I wrote this on my Facebook about my experience while traveling from California: Today I was at a super cute café and ordered breakfast. After a couple of minutes, I went back up to the counter and asked if they had already started making it, because I wanted to change my order. The kitchen was open, so I said to the cook, "Don't worry about it if you've already started. I know my indecision can impact people, and I don't want to be a problem." He looked at me and said, "No, it's totally fine. Would you like some veggies on the side?" "Yes, that would be amazing," I said, and walked back to my table... and burst into tears. It wasn't just what he said. It was the kind energy in his eyes. I felt someone who took pride in what he was making, and who genuinely wanted people to be happy. I found myself asking, why am I crying? Because in a world where so many people in power feel disconnected, where corporations can make us feel like numbers, being genuinely cared for in a small café reminded me how much I love humans. Most people have love in their hearts and are trying to share it in their own small ways. As the world cracks, these simple things are more meaningful than ever. read more

Had an awesome breakfast sandwich, there biscuits are hands down the best. I would have given 5 stars but also ordered the French toast sticks but after 35 minutes I couldn't wait any longer. I've been here 3 or 4 times and I'm always surprised that it's not more crowded. Always space to sit even though it's not a huge place. They have so many menu options, breakfast, lunch and specials. The Whole Bird is an absolute MUST as well as the breakfast sandwich on the biscuit. Their freshly made bread is perfection. I had the grilled eggplant sandwich which was INCREDIBLE. Kitchen Table is a bohemian style cafe in the heart of downtown Omaha. While it isn't the typical Midwest cafe, it is a relaxed, welcoming mom and pop eatery with hand crafted vegan friendly or more traditional diet fare. Big street facing windows, rustic wood and metal finishes, and lots of plants and lights make the atmosphere very homey and inviting. KT uses a fast casual order at the counter approach. Staff are friendly and tend to you after your order and receive your food. I enjoyed the meatloaf sandwich ($14.50) which comes with their unique side of seasoned popcorn. The sandwich includes meatloaf, cheese, sauce, and pickled vegetables. I think I would prefer traditional pickle chips but the was okay with pickled carrot slices. Regardless, it was a very tasty although messy to eat sandwich! It was served nice and hot, which revived me from the cold Omaha wind! The side of popcorn generally paired well with the sandwich, especially for texture to sprinkle on top of each bite. As constructive criticism, it would be better if the popcorn was more freshly popped and maybe consider changing up flavor of the seasoning on the popcorn. The house seasoning for the popcorn was very similar to the flavor of the sandwich. I think a more contrasting or complimentary seasoning flavor would have been better. read more

5 years later, not too much has changed from this quaint downtown eatery. It's a very cheese forward menu, and not my favorite cuisine types, but I was able to find a meal I liked. I got the pulled pork sandwich and hummus plate. It was good! It was a little wetter than I preferred, but I Did enjoy the kraut sauce. On my drive from Ohio back to Los Angeles, I stopped at several restaurants on the way and this was, by far, the best I don't normally eat grits. Never liked them as a kid. These were amazing. I was skeptical at first. The place looked a bit "granola," which in my experience, means bland. But I saw a couple brothas picking up to-go orders which put my mind at ease. I was excited to try Kitchen Table, but sadly I don't think I would go back. I think it was kind of expensive for what we got. I got the grilled cheese with tomato soup and my boyfriend got the wagyu beef hotdog sandwich. I felt like the grilled cheese was missing something and wish the soup was creamier. My boyfriend said the hotdog sandwich wasn't anything special. These both came with a side of seasoned popcorn. We weren't a fan of the popcorn and with that being the only side, I would've expected the meal to be a little less expensive. I got their house kombucha which was my favorite part of the meal. It was cute in the restaurant, I liked the vibe and the service was very nice! Overall, I wouldn't go back. I always take my sister out for lunch for her birthday, and this is where she wanted to go this year since she is eating healthy and they have a lot of good options. We got there after the lunch rush, placed our order at the counter, paid, and