I haven't written a review in a while and it's honestly disappointing that my first one this year is...not a great one. We had a work meeting here and things started off okay. Our waitress was great the entire evening - appropriately checking in on us while also cognizant that we were having a meeting. I started off the with zero proof spritzer and that was very good! Reminiscent of an Aperol spritz, but NA. Our table got the seasonal grilled flatbread and the curry fries to share. The flatbread was excellent, best thing I had there all night. The curry fries on its own was very bland! Not sure I could taste salt much less curry. But dipped in truffle aioli and spicy mayo made it very good. There were no vegetarian entrees (not even a token one) on the menu, but they did have a Mac and cheese side. I asked our waitress if I could get that as an entree and she was very sweet and confirmed with her manager and kitchen that this was possible. Well... the Mac and cheese had bacon in it... I was told that they don't put bacon in it usually, so I'm not entirely sure what happened. I had also ordered the house salad with a sun dried tomato vinaigrette and that was fine. Not bad, but nothing stellar either. They were nice enough to comp the mac and cheese (that was taken back after I had two bites) the salad, and the fries, which was very nice of them. They did also offer to make me something else, but again - a pretty limited vegetarian menu, so I declined. I did get the chocolate cake to go and it was very grainy. I love chocolate cake, I'll eat it in almost any form but this tasted stale and had such an odd texture. It reminded me of grocery store cake. Overall a disappointing meal and I won't be back willingly, but two stars for our stellar waitress who was clearly very sorry about the bacon and the flatbread that was very good! read more

I went while in town with colleagues. It's in a plaza so there is a lot of parking. Nice ambiance that is welcoming. The local people spoke highly of it. Our service was nice. We went for lunch on a Monday for a special occasion and even thought the restaurant was full, they only had one waiter which made service slow. Entrees run about $28-30. Seemed like quite a few tables were business lunches. Our group had the sirloin, chicken, veal and salmon. Food was overall very good with great flavor. Some of the veggies were undercooked - hard to slice carrots with a knife. The Ricotta Pistachio cake hit it out of the park, but my friend was disappointed with her dense chocolate mouse. First, the food was pretty good, and there were some stand-out dishes! I got the onion soup which was amazing as well as the curry fries. Now those curry fries are a stand out in regards to being unique and delicious (a must try)! I also got the mac and cheese which listed lobster in it but was disappointed to see it was just ham. I would have never ordered the mac and cheese if I knew ham was in it as I don't like ham and the mac part itself was average. The side salad that came with the mac was good and refreshing. I also tried the crab cakes and garlic shrimp and those were pretty great too so apps here are a win! Our server was super nice and great but I had to ask about the status of my drink after everyone had had theirs for a good amount of time and everyone was served their food 10 minutes prior to mine as well. I also got my food boxed up but it took so long to get back that we just had to leave due to a time constraint. I know these things aren't that bad but all three happening to just me on this trip was a tad annoying. So, I guess make sure you have plenty of time. This was a bar dinner with my lovely wife. This location used to be Bruschi, and still has some of that restaurant's meals on the menu. I found that to be both courteous and considerate. The parking is easy, as it's a large lot. The Linden House is set in a corner of a large strip mall by Hy-Vee on 132nd. Its facade is simple and unassuming, yet not the common strip mall appearance. They made smart use of their corner location to place outdoor served seating. I found this to be another nice touch. Seating inside is bountiful, making is great for group events. The bar, at which we sat, is large and attractive. It's near the front window-wall. This means you may get bright sunlight as the sun sets. If so, bring sunglasses and enjoy the excellent bartenders and their well-mixed cocktails. The dinner menu still had some of the former French fare, as I'd indicated. The newer fare was of curiosity, and we weren't disappointed. I feel they can't do wrong in this regard. My only regret was the lack of affordable glasses of sparkling wine. They're a favorite of ours. At present, The Linden House has only proper Champagnes and some prosecco. Sadly, we're not budgeted for the proper Champagnes, and prefer our sparking to be far drier that is usual for prosecco. Oh, the suffering. Yes, we recovered well