Old fashioned

Very good drinks! I got the chinola cloud and my husband an old fashioned. Great service and great ambience Dark and moody!

Cabana area

I walked by Catalyst earlier this summer and knew immediately I wanted to check out. Catalyst is a gorgeous addition to the Farnam Hotel with great indoor and outdoor space. After the Gold Rush was our favorite cocktail...we may have enjoyed several... They do have heat lamps available in the outdoor cabana areas so they can be enjoyed during the cooler months, the outdoor fireplace is also a nice touch. My only comment is the outdoor area had some old cigarette butts and leaves built up, for a place like Catalyst, I would have expected that to be taken care of. The bartenders were really friendly and attentive, we have a great time.

Visited Catalyst for the first time with a group of friends last night. To get to Catalyst, we were able to walk into the front doors of the Farnham Hotel and straight back down a long hallway to the bar. The interior is very upscale and sophisticated. The outdoor area is also nice with fireplaces and various seating options. The specialty cocktail menu looked good, though I ordered a gimlet and thought it was delicious, very well made and balanced. My friend ordered fries which I tried, and they were very crispy and salted the perfect amount, so I would definitely get these again! The bartenders were great and extremely friendly! They were great for accommodating a large group, and remembered all of us when ordering more drinks. For an upscale-feeling bar, people were in a range of casual to nicer outfits. I thought the drinks may be expensive, as no prices were listed on the menus. For two gimlets, the price was around $24. This is a great date night spot, with more intimate alcoves to be able to talk and the darker romantic feel. The couches and outdoor area are also perfect for smaller groups. Definitely a nice spot if you're looking for a nicer place downtown with great drinks!

Charcuterie Board

We stayed at the Farnum Hotel (an Autograph Collection hotel) and not only loved the hotel but the gorgeous Catalyst bar located in the back. It is a classy, beautiful space with a cozy indoor vibe and an amazing outdoor space centered around a big gas fire. It's located close to the Old Market and will be even better when the park front development is finished in front of the hotel. The bartender was awesome and mixed our drinks perfectly. We ordered a charcuterie board and the octopus appetizer. They were both incredible. I highly recommend stopping in for a drink or bite even if you're not staying at the hotel. It does not disappoint!

The Paloma Fresca

Came here on a Friday night while we were in town. My husband got an old fashioned and I got their Paloma Fresca. Both were very good! The ambiance was great - very intimate and romantic. They have a great outdoor seating area with a fire place - it was the rowdier side of the bar that night so we stayed inside and sat on the comfortable velvet couches. They also have a nice selection of bites to eat - everything was on the pricer end, but the service was great, so I would say it was worth it for a nice treat.

They don't open until 5, but their door was open at 4:40. The internet says they open at 4pm!

The space is super cute and bigger than I expected. I love that the windows open up and give it an indoor/outdoor vibe, and the tropical décor makes it feel fun and cozy at the same time. There's plenty of seating, and they can fit both small and big groups. We were a party of about eight and were still able to find a good spot together. Something I really liked is that they let you bring food from other places since they don't serve any, which is perfect if you want to hang out for a while. Their drink menu is huge, and the presentation is honestly amazing. When we first got there it was slow, but it definitely got busier as the night went on. We did struggle a bit when it was time to check out because all the servers were running around, so just be ready for that on a busy night. Overall, we had a great time. The drinks were really good, the vibe was great, and I'd definitely go back.

It was kind of confusing whether we had to go order at the bar or if someone was going to come take our order, but eventually someone came to us. I got the Exotic Bird and it was definitely my favorite drink out of the group. The seating was a bit of a challenge as we had to seat ourselves and we had a decently large group, so we had to wander around for a bit trying to find a spot, but we eventually did. I'll probably be back to try more drinks, but maybe when they are less busy!

The space itself is nice, and…read morethe tree at the center of the bar is genuinely cool--but if you're seated off to the side, that focal point doesn't really translate into the overall vibe. Drinks are expensive for what you get. I tried their premium old-fashioned, and honestly, it was no better than a standard old-fashioned elsewhere. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing memorable--certainly not at that price point. Service was slow, which was surprising given that it was a quiet night. On top of that, since the bar is in the hotel basement, there's no cell service. The Wi-Fi password I was given didn't work, which made the experience more frustrating than it needed to be. Overall, it's a visually interesting space, but the combination of pricing, slow service, and connectivity issues made it not my favorite bar experience.

But--I'd discourage going to this part of the hotel. After my experience from the first review, I called and had 2 separate conversations with the manager to try to rectify the situation. He sent the info to accounting and 2 months later, I still hadn't heard anything back. It was clear they didn't consider the situation important enough to look into, so that was really discouraging as an IHG hotels member and have spent a fair amount of money here over the past several years.

I made a reservation for five of us, and we were counting down the days like it was a holiday. When we arrived, we valet parked and made our way inside. The restaurant is a little tucked away. Head downstairs past the hotel lounge and you will find it. It kind of gives the place a secret, speakeasy vibe, which I loved. We were greeted warmly and led to a private dining room that was beyond charming. It featured a renovated poker table that now serves as a dining table. It was unique, intimate, and perfect for our group. We were offered still or sparkling water right away, and the service was attentive from start to finish. Joe, our server, was fantastic. He knew we were celebrating and made the experience feel personalized from the moment we sat down. He also knew I was there for the Beef Wellington. I had noted it in the reservation, which I highly recommend, because they only prepare a limited number each day. They saved one for me, and I am still dreaming about it. Since it was our first time, we went all out. We shared Caesar salads, a small chilled seafood tower, bourbon-glazed pork belly, and an artisanal cheese board. Everything was top-notch. I do not even eat seafood, but the tarragon sauce on the tower was absolutely incredible. I would put that on toast, fries, maybe even a shoe. It was that good. For mains, most of us ordered the New York strip steaks. My husband chose the Summer of Steak flight, and I finally got my hands on the Wellington. Every entrée was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. These were easily some of the best steaks we have had in Omaha. We also ordered four sides to share, which was just right for our group of five. The truffle fries were hot and crispy with a lemon aioli that I wanted to take home in a bottle. The asparagus was fresh and perfectly done. The mashed potatoes were whipped and fluffy. The aged cheddar mac and cheese was everything it should be--gooey, rich, and ridiculously satisfying. Naturally, we did not stop there. We sampled a few desserts: Baked Alaska, Coconut Torte, and the Blackstone Butterbrickle. All three were excellent. There was not a single bite left behind. The cocktails were also a standout. Some of the best margaritas we have had in a while. The bartender deserves his own round of applause. Yes, it was a splurge. With tip, the bill came to around $1,200. But it was a birthday, and as my dad always says, if the food and the experience were good, it was money well spent. And this absolutely was. The Committee Chophouse delivered at every level: flavor, service, ambiance, and attention to detail. We left full, happy, and already talking about when we can go back.
