After a great day of sightseeing and shopping in Quincy Market, my girlfriend and I decided to try Ned Devine's an Irish pub. First of all not an Irish pub when you have no Irish beers on tap, except Guinness which every bar in America has,so very poor name to have. Then the food was absolutely awful. Chicken tenders which looked n tasted like frozen no name old chicken. And hummus which was full of some grease. Ended up sick all night. Would never return or suggest it to anyone. Poor. So many food stalls to choose from, but only a few offer good place to just hang out at the bar, watch some tv, and have a little bit more variety in the menu options. And every time I come here for a beer, it's never packed. I'm usually at the bar counter by myself. Plenty of beers on tap, and their corned beef sandwich is pretty decent. read more

We recently dined in one of their new outdoor igloos which was pretty fun. The only thing was the service was pretty awful. It took well over an hour to receive one round of drinks and even an appetizer. The appetizers came out cold (cheese on the nachos was hard as a rock). We ended up being there for about 3 hours and had just received our meal with a second round of drinks when a manager came out to let us know we were being kicked out for staying too long? It was just overall all horrible service and the manager was pretty rude. We were waiting a really long time and were frustrated and just when we finally received our meals we're told we need to leave. This place still gets 3 stars though because their wings are killer... even when they're cold (only reason they didn't get one lol)! read more

Not dog friendly!! Went to wagamamas next door and they were super friendly with our 5 pou d Pomeranian but they were about to close. We went next door to Neds and they basically said they couldn't serve us. Crazy me decides to still order take out! they took forever and it was very expensive. Walked around Faneuil Hall after seeing Quincy Market was closed. We should've kept walking, but we were so hungry we stopped at Ned Devine's. Awful choice. The food tasted bland, the staff took ages to check on us or bring our food out. The food was overpriced. As icing on top of the cake, something must not have been cooked right in my fish and chips, because I threw up the entire dinner on my way home. Then some more once I got home. Will never return again, unless I'm in the mood to get sick from the food I eat. read more

Eh.... I've never actually dined here but used to go on the weekends in college to drink. The lines were always long, the cover was like $15-$20 and the place was nothing special. There's a super bro-ey crowd and it's so packed that it can take forever to actually make your way up to a bartender. The drinks are also pretty overpriced. I got to Ned Devine's as they were the only place I could find serving after 8 PM in downtown Boston (not completely true, as the Italian north side was bustling - just not in the mood for Italian that night). I like the ambiance of the place. Not completely as old town as the Bell in Hand, but still has that old style feeling. Had to either sit outside or go up to the bar and I chose the bar, as it is nice to talk to bartenders while you eat and drink. The bartender was very helpful, but starting out I was the only person and it never really filled up. Not saying that is bad, just I did not see what a busy night looked like. Cozy spot overall. Small but decent selection of local and near local beers. As for the food, it is fairly average Irish bar fare. I have better. I had worse. This night I tried the steak tips, which were fine, but I wonder if trying one of my favorite staples, like fish and chips or Shepherd's Pie might have been a better choice. read more

Management contacted me and requested I remove the photo of the shot drinking employee. I am a reasonable person so I did. They also denied he was drinking. Well I saw their employee walk to bar and get a small shot size plastic cup, drink it quickly, suck on a lemon, and toss into the public trash barrel next to the host stand. He had a regular size cup of what appeared to be water with lemon that he drank from after each shot. If he was not drinking then what could he possibly be shooting from a shot size cup on 4 separate visits to the bar? Management needs to address the issue rather than deny. Had a wonderful afternoon at Ned Devine's out on the patio seating. Our server, Sophia was great, attentive and very sweet. Lunch was delicious, we split a caprese sandwich with grilled chicken, it was excellent and the fries were perfect. We stopped in to enjoy a lunch outdoors. Because the outdoor seating was empty, the host asked us to choose a table. The host told us we couldn't sit at the table we picked. The host became very rude, threw down our menus on the table, and then starting throwing out the "F" bombs. Hard to believe a restaurant like this would treat its customers in this manner. If you ever want to relive your trashy going-out nights from university, you need look no farther than Ned Devine's. It's been quite some time since I've been surrounded by throngs of barely-legal boys wearing variations on a theme of striped button-down shirts or drunk girls wearing dresses (or a kimono?!) that barely cover their asses. It gets better. A gin and tonic, served in a tiny flimsy plastic dixie cup will run you $7. That's assuming you can even navigate the hordes of desperate heteros to even sidle up to the bar. Forget trying to get your drinks back through that crowd without someone's elbow causing your beverage to slosh all over the place (where 'the place' is frequently 'yourself'). Ostensibly, you come here to get messy and go dancing to the live band (or DJ) in one of the huge rooms upstairs. If that's the plan, then it's no problem at all that the music blares at awe-inspiring and conversation-prohibiting decibels. Good thing alcohol and body language go a long way in a scene like this. Oh... and best of all? You get to pay $10 cover to a hostess with more attitude than a hangry drag queen. I'd know. I've met some in my time. read more

