Cottonwood Hotel
Jodi B.

My husband surprised me and planned a dinner here for my 50th birthday. We had an amazing meal! Our server made it a really fun night - very knowledgeable about the menu and doing extra things to make me feel celebrated. A great place to go for those extra special evenings. I love that it's within the Cottonwood Hotel building, as we spent time exploring and taking pictures in the lobby after dinner.

Steak and Truffle Frites

Service is always top tier and the ambiance at the bar with the tree and background of the river is amazing. I ordered the flank steak and truffle fries. Steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were crisp.

The AMAZING asparagus.

The chophouse is an place with an excellently decorated bar , amazingly lighted , place for kings and queens.if you're into meat I recommend filet mignon' it's a amazing steak so juicy and warm, rare is how I think it tastes better on this kind of steak. I also like the service is great I really enjoyed Tony he recommended the bread bord an amazing...well... BREAD BORD. I REALLY REALLY like this place

Low-quality photo, high-quality dining experience! I went with a group of coworkers for a holiday dinner and were able to try many starters, sides and entree options. The vibe was upscale and sophisticated, and the team did a good job serving our large group. The oysters (both broiled and chilled) were delicious. We enjoyed the bread plate as a starter too. But the real star of the show (in addition to the 8oz filet of course) is the Truffle Mac and Cheese! I wish I had taken a better photo of it - all the more reason to go back!

What a cool space! The drinks, food and service were all excellent. I loved the old marble staircase and original tile floors.

Atmosphere: stunning! Tucked in the basement with an old nostalgic field and flare. Passing a beautiful lounge into their main dining room. We had a party of 6 and it was perfect for a nice event. Private yet open. They had additional private rooms if needed. Our waitress was amazing. Sadie made our night very special with introducing drinks and food. Was very professional, checked on us regularly and was just a great example of what service should be. The BEST PART. Drinks, breadboard, food was soo good! The Delmonico ribeye was stunning. The cook was perfect. The cut was excellent. We had the mushroom sides would have been an excellent vegetarian meal. Dessert- recommend their house made ice cream and cheese cake. Compared to some of the classic steakhouse and even the new one slightly out west, this has become my favorite place to go. Highly recommend!

Tomato bisque and a wedge salad

I took my wife out for our birthdays that were this week. Everything was outstanding. The restaurant is on the lower level of the Kimpton Hotel in midtown in an art deco setting. The feel was like an old but very upscale speakeasy. The service from Sayde and the staff was very attentive. The drinks and the food were all excellent. I had the tomato bisque and wifey had the wedge salad. We both had filets, mine had the black truffle butter and my wife added shrimp to hers. The mashed potatoes and creamed corn were over the top excellence! I need to figure out how to make creamed corn like that! We finished with the baked Alaska which was outstanding and should not be missed. Wifey loved the Malbec the old-fashioned was top notch. This place hits a home run! We will be back!

Oh my goodness. There aren't enough words to describe the meal we had at the Committee on Sunday. The service was IMPECCABLE--probably some of the best service in Omaha. From the front of house who sat us and talked restaurants in Omaha and chefs and his history with us to our server Destiny who had such insightful recommendations & was so personable it was like we were having dinner with a trusted friend! I was happy to see the restaurant had a bit brighter lighting than the moodier vibe of the cottonwood room, and it had plenty of different types of seating options. I am obsessed with the chairs we had at our table, my back has never felt better which is a weird note but is a major plus for me. As for our food, we started with the pork belly & the bread board (the breads that evening were a herb/rosemary focaccia and garlic and cheddar bread both were scrumptious). Isaiah and I shared the Chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection! Dave had the airline chicken & cait went with the catch of the day which was the halibut! We got pommes aligot, roasted broccolini with garlic & pecorino Romano, and creamed corn to share and we had some left over! Everyone loved their meals and raved about them all night. This was our last big dinner in Omaha before our move & it definitely ended our time in Omaha on a high note.

Our server Sadie was wonderful and super helpful! The restaurant and hotel are both so beautiful as well. Our food and cocktails arrived with perfect timing and everything was cooked and tasted perfectly. Even the asparagus was perfect and amazing (I have noticed sometimes the veggie sides are sometimes an afterthought that don't get much effort but it was great!). Pricey but you get what you pay for! I had a large amount of leftovers as well. Highly recommend them for a special occasion.

