Went here for my birthday and will definitely be back! It's a cute family friendly place in Papillion with a nice happy hour. The portions are big so be prepared to eat! The burger was cooked a perfect medium rare and the truffle fries had a nice texture with a little sauce on top. The risotto was nice and creamy. The Argentinian steak was tender and not too heavy. The fish sandwich was gigantic. The Brussels sprouts were soft and crispy with no bitterness. There was not one dish that was not satisfactory. The only thing I wish they did was maybe do something extra special for my birthday... like maybe a birthday dessert or something! However, service was fine. The steak on the wontons was super tender. I had the Alpine Chicken Sandwich and I did enjoy the flavors however it was a bit dry. One in our party ordered the seafood risotto and wasn't too happy with it. The patio looked inviting. Would be nice to sit outside for some apps. The ambiance is great. A beautiful interior with comfortable seating. We were a party of 10 adults and we were not crammed in. The drinks are interesting. A member of our party gott a hibiscus Margherita, which she liked. The beer list is good, but they make it very tough to know what beers are available. The server had a hand written list. The list was nowhere else that I saw. A but inconvenient. The Red I had was really good, though. We didn't do appetizers, and I decided to try the Argentinian Steak. Wow, I was pretty disappointed. I should have known it wasn't what I expected when I wasn't asked a temperature for my steak. I expected it sliced, which it wasn't. It was.little bits of steak that werent very tender over a bed of corn. The dish was kind of bland. For the small size, I expected a savory presentation, which was not the case. They forgot the crispy potatoes that were advertised to come with my meal, but I didn't ask for them, as I initially thought they were inside the small pile of food on the plate. They were not. The tortillas were corn, but the menu does not specify. (I prefer flour tortillas, but that was just a preference of mine that didn't affect this review.) The small portion and bits of steak that was bland are what I will remember. The rest of my party loved their food. A couple got actual steaks and a couple got the buffalo chicken gouda pasta. One got a wedge salad with steak, and she got more steak than I did in my dish. I'd like to give it another shot later, but this visit was underwhelming. I'll update when I try it again. First time here, definitely not the last time. Talus has a cool vibe. I would say family friendly as long as the kids behave. A modern and comfy feel. On this visit, we bellied up to the bar for a light dinner since they were pretty busy. Yay! It was happy hour at 5pm on a Saturday. I ordered a Kansas City Daisy which has a KC rye whiskey, JM Shurbb (don't ask me), and sour mix. Yum! Nice, refreshing, perfectly mixed. My dining partner ordered one for round two. From the happy hour menu, we ordered Buffalo Blue Brussels and Talus Meatballs. The Brussels sprouts were cooked quite well, not mushy and with a good crunch. It seemed to have too much vinegar, however. A little balsamic goes a long way. The Talus Meatballs were tasty!! A little mushy, yes, but that is easily overlooked with that little tart treat from the accompanying blueberry BBQ sauce. For an entree, we went wild. Something about the Mt. Fuji Mushroom Risotto drew us. We shared this, which is a good thing because it had plenty and we had leftovers to bring home. I haven't had a lot of experience with Risotto, so I can't compare it to others very well. That said, it was awesome. The cheesy (?) texture worked well with three mushrooms, cream sauce, and amazingly prepared pork belly (tender and so good). Talus is definitely on my radar now. My wife and I have been here 3 times on our rare date outings (2 small children). The first time we went the food was really exceptional. The service is always excellent as well. However, the last couple of times the food hasn't been as good. We weren't sure why and it was disappointing. However, we will be back again solely based on our first visit. Took my fiance out to celebrate and decided to try out Talus. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and it took a while to choose. Finally decided to start with the Crab Artichoke Dip and have the Mt. Fuji Mushroom Risotto. I was happily surprised with the amount and taste of the meals. The crispy pork belly was well balanced with the mushrooms and cream on the entree. Paired the meal with a Dolomite Fiore to drink. I enjoyed that the place felt cozy and upscale. I've grabbed happy hour at Talus in the past and knew I needed to check out their dinner offerings. It did not disappoint! Everything was delicious. We started off with the crab and artichoke dip, which came with a good amount of bread for the table. The Shrimp and avocado salad for the entree was a beautiful presentation and tasted incredible! Another great meal at Talus. Despite being busy and us not having a reservation (which I would recommend calling ahead), they squeezed us in with seating in their patio (weather was perfect and the outside well kept with a little water feature). Their food and drink menu is always excellent. Tonight I had the turkey pot pie casserole which was a welcome change from a traditional gravy when I think pot pie, with gratin potatoes and puff pastry crust that compliment the turkey and vegetables in a very large portion serving. So much food I couldn't finish it all and didn't save room for dessert. Service here as always was top notch! read more

