We love small dive bars and this one is great. We stopped for lunch after hearing the food was so good. Husband had the patty melt with tater tots and I had the black and bleu wrap with steak bites. Very good. Wait staff were polite and helpful. Cute little town! read more

Great steakhouse in a really small town. Had dinner and drinks out here with some friends. This place is know for their steaks, and we were not disappointed. They have a number of sauces they can put on the steaks, we had ours cooked on the charbroiler without sauces. Everything was cooked great. Check out the canoe from the movie "Deliverance" that is hanging in one of back rooms. A lot of character in a nice restaurant. read more

In our search for places to eat, we came across reviews for the Office Bar & Grill. We were feeling adventurous, so we got in the car and went to Hooper! I had the 12 oz ribeye (made classic) with baked potato, while the wife had the two-piece broasted chicken. I am particular about how I like my steak, that is, medium well. On one hand I can count the number of places that have gotten it right in the last five years. Office Bar & Grill got it right. The steak was was most flavorful, with my knife cutting through it easily. The baked potato was cooked to perfection and had a good flavor. Wife doesn't like sour cream, so I got a bonus! The beer cheese soup was salty, though it had a good flavor otherwise. Wife liked the broasted chicken, with the baked potato being nommy. Near the end of the meal, she hit a low point. The potato had a rotten spot in it. While I am but an amateur cook, even I know how to clean potatoes for cooking, including removing the bad spots. That marred an otherwise excellent meal. Stacie, our waitress, was abrupt at first, but seemed to become more friendly as our visit continued. Since this was our first visit, we had questions about some dishes. Upon asking about if the crab meat was canned for the crab cakes, she just stared at us as if what little answer she gave was acceptable. The wife spent considerable time in Maryland, so she abhors canned crab meat. Overall, the food was great, with the service needing some improvement. This is a small town diner where you can order really good steaks and still be wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The 12oz ribeye was cooked to perfection. But the baked potato had a large ROTTEN spot in it that should have been caught in the kitchen, and the broasted chicken was far too greasy to be edible. The young server was not overly friendly, but she was attentive and will someday be quite good. She just needs to fine tune her people skills and be ready for questions. Also, visitors here need to be aware that there is very, very little on the menu that works for people with gluten sensitivity. And ending on a positive note, the ladies restroom was clean. I had to maneuver the narrow hallway leading to it carefully, as the hallway was bustling with servers bringing food out. But again a positive is that the kitchen was wide open to see from the door to the restroom, and the kitchen looks very clean. Impressive and comforting. read more

Been years since I ate at the restaurant and it was delicious. Chicken fried steak was perfect. Small town hospitality.

We happened across this place looking for a steak dinner. We were happily surprised! The Office special steak was 8oz of deliciousness. The sides chosen were 1/2 c mashed potatoes with 1/4 c white gravy, small salad with blue cheese dressing, and a piece of pumpkin pie. I forgot the fresh loaf of bread!! We use to really love going here but the last few years it has slid downhill big time. Three visits in a row the food was cold and way overpriced. I always order a filet it cost $37 and was not good at all. The waitress was terrible not sure what happened but we will be going someplace else from now on. I do not like posting bad reviews but in this case I will. Out of a party of 5 not one of us we're happy with or meal. The one good thing is there frosty mugs were great. read more

Visiting Nebraska from Miami and we stopped at this little place for dinner since we had over an hour drive from the airport. Small place in small town but let me tell you how they surpassed my expectations. Great service and the food was amazing!!!! The sirloin steak was so flavorful and juicy, the loaded baked potatoes was so good! They add real bacon to it which makes all the difference. We wanted to try the southwest rolls but they were out, so we ordered the mussels instead and they give you a large portion, they come in a white wine garlic sauce with onions and seasoning that is so good and full of flavor. Definitely will be back to visit next time I'm in the area. read more

Took a little road trip from Lincoln to Hooper ("oo" like foot, not like moon) last weekend. What a great time, great atmosphere (small town informal but clean), great company/conversation, and great food. Had "Office Cut" steak was grilled and served medium as ordered, tender and juicy. Service was excellent and a wonderful time. Others had Prime Rib, excellent; Cowboy Burger, excellent; Chicken wings, excellent. Overall a great time. read more