enough. Thank you for caring. As a regular customer, i note that Jen Coco was not there this day. The short rib tacos were not the usual balance of deliciousness - Too much meat chunks and very little kimchi. The crab cakes were subpar with no crab flavor at all. The "onion soup" had no onion flavor at all. The brussel sprouts that are drool Worthy were not up to par either. The fries had no salt and the prime rib sandwich was missing something. I personally will not return to Brushi. I went here after some positive reviews on local food review Facebook pages. However, I'm not sure what the fuss was about. The restaurant itself seems like a dated strip mall restaurant...probably because it is a dated strip mall restaurant. We went to happy hour at 4:00, and we were notified that for happy hour until 5:00 there is only bar seating, and you can only order off the happy hour menu. This wasn't a huge deal, but it's just odd. We ordered two drinks, a mule and a strawberry gin and tonic. Both were pretty decent. It was the food that fell short. We started with a chicken quesadilla. First, quesadilla is a generous term. It was tiny, made up of essentially two taco shells. My mom said "I thought this was supposed to be chicken?" because the filling was finely ground chicken that formed a pâté. It was very odd. There were lots of toppings, but they lacked flavor except for the ancho pepper sauce which tasted like hickory BBQ sauce. For $8, this was ridiculous. We were still hungry and decided to try the curry fries. If you've ever had Amsterdam Falafel and Kabob curry fries, you can imagine what I was expecting. However, that is not what we received. There was some kind of green seasoning...I don't know what it was, but it certainly wasn't curry (and it definitely wasn't salt, for that matter.) They were largely tasteless. The small side of chipotle mayo saved the day. Overall, this was a very lackluster experience. I think one issue comes from the lack of direction. Dumplings, quesadillas, sliders, curry fries...what is the theme here? I'd rather a restaurant pick something a do it really well. read more

We had been to Brushi many times before, but this past time left a lot to be desired (with a few bright points). When you enter Brushi, the ambiance is welcoming with a rounded bar in the middle of the restaurant, industrial open ceilings, and a long booth (with a table and chair on the other side) all along the wall. The design elements are classic red stripes with pops of fun colors in teal Hawaiian flower accent pillows. There are also digital fireplaces all along the walls (they look like TV screens!), and the music choices are prime for a nice relaxing meal, with easy listening tracks from the likes of Paul Simon and Lionel Richie. On our last visit, we began with the Insalata Caprese (Caprese Salad). When it arrived, it was super beautifully plated, with many types of tomatoes weaved throughout large chunks of mozzarella, and topped off with olives, radishes, asparagus, and a few sprigs of arugula. We definitely loved all the different varietals of tomatoes, but unfortunately two of the three main ingredients of Caprese (balsamic and mozzarella) were a little lacking in comparison to all the tomatoes and other accoutrements. There was very little balsamic drizzled over the dish, (which is my favorite part of Caprese Salad), so I was disappointed with that. And the tomatoes were also cut into quite large chunks which took a lot of cutting on our part, squashing some of the juiciness out of the tomatoes. It wasn't terrible by any means, but when we had finished the mozzarella, there were many tomatoes and other ingredients left on the plate. As I said, we had been to Brushi many times before, and my go-to dish (don't laugh) has always been the Macaroni and Cheese. I know that sounds childish, but it's a very elevated "Mac and Cheese" dish with Westphalia ham, peas, basil, and a creamy, garlicky sauce. I have had this a few times at Brushi over the years, and this last experience was a little bit of a letdown. We had been away for about a year from popping into Brushi, but the recipe of my coveted Mac and Cheese had completely changed (and not for the better). The ham was tiny little minuscule bits now (where it used to be chunks you could actually see in the dish), the pasta noodles were way larger than before (making the sauce not cling to the noodles as well), the sauce was way more runny and also SCALDING when it arrived (my husband was finished with his meal before mine was even cooled down enough to try to eat). Now, the one huge bright spot - the Salmon Filet was AMAZING. It was expertly cooked and not overly dressed at all. Just a salt-and-pepper seasoning to let the salmon flavor shine through, and a lemony parsley gremolata. The salmon came atop a bed of rice (that was a delicious complement), and was accompanied by some steamed summer vegetables. To quote my husband: "I would eat