If Yelp would let me give Pivot Prime a 10/5, I would. We've been 5 or 6 times since they opened, including family celebrations, a couple of date nights, and a business dinner, and Pivot Prime has become one of our favorite restaurants in Omaha. It's where I take family when I want to treat them to something they wouldn't necessarily do for themselves, but it works just as well for a date night or a dinner where you need to impress someone. We're already planning to come back for our five-year anniversary. We almost always get the ribeye, medium rare, and they consistently nail the cook. Every. Single. Time. My husband gets the bone marrow bordelaise, I get the au poivre, and everyone is happy. We did splurge on the flaming tomahawk once, and yes, the presentation is fun and dramatic, but thankfully it isn't a gimmick covering up mediocre food. The steak itself was phenomenal. Whatever steak you order, get the potato leek dauphinois. I cannot stress this enough. It is ridiculously creamy, rich, and one of the best steakhouse sides I've had. My husband and I genuinely argue over who gets the last of it, which is probably the strongest endorsement I can give a potato. The shishito Caesar is our favorite salad so far. It's huge, super crisp, a little spicy, and has an excellent dressing. More importantly, there's actual flavor beyond just "we put something spicy in a Caesar." It's one of the few salads I actively look forward to ordering at a steakhouse. We've worked our way through a good portion of the appetizers at this point. RiRi's chicken is fantastic, the beef carpaccio is amazing, the meatball is superb, and the hamachi crudo tastes like summer on a plate. I realize I'm starting to sound like Pivot Prime has me on payroll. They do not. I have unfortunately paid them quite a bit of money. For drinks, I repeatedly order the French Kiss. Tart, sweet, bubbly, and dangerously easy to drink. My husband usually goes for an Old Fashioned with one of their Penelope selections, of which they have several. Their cocktail and whiskey program is clearly being handled by people who know what they're doing. We also never leave without dessert. The affogato is my winner, but anything chocolate we've had has been genuinely good quality. Their seasonal cheesecake with goat cheese whip is also incredible and exactly the kind of slightly unexpected detail Pivot does so well. Beyond the food, the service is a huge part of why we keep coming back. The servers are knowledgeable without being pretentious, friendly, smart, funny, and actually helpful when you're deciding what to order. The atmosphere manages to hit a sweet spot where I can bring family for a celebration, have a proper date night with my husband, or sit down for a business dinner and it feels appropriate for all three. It's upscale and special without feeling stuffy. I do wish their steak knives were better quality, each time they run on the dull side. But otherwise, my one complaint? No weekend happy hour. Pivot, some of us would like to irresponsibly order another French Kiss at a discount on a Saturday. Please consider the people. Otherwise, genuinely 10/5. After this many visits, I feel pretty confident saying the consistency is there. We bring people we love here, we choose it for our own special occasions, and we keep finding reasons to come back. I understand they have the issue that they probably have a high expectation in the fact that they took over Mohaganys; however, this is not anything like Mohaganys and a "dining experience". Food was horrible first time overly salted, but service was excellent so we thought we would try again. Now food was better but still underwhelming. The service was sub par. No cleaning of a spill, no plate brought for sides when my bowl of ragout didn't allow for sides, I am shocked they don't have bread service still with their prices, the waitress did not seem to have a high knowledge of the menu, no specials, the dessert was ordered incorrectly and overall just not to the expectations of the pricing. Our bill was over $100/person when it felt more like a roadhouse or something. Also, I don't really understand the whole obsession over the crack fries. They are fried potato wedges that are cooked well but don't have much taste and yes the aioli is good but it just seems like a weird thing to be obsessed over. Maybe I have too high expectations of this place because mentally they are in the spot of Mohagany's and they are hard to match. I do not think we will be back. read more

We ate the short rib ragout which for a pasta dish, was a meat lover's dream. The short rib juices were cooked down with mushroom and the meat to create an intense meaty flavor without a bulky sauce. 8.5/10 only because it was slightly salty bug personal preference. The star was the NY strip. Tip is to get the steak frites because for $4 more, you are getting crack fries which are $15 as a side and the same ounces of NY strip steak. Plenty of serving on the place. The au gratin leek potatoes did not disappoint. A cheesy classic. If I find myself in Omaha again, I will be back. read more

