Yes, their Ribeyes are dry-aged, but their NY Strip steak wasn't and it was $58. The steak was decent but if you're going to charge that, you better have A+ service and environment. We were seated indoors and their indoor seating is rather cramped for such an expensive price. Service was casual and not the most attentive. If I were you I'd skip it. It's a Saturday night you make a reservation. They call you to tell you you won't be served at the reservation time because they are closing early. You decide to arrive early. They ignore the reservation notes. You go to the bar and sit for 10 minutes ignored by he bartenders who don't want to serve you because they are closing early. There are 5 people in the whole place. Looking over the food menu.... It's all over the place. No consistent theme or scheme. The music was at a full lul. Our meal here was, to be generous, mediocre. We ordered wings that were soggy and grilled avocado that was essentially flavorless. They were dishes that leave you asking how they were ever allowed to leave the kitchen. It left us confused as to why the place was recommended. We are going to give it one more try to see if maybe we just got them on an off night. But don't wait 45 minutes for a table at this place -- it has not earned that type of commitment. The food was ok. I wanted to try this place for brunch because of all the good reviews but I realized I am not a fan of polenta. I ordered the brisket with polenta and it came with a sunny side up egg. I got fries for my side. It was my first time trying polenta and I wasn't a fan. The brisket didn't have much flavor. It was pretty salty. My friend got the mushroom quiche though and she really liked it. The service was excellent and the place is really cute. I made reservations for inside, but I got too cold and we moved outside to the patio which had misters. I initially didn't want to sit outside after reading the reviews about all the mosquitos. I saw they were setting up a private event outside which looked like a wedding reception. It looks like a really nice place to have an event. I wish I liked the food. She enjoyed her Ocotillo Breakfast but I enjoyed the avocado toast more than she did. She loved my mushroom campanelle. And she doesn't even like mushrooms. My mushroom campanelle stole the show. So grateful to have a warm comforting pasta dish for brunch on a cold Sunday morning and still get add two fried eggs to eat with on top. I was warm and cozy tucked into my mushroom campanelle. Peach Burrata Salad: very flavorful sauce with the fresh peach all mixed together with the burrata was a great combination. Lightly Smoked Beets: loved the ricotta from this dish so much!! I would order extra ricotta if that's possible! There were purple and golden beets. The honey and bee pollen was just simply perfect with the ricotta! Eggplant meatballs: wow I was so amazed how crispy the meatballs were! The polenta was perfect with the eggplant meatballs. Plus there was pesto in it which added great flavors. Squid Ink Pasta: the squid ink pasta was made super well!! Loved the pasta and the calamari in this dish. Bucatini Pasta: my favorite time of pasta is bucatini! The sauce was delicious. Lots of flavors and I thought it was a good amount of pasta! Very small kick of spicy. Prime Rib Eye: super buttery and just so perfectly cooked! We came on Sunday for brunch with some friends. Upon walking in, I felt like I was visiting a friend's home. The vibe is homey. This restaurant has so much outdoor space! It's sectioned off into different areas so you can have intimate gatherings or large gatherings. We went inside and we were seated tight away even though we were early. Our server greeted us promptly. She asked if we would like drinks. We ordered the mimosa bottle so we could all share. She remembered our orders without writing them down. So good. I got a picture of everyone's food except the fried chicken and pancake. This pancake was huge, and thick. Served on a flat iron skillet. It looked heavy. It was delicious. I think it was the best pancake I've ever had at a restaurant. It was not dry and it was not too dense. It was definitely cake like, but oh so good. My flautas were delicious. It's more than a restaurant that offers ever changing seasonal detailed menus of astonishing variety and detail. Ocotillo is also an event center so you can throw shindigs there. They also have an overflow parking lot for the events. I've enjoyed the food at Ocotillo for many years now. It's pretty normal for hem to offer a great variety of around twenty different plates to choose from of all different kinds of detailed plates for every appetite or taste. They smoke their own meats, they make their own pasta, They usually feature interesting and the finest produce of the season..... On my most recent visit for my main I had the roasted halibut with fiddlehead ferns, rancho gordo beans, green garlic, spring onions in a fino sherry sauce....The halibut (a non forgiving fish) was delicious and prepared to perfection. It really was a special dish that knocked my socks off. My husband really enjoyed everything he tried too. He started with the roasted duck leg, and for his main enjoyed the nettle pappardelle. I have had Ocotillo on my list for so long and I was so disappointed. I had a work colleague in from out of town and I said - "we have to go here it's close to your hotel and I've been wanting to try it!". Ordered the tagliatelle and the orichette- both were gummy, dry, and way overpriced. The dishes were lacking salt, texture and