Monolithic Brewing has quickly become one of my favorite little neighborhood hangouts. Tucked into a spot that's seen a few restaurants and bars over the years, this version feels like it finally fits. While the space is a bit smaller now (they lost the side unit), it still has those great open doors at the back and a patio that overlooks a peaceful little pond and fountain. The patio is easily my favorite spot to sit, sip, and unwind. Their brews are where they shine, and the Benevolent Sun (a hazy IPA) is my go-to. It's bright, citrusy, and basically sunshine in a glass--perfect for those laid-back patio visits. I'm also a big fan of the Chupacabra, their Mexican-style lager that's super drinkable and pairs perfectly with everything. They do have a small food menu--think wraps, sandwiches, and apps--and while it's not extensive, it's solid. The Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap hits the spot, and I always order the Chips and Beer Cheese to go along with my beer (especially with a Chupacabra in hand). As one of the owners told us during a visit, "We're a brewery that has food, not a restaurant that serves beer." And honestly? They own that identity in the best way. Walking into Monolithic, I expected to see an actual monolith in some form, but sadly there was none. One of the owners, a very personable man who clearly loves what he's doing, said one of his partners was a fan of the movie Space Odyssey and the name was sort of derived from that. Going by the definition: monolithic are single, unified applications, it kind of fits with the brewery effort to produce an excellent product. We really enjoyed our beer, but the whole experience fell a bit short. The space was very industrial and therefore noisy, which made conversation difficult. I did like the step-up upholstered banquette seating. It was very comfortable, probably more so than the ladder back chairs at the tables. The bar staff were inattentive once our initial beer was served. Maybe they hadn't realized we were also getting food. I had a plain hamburger, which was a mistake on my part because plain truly meant plain. I hadn't realized how much the flavor of a burger relies on the accompaniments. The monolithic shandy I ordered was very refreshing and perfect. Big bro liked his Bob's burger with bacon, sauce, and cheese. He ordered neoteric haze, which he really liked. Both burgers were served with a small bag of chips. We also had a basket of ordinary corn chips accompanied by a tiny cup of bland salsa. The menu indicated that there were vegan options(veg*), but I only saw one--the pretzel--probably plain with no cheese sauce. The focus is naturally on the brews, but the bar food menu needs a bit of finesse. Maybe if the ambiance was cozier, we would have stayed longer and sampled more brews. By all means stop in if you are a beer aficionado. read more

As I have visited monolithic more over the years, I am glad to say it seems they are in it for the long-haul... Despite the somewhat weird location (which is now out of my way a bit) I still would say it's worth making the trek from Midtown Omaha, or wherever else you might be located. Family friendly in the afternoons, a nice spot for happy hour, casual vibes. Tasty food. Patio with ambient fountains and a lake. Plus REALLY GOOD and inventive beers that are some of my favorites in town and have really grown on me. What's not to love? read more

We are very excited to have a great Brewery/restaurant two minutes away from our house. There are so many chains in the area; it's awesome to have a new option! The location is spacious. There is a long bar and a mix of high top and low top tables that seat 6 people, but could probably squeeze in a few more if you have a larger party. There is also a great patio that overlooks a water feature, and garage doors that open the inside space up to the outside. I wish dogs were able to join on the patio, but that is currently not the case. Service was great - we were greeted and served with a smile the entire evening. My husband tried the Totally Buggin' IPA. I hate IPAs, but he said it was pretty good. I tried the Prickly Pear Chupacabra, and I could definitely pick up on the notes of prickly pear and watermelon. Next time we go, I want to do a flight. We each had a burger, as well. My husband had the House Smoked Burger, and he kept mentioning how much he loved the pickle-onion-ketchup slaw and the awesome bread it came on. I tried the Beer Cheese Burger, and it was so good. I loved the beer cheese, but the star of the burger was the raspberry-chipotle jam. The burgers come with a side of potato chips. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that as the restaurant gains more traction they will add the option to get French fries (please!!) We look forward to coming back and bringing friends! read more

Tasty beers on a surprisingly nice patio. Made for an awesome evening. I particularly liked (to my own surprise) the Feisty Walrus. The indoor space is a bit too open for my taste - it's like it hasn't figured out what it wants to be when it fully develops. It's just really big and open and spacious and ... that's it. Once they figure out how to bring it to life, it should be really nice. It's just not there yet. But the beers are well-crafted and the servers are friendly, so it's definitely worth a visit. read more

This place is super nostalgic, as I met my husband here when it was the loose moose lol boy has it changed a lot inside! This is now only one bay of the strip but they've done wonders with the seating to get a lot of people in at a social distance. I liked that they offer build your own flights so you can try one of their 14 taps. They're definitely making a lot IPAs so if that's your jam you'll be happy. I liked their citra and hef brews. We didn't try the food but their brunch burger looks really good! They're a good follow on Instagram. Happy to see a new brewery in this part of town. read more

