Expect a high-end Steakhouse experience, great service (shout out to Darryl) both table-side and at the bar - so worth it, especially for a celebratory event!! Overall, a 4.5+ rated evening for me; expect to pay $50-100pp with apps, entrees and shareable sides. Reservations recommended! Tonight the group shared 1/2 dz. Oysters that were so fresh, tender and delicious! We also tried the Angry Shrimp, also tasty and excellent to share. For entrees, everyone ordered Steaks that were cooked perfectly! Some added a Lobster tail and Oscar style enhancements (pricey but a treat). I was really looking forward to trying this place. I heard Omaha had the best steaks. If they do, Sullivans isn't serving them. Very unimpressed! Service was VERY SLOW. Server was very friendly so no issues there. Salad was fresh. I ordered the tomahawk and it was a huge disappointment especially given the price. The meat was tough, it wasn't cooked right and I would've been better off with a fillet. There was no reason for them slow service as the place wasn't busy at all. Not sure I would be back. Several of us came here for a work dinner on a weeknight... They were dead, so seating for our group of 5 was quick. Logan, our server in the lounge area was great and friendly. He did a nice job paying attention to our party. We started with a round of drinks and he made and brought those to us pretty quickly, and they were decent. Next up were some appetizers, the bacon was decent. We liked the flavor of it. I started with a mixed greens salad and it was decent. For our entrées, Logan told us about their specials and I chose their Cajun rib eye with shrimp/ We also opted for several sides, one of them being the crab fried rice. Eddie V's crab fried rice is incredible and though my expectations weren't as high as what I would get at Eddie V's, this crab fried rice was so flat, boring, and bland. It was like they took boiled rice, put some vegetables in it and put crab on top - Definitely no resemblance of being wok'd nor fried. For my Cajun rib eye, I ordered it medium rare plus and when it came out they asked me to cut the middle to check it - As soon as I did, all me and everyone at the table saw was gray. It was definitely way overcooked. The server immediately said he'd take it back and get another one made. Well, I ended up not getting my entrée until after everyone else was finished with theirs. When it did come out, the temperature was decent, the flavors were good - but it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. Also, the texture of the steak was that of a beef that was lower grade than prime. Ate here at an 8pm reservation a Sunday night. I must say it makes me want to make another trip to Omaha to experience this restaurant alone! Logan was our server. He was personable, attentive, informative and kind. Blueberry lemon drop was one of the best I've ever had. Appetizers: cheesesteak egg rolls were unlike anything I've ever had. Crab cake (with the slaw! Such great flavor) was a 10/10! Full of meat, and not a lot of extra inside to take away from the delicate crab. Entree of filet w/asparagus and au gratin potatoes. Cooked to perfection, and we enjoyed every bite. Dessert was the peanut butter pie, and it truly may have been the best I've ever had. Would recommend coming here to anyone. We love Sullivan's it's our favorite steakhouse, this time the sides were pretty blah, my husband ordered the cheesy potatoes and were very dry not creamy at all. His ribeye was very tough about 2 inches into the bone and took it home for the dog, I love the southwest egg rolls and they didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is very nice and quiet so you can have conversations. I'm hoping this is a one time fluke because I don't want to spend 250 for a bad main meal. read more

We had bar bites with friends before going to a concert downtown. The crab cake sliders were amazing. This time around the shrimp egg rolls weren't all that great and were really salty. Our 1st batch of fries that came with the sliders were overcooked. Hence the 4 stars! They did bring us out a fresh batch of fries but by then we had eaten our other food. I really hate leaving such a poor review, but I unfortunately quite a poor experience at this Sullivan's. My dad, brother, and I were doing a road-trip from Madison, WI, to the Bay Area in California and we had a reservation here for Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, even though we had a reservation, we got seated 45 minutes late. And when we did get seared, instead of apologizing, the host turned to my brother and asked him to take his winter hat off. I understand that it was a nice steakhouse in a dress code but after waiting that long it was quite frustrating. When we got seated, our waiter came and although he was very nice, he didn't know any of the answers to our questions about the set menu that they were providing that day. That was also frustrating for such a high caliber place. The food was also unfortunately very mediocre. The mashed potatoes were dense, the turkey was dry, the cranberry sauce looked store bought, and the stuffing was completely flavorless. I did enjoy the sweet yam casserole though. The one thing that I did appreciate was they did make me a special batch of Brussels Sprouts without the bacon that were also very good. Even though there was a bit of a miscommunication about it and it came late, it still meant a lot that they would do that for me. All in all, getting seated so late definitely out a damper of the night, but some of the I professionalism and unwillingness to apologize for the experience as well as the mediocre food made this an all together unfortunate experience. read more