got a table. We got the deviled eggs as a "snack" or appetizer, and I ordered the all-day egg & cheese sandwich while my sis got some kind of a salad w/ beets and tofu. Maybe we were just really hungry but it seemed like we were waiting for a really long time. We thought perhaps they were hard boiling the eggs for the deviled eggs first? The eggs came out at the same time as our meals not in advance. My sister seemed to like her salad and I did enjoy my egg sandwich although it was a bit messy. It filled me up for the rest of the day. I did not care for the popcorn that came with it on the side. It tasted a bit stale and chewy and I didn't care for whatever the spices were. It was a really cute place in the heart of downtown. Our server was new (less than a week) but very friendly. I have always walk by this place and wanted to tried, and finally after a lot of times walking by I decided to give it a try. The space is bigger than I was expecting and it was nice to be able to see them cooking the food while we waited. The food was just alright, it felt greasy and it felt overpriced. I went with my son around 1:30 on a Saturday. I got the patty melt which, admittedly, I've probably had a hundred times. But, somehow, their implementation of simple ingredients is always excellent. For example, I don't normally like mustard. However, I had it on the patty melt because their flavor profiles are always on point. I had their meatloaf sandwich years ago and I don't like ketchup normally but it was amazing. Ever since then, I will always trust them. I digress. My son got the biscuit and jam and honey and a side of bacon. All of this seems pretty standard. However, each thing was truly excellent. Flaky biscuit with the perfect amount of softness and firmness. Wonderfully cooked and thick bacon. No notes. I also had the pineapple turmeric kombucha (it's on tap!!!!) which I almost didn't get but I'm glad I did because it was amazing: nicely (but not overly) sweet with a little earthiness. Last thing to notice, all of the workers are always working on your food diligently. It truly makes me feel like they live up to the reputation of "slow food fast". Side note: I finally got some Aksarben's to go yesterday and ate them for lunch today. Do not sleep on them! They come with house made kraut, ketchup, and mustard. They are truly excellent. Wow! Had the sofrito quinoa bowl here and it was out of this world. So happy to find a delicious healthy plant based option in the area that's not too rich like Thai or Indian food. Based on the menu, it looks like they have more sandwich and salad combinations, along with their free popcorn that they serve with most meals. Wow! The grits were hot and the veggies were perfectly roasted. The combo was a hit for my belly. It was also a great portion as I was only able to eat half. Very cute, quaint lunch spot. This place has actually been on my food list since I moved to Omaha 6 years ago but because of the distance and their hours I haven't been able to try it until now. Reminds me a little of Block 16 in a good way! Everyone was friendly and explained that you order up front and they bring it to you. The lunch menu was a little limited but I decided to order "The Whole Bird". Was cooked very well and tasted so fresh. The popcorn was a nice touch and surprise that comes with the meal. usually when i order from here and something is wrong or forgotten i leave it alone bc i love the food & get that it's a small staff but i just picked up another wrong order and their response was mildly annoying. their online menu clearly states the sandwich i got comes with a mug of chili & they didn't give me one, which is fine but they tried to claim it was a temporary special they did? if that's true update your website when the special is over... but i've been eyeing this dumb hotdog sandwich for months now LOL i don't think you'd leave a temporary special up for that long. i should've just stuck with grilled cheese & tomato smh but the mug of chili is literally what convinced me to try something new. hope it's better next time :( read more