This is the best steak I've ever had. Usually, steakhouses are pretty mid to me. But this one was actually amazing. The quality of the meat was so good and cooked to perfection. Our table all ordered medium rare and it was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. The whiskey strip has a great marinade. The filet mignon had good flavor and was a good size if you usually don't eat too much. Our waitress was nice and explained things to us if we had questions but was slow to come to our table when we were ready to pay. Valet parking is free/complimentary if you are coming to eat at the chophouse. It is quite pricey but if you are looking for quality, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Came to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is good; I love the waiting area (5/5). The service was mediocre (3/5), and the overall quality of the food was excellent (5/5). **Service**: They should be proactive in providing warm towels for customers ordering the seafood platter. I appreciate that they offer warm towels when asked, but unfortunately, they smell bad. It has a scent similar to deep-fried food in old oil, washed without any detergent--. **Food**: - **Chilled Seafood Tower**: 3/3 - **Land, Air, & Sea** (chef's seasonal preparation): MKT 2/3 - **Land**: Venison, medium rare: 3/3. I love it! It tastes like liver, but I really enjoy it. - **Air**: Pheasant: 1/3 or 0/3. The taste is good with crispy skin, but it's really tough; my plate moves every time I cut it. - **Sea**: Crab cake: 3/3. - **Beef Wellington**: 3/3. Perfect medium rare. - **Crème Brûlée**: 5/3.

Butter Cottonwood Butterbrickle Ice Cream

I do rate a lot of "5" stars but I think it is because I get to eat at really great places! However, if I could rate higher for this restaurant, I 100% would do it! When you walk down the stairs from the hotel lobby (I say this because there is another entrance which is street side), everything seems so enchanting. There is a circle var surrounding a glowing tree and you have taken a step back in time. Upon entering the restaurant, there is just a vibe. The courteous and sincere greeting from the host/ess makes you feel like you are incredibly special even in your first visit. The service is immaculate and everyone spends time explaining the menu in detail and exploring what really is the best option for the evening! Now my favorite part, this is the BEST steak I have ever eaten!!! I ordered the scallops and they were excellent with the perfectly cooked creamy polenta but when I took a piece (okay half) of my friends steak, I wanted more! Then we did a thing and ordered everything from the desert menu because why not?! It was a special occasion. Everything from the baked Alaska, strawberry crème brûlée, and cheesecake were delicious but my favorite was the butter bricks ice cream! Don't worry, I will be back and even though the menu changes, I might just get the cowboy steak Oscar style one more time!! Reservation recommended!

Pre-meal: Reservations recommended. Room: Sophisticated, clubby and reasonably quiet. Picture-taking: Dark. Beverages: Nice cocktails and fairly priced wine list. Food: Wide selection of steaks and seafood. First rate king crab legs. Very good Caesar salad. Denver steak (bone-out short rib) is a cut not often seen - mine was aggressively seasoned and definitely undercooked but was cheerfully cooked a bit longer. The end result the 2nd time around was a nicely charred, tender, chewy and beefy piece of meat. Our side dishes were quite good. Dessert was good too. Service: Excellent Price: Expensive Value: Good Summary: Sophisticated high end steakhouse that serves food worthy of the beautiful setting.

How many max can they fit in the private room? Thanks in advance ! 😄

The room that we had was fairly small, and it fit 5 perfectly around the poker table. I am not certain if this is the normal setting for this room, but I don't feel as though there would be much room beyond that. I would call for any larger party… Read more

Something I really liked is that they let you bring food from other places since they don't serve any, which is perfect if you want to hang out for a while. Their drink menu is huge, and the presentation is honestly amazing. When we first got there it was slow, but it definitely got busier as the night went on. We did struggle a bit when it was time to check out because all the servers were running around, so just be ready for that on a busy night. Overall, we had a great time. Drinks are expensive for what you get. I tried their premium old-fashioned, and honestly, it was no better than a standard old-fashioned elsewhere. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing memorable--certainly not at that price point. Service was slow, which was surprising given that it was a quiet night. On top of that, since the bar is in the hotel basement, there's no cell service. The Wi-Fi password I was given didn't work, which made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be. Hard to put a finger on, but let's just say some folks seemed to fit the intended esthetic a lot more naturally than others. You can feel who this place was really designed to make comfortable.
