So much to say... I'm visiting Omaha a few times a year and Semo has been on my list of restaurant to try for a couple of years and I'm so glad we finally got to try it. We were welcomed by Paris who would be our waitress for the evening. She's very personable and you can count on her for recommandations. A little glas of sparkling wine as a palet cleanser and to put you in the mood and we were ready to order. We decided to share an order of bread and butter and the radish crudites. Both really it the spot. The bread we prefered was the challah and the whipped ricotta that comes with the radish is so good. We also had some Count of Monte Cosmo cocktails After Paris recommended it I went for Campanelle with pistachio pesto and my husband chose the halibut. I love pasta and you can definitely tell those are made from scratch. The pesto was very good not too oily and very flavorful. The fish was cooked to perfection, crispy crust on one side, melty on the other side and it made a perfect combination. It is served on a bed of lentil hummus with fennel and radishes that adds some earthiness and blends really well with the fish. We shared the birthday cake for dessert topped with cake batter ice cream and sprinkles. The cake is made from scratch (and gluten free) and it's to die for. My husband is all about ice cream and with this dessert he couldn't care less. The cake stole the show. We had a little chat with the bartender (I'm so sorry I should have asked for your name) after having hesitated between the Sumocello and Clemencello (both homemade) and she recommanded the Sumocello. Based on smell it's a winner. It just smells so good and it tastes as good as it smells. The service was outstanding. The food speaks for itself but having waiting staff that cares and shares is a huge plus to me (being european). We had such a great evening. We enjoyed the food, we enjoyed the atmosphere, we enjoyed the people, we enjoyed ourselves... We're moving to Omaha early next year and Semo will definitely be part of our rotation but I'm sure it will become our favorite restaurant in the area. Thank you so much to all members of the team. Semo never disappoints! We met friends from Lincoln for dinner and they fell in love as well. You are always greeted like they have been waiting to see you. We were taken to our table right away and had the menus presented. They give you plenty of time to make your choices and are very willing to explain any of the dishes to you. We had the Salmon Rillettes as a starter. Delicious smoked salmon and amazing sourdough bread. I had the Mafaldine and Wagyu Bolognese for the main. Handmade pasta with are rich meat filled sauce. Great choice. For dessert wee shared the Lemon Budino. It tasted like a fresh lemon meringue pie without the crust. Very refreshing! Semo offers a cozy restaurant experience with friendly, attentive staff and Italian cuisine made with a caring touch. I'm salivating just writing this review! We had an incredible experience at Semo, one I know that wasn't just an isolated instance. You can tell that the entire staff cares about their restaurant, the people who enter and the neighborhood they're in. We were seated by our server who already had the table set up. Throughout the night, our server was so kind, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I'm only regretting not getting her name to give her a proper shoutout! Chef/Owner Drew walked in shortly after we sat and he was kind enough to stop in and visit with us for a while. The space is such a vibe. Between the classic bar, exposed brick, wine shelves, open kitchen space and mismatched plates and china, I felt like I was in a true Italian market. For drinks, we both started with the old fashioned. The drink is so simple, yet they still managed to put a spin on it to make it even better. I'm not even sure how to describe how it was slightly different and better, but it was so just take my word for it. As for the food, it may sound like a hyperbole but EVERYTHING we ate was fantastic. I'm not a huge fish fan, but I indulged my husband who wanted to try the halibut starter which came with perfectly crispy and buttery focaccia. They may have turned me into a halibut fan with this one dish! We also tried the tomato salad, which was so fresh and flavorful, it was if they went out back to pick the tomatoes and herbs minutes before serving it to me. For mains, my husband and I split a pistachio pesto with stuffed rigatoni and chicken thighs. It sounds heavy, but the dish was so bright and delicious, it was easy to finish. We also had to get the tajarin and truffle as they're known for their truffle dishes. It came with a HUGE mound of shaved truffles so it was well worth the price even with that. We also tried a few other dishes that the table got, including the bolognese and a mushroom risotto. Let me tell you, I don't often order bolognese because it's usually pretty "basic". But wow. This dish was perfect. The meat was perfectly salty and fatty but not overly rich. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the cheese on top rounded out the dish. We ended this incredible meal with some digestives and one of every dessert because we couldn't pick which included Chef's classic butterscotch budino which is always our go to. Do yourself a favor and book your reservation now! And bring friends so you can try more things (or just be ready to other one of everything...)! read more

