Don't let the outside fool you! This restaurant is top tier! I went here for dinner with my niece before the opera and had an amazing four course meal. My purse was the artichoke crème brûlée and it was amazing. Then I had the garden salad and the chicken breast for an entrée and then the bread pudding for dessert 10 out of 10 recommend my niece had mac & cheese Caesar salad, Angus hanging tender cooked to perfection and then the carrot cheesecake everything was superb and our server was super nice and friendly and very knowledgeable. The ambience is great for a date night even though the outside may be offputting. It's very much worth to try. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. I cannot believe we haven't been to Dolce before. After a recommendation from a friend, we decided to take our weekly date night here. The location is intimate and unassuming, not at all what I expected. We chose to do the prix fixe menu with the wine pairing. This is absolutely the way to go. You get four courses and leave totally satisfied. Every single course was incredible, enough that we had to exchange bites from each of our plates so we could each taste how amazing each dish was. The only thing that didn't knock our socks off was the wasabi Caesar salad; it was good bug not incredible like the other dishes. My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner - we got their Prix Fixe menu. It was a very nice four-course meal in a very vibey, romantic atmosphere. The entire meal was so well-made; the pesto risotto was some of the best risotto I've ever had. We also highly recommend the wasabi caesar dressing with their caesar salad. For the entreé, the chicken breast was our favorite. By the time dessert came around, we were already so stuffed, but I really enjoyed the brulee topped with berries and chocolate. For drinks, I got a pomegranate martini - it was very yummy! Work travels have brought a new love of finding gems in my cities. I was feeling good that night so I thought why not try a tasting menu. I doh s Dolce and was able to get a last minute reservation. The wait staff was so kind and sat me at a lovely table. I did their prefix menu. The first course was a chicken risotto that was delicious, I wish I had more of it! The second dish was one. I normally wouldn't have gone for, but it was a butternut squash soup with chili oil, dusted cocoa and a toasted marshmallow. I will say sometimes I can be a little picky, but this was absolutely delicious and I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone. the last dish was a steak with potatoes perfectly cooked and so yummy. Listen, this is that restaurant in the location you drive by but never stop at. And you're missing out, so just do it! We got the prix fixe and I got the premium wine tasting with mine. He got their NA beer, it wasn't the best but wasn't bad. The wines were delicious and they gave us an extra glass of champagne since we were celebrating a special occasion! First course I got the margarita muscles (special of the day) and he got the risotto. They were great, but I definitely preferred the risotto to the muscles as I didn't feel that had much flavor. Second course he got French onion soup and I got the Caesar salad. You would have thought he saw Jesus after that first taste of his soup. My Caesar was equally as delicious, whatever they put in that dressing is something I've never had before and we're trying to recreate it with the wasabi! The wasabi was an amazing touch. Not too spicy but flavorful. Third course was hangar steak for him and scallops for me. Listen, you either screw scallops up royally or they're perfect as there's no in between and this was that perfect scallop! Final course of crème brûlée and cheesecake was perfect but at that point was enough for me. He didn't like his crème brûlée all that much though. The atmosphere was quaint, small, quiet, and professional. We talked to the chef for a bit and learned about his history and who he's worked under and what he's done. You have to go! Randomly stumbled upon this location on google and decided to make a reservation for date night on Saturday. Ambiance: one large room with tables and candles. Food: ordered the prefix meal and did some swaps from the a la carte menu. I tried the ravioli, ragu, lamb rack, and chocolate cheesecake for the 4 courses. Overall, the food was decent. Some dishes were great and others were okay. My ravioli was extremely undercooked and was very hard. The ragu had potential, but lacked in a lot of flavor. I did really enjoy the lamb rack as well as the chocolate cheesecake dessert. The presentation of the food was great. The portions were very reasonable. Service: excellent service. All the courses came out a timely manner. The server checked on us multiple times throughout the meal as well. We were excited to learn that there could be substitutions, or "swaps" as our server said, with the prefix meal but were not aware of the additional charge. It would have been nice when the server explained the menu to us to indicate that swapping things from the prefix menu would be additional charge, or somewhere listed on the menu that this was the case. We were surprised by the extra charges when the bill arrived ($30) and would've appreciated knowing about it ahead of time when making the food selection, as "swap" does not make it sound like it there would be additional charges. Though it was fun experience enjoying this multi course meal at dolce, I am not positive that given 1/2 of my dishes were not up to par with my expectations of fine dining, along with the price of this experience, that I will return. read more