My husband and I love eating at Sullivan's we normally go 3-4 times a year. we started out with a margarita and ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls which were so delicious! For dinner I ordered the 8 ounce fillet medium and my husband ordered the bone in ribeye medium well, the sides were the sautéed baby spinach and the white cheddar and bacon Au Gratin potatoes. We received our dinner and as usual they had us cut down the middle and they both looked fine. The potatoes were very dry and not creamy as usual, the bone in ribeye was very tuff and the closer to the bone it was not edible. I didn't care for the spinach found it bland and very earthy tasting. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday night at 6:30 pm. Friday night, and the place is practically empty. No one in the bar. The downtown construction is killing these businesses and makes it difficult to plan staffing. As a result, the one and only bartender was also our waiter and also running food out. My French onion soup was burned on top. I tried to work around it, but ended up sending it back. The onion was in huge chunks, too big for the spoon. Ribeye steak was more medium than it was medium rare. The asparagus was delicious, as was the bisque soup. A few things were a bit odd to me and had not been for the staff, I would leave a 3 star review 1) it took a while for steaks to come out and while yeah apologized for the wait, the place wasn't that busy, so I'm not really sure why it took so long. 2) one of our steaks came out rare instead of medium. when they bring you the steaks, they ask you to cut it in half and check the temp. Not sure if they use a meat thermometer or something similar but it seems that this would be a better solution? My wife wanted to take a picture so she didn't cut her steak immediately and until the waitress came over, took it back, it was likely 15 to 20 minutes until my wife has it back, so not ideal. and part this is on us because we likely should've just taken a picture after. read more

The only nice thing I can say is they were open on Thanksgiving. We sat 30 minutes after our reservation, our appetizer order was changed from jumbo shrimp to beef Wellington. Steak was ordered med rare, came out med well and then upon remake (which I said wasn't necessary) it came out raw to rare. Lastly, the dessert which was supposed to be crem brûlée was soupy. (Table behind us was cussing as they had been waiting 20 minutes for their dessert) Spent over 200 on a meal that was disappointing food and service. The entire restaurant including employees seemed unhappy. Hearing complaints and the staff saying we served 700, the better idea go for quality and not money next time. read more

My server Bitly was an amazing, observant, and perfect friend on my solo deluxe lunch today. I mentioned I was having some trouble deciding between beef and seafood and upon deciding on beef he reminded me I could get lobster added to my side of au gratin potatoes making a perfect meal for me today. Lunch itself was... udder perfection :) It was my first time having A5 Wagyu steak and they really made it a special experience, even offering me the Japanese certificate of authenticity meticulously describing my meat. The wedge salad was great too and the added bacon was perfectly done. Ending with some great bananas foster bread pudding with house made caramel sauce was amazing as well. Topping it all off with some super espresso got me back to my day with one of the best meals and service I have ever experienced. As for the steak, melt in your mouth is an understatement, my taste buds felt like they were sizzling. The Yakiniku sauce was noteworthy too but I mainly just enjoyed the steak for itself. read more

Went here for the first time for Omaha restaurant week. Really liked the atmosphere and the staff was pretty friendly. It is a nice place and it honestly though an upscale restaurant the chairs and both were so comfortable it felt homey. We ordered a few drinks and their Philly cheese steak eggrolls. These were incredible and glad we listened to the waitress. We both had the lobster bisque. My husband liked it a lot but it was okay to me. There was a bitterness that I didn't care for. I got the New York strip with their Oscar add on and the steak was like butter and the cook was spot on. Husband had the ribeye and ordered a side of Mac and cheese. He also loved his steak but thought the side could use some more salt. My husband got the key lime pie dessert and I got the banana pudding with ice cream. The ice cream was delicious! For a restaurant with such a high quality food and expenses, you'd expect high service as well. For me, my mom and sister, that was not, in fact, the case. The hostess was fantastic and super sweet but the server was dry and unenthusiastic. David A. was our server and at first, he was talkative and kind but it seemed as they got busier, he got less caring of our table (our reservation was 4:30 and the restaurant was dead). Our complimentary bread came 40 minutes late as the table next to us got theirs 10ish minutes after they were seated and ordered drinks. They were also asked about allergies, if they have been here before and other interactive questions while we were given nothing of the sort. For a restaurant so expensive, that would be expected. We ordered our food and it took over an hour to receive even though it was ordered prior to it getting busy. My mom had a refill of wine and it took 25 minutes to receive it and we were only asked by our server once for a refill of sodas. He came by 10 minutes after our food was served to ask if it was tasting up to our expectations, as it normally is sooner. He rarely came by and checked up on us as we took a notice to his absence with the food taking so long. Again, the expense on the bill was outrageous for the service we were received. We were all women so it felt almost sexist in a way and we were all dressed properly. Our bill was almost $400 and compared to the service my mom has been received by other places like Charleston, where they refill your drink even if they are only halfway gone. That is deserving of a good tip. What was given was not even close, especially as a first time experience. I've never felt so compelled to get an app and write a review as I do now, especially for a restaurant so high quality and exclusive. The food, though, was amazing. Would've been a more comfortable and pleasant visit with a more professional server. We're all very disappointed. I hope you address this with your server. Don't be a server if you can't serve to any person, despite what you may think, it's what you're paid to do. Looks bad on a well known, expensive restaurant. read more

