Lobster macaroni and cheese was AMAZING. I took my one year old who is now obsessed with this dish. It was adorable. We ordered a lot of different food- including lobster roles, lobster grilled cheese, french onion soup, and clam chowder. All were good. The one dish I was really disappointed in was the corned beef and cabbage egg roles. They were awful- stay away! We sat outside on a hot day- they need some misters for sure. Service was meh. Whenever I return to the Bean I always head over to the Faneuil Hall area to meet co workers, get my pastries, and to do a little tourist stuff. Ned Devine's has been a place to have eaten at several times and each time was amazing. As we walked up someone from the staff insisted on taking our double stroller and put it away for us, usually I have to recon around to make that happen. Staff was very pleasant! Ned Devine's offers various burgers, sandwiches, and other entrees-- I usually get the Fish and Chips: 5 stars! I like the fact that it isn't heavily seasoned, the portion sizes are great, and it comes with plenty of fries. Check out my pic. Rude staff, came here for a live music event and walked into the main door. The door was locked and all of a sudden an older gentleman opens it and yells "can't you read the damn sign". Ok fine, so I use the other door. The guy checking IDs takes mine and gives it the hardest inspection I've ever seen. He maybe spent 2-3 minutes just eyeballing it. Strange considering I'm well above 21 and don't remotely resemble a child. The venue itself is nice, quality selection of seating and good open dance floor. They had live rock music and it wasn't a bad time. No complaints on the drinks and the bartenders were efficient. After a late Friday night that involved too many adult beverages, we headed toward Faniuel Hall for an early lunch, which in this case was also my breakfast. After scoping out the many food options we decided on Ned Devine's. First in the door as soon as they opened, we were seated in the upstairs dining area. I begged (literally!) the waitress to get me a cup of coffee and to 'just pour in some milk' and bring it to me ASAP. She did. It was wonderful. Now I can think. Sort of. Our waitress was so personable and fun. She took excellent care of us, checking in just often enough, and answered all our (sometimes silly) questions with a sense of humor and good customer service. We ordered a variety of dishes. The chicken salad is HUGE with so much going on in there it was too much to eat in one sitting. The steak sandwich is thicker than shaved steak and very filling. The fish portion in their fish and chips is very large. It was well cooked and the fries are crunchy outside, soft inside. I like there cokeslaw too, which for me is a definite plus. My dining companion who ordered chicken nuggets didn't talk much about his meal but tucked right in and devoured it, so I'm going to guess it was good. After being repeatedly cut off and jostled around the downtown and wings of shopping malls, we ducked into Ned Devine's to get some peace and quiet. We were here on a weekend at lunchtime, and it was surprisingly slow and pleasantly average on noise level. We were immediately seated with a table with a view, and set to the menu. We both sampled some beverages, I chose the Not Your Father's Root beer, an my husband opted for a hoppy local brew. We started with the Pretzel with Beer/Mustard Cheese, and I ordered a side of the curry sauce to try because I want all the sauces. This by far has been the best pretzel I have ever tasted. Buttery, toasty, chewy, and perfectly salty, this is what pretzels wish they could grow up to be. It will forever haunt my dreams, with its whole ground mustard and beer cheese dip, and crunchy salt sprinkled on top. This bliss was short lived, however, when we reached our main courses. At the encouragement of my husband, I tried the Lobster Grilled cheese, which sounded amazing, but had many horrible pieces of lobster shell within the meat, which made it so unappetizing. Also the avocado inside was overly ripe and metallic tasting, which is really gross. Darling Husband ordered the Fish and Chips, which was literally the size of an entire fish cut lengthwise, and didn't come with vinegar. WHAT?! This is a pub serving fish and chips, how is it possible to not automatically come with pub vinegar or lemons or something?! Crazy. When we notified the waitress of the shell problem in the sandwich, she actually said "Are you sure it's like, shell? And not sand?" As if this was going to be helpful in clarifying the crunchy non-edibles in my sandwich. How would sand in the 'witch make it somehow better than shell making its way in. Beyond me. This place is right in Faneuil Hall and has plenty of outdoor seating! Service was very slow, but we could have just been unlucky with timing. The Clam Chowder was my favorite thing on the menu so definitely ordered a bowl of it!! The Fish and Chips were much bigger than expected so I was happy about that -- you get a huge serving of the fish along with fries! We also ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with buffalo sauce. It's decent. The atmosphere is very nice and offers a great place to sit down rather than hang out in the market