I've read the negative reviews and can only say that I've had nothing but good experiences here. I thought the lobster bisque and clam chowder was very good. They carry White Allegash which has become my new favorite craft beer. It's a fun, friendly atmosphere to hang with a group or by yourself. The views are incredible. I got the lobster roll cold with mayo and it was PACKED with delicious lightly mayoed lobster. This place does NOT skimp you on lobster!! My date got a lobster grilled cheese which was also packed with tasty lob and oozing with cheese. Every bite had a cheese pull! Our fantastic bartender Ariel got us mocktails that were TO DIE FOR. We've tried many of them in Ogundquit and this is the best. Get the "colossal" roll and split it. Try the awesome clam chowder. Take a walk before you eat on the beautiful nearby beach (it's hard packed - no need to remove your shoes if you feel like it). read more

Two of these stars are for the view. The other is because I didn't get food poisoning. This was the most expensive meal I had during my stay in Maine and by far the most underwhelming. My dining guest called it "seafood McDonald's". We got lobster, fisherman's seafood platter, a salad, lobster bisque and the house punch. Everything was cooked, but it felt like a factory not a meal. There was no flavor, no love, no care to the food. Yes, the view is spectacular. The decor is cute and beachy. The waitstaff smiles a lot. I would not reccommend ordering take out from here. There are so many good places just up the street. Ordering over the phone was rough. When I first called they asked for me to call back because their kitchen was switching over. When I called back, I waited on hold for five minutes. This happened on a Wednesday at 4pm. There was no one waiting or a line outside but I ended up waiting for 30 minutes because they lost my order. Even after the wait, my order was still wrong as the only take out customer. Beautiful view right on the Ogunquit beach. The service was excellent and lunch was perfect. Had the Mussels which were delicious and great for bread dipping and the lobster roll. The lobster roll wasn't as big as others we've had but it was still tasty. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch with a beach view. Oh and the Blueberry beer was soooooo good and refreshing. read more

Paid $66 including tip for one beer, two cups of clam chowder, and a $30 "colossal" lobster roll that was supposed to have half a pound of lobster meat in it that might have had an ounce. We loved the view and the server was good. The food for seven people arrived over a period of 15 minutes. Half by of the party was done eating before the rest of the food arrived. The Seafood Ciopino had five mussels and one shrimp. And oddly corn on the cob in the broth. The fisherman's platter was tiny. One scallop. A piece of fish and a few clams. And fries. Some dishes were good. The manager tried her best to make up for it with free dessert and removed the cioppino cost. But truly not a good experience. Felt badly for the staff trying to make up for the kitchen. Also. They started cleaning while we were there and it just smelled overpoweringly of bleach and they were vacuuming by our table. The Beach Lobster House is very much worth the visit when in Ogunquit, ME. Just steps from the main beach, it has a great location overlooking the everchanging tidal Ogunquit River. The view is combined with a good menu selection. Standouts includes the the larger Lobster roll with a 1/2 pound of perfectly cooked Maine lobster on a wonderfully tasty bun. The fried foods are also excellent. Check the menu for more choices. During the busy months with staff shortages you may have to wait a bit and there are no reservations taken but just show up about 20 minutes before you want to be seated. For only being open for the 2nd day of the season, this place was first class at every level. The attentive manager kindly explained that it was only day 2 and that they were training a young staff. He asked for our patience and understanding. Still, the Glidden Point oysters and wine soon came to the table and both were excellent. Lobster roll and fish tacos were Grade A. The hostess, Mikaela, was friendly and helpful, and the entire staff showed remarkable grace in the face of a hungry crowd so early in the season. Additionally, a very rude customer and his wife, seated outside, were not pleased with the wait -- nor understanding of the manager's explanation. The man bullied the manager, hurled a vile racist insult at the hostess, and left in a huff yelling out to incoming customers that it was a terrible place. The manager and staff also handled this with grace (even as I had to be restrained from going after this troglodyte and setting him straight). The hit at the table were the scallops, cooked to perfection and full of bold flavors. The biggest disappointment was the lobster bisque. Lacked both flavor and lobster, just bland. The lobsters were a mixed bag as 2 were perfectly cooked and 2 were over cooked to the point thy were very chewy. We have been to Maine many many times so we know our lobster. They also have a brunch menu... which I had it was a lobster Benedict with tons of lobster nice cheese sauce . My husband got the clam chowder. He just would have liked that clam chowder to be a little thicker Maybe creamier and he also got the Caesar salad but croutons were a little too crunchy although they were homemade. Just enjoyed lunch at the Lobster House! The outdoor seating was shaded which is always a plus, service was friendly and provided help with choosing our meals. We got the Lobster Roll and the Wings! My wife loved the Lobster Roll. It was filled with huge pieces of claw meat, lightly dressed, and a nice bun. Easily the best Lobster Roll she has had! I had the wings which were crispy as advertised and still juicy on the inside. I got them plain with the Maple BBQ sauce and hot sauce on the side. The colossal lobster roll was amazing huge (my partner got it). I had scallops which were perfectly cooked. I rated this a four instead of five for 2 reasons: 1). We sat around 8 and felt like we were being rushed out around 915 2). The scallops were on top of a mound of fall butternut squash purée. This restaurant has the worst food in Ogunquit. I ordered The Colossal Lobster Roll. What a joke! It was served in a small bun half the size of a normal lobster roll! When it came to the table I was shocked. The lobster roll filled 1/8 of my plate and the rest had those cheap seasoned fried that all the cheap sub joints serve. $28 bucks for a plate of lousy French fries! The bartender was new. Forgot my coleslaw . Forgot the lemon I asked for. I rated this place a 1 for the food, but upgraded to a 2 only due to the location and the view. The ambience was cute. Easily the best lunch stops in our week's travels up and down the New England Coast! I was anticipating based upon review a lobster to go shack but what I found was a bright new eatery overlooking Ogunquit River. Overlooking the tides rushing in on the blustery we found ourselves alone at lunch in a beautiful location...perfect for lunch or a great dinner! I had the lobster bisque (excellent) the best I've ever tasted with lots of lobster chunks. I followed with the really large lobster roll. Beyond a doubt more in cost than several I'd seen elsewhere but I know what a one pound lobster produces in meat and I'm convinced this toasted buttery bun contained two pounds of excellent lobster containing plently of tail meat as well...again the best I had anywhere! The wife got the onion soup and it was in a league of it's own. She finished with a salad that she didn't say much about because she kept saying she wished she had gotten what I ordered. Highly recommend. It's worth the few extra $$ to receieve above average service, with above average food in a truly beautiful room with a view! read more

Probably the worst front of the house staff I have ever dealt with. Put my name on the waitlist and mentioned I'd be waiting at the bar, while waiting for an outdoor seat upstairs. I checked back in with the hostess after the allotted time had past (45 mins). She mentioned there were still no tables available outside. Fair enough, I mentioned that I'd continue to wait at the bar. Another 20-30 mins passed, so I went to check again: she had crossed out my name, and basically implied I was S.O.L. for getting a table. Another woman came over whom exclaimed she called for us multiple times. I reiterated that my wife and I had been waiting at the bar for over an hour, to which the woman chose to start an argument about with me, and the bartender had to vouch for us. It was an utter disaster. After all that, we were finally brought upstairs, only to find at least 15 tables vacant - no hyperbole, legit that many empty tables. Anyway, the mussels (especially the broth) and the oysters were absolutely delicious, which is the only thing saving them from a 1 star. The fried seafood options were "okay".
