This was my first time visiting Rookies. I was very pleasantly surprised to see a warm sports ambience and such welcoming bartenders. Drinks were poured nicely beer nice and cold. Unfortunately we had dinner prior so I'm looking forward to going back and try a few menu items so much to choose from. Meet some new friends and old friends. Had a chance to meet the owner Neil who gave me some great history of the bar. See you soon Neil! read more

Staff is friendly, usually not very busy. There's darts which is pretty fun! Food is pretty good for a bar and grill!

This place was remodeled a few years ago with new owners. It's a nice, friendly neighborhood bar. Great service, good crowds, food is really good bar food, sandwiches, burgers and fried cauliflower was great, beer is always cold. People are friendly here. Check it out soon before or after a ball game! read more

I have been a rookies fan for years. Especially since Niel and Jason took over. They've revamped the place AND the menu. Rookies has a ton of different items to order. It can get loud, especially during games. It's a great local business to support where they will remember your face for next time! Favorites: mini tacos, meat and cheese dip, sloppy Joe mac n cheese (surprise special) and MORE! Also, they can hold a few tables for special events. We had my best friend's engagement party there and they were GREAT read more

A solid sports bar and grill! Service has always been quick and polite and they have some great food! Their boneless wings are super meaty and huge -- a really big fan of them. Probably my favorite boneless wings in town. The fried pickles and onion rings are so good! You can tell they're made in house. The breading is just delicious. The ranch here is also pretty solid which makes everything that much better. Wish we would have stumbled into this place sooner! They have NFL Sunday ticket so a great place to watch a game. Lots of TVs throughout the bar. read more

Been going to this place for years. Pizza is a great new addition to the food menu. Service is better than any other sports bar in Omaha. Ambience is perfect for a sports bar. read more

This place feels like a small town bar in the city. The staff is absolutely amazing, very attentive. Upon walking in, the bartender asked my husband's name and introduced himself, later in the night the bartender came to the patio and lo and behold, asked asked him by name if we wanted a menu. The waitresses, 2 so far are just as attentive...amazing! Would give 20 stars if I could!!! read more

Husker game day at Rookies; awesome. Cold Coors Light with great service. Best fried pickles in Omaha. Had the Philly Fries for the first time today; new favorite menu item. Was going to post a photo but they looked too good to remember to get the camera out. read more

Came on a whim while I was staying in Omaha. This is definitely a neighborhood bar, but that's what makes it unique. Neil who is the owner, Will the bartender, and all the patrons were super friendly. Even to an outsider. First thing Neil did when I walked up to the bar was introduce himself because he didn't know/recognize me. Food was delicious. Got onion rings as my app and a mushroom Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was phenomenal. Bar is very clean, and they have plenty of pool Tables and dart boards if that's you're thing. Will be back my next time in Omaha. read more

First time visitor. These were the best onion rings I've ever eaten. So good. And the Philly was delish as well. But, the Onion rings...omg read more

My favorite place to go! Great food and great staff! The best boneless wings in town!

Love this bar and grill. Most of the food is made fresh to order and the drinks are reasonably priced. Love that they have free pool and lots of dart boards. The service was good, they had a few different waitresses that helped our table. The Ambiance is nice and the AC is flowing. Love the bar owners and the bartenders are great too! read more

One word says it all, AMAZING! Amazing food, especially the fried pickles. Amazing service! Amazing prices! I would add pics but the food was so delicious I couldn't stop eating to take any photos. Highly recommend! read more

The food, drinks, and service were outstanding. The owner even stopped by for a visit with our group.

Apparently Rookie's has been around awhile. I personally had no idea. Don't bother looking at anything online besides reviews written in the last year. A husband and wife team took over Rookies and has changed pretty much everything. It must be a good thing because the place was packed on a Wednesday night. I had a chance to speak to the husband who reported they don't use any frozen products and don't even have a freezer in the kitchen. Or a microwave! They hand slice the pickles for the fried pickle appetizer and hand pound pork tenderloin to order. It was clear the food is tasty by the amount of it coming out of the kitchen. The kitchen did get a little jammed up and my to go order took quite awhile, but this is not a deterrent to me returning. The husband and wife team were both handling pretty much all of the front of house duties and overall were doing a great job. Maybe someone was out or maybe they just did not expect such a crowd. The drinks were quick to come out. The fried pickles were delicious with their homemade ranch and spicy ranch. I got the taco basket with tots to go and it was great. Highly recommend checking out Rookies! read more

My new favorite place to go. Staff is always friendly, good food, and fun atmosphere. Can't go wrong with their pub chips.

