Cutest little winery! They've got an inside space with huge windows, a partial covered patio for the nicer days, and a lawn with a stage for entertainment. Check their website for events. All the servers were really sweet. Their wine list is quite long. A lot of them are on the more sweet side (even on the dry side of the menu). Make sure to ask questions when you're ordering! They have flights to taste test before getting a bottle. For snacks they've got bread and charcuterie boards. read more

For a winery in Nebraska this location is amazing. It's on a hill, sort of in the middle of nowhere, and you'll be listening to birds chirping and the trees blowing in the wind. You can sit indoors or outdoors and there's a shop inside as well. The food is amazing! I have taken my parents here when they come in town, and they enjoy the wines as well. They have quite a few blend selections ranging from dry to sweet and I've been multiple parties come in for carafes of the sangria (but it's too sweet for me). Get a charcuterie board, definitely try the Edelweiss, Rocky's Red, 2 Hearts 2 Souls and the tickled pink and summer blush are great as well. Their wines are on the sweeter end to me. If you are a wine lover you are sure to find something (or a few) to tantalize your taste buds! The deck and patio are spacious and offer beautiful views. It's the perfect place for date nights or just meeting up with friends and/or family for a peaceful night out. In the summer (June through mid-August) they have live music outdoor every Saturday evening and the ticket price is very reasonable (take advantage of their wonderful seating or bring your own chairs/blankets and sit on the lawn). I have sampled all their wines and have nothing but wonderful things to say about each! My favorite ones are Linoma Lighthouse, Cherry Breeze, always the Sangria, Wild Rose, and Rocky's Red. They offer a great selection of sweet and dry wines. The service is ALWAYS great. They are quick to get out food and wine flights to everyone, especially on busy weekends. Cellar 426 is the perfect spot for a nice afternoon wine tasting, or an evening date night. We loved all the sampling options they have, as well as the ample indoor and outdoor seating! Definitely worth checking out their events for the summer because they also have a nice stage out back to host events and live music shows. We each did the 5 1ounce tasting menu in order to try as much as possible. I went for the sweeter side of the menu. My personal favorite was the summer sangria. Full of light fruit flavors and refreshing wine undertones. Also tried their charcuterie plate and seasonal cheesecake - what an amazing addition to our wines! Seems like the place is changing. We have been going there for years. Last weekend a worker rudely came up to us and told us we needed to keep track of the kids that we had with us. I pointed at my niece who was with her mom the entire time. She asked where the boy was. We didn't have a boy with us so not sure who she was referring to. No apologies. This place has my heart. Such a beautiful, little piece of land in eastern Nebraska that has the wine to back it up. The flights they have are a great price for $7 or $12 dollars and you can sample SO much of what they have to offer. We tried more than I care to share, but the Rocky's Red along with their Apple Pie cider were a homerun for myself and my not always in the wine drinking mood husband. The view there is phenomenal from indoors to outside on their gorgeous patio. Our time inside was so warn and inviting. The wine goddess we had behind the counter was a treat to talk with and hear about her family and sons. Meh. I've only had one halfway decent wine from Nebraska or Iowa and this place doesn't qualify. Adam Smith was absolutely right about natural advantage. California excels at wine. The women working here are extremely helpful and sweet to all of their customers, wonderful hospitality. The wine flights were delicious, although a little pricey for the small-ish servings. The ciabatta bread and butter are a MUST if you come here! I've been to Cellar 426 several times and have always been impressed with the great service, good food and some of the best wines anywhere, not just Nebraska. The staff is all very helpful and friendly. The music series is especially enjoyable on Saturday nights in the summer. Unfortunately, now that autumn is here, I must wait until next summer for the music. The wines here are delicious! The man at the register took the time to explain what everything was and even gave his opinion on one we should try based on our liking. The food was also good. The only complaint I have is that for the prices, I wish there was more on the charcuterie board. The man helping us told us it would be enough to feed the three of us that went, and it was barely enough for two. We were happy we got the extra bread and cheese plates. We even went back to try the cheesecakes. They were okay. I preferred the white chocolate raspberry to the chocolate caramel. read more

They are a fairly new tasting room, open less than a year. It is an easy drive from I-80 and you are on real roads until you get to their access road. The facility is a modern looking lodge style tasting room. Beautiful fireplace to accent one corner with windows all around for the great hilltop view. Another wall had a pair windows looking down into the winery itself. They were selling a total of 8 wines from which you got to select 5 for the tasting. Like every winery we visited in Nebraska, their selection leaned heavily towards the sweet and semi-sweet white wines. They only had 2 reds, but we liked one, the slightly sweet Rocky's Red. It was a decent enough wine when chilled, to sip on their patio and gaze off into the distance. read more