I will not be able to articulate how impressed I am with this establishment. The ambiance is warm but elegant. Loved that you can watch them make pasta (even passing by outside the window you could stop and watch!) I took my boyfriend here when he visited from out of town, and I took him here as well as to many reputable restaurants all over Omaha. He said of all the places we went, Semo was his favorite. I think our server's name was Megan? She was wonderful, super helpful and attentive. They don't specialize in steak but the wagyu striploin my boyfriend ordered was next level, better than what we had at a steakhouse the next day. The squid ink spaghettini with bay scallops & romesco sauce was incredible and quite a large helping. I had lots of leftovers the next day. The salmon rillettes with fresh sourdough bread they bake in-house was insaaaaane, so salty and full of flavor. I am sure the chefs could tell from across the room that I was enjoying it by all the noise I was making as I ate it. And for dessert I loved the butterscotch budino. This place is AMAZING! If you are a pasta lover, you NEED to check this place out! This European-inspired Nebraskan restaurant is located in downtown Fremont. You can taste the creativity and care infused in every bite and drink at this place. Our table ordered the Egg Nog and Cranberry Daquiri cocktails to start things out and both were exquisite. Next we ordered the Tagliatelle+Black Winter Truffle Pasta and the Mafaldine+Wagyu Bolognese. The flavors were out of this world and the portioning was generous. We had a marvelous time at Semo Pasta + Wine. We went for our anniversary. My wife is also 7 months pregnant but on arrival they brought us a specialty n/a sparkling flavored water. Which already was above and beyond anything we expected. Our waiter was very good, answered questions and explained all parts of the menu. We started with the bread and house made butter which was infused with fresh herbs. Highly recommend! I had an old fashioned to drink which I thoroughly enjoyed. The back bone bourbon was very good in it. For main dishes I ordered the tagliatelle with smoked pork. The smoked pork was melt in your mouth good. My wife who isn't a huge fan of pork even commented how good it was after I made her try it. She ordered the radiatore with spicy sausage ragu. This was the star of the night for me personally and the wife really enjoyed it as well. For dessert we got the ice cream with the cappuccino poured over the top. I can't remember the name and forgot a picture of the dessert menu. It was also very very good. They take your plate and box everything in the back for you and bag it. Then after we payed our check and were about to leave the manager/maybe owner came over and gave us another bag with a smaller bottle of champagne and another sparkling water with a note saying happy anniversary and with our upcoming baby and it was signed by the staff. Our second visit to Semo was for our anniversary. I'd noted on the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and Semo went over the top to make our dinner special. The most disappointing part of my visit to Semo, is the fact I have to drive ALL THE WAY TO FREMONT to eat there. Seriously though, why can't this be right down the street from my house? My first stop in was fantastic. We made a reservation for 8:45, not realizing they closed at 9 until we walked up to the door. We offered to leave, but the man who greeted us ensured us it was fine and welcomed us in. The wall of wine was a very exciting experience for my fiancee, and she proceeded to dig through their expansive selection while I started making food choices. We started with the lobster bisque. Now, I personally am a lobster bisque aficionado. If it's available, I will order it. Semo's presentation was probably one of the best I've ever seen - the bisque itself seemed to be based on a squash or gourd base which was different than the other bisques I've tried. Still tasted incredible! The pasta dishes we're next level - but the real star of the show was the steak with the fingerling potatoes. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, potatoes creamy and delightful, I still dream about this dish at night. Oh, and the presentation? Again, absolutely stunning. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. For dinner we each ordered a pasta dish. It's hard to pass up when all the pasta is made in house! My husband had the Tagliatelle Bolognese and I had Fiorentini + Sweet Corn. Both of our dishes were excellent- very fresh and flavorful. The ambiance is casual and cozy - very inviting. Don't wait, go to Semo. This restaurant is found in historic downtown Fremont, Nebraska. Upon entry, the host greeted us and quickly seated us at a wonderful little table, he asked if we were celebrating anything special and when we stated it was our anniversary he brought us each a lovely complementary drink. The interior is warm and inviting. Our server was next level amazing, he was great about explaining dishes and making recommendations. For our starters we had eggplant, Pomodoro, and a fresh bread bowl, both were delicious. For our entrées enjoyed wagyu bolognese and basil spaghettini, and scallops, both made with house crafted fresh pasta. I can't even truly put into words how delicious both dishes were. My bolognese was just the right ratio of pasta, meat and sauce, it was the best version of this pasta dish I have ever eaten. My husband's spaghettini was a delicious new dish for us. For dessert we enjoyed a peach crisp and a Blondie brownie type dessert, (sorry can't remember the exact name). My husband and I shared these and both agreed it was impossible to pick a favorite. Absolute gem. I recently moved back to Fremont after living 30+ years in Los Angeles. Semo is truly one of the best restaurants I have ever been too. Service is so friendly and every step from greeting to paying the bill, the staff was so personal. The food is worthy of a Michelin star restaurant with pasta cooked to perfection.
