The best restaurant in Omaha. Hands down. Let's start with the architecture and interior design. One of the co-owners is an architect and it shows. On entering, I noticed the tiles on the floor. But once you get inside, you are astounded by the suspended wooden ceiling piece. Nothing else like it in Omaha. A signature detail. Worth every penny. The windows are perfect. We were on the west side. The shades can be lowered. They were lowered for a bit, but then raised. I appreciated the natural light so I could better enjoy my date's stunning beauty. She is a perfect combination of Southern charm, beauty and a razor keen intellect. The overall zeitgeist of the restaurant is that of a sophisticated NYC or West Coast restaurant. Great wine list with a superb collection of high quality wines that won't break the bank. The sommelier showed up, but we decided on an old favorite. Good to know that her knowledge was available. My charcoal chicken was fabulous; a very unique and flavorful taste. My date had the bolognese and she enjoyed it. She had the cheesecake and I had the chocolate cake. She had tea and I had coffee. It was an extremely memorable evening. My best first date in decades at Omaha's best restaurant. She was enchanting and delightful. Scrumptious food, great staff, kid friendly, and overall such a fancy vibe! Our waitress was so great with our daughter that I had to start my review with praising how fun she was! She played peek-a-boo and just emailed at her so often throughout our stay. Our daughter loved our waitress! The food was as delicious as it looks in the photos! I swear we ate the appetizer in less than a minute. I split the Filet Mignon so the portion is a half in the photo. Such a perfect size especially if you want to indulge in appetizers and dessert! We popped in for a lunch with a reservation (check out open table). The service was really not what it normally is. We sat for almost 20 minutes before having to ask for a waiter. The food was slow. Other tables were getting served right next to us. We are normally pretty quick to order and eat but this lunch turned into an hours long endeavor. The kale & farro salad was delicious!!!! The pesto pasta was okay but pretty small for the price. My husband really really enjoyed the risotto salad (Faroe Island Salmon). Overall not a place I plan to return. The restaurant was pretty dead when we went for lunch, but the service was super slow. It took a very long time to have our order taken, then even longer to get food. When I got my pasta, the temperature was pretty uneven, with really hot spots and really room temp/ cold spots. I'm kind of assuming it sat under a heat lamp or something for a while. We finished eating and our server was nowhere to be found for a pretty long time. Nobody came by for the traditional "how did everything come out", or at least not that I remember. After waiting what felt like an eternity for the sever to come back to get the check, I just went to the bar to pay. The food tasted good, so I guess just plan to spend a very long time there if you want to eat there. read more

Stellar girls brunch spot! I wish I remembered our servers name bc she was WONDERFUL! We had an extra seat at our table and were ready for her to JOIN US early on into our experience. Walked in here on a Thursday afternoon. Got seated at the bar. My server was a lovely lady who really took good care of me. She was also prepping the drinks for everyone. The atmosphere was cozy, clean, and classy. The interiors were beautiful; the lighting was nice. Charcoal grilled chicken was a big portion; very good for someone who is hungry. Stopped by memoir during a trip to Omaha on a solo dinner. You can tell when a restaurant takes care of you during a solo dinner that they are great!! I started with the yellowtail sashimi which was fresh and the perfect starter. My entree was the Pyro Cheeseburger and was a great size, had flavor and really satisfied my cravings!! My favorite part of the entire meal was the dessert. The Chocolate Torte was delicate, rich and overall amazing. The vibe of the restaurant was perfect for a date night, night with friends or just a solo dinner to pamper yourself. It was calm and cozy. Another great experience at Memoir but this time for brunch! I had the Memoir Benedict and it was delicious! I loved that they use their focaccia bread as the base, the smoked chili, and all the fresh and roasted vegetables made it perfect. When foodies break away from the group, and meet up with other foodie folks... good conversation and memories happen! Met up with about 9 other folks for our 4:30 reservation, and INDULGED. The ladies side of the table stuck to the appetizers (hence really only appetizer pictures!) where as the men's table, definitely stuck with the entrees (therefore, zero pics!). The ladies and I shared their Creamed Kale & Bacon Dip, a few California Rolls, their Potstickers, Foccacia and Whipped Ricotta, as well as their Tsunami Roll (very similar to Blue's Tidal Wave if