Didn't catch the girls name working register but outstanding job. Friendly and explained perfectly a couple questions I had. She answered my tea questions I had and just a great experience ordering. Once you order, the food is delivered to your table. The owner Jessica brought my main entree to my table. Service was fast and perfect. Jessica was super nice and we had a short conversation. Customer service here is top notch. Thank you Jessica for making my 1st experience here pleasant and treated with great service. I ordered the Meatloaf sandwich - wagyu beef, cheddar,steak sauce, aioli, pickles, toasted levain. OMGosh, I'm probably the toughest meatloaf critic around due to this is my favorite dish... PERFECTION. Super delicious!!! The Kitchen Table can make Meatloaf. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this sandwich. The sandwich comes with popcorn with some special seasoning... this is great and unique.. way better than having fries. I also ordered a side salad which was also made to perfection. I love the food here! This satisfies all my sour & umami cravings. I got the tofu Reuben...and I know it looks really beige in the photo, but the flavor is what counts, and it was great. A really unique spin on Omaha's classic sandwich. The tofu was fantastic and unlike any I have ever had, and the sourdough bread was delicious. I really loved how the textures worked together, it was chewy in a good way (sometimes corned beef Reubens can be chewy but not in a good way). I'm not vegetarian but I often get meatless meals in restaurants because I think it's more challenging to make a tasty and satisfying meal without relying on the meat. Kitchen Table did a great job with this! The kombucha on tap was really good. And obviously I had to get the "Mixed Pickle Surprise". I loved everything here! The seasoned popcorn is a nice touch. The service was amazing. There were nine in our party and none of us had eaten here so it took a while to order but the person taking our order (at the counter) answered our questions and patiently waited for each of us to order. There was no one eating there when we first arrived around 9:15am but there was a wait by the time we left. There are not too many seats to dine in. I recommend the French toast that came with a nut butter syrup and some honey. The frittata with a side salad was so big that only half was eaten but maybe it was because the coffee cake that was also ordered was gone before the frittata came out. The chili tasted good and is also recommended. The meatloaf sandwich wasn't well liked. One said it tasted burnt and another said it was dry. The sweet potato and lentil sandwich was different. I don't think I'll get it again since I don't love lentils but I do recommend it if you like sweet potatoes and lentils. They do have a kids menu of grilled cheese and a few other items. One of the kids ordered a grilled cheese and the tomato soup from the regular menu but only the grilled cheese sandwich was brought out so I am not sure if the soup was missing or if he thought we wanted a kids grilled cheese (we mentioned we ordered the grilled cheese and soup so they brought out a cup of soup). Either way the soup and the sandwich were good. The vanilla creme soda and the White Elm Czech Pilsner were good that we almost asked for another to go. There was lots of street parking around when we left. We paid $2 for two hours of parking but one hour is probably enough. We interacted with several of the staff and they were all very pleasant. Whili in Omaha for a wedding we found this hole in the wall spot that appeared busy so we figure we would try it out. The staff from the get go is very friendly and will explain the menus and drinks to you. The menus were a bit confusing as there were several, it was hard to make a choice but I finally decided on the all day egg sandwich, on a soft bun with a fresh sliced tomato it was really good. The weird part was that it came with a side of seasoned popcorn. Popcorn was stale. My wife got the Pesto Plum Creek Farm Chicken Salad Sandwich, she loved it but again was not happy with the stale popcorn. We ordered two side items, 1st the Deviled Eggs which were made with what I believed to be a hint of mustard as they had that color and taste, it was different and good. We also got a side of Bacon Snack which lo and behold came mixed in with POPCORN....lol.....except this time it was actually the Bomb! The bits of squared cooked pig chunks actually went well with the seasoned popcorn, then again, Bacon makes everything better! Another unique thing about this place is that they have all different types of iced tea Kombucha flavors, including some on tap. Waitress even let us taste two different flavors before ordering. The was definitely some of the best Peach Kombucha I have ever tasted. If in town, give this unique place a try. read more

Delicious lunch to be had here. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. If I lived here, this would have a regular place in my lunch rotation. Plenty to satisfy vegetarian as well as carnivore. Food is fresh. We had zucchini jam sammie, chicken salad pesto sammie and a tofu pesto sammie that was a special. I have to say, the tofu was delicious. They also have deviled eggs that I noticed several people ordering so they must be a good thing here and some bowls and salads.