The space Monolithic now occupies has been a handful of restaurants/bars over the years. I don't know what the "secret sauce" for success is, but I hope Monolithic has it! Really creative brews - taken up a notch by partnering with local orchards and vineyards as well as bars (Casual Pint). The beer menu rotates and they provide flights as well as full pours and to-go crowlers. They also offer a small, but thoughtful food menu. Don't know how to start this other than to say beergasm. So there's a lot of breweries I five star that have good beer, but monolithic (at least at the time of visiting) has mastered getting a strong malt/grain flavor into their 'monolithic light' and 'feisty walrus'. That is missing from the vast majority of beers I encounter. Not sure what they do, but that 'brew day brewery smell' that you wish you could drink is in the glass. Staff was friendly, nice patio in the back with a gas fire pit, nice clean and spacious interior. We got a 'gyro' quesadilla which was interesting and good. Monolithic has been open almost a year, and quickly became my favorite go-to neighborhood hang out! The staff is super friendly and will be able to recommend a drink for your tastes. The beer list has a great variety, but the Hazy IPAs really stand out for me. You will find everything from a light beer, to a sour, to a milk stout. They don't make a bad beer! They have a small kitchen, where they do some amazing snacks and smoked burgers! Recently they had a Cuban sandwich special that will rival any other Cuban I've had in town, the smoked pork was absolutely delicious. Be sure to check their social media before you visit for weekly specials and beer releases. The space is well spread out for distancing, with plenty of bar seating available, and an absolutely beautiful patio for nice days, complete with umbrellas, fire pits, and a fountain view! The craft beers here are amazing. My favorite is the pink lemonade and the watermelon. I attended the national hot dog day. Monolithic Brewing partnered with Willie's hot dog. These were delicious. Went to brewery a few weeks ago. Very disappointed. Our group was the only table to not be served within 30 minutes of seating. After placing our drink order, no one returned. We went to the bar to order our food. It was brought to the table, but the server didn't ask if we needed additional drinks. I believe that all customers should be treated with respect regardless of their sexual orientation. The manner that our party was treated is appalling. read more

A few new breweries in Omaha and Elkhorn didn't quite have their lineups in top shape when opening. Understood. It's quite a learning curve to make good beer taste great. Monolithic did not make that mistake. Shane and the gang brought their A game to northwest Omaha. Housed in the old Loose Moose bay near 120th and Fort, Monolithic offers several IPA variations to choose from, a Hefeweizen that's on point, a Monolithic light, seasonals, sessions and experimental. I tried samples of the Strawberry Basil and Mango Pineapple along with the IPA I was enjoying. And a light and refreshing fruit punch kombucha made by Fisheye Kombucha out of Fort Calhoun. Very tasty. Food is offered but limited. Elaina was on kitchen duty made a delicious black and blue burger that was served with a bag of chips. Next time I'll add bacon. Overall, very satisfied with what we tasted at Monolithic. Worth the effort. read more

Monolithic is another great brewery in town thats in a good position to get traffic in the door. Being at 120th and fort places it squarely in the middle of town for someone who lives in midtown like myself. Not as far west as Jukes, or as far southwest as Bearded Brewer. With having much better quality beer than thunderhead, Monolithic is my go to not quite west o brewery. Monolithic excels at IPAs and has fantastic food to boot. Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a good beer on that side of town. read more

We cane here for a YelpElite event for national hotdog day. The Good: We organized event within a crowded brewery full of peopl3 enjoying their evening. The different brews tasted very good. We even had the pleasure to chat with the co-owner for a while and tell us his story about opening the brewery. This is a very clean place with friendly staff. The hotdogs aren't their regular menu, however were a partnership with a local vendor. The hotdogs were nothing crazy fancy but definitely tested amazing. Worked for us as I don't think that 73 hotdog options are needed. The Bad: Some of the staff seemed a little confused. Only order food from certain ones and drinks from others, which made it a bit complicated to order more food when you're told oh I don't do that. The Ugly Truth: This is a great brewery/bar with local involved owners that truly care about your experience here. Beer selection was great and we will try their regular food next time. I am a midtown snob. I rarely go west of 60th street for dining and entertainment. I was drawn to Monolithic by my colleagues and my love of beer and found myself pleasantly surprised! I like this West O place. It has a simple but relaxing atmosphere and an interesting assortment of beers. I enjoyed the Feisty Walrus. I also liked the beer named after a creature from folklore, Chupacabra, gotta love a beer whose name is literally translated to "goat sucker"...quite refreshing. The food selection was limited and portions were small, but if your not planning to eat a big meal you should be fine. I enjoyed this place, I liked the beers and this Midtown snob just might make a special trip to return to this West O brewery. read more