Imposter! Although it claims to be, Ned Devine's Pub is not Irish. I wouldn't even say it's very Bostonian, as it's located in the most touristy section of the city and most of the people I encountered were from out of town (lots of Central Mass for some reason. Maybe they had a special promotion in Nowheresville this week). These nocturnal newbies obviously just don't know where else to go on a Friday night in Boston. Trust me guys, there are so many better options. But it's LADIES NIGHT!! So my guuurls and I make sure to show before 10 to get in sans the $10 cover. The place is pretty sparse, so we head to the second level and get a table. The waitress brings menus, and none of the drinks have prices. Oh perfect. Do they assume people don't care or will be too drunk to notice? We ask how much the cocktails are, and her response is, "It's a range. From $9 to around $13." Well that helps a lot. The beers are all around $6, and they have a pretty standard selection of Sams and some other regulars. We're also feeling some noms and order up a quesadilla (very Irish, right?). It arrives promptly, with salsa and sour cream on the side, and is already cut into 4 large chunks filled with cheese, chicken, some veggies, and avocado. It tastes decent, and is good enough to share while you're drinking, but definitely overpriced for $12 ($3 per piece? Really?) and not really worth it. The $9 Dark & Stormy is the best bet for a cocktail in my opinion, as it's one of the cheaper options while still being strong and tasty. Initial drinks drunk and cheesy tortillas eaten, it's time to dance! Going toward the other room, we notice that for being "ladies night" there sure are a whole buncha guys here on the prowl. The band on stage is "New Jersey's hottest cover band" playing everything from 90's jams to current hits. They're actually pretty good! And the space is large enough that you can dance. There are multiple bars and the lighting gives it a much more clubby vibe than the other sections of the establishment. The falsity of the Irishness and lackluster menu items are somewhat redeemed by the fun beats, but this crowd just ain't my scene. And I would never pay cover just to get here and pay even more for overpriced drinks. It was nice to meet you, Ned, but I don't think I'll be hanging out with you again any time soon. I feel like people rate bars and clubs in this city based on some horrible event that took place, how they got kicked out, or how the music is crap. Well, any place can become a venue for a disastrous event when alcohol is involved so suck it up because it's not the venues fault you were too drunk and your sloppy ass couldn't get any girls to dance with you. Thus, do not blame the venue. Music here is surprisingly good and one of the only places (that is not a hole in the wall) that I know in Boston with regular live music. They manage to find pretty decent bands who play a nice mix of classics and modern hits. (Last week had both Blink 182 and b.o.b). And between sets there's a DJ to spit hot beats. Bartenders are chill. Last time I was there two of them were in a behind the bar war throwing ice and bottle caps and spraying water at each other. Bouncers are engaged and not complete dbags. I saw one guys taking some pics with people and others actually laughing and (sort of) dancing near the stage. Drinks are pricey and cover is $10. Worth it for a good location. Get there before 10:30 on Friday/Saturday or you ass will be in a very long line that can be rather brutal in the winter. read more

Whoever was manning the upstairs host booth tonight looked absolutely miserable. Kept getting shuffled around and met with rude staff personalities. First...The server circled a 25% tip on our check. When he looked at the check and saw a 22% tip, he became verbally and visibly irate.. He threatened to throw our food at us and we walked out to avoid further issue.. As we walked away, we noticed that he was chasing us. He confronted us and spit on my girlfriends father after we told him to please leave. He then attempted to punch him and the get in the face of my girlfriend who was trying to stop him. We walked back to the restaurant as he chased us and tried to speak to management who didn't care at all about the actions of the server. They actually looked at us like we were lying and waved us off. Would NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ENOJOY BEING SPIT ON and assaulted. I was down in Faneuil Hall so this place was right on the corner and sounded good. The plae was nice inside, staff was friendly and server polite as well. Can't complain there other than the ridiculous amount of steps to get upstairs! I went on a tuesday afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all, was seated immediately. I wouldn't say the food was bad. But it had zero flavor for most of it. I had the fish and chips, and had I not layered on the tartar sauce and vinegar, it would have tasted like nothing. No seasoning on the breading, nothing. It was super bland. The fries were good, but I can get good fries anywhere. If you need a quick bite the service was fast and friendly. But don't expect anything spectacular. read more