We tried to Riri's chicken appetizer. The chicken was delicious. The flavor over powered everything else in a great way. A nice bit of spice. I tried the steak sandwich for lunch, the steak was good. I would try something else next time. My husband did the lobster club and it was delicious. The service was on point, multiple people checked on us and made sure we were taken care of. The avocado for my husbands sandwich wasn't ripe enough so chef let him know it would come without it and offered him to switch his meal if he wanted. It was handled the perfect way. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and had an overall enjoyable experience. The service was excellent; attentive, professional, and consistent throughout the evening. The cocktail menu was a little underwhelming for me. I ordered the lychee cocktail, and while it was fine, it wasn't particularly memorable. On the food side, the beef tallow candle was a fun and unique touch. We also ordered the crab escargot, which my husband absolutely loved. For my entrée, I had the Filet Rossini. The wine sauce was the standout and paired great with the pomme purée and a glass of Pinot Noir. My husband ordered the Wagyu New York strip with morels and thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. The restaurant has a classy, upscale aesthetic and definitely feels like a special-occasion destination. It is on the expensive side, but the quality of the food and service generally reflected that. My only real disappointment was that, despite noting our anniversary, there wasn't any special acknowledgment from the restaurant. Even something simple like a handwritten card or small gesture would have made the evening feel a little more memorable. I've been excited to check out pivot for some time now and while we had a really good meal, the price point did not match the experience. We started with the tallow candle which we loved and was so unique, I recommend this dish. We then ordered a dozen oysters for $44 but they were poorly shucked, one oyster had at least 5 shell fragments. For entrees we went with the butcher block, I loved the opportunity to sample 4 different cuts of meat and they were delicious but when the block was dropped off the meats were misidentified by the server... when an item is $150 those details need to be well executed. Cocktails were creative, I loved the wasabi martini and our Brussels sprouts side was also excellent. It was hard to write this, for the most part we had a very good meal and I love that pivot took over the old mahogany spot but the meal was nearly $300 and for that price point in Omaha some of the details mentioned above need to be cleaned up. read more

Absolutely loved our experience at Pivot Prime! We went for a Friday night date night and arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation. They were ready for us and took us to one of the smaller rooms with about 10 to 12 tables in it, which was separate from the main area which was louder. I really liked the quieter, more intimate atmosphere of the smaller room. The ambience is upscale but comfortable...perfect date vibe. The food was flavorful, well-seasoned, and very high-quality. I can't remember having a better filet mignon at a restaurant in recent years. I was happy that they had one of my favorite red wines, Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon, which was a really nice pairing with the red meat. We loved our shared sides, and of course I had to go with the fun appetizer, the beef tallow candle with bread. Loved the addition of the balsamic with the beef tallow to cut through some of the richness. The service was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. And the only negative part of the experience was the dull steak knives. I was surprised because I expected a steak place to really have nice sharp knives, but I had a hard time cutting my asparagus, let alone my steak. This is a fantastic newer spot in Omaha! The location is beautiful and has a high end psh feel without being too stuffy. The menu items are creatively crafted and each dish is well seasoned, beautifully plated and thoughtfully balanced. There are no bad items on the menu. Since our anniversary fell on a Tuesday, the restaurant wasn't too busy, which made the evening feel even more special. When the hostess walked us to our table, we were surprised to be seated in what felt like a private room, complete with a cozy fireplace. For cocktails I had the Chocolate Espresso Martini and my husband chose the Signature Jack & Coke. After one sip, he immediately turned to me and said he had to know the recipe it was that good, especially with the foam on top. For appetizers, we tried the Beef Tallow Candle. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it ended up being such a fun and delicious experience. The candle was fully edible and paired with the fresh sourdough bread. I also ordered the Maine Lobster Bisque, which had just the right amount of lobster meat. For our main courses I went with the Truffle Ravioli. The ricotta filling was delicious. We had such a great time trying out Pivot in its first week open! The menu is larger than most steak houses, and we struggled to make our decision, but had great input from our server James. We ended up with the filet Rossini (pivot recommendation), and the 16oz ribeye. These were both incredible--cooked perfectly, with delicious seasoning/spices! The ribeye I got was SO tender, and the flavor of my friends Rossini was perfect. Described by our