flavor. My squash and Brussels in the oricchete dish were so bland and mushy. My guest has to cut the pasta with a knife it was so stuck together. What was very strange- the dishes came out about 5 min after ordering-- A sign that all was premade which explains the mushy texture and overall bland food. I had such high hopes, but I'm sorry to say the flavors did not deliver at all. Read poor reviews on open table and didn't believe them, but seems like maybe I should have. I live in midtown and will choose to stick to Tesota and the valentine for amazing neighborhood food spots. This was not good and WAY overpriced. The outdoor space is pretty. My review for my dinner here is not good. First, we were seated next to their patio. People were constantly using the doors to come and go. Very distracting. Not as bad as being seated next to a restroom but close. Plus it was fairly cool outside so there was a reoccurring draft. Next our appetizer took an extremely long time to come to the table. After 45 minutes our waiter apologized and bought us a round of drinks on the house. After about an hour the roasted sweet potato made it to the table. I was concerned that our food was done long ago and was sitting under a hot lamp all this time. Before I can voice this concern, the waiter says he will now put our dinner order in. Great, I think. Well, no more than two minutes later he is back with our entrees. I haven't even tasted the appetizer yet and he is standing there with three plates of food. I complain and he gives a response that I didn't understand. I have to be honest and state that the appetizer was good. It was a delicious smoked sweet potato. The avocado on the plate was not ripe enough but overall I enjoyed it. The beef ribs, my entree, are another story. To me, they were too tough. And they were not served hot. Warm, yes, but not hot. I did like the fries and at least they were hot. The waiter took the appetizer off our bill for our patience. So, I had an overall lousy meal at this restaurant but the waiter did try to offset this and I'm taking this into account with my rating. read more

Ocotillo is pretty spacious with a huge beautiful shaded courtyard area next to the restaurant that has a beer garden (with a fire pit and private bar) and chef's ramada. These areas can be booked for private events. I love the architecture of this place and how is blends with the surrounding desert landscape. For cuisine, Ocotillo serves New American cuisine that includes items like grilled chicken, wood fired beef ribs, and house made pastas. Brunch here is a big thing and I enjoyed my fried egg with smoke brisket. They have fresh coconut to drink too! We enjoyed the ambiance of this place while eating our meal. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. My boyfriend and I were spending the day in Uptown Phoenix and just resorted to looking up "dinner places near me" and neither of us can pass up on pasta so we decided to try it out. Let me start off with the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was so beautiful!! If it wasn't summer we would've opted to sit outside because the large area for outdoor seating was beautiful. There were string lights wrapped around all of the trees and gave off a fairytale feel. The inside didn't disappoint either. Very stylish and modern. We were surprised to see that it was pretty empty. It was a weeknight but it was prime dinner time. It was slow enough that the bartender was our waiter in the section we were sat in. Not a problem, but an observation we both noticed. The food is why I am giving this place a 4/5 instead of 5/5. It wasn't bad, but maybe a little bland. The meal I ordered was the Tagliatelle, which was pretty decent. I loved the lemon flavor, but I felt like it was a little bland. My boyfriend had the Pappardelle and he had the same complaint, slightly bland. Both meals were decent, but maybe it was the price vs. taste that turned me off. Very tasty food we loved it. I only have two complaints. The hostess was super rude. She greeted us with can I help you? My husband and I looked at each other confused then she asked us if we had reservations and we said no. We got there right at 4 o'clock. She was going to sit us next to a couple and I requested to give us another table because my special-needs daughter likes to grab people in a friendly way but we didn't want to bother them. I asked her to give us another table and she looked kind of bothered, not friendly at all. The waitress was super nice her name is Christine. My second complaint my husband ordered the pasta and it was delicious but the portion was super small for the 32dollars. Our souvlaki, eggplant meatballs, veggie stuffed flautas were so incredible... dripping in unbelievable flavors...ugh you can't find food like this anywhere...except in Greece where I just came from and missed these flavors until I walked into Ocotillo! This lovely restaurant serves upscale entrees with an inviting casual but modern elevated elegance. The lounge area can get very loud and noisy but you're sitting in the bar area! Outdoor seating is available for dinner. I'm so happy to visit all my favorite restaurants when in my home town. For all of the newbies to my state welcome and enjoy all the wonderful chefs in the Valley (and yes there's plenty of them since we have top notch cooking schools and plenty of resorts and restaurants who need them). We came here for a work dinner. There was ~40 of us so it was a set menu. I ordered the Prime Rib Eye and because we were a larger party, they wouldn't