First time trying this location, but Benja's is one of my favorite sushi and Thai places, I always stop in when visiting St. George. This time I tried the miso soup, which can come in this large bowl and be kept warm over fire, which was cool! Always love me so miso soup! We split the playboy roll and the pad Thai. Both were amazing!! The playboy roll was huge and a little hard to eat, but other than that the food was great. Good service and good food!

Server was nice and attentive. The ginger chicken and drunken noodles were lacking flavor, but the soup and crab rangoon were pretty good. Asked for a second side of sweet chili sauce and they charged $1.00. I feel that is extremely tacky for a restaurant to do that. Atmosphere needs updating (fresh paint) and cleaning. The dirt on the curtain rods were pretty bad. Won't go back.

Benja's came highly recommended to us, and it was absolutely lovely. The food was delicious and the service quick. My St. George fried rice was really good! The carrot ginger soup was also delicious. If I have a complaint, it's this: the server didn't share the soup of the day which came with our meals. We specifically had to ask about it as she was leaving our table to put the order in:

Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - Drunken Noodles with pork and Panang Curry with chicken. The noodles were stir-fried well without getting too oily. It's nice that it has a base flavor of basil other than soy sauce. The curry had a nice peanut flavor but was a bit too sweet. Quite generous on the serving size though! Service: 5/5 - friendly and patient while we debated what we wanted to get. Quoted us about 15 minutes for the food which was fairly accurate. Ambiance: n/a - ordered food to go. When you walk in, the store is fairly empty other than a large table where to-go orders are placed. If you turn to the left, that's where the seating area is. Value for price: 4/5 - decent food at reasonable price. Was just a bit confused about whether they wanted to be a sushi restaurant or a Thai place...

What a fantastic restaurant in St. George, probably one of the better Thai restaurant that I have ever been. The entire experience was good. The reservation was not possible due to extremely busy Saturday but the wait time was only thirty minutes. The turnover was extremely fast and the waitress was fantastic. She was very nice and quick. She gave us probably one of the best service with friendly smile and enthusiasm. Our foods were served all at the same time and had great ingredients with perfect seasoning and not too sweet. The Pad Si Ew and Drunken Noodles were my favorites, but Tom Yum soup as well as the beef fried rice and Asparagus dish had excellent sauce. I would definitely recommend this place for your Thai craving.

Very authentic and delicious. The staff were very nice. The 1/2 wait was worth it. When we are in St. George again we will be back !

There were 4 people behind the reception table and that's good because there were piles of people inside! We were afraid we won't get a table fast because there were probably 30 people waiting both in and out. The receptionist asked if we're ok with sushi bar. We said yes and we were seated in 3 minutes, way ahead of everybody! There are 2 sections: habachi and sushi. We were of course seated at the sushi area. Our server's name was Star and she was lovely, highly attentive and efficient. We ordered sushi and yakisoba and everything was fresh and tasty! I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back next time we're in St George!

The reason for the one star review is the quality of the food. The food was bland and lacking seasoning except for the soup which tasted like you were putting salt directly on your tongue. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the next morning I woke up with severe food poisoning, and spent the whole day stuck in my hotel room sick. We've called the restaurant, left a voicemail, and wrote in. We have not heard back. While we were initially excited to try this restaurant after driving by it for years, we will not be returning, and won't recommend this venue to anyone. They seem to have more focus on branding and being flashy, rather than proper food handling.

We drove in…read morefrom Vegas that morning for the day and we worked up quite the appetite after 9 miles of hiking. We were looking forward to some yummy hot food. My husband ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and I ordered the Garlic Chicken & broccoli. We shared an order of Rangoons. If I'm being perfectly honest the food was just ok IMO. I purposely ordered my dish with no sauce bc I don't care for my food to be swim in a sodium, sugar & oil mixture masking whatever flavor the protein & veggies present on their own. I actually WANT to taste them. I didn't expect my mind to be blown by my dish for that reason. I knew what I was getting & honestly my food was very good. The chicken breast was good quality, cooked nicely and cut into small bite sized pieces as was the broccoli. Just what I wanted. Now I DID want to splurge a bit which is why we got the fried stuff too. Now for the not so impressive part. The stuff that was supposed to blow my mind bc it was fried, came with sauce and lots of spice just fell flat. The Rangoons had very little flavor. They were even slightly under cooked it seemed. The corners were the only part that were crispy and the part closest to the middle was barely cooked. Not my fav. I like a very crispy rangoon. Maybe that's just my preference. I sampled my husband's pad Thai, also a bust. Hardly an spice or flavor. He ordered a 3 out of 5 and there was hardly any heat. Maybe my Vegas taste buds have been spoiled or maybe this is a different style of the Thai we're not used to. At any rate I'm only giving it 3 out of 5 stars based on the food itself. The restaurant was in an interesting looking built stone building & plaza and the interior was decorated with a pretty traditional Asian-Thai theme. This place was packed on a Sat night too! The locals must love it. There was a line of people waiting to be seated when we arrived. There are no complaints about the service. We called our order in for pick up. The man who took out order was polite and I believe he was the same host who was greeting people at the door. He was very busy but still gave great service with a smile. Again, this review is not a reflection of him. He was great. The food....just wasn't.

