Great food. Good service. Nice ambiance. It's small and has a laidback, rustic vibe. It wasn't busy on a Thursday evening. But I can imagine that reservations are a must on the weekends. The drink menu has lots of options. I had the Waikiki martini, which was nice and made with the vodka I loved from Hawaii. The menu is definitely Pacific Northwest vibes, with a little San Francisco and Hawaii. Lots of great options. It was hard to choose. I finally settle on the steak frites which was solid. The food was over seasoned and underwhelming. Ribeye tasted like it was soaked in extra butter with a rosemary bush. It lost its flavor under the drowning. The BiBimbap was salty. Very salty. So salty in fact it could not be eaten. The salmon was cooked good and tasty. 2 out of 3 courses were not eaten. When we told the waitress she clearly checked with the cool (not a chef) as she basically said "oh well". In the end it's not a place we will return and doubt it will be open in a year. We have been fans of the Twisted Cork since back in the day, so I was excited to try this establishment run by the same group. Clean, modern interior, wood and metal, but surprisingly quiet even with a crowd. We really appreciated that aspect. We started with Mai Tais, a Penicillin (bourbon, lemon and ginger concoction) and a beer. All were well received. We werent overly famished, so some of us dined only on starters/shared plates, and others had the Encinitas Tacos (mahi mahi with spicy PEH seasoning and apple habanero salsa) -- which were surprisingly spicy to start, but that settled into a plate-cleaning deliciousness. The Whidbey Island Shrimp with the lime-avocado dressing were large and cooked just right. We added Pier 54 Clam Chowder, which was thick, creamy and very like New England but with large pieces of bacon. Next up -- Hawaiian Ahi Nachos -- I couldve eaten these all night! (Which is why you dont see a picture here. Once I started, it was hard to stop.) The ahi poke had just the right firmness and while I never thought I was a fan of fruity salsa, the pineapple salsa with this was the bomb! Lavosh is crisp and messy to bite, but the plain canvas was perfect for this dish. All desserts were big hits. The crisp shell of the berry turnover was wonderfully light. The oatmeal cookie a homemade memory and the cheesecake was dense and tasted of New York. Applause all around! read more

The waitress was knowledgeable about all of the offerings and even recommended the Lavender Bees Knees, which was one of the tastiest light cocktails with a heavy splash of booze, that I have ever had! What we failed to do? Take photos! I guess I will have to go back! My sis and I shared three offerings including the Brussels dish, Laura's Lahvosh, and the Bibimbap. We had food left over! I've been about 4 times. I keep wanting to like this place. On paper the menu sounds amazing. The same owners have Twisted Cork, which is a definite top 10 spot in Omaha. Not sure why they keep missing. I see other good reviews, but every time I have had mediocre service and mediocre food. My wife and I stopped in for dinner with some friends on a Thursday evening. The place is very cozy and welcoming. It was very quite and on the slow side. I'm a big a fan of their other restaurant locations so I was glad to finally get here. The menu is similar to their other spots. We shared some goat cheese dip which was delicious, gluten free and the strawberries with hot honey were very fun. I had the Sea bass and it was cooked to perfection, really hit the spot. My wife had the Bibimbap bowl, it was a touch spicy for her so thankfully they left that hot sauce on the side. We really like this place as they do a great job on gluten free needs and high quality ingredients. Our server/bartender was extremely pleasant and helpful. This is what Papillion has been waiting for. And needing. Great flavors, inviting ambience, and a straight up outstanding dining experience. It's perfect for date night. The only concern of the night occurred right at first: we were seated, our server came over quickly and introduced herself and gave us the menus, and then ... ? It wasn't very busy late on a Wednesday night so I was thinking she'd be right back. I was beginning to wonder if she'd forgotten us but then she showed up, immediately apologized (something unexpected must have happened), and was absolutely pitch perfect for the entire meal. Jackie got everything exactly right, was helpful, fast, professional, excellent all around. She made the meal even better! Other than that very brief, very minor, uncertainty right at the beginning, this was a perfect experience. The salad was tangy, tart, and immediately addictive. The steak and frites made my eyes roll back and want to eat all night. The clam chowder was creamy, rich, and shockingly good not just for the Midwest but for anywhere. The food here is legit fantastic. Even the lemon bar and the house made whipped cream were to die for. This is an elite addition that Papillion deserves and has desperately needed. Pine and Black Bistro is off to a promising start! The menu is extensive with a lot of Pacific Northwest inspired options. My drink of choice, the Blueberry Lavender Bee's Knee, was refreshing and addictive. Perfectly chilled and not too sweet. We started with the Oregon board which included crispy crackers and an excellent fig jam. For my entree I enjoyed the Honolulu Cobb and would absolutely order it again. The jalapeño lime vinaigrette goes very well with delicate white shrimp. My only complaint being the tiny pieces of mango, I think slices would be a better choice. On the downside, the tables are very close together. In fact the couple seated next to us said the same thing. lol Excited to see a new local option in Papillion! read more

