OVERALL DREADFUL EXPERIENCE. This is 1 star only because 0 stars are not available. $59 for 2 people flushed down the toilet, especially when there are so many wonderful food options in St. George, UT. The main reason we went here was because so many people rated this buffet with 5 stars. They must have really low standards for eating or never go out to eat anywhere else. If you have a family with young children, they are going to be very unhappy. The children we saw at the buffet last night looked miserable. "American fanfare" options are not available here. This was the smallest buffet we have ever seen anywhere in the country. The food options are extremely limited. Every other option besides the sushi was pure nastiness. Some of the food was downright unedible. - Sushi was dry and tasteless. If you have never had sushi in your life, you will be able to digest it just fine. It's just not good sushi. We have had sushi at a lot of buffets where it was quite good. Not here. - Chicken was disgusting. It is really hard to ruin chicken. They did. - Both varieties of shrimp (peeled and unpeeled) were slimy and gross. - Any of their Chinese food (and they had quite a bit) was TERRIBLE. Very odd tastes and poor food preparation. - The fries had no taste and were not cooked well. - They had squid which was actually cooked properly but ruined by this awful, weird sauce that should never be paired with squid or octopus. - They do not have any "American fanfare" options like burgers, pizza, or pasta. This is the first buffet I have ever seen without pizza. That is a massive red flag for anyone who goes into a buffet and doesn't want Asian food. - The dessert options were what you would find at a bad school cafeteria, including those "chocolate square things" that have no name. It is a sad statement when the only good thing was the jello. This place should be shut down immediately. We would have been better off just lighting $59 on fire and finding some other way to have the explosive diarrhea aftermath. McDonald's would have been a superior option to this establishment. They had sushi rolls that actually contained sliced fish rather than just cream cheese, California rolls, or spicy tuna mix. For such a small place, they had a great selection of food with some decent ribs, amazing salt and pepper shrimp, okay clams, and a hot and sour soup with a nice kick. Service: 4/5 - friendly cashier but the waitresses cleaning tables were quite inconsistent. At one point there was 5 or 6 plates stacked before they cleared our table. Ambiance: 4/5 - the buffet set-up of the restaurant was a bit odd as there was fairly little space between the food lines and the sushi area was completely off in a different area. One of the Best Chinese buffets I've been to the real surprise were the crab legs they were nice size and the meat was firm and sweet. Fresh, raw, Oysters, snow crab, at least 4 different shrimp dishes.. the black pepper chicken is amazing! I wish the clams had a sauce or gravy but I guess you can always spoon on the sauce you want.. the dessert is pretty decent for a Chinese buffet. Usually it's just ice cream and some lame cookies, etc.. but this place has good lemon meringue pie! The banana cream dessert is good to top other desserts with! Don't forget about the sushi bar! I'm usually more generous with buffet style restaurants but this is deserved. Clams and mussels must be thoroughly washed and cleaned or they have sand and grit when cooked. The crab clusters are also dirty and the taste suffers because of it. Shrimp should be served hot or cold, not room temperature. The dessert section was a step up from the seafood, but nothing I would buy from a store. There are a couple dishes I didn't hate, but nothing I loved and a lot to avoid. My wife insisted on picking up a salad kit from the grocery store to get the taste out of her mouth. The sushi bar was a variety of California rolls with different toppings, a fried roll, and a roll with shrimp. Nothing beyond the 13$ sushi section at the grocery store. Due to COVID, you can't serve yourself so that's something new to learn. Upon entering, we were greeted so warmly by a masked hostess who seated us immediately. She took our order for drinks and said we were free to go to the buffet. When you go to the buffet for the warm Chinese food, they have plastic wrap around where you would stand to serve yourself so that the food won't get contaminated and an employee stood on the other side putting items that you want on a plate. There are also cold foods such as fruit, jello, pudding, etc behind the warm Chinese food line that you can request as well. There is also a separate buffet with sushi and a different employee serves you those items. The food was absolutely delicious and I went back for 5 plates. Yep, 5 plates!! The only thing I didn't like about being served is that my definition of little vs her definition of little were different. I usually get a little of everything to try but also to reduce waste. I would have only gotten a few noodles of lo mein to start, but she filled 1/4 of my plate. Been here two times previously in past couple of years & was ok both times. This time the only items that were acceptable was the sushi. The orange chicken was hot but had a terrible taste. All other entrees, from the shrimp to Teriyaki Chicken to Beef & Broccoli to Lo Mein & Potstickers were on the cold to barely warm levels. Didn't have more than two to three bites of anything. We spike with our waiter, another waiter & the supposed Mgr. She's aid to wait for fresh food to be brought out. We got there at 5:20p on Thurs., 9-19-24. The Pineapple was dry, inedible & disgusting as well as the Mandarin dessert. We left very unhappy & don't plan to ever return. That was a complete was of $47. This place looks fairly empty on a normal day but they do get most of their business from the tour groups that makes their stops here. The selection of food for the day was presentable. The food tasted good and they brought out new batches of food ever so often. My favorite was the fried shrimp. I wouldn't say the sushi was the best, more like average. The clams definitely should have more seasoning and flavor. I wouldn't say this is one of the best Chinese buffet out there, but it was decent and offered most things you see from a typical Chinese buffet. However, the restaurant is really clean though. From the tables to the floor, I noticed it was clean and almost no stains on the carpets. Shoutout to the girl who I think may be the owner because she did almost everything. She was pregnant yet she seated everyone when they came in, went around to collect the money, clean some areas, went to wrap sushi, scooped ice cream for the customers, and even had time to chat with a customer and her staff. Typical recipes, however very little was edible and left me with a stomach ache, I could not stomach any of the seafood as a seafood lover. I was traveling though St. George, and we wanted to try something different. The pictures looked okay so we rolled the dice. The food wasn't the greatest! First off. They only tell you the price for lunch and dinner when you go in on a sign. We had a 3 year old, and two 12 year olds. The price we saw was $19 for dinner. When we got the bill. It was over $110 for the five of us. That's because kids 12 and over are adults. They don't tell you that when they seat you. Our 3 year old was $7 and the drinks are $3 each. Even for the toddler. The lo mein was terrible and the noodles were huge and soggy. The chicken was over cooked, and the crab legs must have been the cheapest of the buying in bulk menu. The hot mustard was so runny that it dripped off the food like water. The desert area was nasty and no effort was put into putting it together. I will never be going back, and if I could do it again.