here every day for this dish." Service-wise, we did go on a busy Friday night, but once most of the patrons had filtered out, the service was still a little lacking. Our server was super pleasant, but we didn't get to chat with her too much after we placed our initial order. We never got one refill of our drinks, and had to wait about 15 minutes after we were completely done eating (and had our credit card out!) before we saw her again to come bring our bill. So there were a few positives and a few negatives, but it definitely has changed since we first started eating at Brushi. Not so much that we would never be back, but maybe we'll try some other items next time so we're not comparing it to the salad days of the early Brushi. read more

I was told by the g/f that we have tried this restaurant before, yet I do not remember ever going here. However, I know better than to argue, so here we are. Brushi is a beautiful little hideaway at the Westridge Shopping Center, located off of N.132nd St. and W. Dodge Frontage Rd. In Omaha. It's bistro style seating along with a small bistro style menu, consisting of a lot of great food. We both started off with their "Onion Soup Normandy". A creamy onion soup with Gruyère cheese and croutons. I chose the Hamburger for my main course, which was seasoned to perfection and cooked to medium rare. I do not eat the bun so I did away with that. She had the "Potato Gnocchi" with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes in a cream sauce. Very delicious. Our waiter was very much Johnny on the spot with the water refills ( I only drink water ) and took very good care of us. The nicest touch though was when the chef came out and greeted the customers asking how their food was. That's class! We will definitely be going back and trying other items in the menu. I would probably not come for dinner as it just seems like more of a lunch vibe to me. The menu was not huge but did have a lot of variety! Each dish comes out as a piece of art as our server told us, and she was not exaggerating! I got the salmon on the lunch menu and it was a very balanced meal. The sauce had a great flavor, and there was just enough of it to pair with the plain rice mixture and salmon. Everything tasted amazing and looked just as good! I will definitely be back as I feel I would absolutely love almost every dish on the menu. I am a quiet person, and my friend and I just wanted to have a quiet pleasant lunch together. Because I can't have sugar or caffeine I brought a diet soda with me. The manager came over and interjected himself into our conversation, then was trying to shame me for bringing in my own soda. I told him if he had a diet caffeine free soda, I would gladly order one there. But he just kept being rude. I was surprised. I think maybe he just wasn't getting enough attention today. I had dinner here for the second time and it was ad delicious as the first. We took advantage of the $30 Monday night meal. It's an amazing value with excellent food. You get soup/salad, an entree and dessert. I choose the Caesar salad, the salmon and crème brûlée. The salad was large with just the right amount of dressing. The salmon was delicious with a blood orange sauce, black rice and sautéed veggies. The portion was huge. The brûlée was light with berries and whipped cream. Service seemed a bit slow for lunch, as we arrived for our reservation at 11:45 and didn't get out of the restaurant until 1, so it may not be suitable for work lunches, but it was a nice experience overall. What an amazing experience. This owner has been relevant in Omaha for over 30 years and he never fails to deliver. As long as it's not too busy you can make a vegan request and he/they can whip up something to your liking. I was only charged $18 for a fantastic vegetable fry with gluten-free pasta (see pic below)!!! The coconut soup was worth the entire trip!!! Two of us were there right at 5 PM without a reservation so we got right in. I highly recommend calling ahead and reserving a table. One of my co-workers suggested this restaurant for lunch the other day, and as I looked through the menu I was impressed with the variety of dishes available for a variety of different tastes. They have classic flavors such as macaroni and cheese and cheeseburgers, but also more upscale offerings. For my lunch I ordered a piece of salmon with wild rice and mixed vegetables. The salmon was extremely flavorful and the portions were reasonable for the price paid. I did like that the mixed vegetables included varieties such as purple cauliflower and yellow carrots. I decked a star for the service, as oftentimes it is slow, and we had a bad experience with a rude female wait staff. Other than that, the place is fantastic! While the food was delicious, the Service was subpar and felt like we were being profiled due to our age (both of us in our younger 30s), dressed more casually and me personally, (being of color).
