Canoe from Deliverance
David R.

Great steakhouse in a really small town. Had dinner and drinks out here with some friends. This place is know for their steaks, and we were not disappointed. They have a number of sauces they can put on the steaks, we had ours cooked on the charbroiler without sauces. Everything was cooked great. Check out the canoe from the movie "Deliverance" that is hanging in one of back rooms. A lot of character in a nice restaurant.

In our search for places to eat, we came across reviews for the Office Bar & Grill. We were feeling adventurous, so we got in the car and went to Hooper! I had the 12 oz ribeye (made classic) with baked potato, while the wife had the two-piece broasted chicken. I am particular about how I like my steak, that is, medium well. On one hand I can count the number of places that have gotten it right in the last five years. Office Bar & Grill got it right. The steak was was most flavorful, with my knife cutting through it easily. The baked potato was cooked to perfection and had a good flavor. Wife doesn't like sour cream, so I got a bonus! The beer cheese soup was salty, though it had a good flavor otherwise. Wife liked the broasted chicken, with the baked potato being nommy. Near the end of the meal, she hit a low point. The potato had a rotten spot in it. While I am but an amateur cook, even I know how to clean potatoes for cooking, including removing the bad spots. That marred an otherwise excellent meal. Stacie, our waitress, was abrupt at first, but seemed to become more friendly as our visit continued. Since this was our first visit, we had questions about some dishes. Upon asking about if the crab meat was canned for the crab cakes, she just stared at us as if what little answer she gave was acceptable. The wife spent considerable time in Maryland, so she abhors canned crab meat. Overall, the food was great, with the service needing some improvement. Not sure if we will be back, but that steak was mighty tasty.

The food is always good. The owners work at this business themselves and put an enormous effort in to customer service.

OMG, I haven't had a burger this good in a really long time! There were so many things to choose…read morefrom on the menu, but I had to try the chicken fried hamburger, what a fantastic idea for a burger.... And it's comes with a side of country gravy just like chicken fried steak, how could I not try a special burger like that.... And I was not disappointed! It was wonderful, so juicy and flavorful, with the breading surrounding a hand made patty, dipped into that thick, got peppery gravy.... So, so, so good. My wife chose the mushroom Swiss Burger and tots. She couldn't finish the whole burger, it was a big Burger with lots of tots, so I got to try it. She had be reaching about it all the time we were eating, as was I about my burger, and I wasn't sure I could eat the small little sliver she had left but she gave it to me to try and, wow.... It was really as good as what I got. So much cheese and mushrooms, and the burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you find yourself out near Fremont Nebraska, close to a one horse town named Nickerson, with a bar and grill named the One Horse Saloon, stop and eat.... Don't pass this place up. Btw....as we were getting ready to leave, the couple next to us ordered ribs, and I almost say back down for another meal. So many great choices.... We have got to come back here.

It's not often places make me ask the dear waitress actual questions about what I'm tasting, and I…read morehad to ask TWICE! First off, the gravy on the Chicken Fried Chicken is SAUSAGE gravy (no actual sausage bits, but they serve breakfast until 4p and it's their sausage & biscuit gravy!) unless you're prepared for it, it kinda stops ya in your tracks; IF you've never had it. It's SO GOOD. And we had it tonight! Well T did... and lemme tell you it's goooood. Very rich! But highly recommended. A warm baked potatoe with just sour cream and butta and AHMAZING baked beans with smoked pulled pork! I snagged their special, the 3-piece Walleye with fries, and either soup or salad. Traditional salad with a sweet ranch (wasn't my favorite), and crisp tomato. The Walleye... was superb, and if you're a crispy fry person, THESE are for you! Their coleslaw was also sweetly based, and I gladly passed that to T (just not a sweet based kinda gal). Also grabbed their Rustic Remedy - with a kick - and wooosaw was there one! Fruity, citrusy, clean and refreshing just as they described. Not a whole lot of folks there tonight but if you're in the area, or want some excellent eats, I suggest you stop by. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Let me start of by pointing out the obvious, this restaurant gets good reviews…read more I am not sure if it is from all the friendly Woodcliff locals who dine here nightly, the ambiance of the rustic brick and lumber building , the friendly staff, or the great food, but the reviews don't line. This is a MUST TRY kinda place if you find yourself anywhere close to Woodcliff Lake. Being that it was our first visiting here, our server Ainsley was very patient with us and gave us time to look over the menu. We both opted for the house salad to start. Very good!! Being that it was Thursday and every Thursday is burger night, we both ordered the house special the " I dip, you dip, we French dip". It's an all beef burger topped with roast beef , grilled onions and Swiss cheese. Served with a your choice of sides and a bowl of as Au Jus . I'm going to go out on a limb here and honestly say that I cannot remember a time that I had a better burger than this. It wasn't all the French dip toppings that made it so memorable, it was the beef patty that was cooked and seasoned to perfection. This lends us to believe that all their burgers are going to be amazing. We will be going back.
