I had a good experience at Sullivan's for a work dinner recently. We were seated in one of the private event rooms, and our servers were attentive and helpful. The decor was reminiscent of a classic steakhouse. We started with cheesesteak eggrolls and Shanghai calamari as appetizers. The eggrolls were delicious! We then had market fresh greens and shrimp and lobster bisque as starters, and my coworkers quite enjoyed the bisque. I got the medium New York strip which was well-seasoned, tender, and juicy. The family-style sides we got included asparagus, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. We finally got cheesecake and key lime pie as desserts which were pretty nice as well. The one negative aspect of our meal was the limited vegetarian options for some members of our party, which dampened their experience. read more

We ordered two coffees with Bailey's Irish Creme - a shot glass of Bailey's for each cup. The cost? It was $40 plus tip. We finished the coffee and there was some kind of sediment on the bottom of our cups. Gross. In the restaurant, the carpeted floor was littered with paper items and someone's food. Gross. The food was mediocre and like their bar, way, way overpriced. Only street parking and we had to walk a couple of blocks to get there.