I have had Dolce on my list of special event restaurants for quite some time. I love doing tasting menus, and after hearing many positive reviews, we finally had the opportunity to go for my birthday. We did the Prix Fixe tasting and standard wine tasting which comprised of two whites, a red and sparkling wine for dessert. My 3/5 star rating is mainly giving discredit to the service we were provided. I was extremely disappointed in our waiter's professionalism. What might be a regular Tuesday working for him was a birthday celebration for me I have been looking forward to for years of living in Omaha. When we first arrived there were just 3 other groups inside. 2 of the other parties submitted complaints to our waiter. One was for a dish being too salty and another was for an Old Fashioned that was not to another guests liking. This does not necessarily reflect directly on him but it's how he reacted. If you've been before you'll know it's a small and intimate dinning setting. He went back and told the chef about the one dish being to salty in a negative manner and was also complaining about how after getting a new old fashioned for the other guest that he didn't think he would like the new one either. Our personal experience with him was someone who showed no passion for his position and lack of preparedness. He had a hard time remembering the wine he was serving us, and when giving us a complimentary bottle of champagne said: "I'm not sure who's birthday it is, but here you go." He was unfortunately not a good representation of Dolce. For our courses we started with shrimp risotto, cauliflower soup with a truffle oil drizzle, Angus Hanging tender and ended with rosemary crème brûlée. The risotto was lacking a bit of flavor and was my least favorite but the cauliflower soup and entree were very well prepared. I love the wine paring with our corses as well. read more

Food was good, but with all of the competition in town, I am sorry to say I don't feel like it was necessarily stand out. Tasting menu's, while prominent in big cities in the world, aren't very popular here in Omaha Nebraska. Which is sad, considering the diversity and experience that comes along with your meal. I've been to Dante a couple times now, and the menu has yet to disappoint me. In fact, in terms of flavor, quality, and presentation it's on part with the Michelin Star menus I've tasted; which is a lot coming from ol' Omaha. In fact, my first experience at Dante is probably to this day still one of my favorite meals of all time. First off, the chef is awesome. He accompanies out nearly every plate, and walks you through what you're eating. Many of the aspects of the dish are home-grown in his garden, or local to Nebraska in some capacity. The food speak for itself. Pictured below was a scallop dish (can't remember what it was called), but it was sweet, almost with a little cajun flavor, and was easily my girlfriend and I's favorite course the last time we dropped by. And of course, the wine pairings are excellent. I'm not big on wine, so I'm speaking for my girlfriend (who was pretty well off after having 6~ glasses), but she says they all tasted awesome, so I'll take her word for it. If you haven't been here, make a reservation and go. You won't regret it. read more

What a great dinner for our anniversary! Let's start with the most important part, the food. The food was absolutely delicious! Every. Single. Bite! Don't be fooled by the small portion sizes if you get the Pre Fixe menu. By the end of the meal you will definitely have a full stomach. It sounds really strange to say but, for me, the star of the meal was the Caesar salad. I absolutely love Caesar salad and with that added wasabi it was delicious! The only negative we really had was that the chef consistently would come out and talk to the guests that did not order off the Pre Fixe menu. It almost seems like if you spend a little bit more you get that added bonus of talking to the chef, but, I really feel like the chef should be delighted to have anyone in his restaurant. Especially if he wants better word of mouth and returners. Sadly, I was disappointed with my experience at Dolce. The decor was nice and the dessert was pretty good. Otherwise they didn't meet my expectations, especially given the 4.5 rating on Yelp!! Not consistent with my experience at all. The service was pretty slow. There seemed to be too few employees working; there was a general feeling of harriedness from our server as he rushed around the small restaurant. It was just an odd feeling as a diner. The two person tables were super narrow. I understand that aesthetics are important but not to the point where it compromises my ability to enjoy my meal. The dishes we ordered barely fit on the table. I ordered a gin fizz to start, which is a drink I order often. Whatever came out I think had gin in it but it really didn't taste good. I asked for a different drink, and the server recommended a coconut something. I went with it, hoping his rec would be better since it was something specifically on the menu. The drink that came out was so overpoweringly sweet and faintly tasted of pepto bismol. It was just awful. This time when the server came back I apologized and said I am really sorry but I just don't like this drink either, why don't we switch to wine. They didn't have a red Zinfandel but he recommended a Grenache and syrah blend I believe, which turned out to be fine. Throughout the whole process I was trying to be as kind and polite as possible, but I really wanted to enjoy a drink as I was celebrating a special occasion. But as soon as there was a problem with the drink that the server had made, he sort of developed a slight attitude with us that made me feel a little uncomfortable. Onto the food. We went with the pre fixe menu. The mussels were cooked perfectly and the broth was bright and tasted of fresh tomato but could have used a little salt. The greens salad was very lightly dressed. I could barely taste the dressing at all, which was a bummer because charred lemon vinaigrette sounded really good. The trio of pork was pretty disappointing. The saving grace of the pork dish was the gogujang sauce on the bottom of the plate. It made the pork chop and belly much more edible. The pork meatball (rice cake?) had really odd spices and flavor. The pork leg was tough. The pulled pork was dry and needed seasoning. The Mac and cheese was served far too hot and was still steaming after 5-10 minutes of letting it sit at the table. I appreciate a dish not coming out cold, but I don't want to burn my mouth either. There was way too much chorizo in the Mac...it was more like a bowl of cheesy chorizo with some noodles on top. Just not what I was expecting. The bread pudding was tasty but too dry on the top. It dried out the bread on top and it was beyond crunchy. The cheesecake had too much lavender in it for our taste, so it was almost soapy in flavor. I'll stop there, but you get the idea. There was something wrong with just about everything from the service to the food to the drinks. read more