Talus has been on our list for a while, and we finally ventured to Papillion to pay a visit. The restaurant is a great size with a friendly vibe. We both immediately noticed it smelled like a clean hotel, and we liked the ambiance provided by the fireplace. My husband had wine and I started with the blackberry shrub mule. This was the best mule I've ever had. It was so flavorful and refreshing. My husband ordered the meatloaf. It was incredibly tender and had a little spice to it. I had the grilled apple bacon cheese sandwich with truffle fries as my side. The sandwich was superb, especially with the heavy-handed addition of fig jam. The truffle fries were also perfect; my husband tried a few and said they were some of the best fries he has ever had. We are so excited to have discovered this gem! We really enjoyed our dinner here. The bartender was awesome and made me a NA old fashioned (most places only say they have NA beer) and don't go through the effort of trying to make something. It was as good as an NA cocktail is going to get. We sat at the bar and there was a good amount of people in the restaurant on a Monday night. There were some tvs on and sports and it was a chill place for a good drink and dish. We only got two appetizer like dishes because we weren't super hungry and they have a spin on them (adding Brussels to a Caesar salad) and I didn't hate it but I'm not sure I loved it either. I didn't like the warm with a colder salad. And the mushroom puffs. Again, didn't love them but didn't hate them. Would love to go back and try more. read more

Felicia took care of us. We tried three appetizers: Brussels sprouts, meatballs, and poblano pepper soup. All three were very tasty; of the three I enjoyed the Meatballs best. For our main dish my companion had the pigs and blue cheese sandwich with fries and I had the grilled salmon over field greens. I've been to Talus a few times and a lot of their offerings are great, with just a few I would possibly skip. The ambiance is pretty cool and "woodsy" with a fireplace and brick, as well as a lot of wood and wrought iron. The servers are great, and very attentive. We've been during the normal menu hours, as well as the happy hour (which has a totally different menu). The starters we've had on the normal menu are: -Eureka Crab Flatbread: This is like a crab rangoon flatbread! The bread is soft and covered in cream cheese, crab and the sweet chili sauce that almost stands in as the "sweet and sour" dipping sauce in the crab rangoon flavor. So good, and gigantic - this could be a meal in itself, if you're not sharing with anyone. -Brussels Sprouts: These are a mix of the sweeter version of Brussels and the savory, because they have a nice balsamic glaze as well as parmesan and some salty seasoning. So you get the best of both worlds if you're a Brussels Sprouts fan. -Peruvian Corn Chowder: I'm a super huge fan of any type of corn chowder, so I was excited for this. It was good and earthy, but seemed to be lacking some type of flavor - it had one base flavor of creaminess without anything added to cut the heaviness of the cream at all. The Entrees we've tried: -Mt. Fuji Mushroom Risotto: This was super tasty, and I don't even like mushrooms normally! The risotto was perfectly cooked and had the depth of flavor in the yakisoba cream and pork belly. -Chicken Pot Pie Risotto: This one wasn't as flavorful as the Mt. Fuji Risotto, because it was kind of all similar flavors without diversity in the salty, rich, savory, sour - it was just all one chickeny flavor, so if you're picking between the two, I'd go with the Fuji. Dessert: We've only had one dessert here, and it's one I definitely recommend - the Lithuanian Napoleonas Torte! We love the torte from the Lithuanian Bakery, and our server let us know that the Talus owners are family with the Bakery owner, so we had to try it. It was SO good with its fluffy layers, strawberry, and the little swipe of espresso cream paired with it. I would go back just for this! Happy Hour: As I said, we also went back for their Happy Hour, which has many small bites and apps that aren't on the main menu. We decided to go back and try each of them one day. They weren't all 10/10s but we did like many of them. -Cheeseburger Dip: This was my favorite. It was a cheesy dip with pickles in it, served with soft bread points you can dip into it. Really good, but I could do without the lettuce on top that they serve with it. -Italian Chip-Cho's: These were really well fried up homemade chips with a fondue cheese dipping sauce, topped in tomatoes, onions, and shredded cheese. Yum! -Ponzu Steak Stack: The steak in this was great and super tender/melt in your mouth. The steak bits were on top of some crispy wonton chips, with cabbage and other veggies and topped with delish sweet chili sauce. -Memphis BBQ Pork Slider: Tasty pulled pork with Memphis BBQ. It came basically as one large sandwich cut into two halves. -Shrimp and Corn Tacos: These were alright, with small shrimp bits, corn, avocado, and pico. It was a little dry and only after we'd left did I read on their website that it was supposed to have Crème Queso, that ours definitely did not have. -Buffalo Blue Brussels: Now these I was not a fan of because the blue cheese if VERY blue cheesy. I had had the OG Brussels and loved those so did give these a shot but just was not a fan. Sorry for the insanely long review, but I wanted to give a little snapshot of each thing we've tried since we've been a few times. This was such a treat. Not your ordinary food. We had the mushroom appetizer and it was very delicious. We also had the steak salad and the blueberry bbq served on crispy fingerling potatoes with cheesy broccoli and Texas toast. The salad had a very distinct flavor and a delicious dressing. The pork was perfectly cooked pulled pork and the bbq sauce was delicious too. We left with at least 1 more meal for leftovers. The service was excellent and it was very well decorated. This place is Fantastic! Omaha area if you aren't eating here, you need to reconsider your choices in life! Steak Wontons are simply out of this world. The Corn Chowder is unique and has all the fantastic flavor of roasted, charred sweet corn without the chewiness that corn brings. The Peruvian spices are spot on and DO NOT let hard boiled egg put you off, it makes a big difference. The smoked Old Fashion is simple, but complex and they know better than to over sweeten it! I'm from out of town and can't wait for my next trip here. I was here for three days, ate at a number of very high end places and this place was the hit of the trip food wise. read more