Cellar 426 has a lot of good things going. Live music. Wonderful facilities. Great views. The wine offerings are numerous and pretty reasonable. They host events -- one can see why, it's a really nice space. Kid friendly. Reasonably priced tastings. Just a couple of little niggles that keep me from giving that fifth star, though. The wines are, well, Nebraska wines. You won't confuse yourself thinking you're in Sonoma or Napa. And the meat & cheese tray had little variety and the portion sizes were cumbersome. Perhaps something more along the lines of an actual charcuterie offering would be better. This would be a wonderful place to spend a warm evening, out on the deck, while sipping your wine and listening to the live music. Liked the Cellar 426 one day when we closed them down, and went back the next day. A great place to meet friends and have a glass of wine. Staff very personable, but just a few things that do not allow that 5 star rating... Choice of dry red wine was limited. They were out of two favorites of their dry wines, and the available had a very oaky taste. that was fine for us, we just ordered another bottle of sweet wine. The next day, we ordered Sangria....a warm day around 4pm, and needed four glasses. Needed something cool....and four glasses. Unfortunately, I was handed 2 HOT glasses just out of dishwasher I guess...not good for serving wine...I am not a wine expert and do not drink wine at all, but the staff should be aware of this. Otherwise, we will go back and enjoy the atmosphere....nice place read more

Hidden little winery off the beaten path. We were actually headed back from Glacial Till when we saw a small sign for winery pointing up a gravel road. So we whipped a u-turn and headed toward the arrow. The road was pretty rough but once u got up it the winery popped out. It's still being worked on but it was beautiful. Tastings were 5 for $6 which is so damn reasonable considering we came from wine county in San Diego and $20 was the rate for such. We went out on the deck and it was a beautiful view. The trees and hills felt like we were In a completely different state. It was very relaxing. We finished off our tasters and paid with a credit card. I would bring a couple $1's as there was nowhere to tip on the credit card receipt (or tell her to add it on your bill). The tasters were great, but we decided not to get a bottle yet. They were a bit to much for my wallet as most were $16-17sh. Maybe one of these days. read more

I don't know how I didn't know this place was here for years as we are always visiting NE and IA wineries but I am sad for the years I have missed and now will have to make up for it. Very nice wines for every taste, great setting and view but the cherry on top is the super friendly staff. They made us so comfortable and nice pours on tastings. I really liked how they kept a card to keep track so you could go back to your table and enjoy your tastings with your party. Second time back and a MUCH better experience! We were looking for a place that was: 1) Open on the 4th of July 2) Dog friendly Cellar 426 met both criteria and was on the way to our B&B for the night! My favorite thing still about this place is the patio/deck area. It is really new, spacious, and extremely well-shaded. It was absolutely perfect today with the warm weather and nice, light breeze. The service was much improved from the first time we visited. Within 30 seconds of arriving, I was greeted by a very friendly man. I mentioned that I wanted a bottle of wine. He pointed me in the direction of Sweet 'n Sexy. I tried a taste and was sold. It was the perfect amount of sweet for a hot day and $16. In addition to the good wine, we ordered a cheese plate (came with two types of cheese, two types of crackers, olives, and prosciutto). We also ordered the ciabatta bread served with herbed butter. Both were absolutely delicious. Finally, we got a piece of cheesecake. We went with the strawberry topping. Again, very good! All of this was only for about $35, and it all came out really quickly. In sum, great way to spend my 4th of July. I would highly recommend them and I'm glad I gave them a second chance. read more

Since I was a kid, going to a winery was on my bucketlist. Well I fulfilled that here yesterday! It was amazing and sooo beyond gorgeous. The owner was absolutely awesome and so accommodating. First of all, if you enjoy wine (even a little bit), I suggest taking a day trip doing tastings at the many wineries around the Lincoln metro. I've found that each region of the US has a unique wine culture and Nebraska is no different. Cellar 42 would be a great stop on a short wine tour or for just for a visit on a weekend afternoon. The location is beautiful - the decor and ambience are sunny, inviting, but sophisticated (some wineries seem to thrive on kitsch). And if you're looking for kitsch, you can find it with a sequined "drink up, bitches" t-shirt. But, overall, it's just a nice place. The patio with a view of the vines, trees, and Lincoln in the distance...it's a great place to try some wine. Spectacular sunsets. Live music from time to time. It's an experience. I'd recommend a wine tasting...you get to choose five from their list for $5. They have a nice (but not overwhelming) variety of wines that range from dry to sweet with rosés, reds, whites, dessert wines, and sangria. I think that most palates can find a wine they like, even if Nebraska wines tend to run sweet. Don't expect the sublety of a California varietal. Many of those grapes we're used to (chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, etc.) don't grow in Nebraska. Try some of the local grapes like marquette, traminette, brianna, edelweiss. I'm really impressed that Cellar 426 has a Seyval Blanc - it's the first I've seen in the region! The staff seems nice and they know their Cellar 426 wines. The food is pretty nice for a Nebraska winery as well. Typically, you'll find a box of crackers and some cheese but Cellar 426 has some Le Quartier ciabatta, herbed butter, olive oil bread dip, cheesecake, chocolate covered cherries... it's more than your typical winery snacks. I recommend the Aspire Reserve Marquette. It's one of the best Nebraska wines I've tried. I'm looking forward to a return trip to try some more wines and spend some time on their porch for those views. read more