They are great for hosting large parties. We reserved the basement and had a great time. There was a very long wait between apps and mains, and the salads were mixed up, but other than that, it was great. The only dish I didn't care too much for was the Brussels sprouts. I love this vegetable, but they shredded it in a mandolin, preventing it from getting any caramelized crispness. The highlight for me was the fillet mignon. I'm usually a ribeye guy, but other reviews on Yelp convinced me to give the fillet a try. I'm really glad I did. It was amazingly large (must have weighed the same as the ribeye), but perfectly cooked (medium rare), very tender, and extremely flavorful. I mean, just look at this beauty! read more

Was a little shocked as to how bad the overall experience was. The steak was served on ice cold plates so the steak was luke warm from the first bite. Creamed spinach had a decent flavor but again luke warm. The scallop potatoes were not scalloped but rather cubes and they were hard as a rock, nasty flavor and served cold. They were nice enough about offering to make the food again, but by the time we were able to signal down a random waitress (our waiter didn't check in on us) to report an issue we were aggregated and ready to leave. They comped the two sides, but the check was still $188 with tip $228 so feeling pretty ripped off and pissed off. I'd avoid this place like the plague. read more

Why does this matter... for you wine connoisseurs, it is critically important to serve a good bottle of wine in crystal stemware, as the type of glassware can change the flavor and depth of the wine. This analogy applies also to the ambience of the restaurant. It's critically important. There was three of us for dinner. I had the porterhouse My wife had the salmon and my son had the bone in filet. The filet was stringy and not the buttery cut. The salmon was pedestrian and the plating was simple and boring! My porterhouse I would say was on par with other good steakhouses. The asparagus was prepared improperly the hard ends were left on, not cool! Let's go back to the wine analogy. I ordered a very good glass of wine and it was served in the glassware that was on the table rather than a crystal glass; it's all about the details. Our waiter Logan, was great! He was very good at suggesting and explaining he tentative and professional. I've been to this Sullivans a number of times and each time has seemingly been an improvement on what I otherwise would have said was a fantastic experience anyway. It really does seem to get better as I go. I got the "Sure Thing" which is the best deal you'll find at a higher caliber steak place like Sullivan's. The steak was unreal, cooked perfectly as I ordered (medium-rare cuz I'm not a psycho) the bread was hot out of the oven, the potatoes were delicious. The bisque was creamy and good. I was told the calamari was excellent and had a Thai chilli kick to it. Now the service is why I wouldn't come back. I've been to Sullivan's twice - once with a group in a private room for an event and once with my wife and her friend. Both times it was quite good. There is a dress code here, which I kind of like, as it's odd to go out to a fancy restaurant celebrating an event dressed to the nines and seem out of place since everyone else is in shorts and tees. While I do not think all places should have dress codes, it\s nice to have a few that do. Decor: This is not your 1970s restaurant that is dark and outdated. A beautiful interior that is comfortable and romantic. First course: We started with the pork belly appetizer, which was out of this world good. (A+) Second course: I had the shrimp & lobster bisque, my wife the french onion soup, and our friend the wedge salad. All three were tasty and we liked all 3. (A) Steaks: We ordered the house ribeye and 2 8oz filets. All came out well cooked and timed right for our meal. The steaks were quite good and marbled. But, the steaks did not wow me like 2 other steak restaurants in town (see my other reviews). (B+) Service: Service was better than at most restaurants and appropriate for a fine dining establishment. It wasn't stuffy, but was natural and we were well taken care of. (A) Price: This is the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. The cost of a la carte steak restaurants is high. The steaks were good, but not an order of magnitude better than less fancy restaurants. One recently reviewed steak restaurant of similar stature was truly a cut above. (C) Sullivan's is a better steak than you'll find in a chain, for sure. But, it's just not the best in town (2 others IMO are better). My husband and I dined at Sullivans for restaurant week and overall didn't have the experience I would have expected for this upscale steak restaurant. We ordered the restaurant week/prefix menu that came with salad or soup, steak, and dessert. Waitress took our orders and the food came out relatively fast. When the steak came out it was unfortunately not correct, as my husband had ordered an upgraded steak. Waitress apologized that she entered in the system wrong and that she was relatively new. Additionally, the menu listed the steak came with a peppercorn sauce, which it didn't come out with and required flagging her down to get the sauce. We had to wait a bit while they remade one of the entrees but mine already had come out. When it came time for the check was when things became a little frustrating. On the check instead of it being a prefix price, she itemized everything, resulting in a $50 overcharge. We had to flag her down and ask her to correct it. The second time it came out, one was a prefix price and the other was still all itemized, $20 more than what was supposed to be. Had to flag again and ask her to fix it. She said she was not able to get both prefix prices on the check? What confused me was that if she was having difficulty with the system being new, she probably should've asked for help from someone rather than bringing us 3 checks before it was correct. Finally she asked her manager and got it correct, however this back and forth process took about 20 minutes and required us to get up from the table to get her. I understand when mistakes happen at a restaurant but after multiple happen throughout the entire dining experience, it kind of dampens the overall experience.