Tried this out for the first time since it's opening. I am usually not on this side of town but this was recommended by a friend for their cocktails and atmosphere. Went at 5pm and we were sat right away; service was awesome. Hostess and server were both great. The food was sub par, just OK honestly. The mahi was overcooked and the sauce over the top wasn't for my taste. I didn't finish the dish. The whole dish to me was very dry (I did order it with no pico due to allergies). The shrimp pasta was better but overwhelmingly oily. It had a nice flavor to it though, but honestly I've had better at chain Italian restaurants. The blackberry mule was OK, but served in a tumbler and very small for the price. I love mules but it's a copper mug or bust, for me. The drink itself was well done. Don't want to be overly critical, there are some nice aspects to this restaurant, the service and atmosphere are pleasant. The food is lacking, in my opinion, but I think some people may really enjoy this place for a glass of wine and lunch. read more

We highly recommend the chicken sriracha flatbread...good for sharing. The Polenta Mahi was good but a little overcooked. The Shrimp and Cashew pasta was really good as well as their Buffalo Chicken Gouda Mac. And good portions as well. Not really digging how the tables are set up. First time trying Talus. I definitely loved the look, and vibes in there. I didn't do much research, so I wasn't really sure what to expect but it was a nice upscale American restaurant feel. I got their version of a French 75, which had Mulberry gin in it. And then I also got their Blackberry Shrub Cocktail, which is similar to a Moscow Mule/Mojito. Both were good, but I prefered the French 75 as far as looks and taste. My husband got the Smoked Steep Slope Old-Fashioned, that was a showstopper. It was a fun, smoky, old-fashioned demonstration, and our server had fun with it. We got the BLT Crostini for an appetizer, it had tomato jam on it, which was perfectly sweet and acidic with the tomatoes. For my entree , I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I was initially excited about this because it had a mango avocado spread on it , with a lime buffalo sauce. Unfortunately, the buffalo over took any of the mango avocado flavor. I wouldn't get that again. My husband got the Buffalo Chicken, Gouda Mac, which was a very good restaurant style mac & cheese, comparable to Pitch. I'm excited to go back again. I had the opportunity to meet a friend at Talus recently. I've been curious & it proved to be a great choice. The location is easy to find, & the restaurant is comfortable & rustic. We decided to try out Happy Hour, it's Monday - Saturday, 3 - 6. We were greeted & seated promptly & considering it was 3:30 PM, they had a nice crowd. They have a specific Happy Hour menu, we had beer & wine, $2.00 off, & shared the Shrimp & Corn Tacos. We ordered the Vesuvius Flatbread from the regular menu. The tacos were soft shells, & filled with plump shrimp, roasted corn, queso & and avocado dressing. Yum. The flatbread has spicy chicken, peaches, prosciutto, Havarti, arugula & a honey dressing. The flavor combination was delightful. Spicy, sweet, & fresh, I recommend it. Our waitress was really nice & very helpful, & is one of the many reasons we'll be back. read more

What a Great find driving down Hwy 370 & 109th Street in Papillion, NE! The name kind of threw me-I thought it was a liquor store, but when I looked on-line & seen the menu I knew I wanted to go inside! It's a busy place & they asked if we RSVP? We didn't & was told we could dine on the large outdoor back patio, but it was really hot out, so we waited just a short time & were seated & greeted by Haley D. who quickly took our drink orders & answered any questions we had on the menu. They really have a diverse menu. I tried the Mahi with black bean sauce & steamed veggies-slight deviation from the menu item-crispy polenta. I really appreciate their accommodation with my butter intolerance. I enjoyed all the flavors from the fish & black bean sauce-wish there was more of the sauce though. My friend ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken & he ate every bite! I have to assume it was as delicious as it looked! I asked our friendly waitress how the name "Talus" came about & she said the owner likes to hike in nature. I noticed there's a large metal picture hanging above a fireplace that resembles mountains with a "T" top! Pretty cool place & great food options to take a date or celebrate any occasion.
