This was the best sushi we've had in 3 years, we're from California, and this was around, if not on par, with that level of quality. The restaurant looks high end and had decor to match that of modern Japan. It was fairly affordable total cost being 63 for two. Very clean and comfortable furniture. Their ramen was good as well. The guys working the sushi bar were great, everyone working was very helpful if we needed sauce and friendly. Was a bit chilly, but beats the heat outside. Gianna was our sever and she was absolutely amazing. Very kind, answered all of our questions and checked in frequently to make sure food was good or if we needed anything else, didn't rush and smiles all around. And on my green tea mochi! This is an amazing restaurant. The decor looks clean the food is great but the service left much to be desired, that's why we couldn't give it 5 stars. Let's talk about the food first. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen with kale noodles and it was really good. The Hawaiian garlic shrimp was super garlicky but we like that. If you don't like too much garlic this isn't for you. We had vegas roll and the bandito roll. Both were excellent. Other things we had is shrimp tempura, Edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad. It would have been nice to be greeted by the chefs upon walking in, but that's ok. Our waiter didn't come by our table until he was asked for or unless he was bringing food. Super friendly and cute servers, modern decor, but food was off. I can say for sure the owner is not Japanese or someone who's been trained properly. For appetizers we had gyoza and takoyaki balls. The gyoza came out steamed.... Which is not how gyozas should be cooked. Gyoza is always CRISPY and PANFRIED. If you steamed it, it's called dumplings. The takoyaki balls were also off. The batter was soggy and the octopus inside was teeny tiny. We ordered 6 rolls: the regal, vegetarian, black rock, The Monica, Vegas, and the salmon roll. The fish was fresh but the rice was wrong. They used some sort of sticky rice for the rolls instead of sushi rice. I've never felt so weird eating sushi. The vegetarian roll was spicy which was not mentioned on the menu. They also didn't provide wasabi and soy sauce until we asked for it. For mains we also had shoyu ramen and Korean BBQ short ribs. The Korean short ribs were good, but the bones were way more than the actual meat. The amount of bones should match the amount of meat. I wish this place was better, but using the wrong rice for a sushi place is just bad. read more

The host was not friendly and did not greet us, we were eventually sat at a booth and ordered the seared ahi and some drinks, the food was excellent but after placing our order, our server Kelly was not available. I spent 3 months in Japan, so I've had the chance to experience authentic Japanese sushi and I can confidently say this is by far the best sushi I've had in St. George. I know we all have different perspectives and tastes, and that's completely okay. But if you haven't tried authentic Japanese sushi, it's really not comparable. Most people are just comparing it to other places they've been to locally. That doesn't make anyone wrong it just means we're all judging based on different experiences. I love me a good roll of sushi and have had some amazing stuff, but that roll takes the cake. It is delectable! The restaurant is larger than it looks from the outside. It was clean and the service was quick. We ordered the soft shell crab appetizer, and three sushi rolls. Everything hit the spot and we were so relieved to have found a Sushi place here that checks off all the boxes. Score! My sister and I went to Kabuto last night, and had an awful dining experience. My sister ordered spicy garlic edamame for us to share, and two specialty rolls . I ordered what I thought to be an exotic Japanese dish called Katsu along with a shrimp tempura roll . The waiter brought my "Katsu" and shrimp roll only. The shrimp tempura roll was very fishy and I returned it . My Katsu was basically a pork cutlet over a bed of lettuce along with a bowl of rice . My sister did not get her rolls yet. After at least 10 minutes, she got only one of her rolls, a poke roll which was not very good. We did not yet get the Edamame. At this point, she told the waiter that she didn't want her second role, nor the Edamame, and we only wanted the check. Aside from the food being terrible, and stuff being forgotten, how can a restaurant bring only one party's dinner and not the other dinner for 10 minutes....and then only part of it? I've been coming to this sushi restaurant for about two years, and unfortunately, it's gone downhill. The new owners seem fine, but the staff is constantly changing, and every time I go, the rolls are made differently. This visit was the most disappointing so far the portions felt smaller, and for the first time, I actually left hungry. The recent interior revamp feels both light and dark at the same time, but not in a good way. The food itself was just okay nothing special, and I didn't leave feeling excited like I used to.