We told the man at the counter that we had never been there before and had some questions, which he didn't really answer. I'd never been to a poke restaurant (or shop) that didn't have the fish on display for customers to view before ordering - so it was natural that we'd have some questions. We also like to see if fish doesn't look fresh and avoid ordering those items, but we were unable to do so here. My husband and I each ordered a "1 choice" bowl, which was supposed to be served over a bed of hot rice and cabbage. When I asked for tap water, he said they don't have a tap. Really? Good thing we always carry water with us. Then, he asked us each if we wanted forks or chopsticks. He said we couldn't have both (without paying extra), and he looked at us funny when we requested chopsticks. The fish itself was fine, although there was no cabbage (it was just rice), and the portion of fish was small for the charge. One other thing that was odd about the experience. We were there for about a half hour, and while they had a steady stream of customers, I was the only woman. I don't think I've ever been in that situation before, and it felt really creepy. While that's probably not the restaurant's fault, I was so uncomfortable that I don't want to go back, and I especially wouldn't go back if I were alone.

There are places you go... and then there are places that feel like you've finally come home…read more The Painted Pony is the latter. We adore slipping away for lunch and settling onto the patio, where the world softens--shade drapes gently overhead, birds sing as if they've been hired just for the occasion, and time... well, time slows down enough to breathe. The service is nothing short of immaculate--attentive in that quiet, effortless way that makes you feel seen without ever being interrupted. And the food... oh, the food. The bacon-wrapped dates must have been crafted in heaven... or perhaps meant for the gods and somehow gifted to us. The tuna melt was so transcendent I found myself wondering if I had ever truly tasted tuna before... or if I had just been living a lesser version of the experience all along. And the beef bourguignon... my heavens. It was as if your grandmother--if she were also a five-star chef--had been waiting for you, simmering something rich and soulful to welcome you back after a long journey. Even the tea felt royal... and the mocktails were so delightful, so thoughtfully made, that not once did we miss the alcohol. The Painted Pony isn't just a meal... it's a return.

Tucked into the Tower Building, this New American restaurant nails the Southwestern-meets-fine-dining vibe: intimate indoor seating with contemporary regional art, fresh flowers, and soft lighting, plus a charming patio for when the weather cooperates. It feels romantic and relaxed without being stuffy--perfect for date night or a special occasion while visiting southern Utah.c91b9be2267e Service was attentive and friendly without hovering. Our server knew the menu well and made solid wine recommendations (they've got a nice list, and no-corkage Mondays are a nice touch if you BYO from a Utah store). Portions are generous for the price point--definitely not the tiny-plate nonsense you sometimes get at fine-dining spots. We started with the carrot jalapeño soup (bright, flavorful, and a nice kick) and the baked brie, which was rich and perfectly paired with the seasonal chutney and crostini. For mains, the bone-in pork chop and the hanger steak were highlights--well-cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor from the fresh ingredients and thoughtful sauces. The sides (mac & cheese and haricot verts) were solid too. We finished with the key lime pie, which was a bright, creamy winner. One note, though: pass on the crab cakes. They're a menu staple (around $16, served with something like pomegranate salsa or poblano aioli depending on the season), but ours were mostly filler with a noticeably fishy taste. Not worth the spot on the table when there are so many stronger starters and entrées.781e4d Overall, we'd happily return to The Painted Pony. It's one of the better fine-dining options in St. George--great atmosphere, strong service, and mostly excellent food at reasonable prices for what you get. Just skip the crab cakes and you'll have a winner of a meal. 4/5 stars. Recommended for visitors and locals alike. Reservations advised, especially on weekends.