From the first taste of the first course (a smoked pork and green peas risotto) it was clear we were in for a great meal. Thanks to their cool "Date Night" prix fixe menu we were sharing the dish and I was immediately afraid that my poor wife wouldn't get anymore because I might lose control and just dump the entire bowl in my mouth. Fortunately love prevailed. For the second course we chose two salads, both delicious, with a special shout out to the house-made croutons. This may mark the first and last review of my life in which I call out croutons. Course three, the meats. I had the wagyu flatiron steak and she had the chicken. Both were succulent. Special note on the wagyu: I've seen reviews where people don't like it and of course that's possible as people have different tastes. But I wonder if maybe it's an issue of expectations: wagyu like this tends to be much richer, much juicier and more tender, higher far content, and basically less like a steak. So if people are thinking "steak" then it'll probably taste different to them. But if they're thinking "super tender, juicy meat" then my guess is they'll love it. We, for the record, loved it. Finally we moved on to a dessert of bread pudding. I happen to make bread pudding as a holiday tradition. And mine's really good, I'm proud to say. So I can be picky about the dish. This one put smiles in our mouths and passed with flying colors. So delicately crispy, so melt in your mouth chewy, so flavorful. 07-27-18 We had a Groupon coupon that was about to expire, so I used it for an early birthday dinner. This is one of my favorite restaurants, but due to the cost, I can't go as often as I would like. It is one of the few restaurants that consistently provides great service and high-quality food. No matter how crowed it is, you can always carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice. They have two basic dinner menus, the Date Night Menu and the Diner Menu. We chose the Date Night Menu, but we substituted some items and added other from the Diner Menu. The Date Night Menu provides a 4 course meal. For our first course we had the Charcuterie Board - cured meats, pork rillette, house mustard, pickled vegetables, house bread and a selection of cheeses. We also add the Margarita Mussels - citrus broth, leeks, garlic, tomato, cilantro, tequila, grilled focaccia for an additional cost. This may have been an excessive amount of appetizers, but they sure tasted good. The second course was the Soup du Jour which was a Tomato Basque, smooth, tomatoey and delicious. We also had the Warm Goat Cheese Salad - 10 roasted red beets, breaded goat cheese, arugula pickled beet puree, orange truffle vinaigrette. Can't say much about it, except that its worth tasting it for yourself. For the third course Lois had the Pan Roasted Chicken Breast with gnocchi, broccolini, tomato marmalade, herb emulsion thyme chicken glaze. She loved every bite. I had the Pan Seared Duck Breast with parsnip, mushroom, bok choy, faro, spiced dates, cashews. The duck was cooked perfectly, and every bite was a taste experience. The fourth and final course was a Dark Chocolate Mousse with rosemary toffee, glühwein syrup, fresh berries. A perfect way to end a perfect night. To honor a special 21st birthday a group of friends and I decided to celebrate at this impressive restaurant! I must say this restaurant is brilliant! We made reservations days in advanced which made it a smooth easy transition to our table from the moment we arrived. This place is very well lit with mood lighting accompanied by tasteful classic music mixed with jazz. The staff was very accommodating and attentive! Our server was very impressive with how detailed and informative she was with the menu. She explained everything so perfectly with out missing a beat. She also was so kind to ask to take our picture knowing the special occasion. The menu is a work of art with many different exquisite items to choose from! They have an A la Carte section as well as a Pre fix to choose from for dinner. I chose to do the Pre fix in which I was served a; appetizer, salad, main coarse and dessert. Each wonderfully prepared and brilliantly presented. The timing behind each dish couldn't have been timed more perfectly and the flavors were out of this world! This is the type of food that makes you forget about all the hurt in the world. Food presented as a true work of art! Whether it be date night, a special occasion or a time to treat yourself to truly amazing food with gorgeous dinning I highly recommend coming to eat here. We came here for an early Valentine's Day lunch. Not knowing what to expect, we made our reservation and arrived to find a neat, clean environment. And it was pretty slow, too-only about 3 other couples in the restaurant at the time. Once we got the menus, we were excited to experience the food, and man, was it delicious! Our waiter was actually the head chef because of some staff changes and illnesses that day, so he was very helpful and knowledgeable. I don't quite remember what we each ordered, but I do remember that both were delicious! When it came time for dessert, we decided to splurge and once the chef described the almond-apple cheesecake, we just had to try it! And I'm so glad we did-it was the perfect end to a great lunch!