Really a 3+ review. Newer restaurant located in Midlands Place adjacent to Spin Pizza. Interior consists of dark metal and wood accents. 15 or so tables and booths. Small bar as well. Staff were friendly. Music selection might not fit the best with the decor, a bit hard core. Menu is quite a bit farm to table. Consists of seafood, pork, beef, and chicken. Prices would be considered in the mid to higher range. Overall a pretty diverse menu with some good selections. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Tried a variety of dishes. Appetizer was brussel sprouts that also had cauliflower. Small portion, but it was tasty. Entrees we're Mac and cheese, mixed salad, Teriyaki Chicken, Chicken Marsala, and the house cheeseburger. The ladies enjoyed the chicken dishes. The Mac and cheese was kind of plain and could have used a bit more salt and pepper or some other seasoning. The burger just was not for me, I did not find the taste to be very pleasant. It may have been because of the pickled onions, but normally I like thing s like that. Would not get it again. Plenty other options on the menu. Definitely worth a look, but not somewhere we could eat regularly due to the pricing. read more

By the choices, I wouldn't have known this was a tapas restaurant if I hadn't had seen it tagged on Yelp as one. I enjoyed the bibimbap with salmon/shrimp substitute (very tender shrimp and seasoned salmon); lots of veggies and rice, side of sauce and kimchi! I believe this is a sister restaurant to Pacific Eating House in West O. Similarly excellent food. Salads are unique and flavorful. Fish and chips are good but not great. A bit more upscale that a typically lunch/brunch place. Service was attentive, polite and knowledgeable. Price is a bit high for lunches, but the food quality justifies it. One thing that would make the place better would better a daily food and/or drink special. Keep the menu changing a bit, advertise it well and it will likely keep the finicky Papillion dining crowd coming through the door. Definitely a repeat place for a nice upscaled lunch. read more

I came in tonight for dinner and while the food that I got was really good, I took stars off because i have celiac disease and a lot of the "gluten free" items on the menu are not actually gluten free. It is very misleading to label something allergen free when it's still cooked in the same fryer. You would not label something "nut free" if it was cooked in peanut oil, so there is absolutely no reason to assume that it's okay to do for gluten. I always have high hopes for restaurants starting out in Papillion and try to patronize them. We had 3 in our party and got there right at 5pm when they opened. They asked if we had a reservation, we did not , and informed that they had reservations at 6:45 for the table we were seated at. The dining area is small and all the tables are cramped so little to no privacy around the other tables. The quality of the food was average and I was still hungry when we left. I ordered the $38.00 ribeye, it was disappointing. Lot of fat and gristle, 5 or 6 small white potatoes. The two other meals they said were really good. I won't go back but my wife and her friend liked the food but not the atmosphere. We were so spoiled when Farmer Brown's was in Papillion nothing else has even come close to that dining experience. We really loved! Black and Pine Bistro tonight. It is the very best meal we have had since moving back to the Midwest. Their lemon drop was perfect. We tried Laura 's Lavosh and it was soooo yummy! goat cheese, mozzarella , pesto, and fig. It was soooo good. I had the scallops and brussel sprouts and both were delicious. Adam had the halibut and enjoyed. We will defiantly be back! The only small drawback was perhaps we were served too quickly for our preference. New restaurant that has a large wine selection from the west coast and from France. Food is American and inspired from the west coast as well (Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and California). Service is great, ambiance is based off of where you are seated in the dining area - brighter in the front of the restaurant and more intimate in the back with candle light at each table. Wouldn't consider this place a steakhouse however this is far better than your typical Cheesecake Factory. Steaks are cooked well and to our specifications. Their burgers are decorated with interesting flavors from their pickled onions their fusion of gluten free tacos with jasmine white rice that surprised me with a hint of coconut (good attention to detail). This seems to be a restaurant where everyone can get what they want and reminds me of the west coast. Wine glasses are amazing - well balanced and appropriate difference if you are going for a red or white. Would recommend trying it out read more

Food was good. Tiny portions, though. Childish server complained very loudly about a $20 tip, which I think was more than adequate considering the bill consisted of mostly overpriced drinks. I put my time in serving and that's so inappropriate. I ended up throwing her an extra ten out of shame, but hindsight I wish I hadn't. I started with the Jalisco Disco- so refreshing. The lavosh was amazing...wanted to lick the plate good. Also, shared the brussels and cauliflower, which were well cooked and tasty. I had the scallops- again, delicious. The butter on the plate offered such a unique flavor, and everything complemented each other nicely. This type of restaurant is much needed for Papillion. Really enjoyed this new restaurant in Papillion! They offer some different cuts of steak like flank and skirt. My steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The mushrooms were fresh and complimentary and not overpowering. Cocktails were made with fresh ingredients and mixes which was a differentiator. The wine list, especially for Pinot Noir lovers, was diverse. The service received was perfect, attentive when needed and left alone to enjoy our conversation.