you're familiar!), some Memoir Fries with a spicy jalepeno aioli, and their Beet Salad. Topped it off with their Corn Margarita, which was excellent - think sweet corn folks, sweet corn. That Filet Mignon, looked DELISH with a rare presentation. I "heard" their Salmon was excellent from the other end of the table. My hubs, had their Charcoal Chicken and said it was great! I love a moody, dark, and hustling restaurant and Memoir is JUST that! For a half beat I forgot I was in congested downtown Omaha, and transported to the windy city. When the GM learned there was a table of foodies, he quickly made his way over to check in and take the temp of how the food, drinks and atmosphere were which I appreciated and stopped often to make sure all was to our satisfaction. This is hands down our favorite restaurant. Every time we come in, the experience is incredible from start to finish. The food is consistently amazing, every dish we've tried has been perfectly prepared and never disappoints. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff. The entire team goes out of their way to provide genuine hospitality and top-notch service. Another great night at Memoir! We just love the vibe, the food, and the great service. Tonight we were seated by the window and it was dreamy to look out on all of the Christmas lights downtown. We got a few of the Happy Hour options to start (can't go wrong with any of the sushi choices!) and then split the Charcoal Chicken. I thought it would include Brussel sprouts but misunderstood that the Brussels were shredded and just a part of the sauce. When I told our waiter Craig that I was bummed we weren't getting full sized ones, he took care of us by bringing out a delicious bowl of them!! We were so surprised and happy! I've given Memoir several tries and I really want to like it. I've had the burger, kinda bland. I was there this week and got the flatiron steak. First with the good, the rice blend is very good and flavorful. The steak had good flavor but I was chewing on a roast. It was some of the toughest steak I have ever had out at a restaurant. I don't think the quality is there. For the price, not worth it. I like the environment and the decor. Lastly, had a lovely lady as the waitress, but service was very slow. Probably took at least 30 minutes to take our order and another hour for our dinner to come out. I've eaten here 3 times, I'm not sure why people rave about this place. Our party of 5 was $500 bill on a Tuesday, so a tame night. Not seeing the price match the experience. Sorry I must be a contrarian. read more

We have always enjoyed our visits to Memoir. The food is consistently really good and the wait staff is very attentive. The breakfast burrito is my brunch favorite. Memoir is a beautiful little hidden away spot in downtown Omaha that is a perfect place for Sunday brunch or a nice evening meal. There was a decent amount of seating in the restaurant and around the bar, with an open kitchen to watch them prepare your meal. The staff were extremely helpful when discussing the menu, and went over everything on the menu that could be made gluten free (which was most of the menu). They came around frequently to check on us and filled our champagne glasses for us, which was a nice touch. The frites were incredible and very crispy. The salad was good, but overall just ok for me. The flavors were all wonderful and fresh, and the vinaigrette helped balance the entire salad. I just was underwhelmed by it, and just felt one note to me. It may be because all the "fun" ingredients had to be taken off due to me having to make it gluten free. Another amazing brunch at Memoir! I got the breakfast sandwich for the first time, and this was a great meal, especially for the $12 price point! The hash brown was my favorite-- very crispy, and hot, despite eating at the end of my meal. The sandwich was good, although the sausage patty could've been bigger in my opinion. The flavor of the sauce was great, and the egg was cooked perfect perfectly for a runny yolk! We also enjoyed the fruits as a starter, and my friends loved the mimosa bottle that came with syrups to flavor on your own. This was a great experience! Visited Omaha for a few days and tried to walk in on a Tuesday and the wait was 45 mins so highly recommend a reservation. We made a reservation for the following day on a Wednesday, and our experience was top notch. We were seated in a cozy booth that had a view of the whole restaurant. Love the art deco aesthetic. The filet mignon and prime rib french dip were delicious. The berries and mint panna cotta was light and refreshing. I would skip on the grilled focaccia. Service was A+. We were dressed up for the opera and decided to go to Memoir to enjoy a fancy dinner. We made a reservation for 5pm and getting seated was no problem and pleasant. The waiter asked if we wanted anything other than water twice. We started with the Pork Potsickers. They were good. We then ordered our meals: Lumache Bolognese ($25) and