food court. However, I was not impressed with the service (but maybe that's because I'm a New Yorker)... I feel that it was slow. The clam chowder was delicious, can't argue that. However, I was disappointed in the lobster roll because it came on a piece of bread and not a roll... though the portion of lobster was very fair and was tasty. I got mine with mashed potatoes instead of fries and didn't find it was flavored much. For being St. Patrick's Day weekend I would've figured it would've been better staffed. From the moment I walked into the establishment the hostess was fraternizing with other people and completely ignored us as we asked repeatedly for a table to sit down and eat. She explain to us that it is first come first serve grab a table of her own and someone would eventually service. We waited for over 40 minutes and we never even received our menu. I had to ask for the manager because there was no one available to even take our order and we were treated with major attitude considering that we traveled to Boston from Miami and to have a good time. The shorter older lady who manages this place is just mean, and has a chip on her shoulder. Me and my buddies went out here a few weekends ago. A woman who I thought was a bouncer, turned out to be the manager, assaulted a buddy of mine. Punched him in the neck, yelling homophobic slurs at him. We came back last night to give it another go. We saw her again and that's how we found out she was a manager. Horrified. Didn't even recognize us as we walked by. Not shortly after that she starts yelling at another group of guys, she was out of control. I did email the company after my first review, they never reached back out. It seems like they never thought it was an important matter to get back to me. Maybe a yelp is more important than trip advisor. Some positives: The band was great, and the loud door guy downstairs is always hilarious. I think he said his name is Wade. He told us he had also served, and appreciated us. Great dude! read more

While visiting Boston, we were in search of the best chowdah, and lobster roll... and we were directed by YELP to Ned Devine's. First, it is really confusing to find. When you enter from the street to the Marketplace, which is rather disgusting in my opinion, the first floor of the Marketplace makes Ned's look like it is merely a really tiny bar... where's the food??? Look to the right (inside the bar), you have to know to take the stairs UP. Now, the upstairs is a huge dining area, and they even have an event space for live music and such. So, we get ourselves settled upstairs, and we order the clam chowder and we split a lobster roll. The chowder - it's a bit soupier than you (ok I) would have expected. According to the 'experts' this is how chowder actually should be. You can't stick your spoon in the center and have it stand up, OK? Flavor-wise, it was good, but could have used a bit more pepper in the original soup. Overall, I will say it was just a tad better than OK. The lobster roll - Everywhere else, the lobster roll comes...on a ROLL. Here the lobster is placed between two pieces of sliced bread and grilled, like a Panini. And, all I have to say about the lobster roll is "Flavor...what flavor???" Kinda non-existent. I would not be able to say that I was actually eating lobster. BUT, we left Boston knowing that we could tell our friends that we DID have chowder and a lobster roll... MEH I feel like YELPER let me down. read more

When we arrived they told us we would not be seated for roughly 45 minutes because of a pub crawl they were "not prepared for" then when one of our members of the party showed up a few minutes after the rest of us they wouldn't allow them into the restaurant until the pub crawl cleared out. The front door bouncer, taller guy, sent him to the back of the line behind the pub crawl regardless of the size of the line. Once he arrived at the front door was treated with much disrespect about him waiting to get in. Some of the worst hospitality I have experienced at a restaurant in my life. My experience here was surprisingly very good. Lots of outside seating right in the bustling Faneuil Hall. It was nice to enjoy a cold beverage outside, wait staff is nice, but the food is what sold me. Particularly their Lobster Tacos (might have been their specials' menu) I've never had it this way before. The hard shell of the taco was a Buttery Flaky Pastry instead of the tradition corn or flour tortilla. A great twist! Filed w/ample lobster! Can't say the same for their crab cakes. Having walk by it so many times which checking out Quincy Market, my family was taking my extended family around Boston and had to drop by the area. We were craving a beer and decided to stop by the Pub. I have never been upstairs so I was blown away that the seating upstairs was hidden so well by the hustle and bustle of Quincy Market. I can't say much about the place but it looks like it has a lot of different options for food and a decent selection for drinks and drafts. We had a pumpkin ale with a brown sugar and cinnamon rim from Shipyard and I have had better displays for that pint but nothing to complain much about. The waitress was friendly and able to help us in our search for a lobster roll.
