Fun little pop up! We got lucky and snagged a table pretty quickly, but it was full when we got there around 9 on a Tuesday. They had some very fun themed drinks - my grinch mosa was tasty and I really enjoyed getting a candy cane with it. The decor of course is stellar! Me and my better half stopped by this Grinch pop‑up bar after hearing a ton of buzz, and I'll give credit where it's due: the decor is phenomenal. This bar knows how to throw a party. My first time here was last Fall for the VanderSocial Rules party. It was a warm Sunday and perfect to buy and wear their commemorative tanks. It isn't the largest bar, but it really cozy. Every table was filled and groups gathered shoulder to shoulder. We opted to take our drinks out to the patio. Out back they have a nice sitting area and for the party in the back alley a huge dunk tank. WHAT A FUN TIME! Other times I've been in with girlfriends we always have pretty great service. The bartenders are funny. Drinks are a bit more than some bars on this street, but its a great spot to stop on a bar crawl or Sunday Funday. Blackstone is pretty social, if you're a hipster or at the very least, a liberal like myself. However if you're not so liberal, it can be a bit anti-social. Expensive place to get your alcohol in the Hipster part of town and they sell a lot of craft beers and stuff and also have cocktails and wine. Not somewhere that I go a lot but my friends who live in Omaha come here all the time. They've brought me here twice - the last two times I was in town. Blackstone Social can be a hit or miss for me depending on my mood and current alcohol state. The times that I have been there that I really did NOT enjoy were when I was very sober and trying to talk to friends over the VERY LOUD Saturday night/Friday night crowds. I cannot comment for how loud it gets on a weeknight. One time I asked for a mocktail which never arrived, and all the drinks there are generally too sweet off the cocktail menu for the times that I have been drinking. BS social can get busy, crowded, and deafing on the weekends so if that's the vibe you're looking for (which sometimes you are!) then this is the place for you. There have been events (bach parties, bdays, celebrations) where we were really looking to have a drunken time and this was the perfect location for it. I would say if you're looking for a quiet intimate date or outing with a group then I personally would not recommend this biz. There are other bars and lounges on this strip that can fulfill it (like the secret sister bar downstairs, perhaps *wink wink* https://www.yelp.com/biz/osteria-segreto-omaha). I stood at the front of this line on Friday October 9th for 20 minutes, and watched the bartender Randall let 9 different people in in front of me. Randall was wearing a "Fuck Pete Ricketts" shirt and a "I love people but back the fuck up" mask, in case there was any confusion. If you're trying to go to a nice bar on a Friday night with friends that are 21+, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Randall was opposed to letting anyone in that wasn't his friend. We stopped in Saturday around 1 o'clock & sat belly up at the bar by the open garage style doors-really like the open feel to the streets view! 2 bartenders were busy helping customers, but it only took a few minutes to be greeting & asked what we'd like. They have a nice drink menu & a chalk board with daily specials! I chose the 22 oz. special Maddy Wagon-vodka based & my hubby got the Tech Thirty9Ten-rum mix, both $8 for tall refreshing drink on a hot day! The bartenders are friendly & nice to talk with. There were mostly 21-30 yr old's stopping in long enough to have a drink & shots before moving on. There's a small deck in the back, but the view isn't much. This place is clean & spacious. I've been seeing this place being built for months and now it's finally open! It doesn't have the vibe of a new place; it seems as if this place has been around for years. And that's a good thing! From the cool light fixtures to the open air front window area, the Blackstone Social is a natural fit for the Blackstone District. There are several unique craft cocktails here; well made by the friendly staff. I had the Secretariat which is topped with fresh berries and mint served in a copper mug. There are can and bottle beer selections too; with some local ones (Lucky Bucket, Nebraska Brewing, etc). Phone battery low? No problem! USB ports/outlets are located underneath the bar so you can charge up while enjoying a beverage. I will certainly be back again. read more