Rigatoni Alla Vodka ($23) along with another starter - the Parmesan Potato Puffs. The waiter also said to my boyfriend after he ordered the Rigatoni Alla Vodka that he normally adds the chicken breast to it. After he politely declined and also thanked him, the waiter said, "I tried". Both pastas weren't overly salty (which is great) but there wasn't a ton of flavor to them either. We both felt the noodles were coated in too much oil. There was oil pooling at the bottom of my plate. The noodles were a bit gummy/chewy on the Bolognese dish. The portions of our entrees were on the smaller side - especially considering the price. My bolognese dish had not much meat in it. My boyfriend joked there's more meat in a can of Chef Boyardee than in my dish. The Parmesan Potato Puffs were fun and the aioli paired with it was really yummy. The atmosphere was neat. Closing out the year with a bang! This was a damn good dinner date. We started off with the grilled focaccia and potato puff! Biting into the potato puff was like biting into a cloud! The initial crisp gave way to a delicious cloud. That followed by the grilled focaccia with the pesto. It was the perfect start. The drinks were also quite enjoyable and I loved the glass as well! The Rigatoni alla Vodka with the prime flat iron was perfect! I don't not typically get pasta or steak when I eat out but it felt right. Oh was it enjoyable! The steak was perfectly salted and seared. The night was finished with the Berries and Cream. The meringue was my favorite part because it added additional texture that I absolutely enjoyed. We also tried the bread with beans/pesto dip which wasn't as good as the bread wasn't toasted/warm nor was the dip, and the flavors didn't go together well. I am so glad we made reservations beforehand because trying to eat here without a reservation seems like a surefire recipe for disappointment (or at least a long wait time). Even with the reservations, we had about a ~10 minute wait. The service after we were seated was excellent. Our server made sure we had everything we needed and helped us through the menu. I got the Moonwalk cocktail, which was good but didn't really blow me away. Our table got a couple of starters, but I only tried the vegan sushi - bito vegan maki. It had a little smoky flavor and it was very good, but I think you probably already have to like vegetarian sushi. For my main, I got the rigatoni alla vodka. It was also good, but not all that special. Despite it having Calabrian chili, I didn't really get a lot of spice (or flavor) in the dish. For dessert my husband and I shared the chocolate torte, which was excellent - no notes! I had the pleasure of being treated to Memoir for Mother's Day this year, and what a treat it was! First -- we had some of the best seats in the house. Some may disagree, but our seats ran perpendicular to the open kitchen. If ever you've slaved over making multiple orders of eggs (or steak) for your family, only to get them too runny, not runny enough or steaks overcooked, the skill and calm that emanated from that kitchen was a sight to behold. It was totally entertaining. Second, we had an amazing server in Daria. Positive, welcoming, helpful, solicitous but not overly so. She was great. We started with the Mimosa bottle service. The fresh squeezed oj was a delight, the Prosecco bubbly. We should've stopped there, but the description seemed to say it also came with strawberries, blueberries and elderflower, but that is not the case. It is extract/essence/elixir or something to that effect that comes in a dropper. We tried each separately, and none was a positive addition. Stick with the standard, which was good. We also had Doughnut Bites that were covered in cinnamon sugar and were pleasantly crunchy on the outside and light and delicious on the inside. It was a very generous portion! Main course for me, the standard two Sunnyside up, bacon, toast and some really awesome hash browns that initially look like a fifth cousin once removed from a McDs hashbrown, but are a treat from out of this world! The hashbrowns are preformed, but have a delightful golden crust on both sides and a yummy potatoey inside. The eggs seemed a little small, but whaddaya gonna do in this economy? Cooked just right though. The bacon, delicious flavor, one slice slightly over cooked so the fat takes on a burned flavor, but for the most part, quite good. The toast was a yummy multi-grain that actually was crispy toasted! It was delish with the runny egg. My partner in crime had the Chicken and Churros. The chicken breast was fried to perfection and the serving size quite large. The little churros on which it was served were nice, but not super. We also had a fruit plate with blackberries, cantaloupe, strawberries and pineapple -- all of which were delicious! The atmosphere at Memoir is quite high-end. I loved the dark wood, wondered a little about the magenta lighting strips in the ceiling, but overall felt I was treated like a queen in a very fancy establishment.
