Hard to believe we've been going to Davlo's for 11 years! Chose Davlo's last night hoping to avoid the Berkshire crowd downtown. Good choice. It was not empty but we were seated right away. Experience is largely the same as always. The deep dish pizzas are unique and delicious, but take time to come out. Be prepared. Cocktail was subpar. Ordered Bombay Sapphire martini, what came out was drinkable but something else. Our server offered to make another one personally, but she described watching the bartender make the first one and I opted not to replace. Next time (and there will be a next time, the pizza is tasty) I will have a beer in a bottle. read more

We stopped in for dinner before a school event on a Friday evening. It was relatively slow so that was nice. We opted for some drinks, a tap beer, and a pineapple mojito and the bruschetta appetizer. I LOVE how it was served, essentially build your own bruschetta with the tomato, mozzarella and bread on the plate. The pizza was good, but did take 30 minutes to cook which we thought was a long time for minimal guests. It was piping hot when it arrived. The fries with the kids meal were good too I didn't love the mojito, but it was very fruity. We didn't get deep dish and i wish we could have, as the this was a little too thing and crunchy for me. I'm going to offer a change of pace from the other reviews and instead contrast this pizza with that of actual Chicago deep dish. To start, both Davlo's and Chicago deep dish are quite good. On taste, texture, etc. I will say that they're evenly matched. Location: As you know, Chicago pizza restaurants are located in Chicago. This may prove convenient if you already live there. However, where Pizzeria Davlo really wins out in this category is that you're much less likely to be the victim of a crime when dining here. I have been here numerous times and I have never been shot, stabbed, or had my identity stolen. Price: Gas money from Omaha to Chicago is quite expensive. This must be factored in to the cost of each slice, making Pizzeria Davlo the clear winner in this category. Even if you don't live in the Omaha area Pizzeria Davlo still wins on price given the cost of medical bills in our country. The one advantage I would give Chicago pizza joints is that if you're trying to make it big in the drill scene, the options at Pizzeria Davlo are quite lacking in that regard. Oh, and also don't listen to cowards that say that it's not good to-go. They do this half-cut sort of technique to where the sauce doesn't leak out. You're good! They could use better marketing though. My vote for a tagline would be: "Pizza you don't have to die for." read more

Big fan of a traditional deep dish pie. That being said, I did not get a traditional deep dish pie. We chose to do the Der Bamberg as a flying tomato. Yummy! The crust is light and flaky, toppings were plentiful. Seems like the difference between the flying tomato and the deep dish is the use of tomato, sauce or tomato (see pics). We did also get an order or bruschetta (no Pic for this one), comes with toast, sliced fresh mozz. I personally found the bruschetta itself bland, felt like it should have more fresh basil or garlic. Overall we did enjoy our meal, plenty of leftovers, easily re-heats in oven. I will be back. read more

We ate at Pizzeria Davlo with our supper club (11 people!) and had a great time. The ambiance of the restaurant is a nice homey vibe with the wood panel walls and warm neutral carpeting. The staff was excellent, even when a few in our party ordered a dish that takes about 40 minutes to cook! Once our food started to arrive, we started with the bread sticks as an appetizer - and they were AMAZING. They came as more of a cheesy bread style, with the four breadsticks connected and then covered in melted cheese with a side of sweet marinara sauce for dipping. We also saw that they had a "maple vinaigrette" salad dressing on the menu, so we had to also get a House Salad to try that. It was tasty - not too sweet, like you might think when you hear "maple" dressing. For our pizza, we ordered two: The Meat Eater pizza in Chicago Style and the Thin Crust with Sausage. Both were fantastic, and very different, with the Meat Eater being a deep dish style and the Thin Crust having the toppings, well, "on top"! Style wise, while both were delish, I think I preferred the Thin Crust more, only because the Chicago Style was a little too saucy and huge for me. My husband was a big fan, though! And the star of the show - the Davlo pasta! I ordered the smaller size option but if/when I go back, I'm getting the larger size. It's a baked dish, with sausage, noodles, mozzarella and the same yummy marinara that accompanied the bread sticks. The fact that it was all baked together, though, with the crispy burnt cheese on the edges - mmm - chef's kiss! So with the pizza, pasta, and service, I say this definitely deserved five stars and a hearty recommendation from me! :-) read more

This pizza was so amazing it's hard to even describe. Sauce to cheese ratio was amazing, while still getting all the meat in it to still pop and taste great. They have a ton of drinks, friendly staff. We went there at about 3:30 on a Saturday and we were the only ones. About 4:30 the place was packed with people waiting out the door. read more

The pizza was delicious and I only had to wait about 15 minutes for a carry out order. The pepperoni is super yummy it has a unique flavor to it! The food was ready when we got there after 20 minutes, and everything was fresh! We got a 12" deep dish Veggie pizza, and it was beautiful and loaded! Loaded with cheese and sauce and fresh veggies. My fiance and his dad both really loved it! I tried a piece too and it was good! The sauce had a little special something to it - little extra flavor - I don't know what, but it went really well with everything else. Nice fresh pizza dough too. I ordered the Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken (dressing on the side), and it was really nice and refreshing. Really generous serving size - abundance of veggies, and right amount of chicken. Loved the pepperoncinis even plain, haha. The dressing was really refreshing too. I asked for the breadsticks to come at the end so they'd be fresh, and it was exactly that! I was excited for deep dish pizza. Went here due to several recommendations. The sauce, cheese, and toppings were good. The crust is another story. The bottom was raw dough; the edges were hard as a rock. We could only eat the toppings on the pizza. I looked over at the table next to me and same thing. They scraped off the bottom crust, which was a pile of dough that appeared as if it had not risen. They also had an outer crust that was not edible. I showed the server, who went in back and then informed me that it was cooked at temp to the proper temperature. I showed them the pile of dough the hard edges. You need to order your pizza ahead of time because it takes around 40 minutes. We called the minute they opened up! We ordered the traditional Chicago Deep Dish, and it was SO good. It was cheesy with the perfect amount of sauce. We only had two slices left over, and it was just my husband and I eating it. (That's a sign of how good it is!) I was worried about how it would warm up, but to my surprise, it warmed up perfectly. It wasn't soggy. It tasted just as good as the night before. The girl checking me out was friendly, but I was grossed out when I ordered a fountain soda and she pushed the straw into the cup with her finger on top after having handled other customers credit cards and touching all over the computer screen. The service was phenomenal. Never had an empty drink. The pizza takes a bit to cook, which was expected and also communicated to us by our waitress, so we got a couple of appetizers. The bruschetta and cheese fries were both good. The waitress asked of if we wanted a side of ranch for our fries, I said sure! Our pizza was out about 35 mins after ordering. Pizza was also good, we ordered the meat eater, I wish it came with more hamburger on it. The 10 inch was plenty for two people. We had leftovers. When we got our bill I noticed they charged $1.15 for the side of ranch. Call me cheap, but I would not have paid that if I had known it was a $1.15. In addition to getting Deep Dish pizza right every time (I've probably been 50 times over the last five years), the staff are tremendous.