Our dining experience was all around disappointing. We had a 7:00 PM reservation. We arrived a few minutes ahead of time and we were directed to wait in the lounge area. At 20 minutes past our reservation time, we were shown to our table. Our server was friendly. She promptly took our drink order,then our food order. She informed us that they were out of baked potatoes. My fiance ordered a filet cooked rare and I ordered the prime rib cooked medium rare. As I couldn't have a baked potato, I ordered my potatoes mashed. We also ordered deep fried mushrooms as an appetizer. The drinks were served right away. The salads were served swimming in dressing and arrived before the appetizer mushrooms. A few bites into our salads, the mushrooms were served complete with cheese sauce that appeared to be directly out of a can. The appetizer plates that we were given to use for them were made of Styrofoam. We finished as much as we wanted of the salads and mushrooms then waited. And waited, and waited. Our water glasses went dry. Still we waited. Finally, our server cam to our table to confirm our order and informed us that they were now out of mashed potatoes, but had baked ones again. I ordered the baked. So we waited, and waited, and waited. At last, the prime rib and steak were served. The prime rib was cooked as ordered, but cold. The au jus was so salty that it was overwhelming. The filet was cooked not rare, but medium well. I sent mine back to be replaced with a hot piece . The same piece I sent back was re-served to me. It had been microwaved and was over cooked and tough. That was the final dining insult. We spoke with the manager and expressed our concerns. She was polite and apologetic. She comped our meals. She invited us back, but I doubt that we will return. read more

The Office is one of the star attractions of Hooper, NE and people come from all over to eat there. It is in a historic old building which was actually two buildings so there is a lot of room. It also has basically a party room. Food is very good and is pretty standard fare, steaks, chicken, burgers, salads but all is good quality and service is efficient and friendly. This place usually is pretty full for a good reason. I particularly love the wings, but I have never had anything there I didn't like. Prices are varied so what ever your budget it will be fine! read more

I don't know if this place is still open cause I've been out of state for quite some time now, but I sure hope it is! People drive from a long way to eat here and for good reason. It's the best small town dining experience I've ever had. One of the best prime ribs you'll ever eat (I think it's only offered on weekends)! The executive sandwich is also one of my personal favorites. And the food is about 85% of what I love about this place. The people are the other 15%. If you're a regular, they know you by name and if you're not a regular, they treat you like you are anyway. Cool vintage atmosphere too. They actually have two bar areas, so it's a good place to grab a drink as well. I now live in Southern California where there is a plethora of restaurants, but I can honestly say this is one of my favorite restaurants I've been to anywhere. read more

We went here around 5:30pm on a Sunday only to be left for disappointment almost 2 hours later. We were sat immediately upon arrival. The bartender was friendly when I went to see what beers were on tap (many choices on tap, not only domestic, but some IPA, Local and a few others ) HOWEVER as the night went on after ordering a simple meal of 12 traditional wings, 1 kids mac n cheese and chicken alfredo, we were finally served well after 40 FORTY minutes wait time (only to be served cold food) then later to be told they had a party of 30 that night... I had asked if they had been aware the party was coming that evening for them to say they were aware prior to the evening... this was unacceptable from a management/ owner perspective to not have their ends covered; not only for the party but for general patrons. This was our first time going, driving 25 miles, just to be served cold food 40 minutes later than expected, on my kids' school night. We will reconsider returning, but only on a night where my kids won't come hungry in case the wait we experienced happen again. read more

My family had a horrible experience at this restaurant. We drove for over an hour just to eat here and were given options of what we could order, not the full menu, because our group was too big. A lot of people did not find anything in the options that satisfied them. The options were also deceiving, since when does something with the word sandwich in if not have bread? The guy giving us our options did not tell prices which you should always do when charging $26 for a tiny piece of steak! I know our family will never make that trip again. Very, very dissapointed!!! And they only received a star because I had to give something. read more