Pretty cool bar in a pretty cool part of town. Perhaps the best part is the open air front window that brings the cooler summer and fall temps right to your barstool. They have a few house cocktails. And the couple I've tried have been fine, if not a little too fruity/sugar for my tastes. That's when you order some bourbon on the rocks and sip away -- their spirits list will satisfy just about anyone. This place has really improved recently. I went shortly after they first opened and was not impressed with the service or the drinks, but I liked the atmosphere. However, after a long hiatus I just tried Blackstone Social again last month and had a completely different experience - I've since been back twice for happy hour. At HH they do 25% off all drinks and really cheap ($2 or $3?) domestic beers. But you can get a beer anywhere - come to B.Social for their cocktails! My favorite drink is their Palomaha - grapefruit, lime, jalepeno, and tequila. But if you're more of a bourbon drinker, The Secretariat is pretty good too. Service wise, as opposed to many months back when I gave it a chance, they've got a really good crop in now. The bartenders are friendly, make good recommendations, and are attentive enough without being overly chatty. The clientele on weekday happy hours seems pretty relaxed (weekends seems a lot busier/more crowded and bro-y). Speaking of weekdays, I love that they open at 4 and happy hour starts then, too; it's a nice treat on a summer friday. The only bummer honestly is the lack of food. My friend lost his wallet inside. Maybe someone stole it from him at the bar but bouncer handled it terrible. Problem is when the 4 of us went to look for it the bouncer pushed all of us out very aggressively after we asked nicely if we could search for our friends wallet. He has a tracking device in his wallet which showed it at the bar and never changed. Bouncer really was rude and didn't let us even try to speak to him about the wallet and even threatened to call the police on us, despite us wanting to look around a table for a wallet. Won't be coming back here ever again. Even if someone stole my friends wallet, the bouncer could've let us look around at least without being aggressive. read more

I came here with a group of 4 around 10:30 on a Friday night and it was a madhouse. The ambiance was much more similar to downtown than Blackstone. The small interior was packed shoulder to shoulder with an unusually high concentration of bros for Blackstone and music was playing so loud you had to yell at the person next to you. The drinks were decent and the parts of the bar I could see through the crowd seemed nice. To be fair, this was the first place we went and I wasn't nearly drunk enough for that kind of environment. I can't blame them for having a crowded bar so I will have to go again at a less busy time and update my review. I'm betting that as they hype of this new bar dies down, a bulk of this crowd will move onto the next hip place and Blackstone Social will come to resemble the rest of the neighborhood and relax a bit. read more

We love going to this part of town and we always go to this place! They have pretty good bartenders that can make some pretty delicious mixed drinks. I'll start by saying that, in all honesty, this place really isn't my vibe, at least the open, upstairs portion isn't. We were in on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago and had some beers, and there was really nothing special about it. It really felt no different than your ordinary bar. While I understand it's more of a cocktail place, I'm more of a beer guy, so I would like to see a better beer list. We then went in with a group at about 11pm on a Saturday night, and the place was CRAZY. Music was blaring, and you could hardly have a conversation with your group. We ended up getting a table as folks were leaving towards the back of the bar. For being a cocktail-focused bar, I would say that 90% of the tables in the place had multiple Bud Lights in cans on the table. Like I said above, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not my vibe. I also understand that the bar doesn't have control of what its customers choose to drink. We had one drink, and we left. The one piece I'm looking forward to is that they will be opening up a "Speakeasy" in the basement sometime after the first of the year. With so many other options in the Blackstone/Midtown area, I don't foresee this being at the top of my list of places right now. Went here two nights in a row and both were wonderful. First night, Tuesday, enjoyed cocktails, basil gimlet was delicious. Cayleigh was a great bartender. You are allowed to bring food in as they do not serve anything. I went to Nite Owl and got totchos to share with our group. Nice quiet night. Returned Wednesday night with a friend. Brought in our own appetizers to share, purchasing a 1/2 price bottle of wine to share. Bill was $21 with tax, with tip we spent each about $15 since we took up the table for hours. What a fun new place in Blackstone! It has a warm, cozy feeling that makes you want to stay inside and drink their delicious little cocktails all night long. They have a great Gin Gimlet, and their seasonal drinks are pretty tasy too. The only downside (and maybe I wouldn't even call it a downside) is that it's pretty small. I came with my boyfriend one night after work and we were able to grab a spot at the bar, but when I came back with three friends the next week, it was packed. I was surprised at the age range of the crowd -- there were people who were in their young 20's and groups in their 50's. They have these fun-sounding shots on their menu, but you're not missing out if you skip them. They're just okay and at $6 a pop, I'd rather just pay for a drink.