customize the cook on it so I had to have it medium rare which is redder than I like my steak. I wish it was more cooked but the bone marrow was a great addition and along with the Bordelaise sauce , it helped up the flavor of the meat. My coworkers got the Halibut but were unhappy with it saying it was dry and quite hard on the outside. They have a great drink menu (I recommend the Firebreather) and the space itself is great. We had a girls night here and it was our first time visiting! The food was amazing, and our server was so nice. He was very attentive and helpful with recommendations. We shared the tuna tartare and bone marrow. The tuna was fresh and so creamy with the avocado (on the side because my friend is allergic). The bone marrow was decadent and had a kick from the chilis on top, which was perfect. For our entree, my friend and I shared the tagliatelle ragu and it was the perfect amount of spice. I am a huge fan of this place, especially with their happy hour deals! Everything on the menu is good, so the best way to do it is come before 6pm and share multiple plates. The smoked beets and Parmesan fries are classic choices. Their flautas were a hit with our table, even though I don't normally like flautas and my friend normally refuses to eat cilantro. The dishes are just that well balanced. Outside of the happy hour, I'd come back for another serving of the sweet corn pasta. Plant-based eaters, rejoice! While there are plenty of meat dishes, this place is great for vegetarians. With plentiful space outside, I'd also recommend it to bigger groups. Service is good, and their outdoor space is absolutely gorgeous. This place was so cute, if not a little romantic. I went with a friend and her husband and we had a nice large booth. Our waiter was very nice and we kept ordering things until we got full. You HAVE to get the Ratatouille Stuffed Squash Blossoms - they were so unique and delicious, I almost ordered another plate of them. We also loved the smoked beets which were very smoky, but the pairing with the herbed ricotta, baby arugula, local pecans, Arizona, honey and bee pollen was divine. We are from Indianapolis and we're visiting family in Phoenix last weekend. They took us here. We were blown away with the next level service provided from the beginning. We ordered 3 cocktails ( sorry don't remember what they were, but they were all citrusy) and the blueberry beer. All four drinks were very well balanced in terms of amount of alcohol yet not too much to overpower the drink. The blueberry beer was delicious. The server was extremely funny, friendly, and attentive, with excellent recommendations both on what is popular and what his preferences are. We recently went for Sunday Brunch, always busy at this restaurant due to the wonderful setting and it's above average food. Here's the breakdown: Food: 3.5/5. We ordered the chimichanga which was the star of the meal. Great flavor, good sized portion. Also had the sun dried strawberries with ricotta, basil etc. it was just ok. The noble bread that had been grilled had an odd flavor to it and strawberries were more like chewy gummies. Also had the ahi tuna. It was a but disappointing as well. There was nothing that really gave it any flavor. I asked for some soy sauce to enhance the dish. It was improved but not a hard me run. Featured brunch drinks were very affordable. Sangria needs an upgrade on the wine used. Would have preferred to pay more for better quality. And have had it contain some fruit for better overall drink. 3/5 Server was very nice but stretched pretty thin with indoor and patio guests to serve. 5/5 Ambiance - Note bar area seating for brunch is pretty loud. Prefer other seating areas. All in all, we will try Ocotillo again and order some other items and hopefully elevate our opinion of the restaurant. read more

I was so excited to give my son a great steak dinner...wow did this disappoint! While we orders filets we got chewy fatty steaks. We came for restaurant week and my son was so excited to try one of them for a great steak. I love spoiling my kids so I got the reservation and away we go. First course was ok. I had ahi which was fine but nothing to come back for. He got wings which were good but really hard to eat as they weren't wing but messy pieces of chicken. But hey, that was just the first round. Here comes what we came here for the filet. Now the ravioli it came with was quite good, the escargot was down but an odd choice that didn't add much. As I cut into it I was disappointed that it didn't have that lovely seat to it that I've had in other great restaurants, and as I keep cutting and cutting I could tell this wasn't going to go well. It was kinda fatty, wasn't tender at all and that first piece was chewy with very little flavor. I tried maybe two more bites, but after my son took his second bite which was so fatty he had to spit it out...I was over it. The waitress came by, asked how it was and when I said it wasn't great she just said oh sorry and moved on. The manager came by and asked and seemed more concerned but didn't fix it and felt comping dessert ($10 of $55) was enough. Since I'd never go back and wouldn't recommend, in fact would recommend not going, I have to give it the lowest score. Really disappointing. read more

Last week, I had a terrific cocktail, Spanish gin tonic, so pretty. For dinner I had the bucatini Americana pasta dish, spicy and good. Homemade pasta, yum. My friend had the sun choke ravioli with scallops, so elegant. She loved it. Last night, we made it to happy hour.