server as a Christmas dinner--he was spot on! One of my favorite dishes was the brussel sprouts. With cooked apples, cheese, and plenty of oil/balsamic flavors, this was the perfect blend of flavor and texture on the crispy sprouts! I highly recommend getting some!! Our drinks were impressive as well. Although the cocktail list is full of whiskey (not my thing), I was able to get 2 of the mocktails, and added a shot of Tito's. These were perfectly sweet and refreshing! Overall this was not only an incredible meal, but such a fancy atmosphere, and most of all an INCREDIBLE staff!! Wonderful addition to the steakhouse scene in Omaha. From the Salted Edge family, Pivot is in the old Mahogany location with a fresh, modern look. We were fortunate enough to get reservations opening weekend. The signature beef tallow candle is a fun twist on a bread course but our favorite was the exceptional "Best parts of French Onion Soup". We had the signature steak and a 16 oz. Ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly to temp. Plus I love getting to puck my steak knife. Favorite side dish was the cheesy goodness of the potato and leek au gratin. We closed with the banana foster bread pudding, which was bruleed tableside. Overrated and overpriced. As I write this review, this place has 4.7 stars and with many glowing reviews. I dissent. The beef tallow candle with bread was okay, but nothing super. The bread is fine, but real sourdough would have been better. Both salads were way too big; the size and price should be cut in half. I had the Cesar and it was a huge disappointment. Not tart and sharp. The anchovy was nothing. I get that beef is high now, but the meat wasn't great either. At least it was cooked right. I ordered a specific brand of wine that was slightly over $100. The waitress brought out a much higher priced bottle and claimed that they were out of my brand. I said no and was going to reorder something in the same price range; Austin Hope per a Yelp reviewer. The waitress then found the brand that I first ordered. I was wearing a suit and my date was nicely dressed so maybe the waitress thought she could pull a fast one on me. Hard to say. I won't attribute a bad motive to her; I just report the facts. If I could give this 10 stars I would! Fantastic ambiance, inventive menu and phenomenal service. This is the best steakhouse in Omaha hands down. Ok let's start from the beginning, the wine menu is fantastic! So many great bottles and 2 Cabernet Franc options and Bella Glos by the glass!! There's also a huge selection of bourbons and whiskeys to choose from. It was so hard to decide on appetizers because every single one of them sounds delicious. We went with the bone marrow beef tallow candle (unctuous and so flavorful) and the Chicken Ricci with caviar (perfectly coated and fried with a slight hint of salty ocean). Both were amazing and set the excitement for our main courses for sure. The steaks are off the charts delicious, perfectly cooked and sliced. The toppers are just as exciting, crab cake oscar, chimichurri (best I have ever tasted) and an off-menu fois gras butter that was incredible. The sides are also hard to choose from because of so many great options. We had the Lobster mac and cheese and the Leek and Potato au gratin. Both are saucy, well seasoned and perfect with and cut of meat! Next time I want to try the truffle ravioli as a side! And dessert! Gotta have dessert! From the chocolate espresso martini and the key lime pie martini to the lemon curd pavlova and chocolate mousse tower....you smile, keep eating and enjoying every single bite. If you don't do this, you're doing it wrong! Our server Mike was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items and had great recommendations, including some off-menu choices that made our dinner extra special. Absolutely amazing. After the dinner I had at Pivot last night I feel confident saying this place might be a contender for best steakhouse in Omaha. Since this is the same building that used to house the original Mahogany before the moved down street I was curious to see how it would look. Everything from the decor to the layout has been completely redone, and it looks beautiful. We started out with the wagyu meatball and a bottle of red wine, the meatball was huge, perfect for 2 or 3 people. It was one of the better appetizers I've had in a while, the balance between the amount of spice and the overall texture and flavor were perfect. For dinner I opted for the 8oz red wine aged Manhattan steak with garlic butter, and it did not disappoint. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the seasoning was spot on. The butter added the right balance of richness to the meat. The service was wonderful, everyone we encountered from the hostesses to the bartenders were warm and helpful. I have not been this impressed with a new restaurant for a while, Pivot is a welcome addition to the Omaha dining scene. read more