Great staff and great food! Fun atmosphere to watch some sports or just hanging out with friends.

Good food!! And great service too! Very comfortable environment fun to watch a game or just meet up with friends.

Fabulous food. The beef is so fresh on the tacos and nachos. Tacos have tater tots - don't get better than that!

The owners and staff are very friendly and the food is good, but they have the absolute BEST Rueben I've had in years and their Monday chicken fried chicken special is the wife's favorite. It comes with two sides including grilled green beans which are delicious. read more

Really cool place. Didn't know it was there. Good enough food and service and cheap enough beer for me to forgive them for being a creighton bar. As others have said ignore any review from more than 5y ago read more

Fun place Food was good fries were awesome. Service was great. Will be going back soon

Always friendly. Always timely. Owners are very involved and greet customers. Very good customer service and Excellent food. Great place.

Went on a Saturday night. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend

Great place and the owners are very active and care about their customers. Love the atmosphere and will continue to come here for years!

New ownership since October 2021. This place has improved considerably. If you haven't been in since October 2021 you need to come back and check out the improved service, friendlier atmosphere, and much, much-improved food. I've been coming to this bar for 8 years and I'm delighted with how much it's improved. read more

A friend of mine recently had his 30th birthday party at Rookies. I'd never been here or heard of it before that. Based on the name, I figured it was a sports bar, but I think they need to change the name to Veterans or 30-day disabled list, because this place is not for people who are new to professional drinking. While the rest of the bars in Omaha continue to have lame drink specials like $5 pints of miller lite (I didn't know a pint was 12 oz, until I moved here), Rookies has good regular prices like $5 pitchers of beer all the time or $10 buckets. Plus, the drink specials really are special, and your behavior will be just as special by the end of the night. They have karaoke on Saturday nights, and it was good karaoke, not just some dude with every song by Neil Diamond plus today's freshest country hits either. I ate a taco bar that they had arranged for my buddy's birthday, which was excellent, but I'm not sure if that was on par with their usual fare or not. I intend to return in order to find out. read more

This place is not a sports bar as the name may suggest. It is a dive bar. It has a very limited selection of beer, and it feels like the place hasn't seen a remodeling since the early 80s. I rarely give a 1 star rating, but when they served me beer in a hot glass just out of the dish washer, well, that's unforgivable. The beer prices are inexpensive and it's never been busy the few times I have been there. read more

We had their Chicken Fried Chicken dinners Tuesday night. They were great. Staff was great and everyone kept there distance.

If I could give a negative star I would. Don't ever ask for a receipt or for doubt the amount of change you've received back. Whelan (bartender) will cuss you out. Called me a bunch of names and screamed at me for simply asking for a receipt...not good at all. read more

Rookies is a friendly neighborhood bar. Great drinks, good food, and some of the friendliest bartenders ever! And that includes Waylon! (Whelan? Who spells Waylon like that?). The current owners are the best and have put a lot of money and improvements into the place. read more

I've been coming to Rookies for a long time, and gotta say if you want the exceptional service, a good laugh, properly poured drinks, you gotta stop by when Alex is working. You cant go wrong! Would give way more stars if plausible! read more

By far my favorite bar in the area! Food is always quick and delicious! Drinks are cheap and strong! Thursday night is $1 beer night and you can't beat that! Oh and Sunday's is free pool all day!! The staff is always fun. Make sure to stop in and see Autumn ... Hands down my favorite bartender ever! read more

Drinks are cheap and the staff is super friendly. If you want a place to watch Sunday football and have it feel as close to being home on the couch as possible, it doesn't get much better. They don't serve food on Sundays, so I can't speak to the menu or the "nightlife", but the environment is laid back, regulars and staff are welcoming, and everyone pretty much gets their own tv. Ideal neighborhood sports bar. read more

I understand they have changed ownership within the last couple years. I can't speak to how it was before but my husband and I really liked this place. We went on a Tuesday night upon recommendation of their chicken fried chicken special. HUGE portion! The mashed potatoes and grilled green beans were so fresh and yummy. The breading was crisp, not greasy and I loved the gravy. Ate more than I should have (did I mention huge?). My husband got a hamburger which was also solid. The atmosphere was very relaxed and had a neighborhood feel. Live music on Tuesdays and no cover (at least not that night but I don't think any night). read more