I walked into Pivot Prime not knowing quite what to expect, and left absolutely blown away. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was outstanding from start to finish. I started with a glass of Willamette Pinot Noir and the grilled shishito Caesar. The baby romaine had a perfect char, and the espelette Caesar dressing, anchovy, crispy potato, and parmesan created such a balanced, flavorful bite. For my entrée, the red wine aged Manhattan steak was cooked perfectly. The 14-day aged Winterfrost American Wagyu, topped with blue cheese butter and served with jumbo asparagus, was rich, tender, and unforgettable. Hi-ho! Kermit the Frog here, and let me tell you; Pivot Prime is the kind of place that makes a frog want to put on a tiny suit jacket and declare, "Yes, I do belong at a fancy steakhouse." This spot used to be Mahogany (which we already loved), but somehow... someway... Pivot Prime hopped right over it. Better food, better vibe, better everything. It was the perfect place for a pretty special night: celebrating my master's degree! (Yes, frogs go to grad school. Very advanced amphibious curriculum.) Our waitress asked what we were celebrating, and when we told her, she lit up. She made us feel seen, appreciated, and genuinely celebrated; the kind of service that sticks with you. Drinks? Ohhhhh buddy. I ordered a coffee martini that looked like it belonged in a magazine spread titled "Frogs With Exquisite Taste." It tasted even better. My wife ordered a banana cocktail that made her so happy she immediately ordered another; which is always the truest review. Food? Ribbiting. She had the salmon over sea greens with caviar folded into the sauce. One bite and we both said the same thing: "This tastes like the ocean... in the good way." Like the version of the ocean from a memory montage in a movie. I went classic: steak frites; but not the boring, thin little fries you usually get. These were thick-cut, beef-tallow-fried masterpieces, crispy enough to make me forget I'm usually more of a fly guy. And the steak? Massive. Delicious. I ate half and immediately felt victorious. The other half is waiting for me like a gift from Past Frog to Future Frog. We were so blown away by everything (the food, the drinks, the service, the whole vibe) that we left the biggest tip we've left in years. No hesitation. No second thoughts. Worth every penny. They knew it was our anniversary and they pulled out all the stops. From our greeting to the final bill this was an experience we soon shall not forget. We loved the build out, cozy and warm tones, not too loud. Great improvement from the old restaurant that occupied this space. For cocktails we had dirty martinis, then the tallow candle for our starter. So unique, and delicious flavors with the sourdough bread for dipping. Then the lobster bisque. Chunks of lobster meat did not go unnoticed. She had the Wagyu selection for the night, a beef shoulder cooked perfectly medium rare. I had the filet with truffle béarnaise. Probably the most perfectly balanced flavor and doneness of any steak I have ever had out. And the Crack Fries. Wow. Dessert was perfect as we enjoyed the pistachio ice cream with expresso poured over and a meringue cookie. I was very impressed with the food, service and ambiance. This was my second visit and it was great. The wait staff were very knowledgeable about the menu especially the food allergies. I have a gluten allergy and my waiter Peter guided me through the menu quickly but completely. Everything was cooked to perfection. After leaving a review previously about the absence of a gluten free indicator in the menu, Pivot made this change and delivered. I am glad I gave Pivot a second chance. This change told me that they truly care and listen to their patrons. That attention is clearly present from the greeting at the door to the last bite of a delicious meal. Restaurant is nice and modern, with pleasant ambiance and great service. However, the particular day we were there, it smelled bad in the entryway. The beef tallow candle was quite delicious, I would definitely recommend! The truffled lobster Mac and cheese (it is $27) and Brussels sprouts were also really good. For dessert, the banana foster and triple layer cake were quite tasty! However, the crack fries were mediocre at best and $14!! The oil tasted old, the fries were not sufficiently seasoned, and the garlic aioli lacked flavor. The steak frites were alright, but the meat was quite fatty, and way too expensive for what you ended up getting. The béarnaise sauce was underwhelming and did not really add to the dish. The ribeye was ok, but under seasoned. We tried a couple of the butters, in my opinion, they are ok, but very rich and do not make up for the under-seasoning of the meat itself. Additionally, you have to pay $4 to add a butter when the steak is already $70. The peach crème brûlée was not good at all in my opinion. The price is just FAR too high for what you get, especially in terms of the steaks and entrees. All in all, you would be much better off at a different steak restaurant in Omaha. read more

Lovely bar and excellent service with a nice ambiance. The wine list was slightly disappointing for me, with mostly California wines, but the cocktails were great. The steak tartare was delicious, as were the king crab legs, but they were $115 and I got less than two whole legs including the crab salad that was served on the side. It was plenty of food for me, but the price was a bit high, even considering this location is far from the sea. My boyfriend's steak was perfectly cooked, but the mushrooms were a little too acidic and the brussels were nothing spectacular.