Stumbled upon Ned Divine's Pub at Faneuil Hall on a rainy Saturday night. My friends and I were looking for a place to eat and didn't quite make it to the North End like we intended. I didn't have high expectations for Ned Divine's - it looked like any other tourist spot found around Faneuil Hall. But I was pleasantly surprised by the food. We were seated right away, upstairs in the more "restaurant" area of the pub. The service was terribly slow, although they weren't overly crowded. I decided on the grilled cheese and tomato soup. My friends ordered the Steak and Bleu salad, the Irish Curry, and the Lobster Pot Pie. My grilled cheese and tomato soup was phenomenal! The Texas-style toast the grilled cheese was made with was thick and toasted to perfection. The soup was creamy and rich, perfect for dunking my grilled cheese in. It was the perfect meal and perfect combo for a rainy Saturday night. All of my friends loved their dishes as well. The Irish Curry smelled amazing and the lobster pot pie was massive. For the location and the price, Ned Divine's is a nice spot to meet for a simple bite to eat. Definitely need to work on their service though. read more

Ned Devine's is located in Boston's Fanueil Hall. The location didn't completely bother me, but it still gave off that vibe of a food stand in a mall; that personal but impersonal feeling. I came here with my boo on a summer's afternoon. I ordered a 2 to Tango cocktail (5 STARS!!!!*******) and we started off with the crab cakes. (I think that's where we should have stopped too, jk.) No but seriously the crab cakes were pretty good. The sauce flattered the crab patties, I just with that the appetizer wasn't $11! (See picture) But it was nicely designed on a beautiful rectangular plate. (I hope the green veggies were edible and not just decoration.) For my meal, I ordered the Reuben ($11--see picture) which came with "Bistro Fries" (more like shoestring french fries) and was, in my opinion, better than the sandwich itself. The Reuben's bread was more soggy than I could have coped, and the meat was fresh--too fresh. I'm use to my pastrami finely sliced/chopped, and just wasn't use to thick slices that Ned Devine prepared. My partner ordered the Shepherd's Pie ($14--see picture), which was better than my sandwich! It was made with lamb, and I almost never eat lamb, but truly enjoyed his meal! After taking a look at the pictures, I'm regretting the fact we sat downstairs, but alas the bar stools called our names... It was a warm Sunday afternoon in November and my friends and I just wanted to drink outside, but alas the restaurants had put away their outdoor seating and we found ourselves being drawn towards Irish pub experience. We all started with Bloody Mary's, served in a pint glass, $7.50 which were delectable. Quickly we followed our drink with another, burgers and sweet potato fries. Burgers ($12) Beers ($5.50) This place could have easily been way more overpriced for the location, and especially since this seemed to be the only restaurant inside Quincy Market serving liquor (as opposed to outside). Done and done. We came at around 2 or 3 pm on a weekday - this area is packed with not just tourists but also groups of kids on field trips! Thank goodness Ned's was not so chaotic. We eagerly waited for our bowl of award-winning chowder and it turned out to be everything we wanted and more. It was very smooth and creamy, with the perfect consistency (the article described it perfectly - "substantial without becoming heavy or gut-busting"). The clams were not overcooked, which is very important to me because I get very frustrated when it's 15 minutes later and I'm still gnawing away at the same clam. I stopped in here to get a bite to eat after hacking my way through an elbow-to-elbow crowd in Quincy Market. I was in no mood to stand with the slow moving mass of humanity outside the quick-service style eateries and I looked around for an escape. Ned Devine's was the first space with elbow room I spotted since entering the sweaty highway of people. I darted into the welcoming wood-paneled space, pulled up a chair, and ordered the chicken curry. It's not unusual to find chicken curry on the menu of an Irish pub. Curry is to Irish "pissheads," as they call them over there, what cold pizza is to hungover Americans. I fully expected the food to be decent and it was. The curry had a delicious turmeric look and flavor about it with a bunch of more subtle flavors going on. I couldn't quite identify them but they were great. There was a creamy consistency to the curry that helped it mix with the rice especially well. I tossed them both together until the rice was coated with the curry. The starches from the rice and the creaminess of the sauce made for a rich eating experience. There were slivers of chopped almond that provided a satisfying crunchy contrast to the richness. Best of all, there were pieces of tender white meat chicken that had a tandoori sear on them. I was amazed that the chicken had a more authentic flavor than any tikka or kebab I've tasted in Indian restaurants in Boston. A tandoori sear is not an ordinary sear. It has an earthy taste to it, as opposed to a grill char, and it adds a lot of flavor to the final product. Well done, Ned Devine's. You've achieved with one Indian dish what every Indian restaurant I've been to in Boston couldn't. My server was diligent and friendly and seemed pleased that I was enjoying the food. Great location!! Conveniently located in Quincy Market with copious amounts of shopping nearby. There is plenty of outdoor seating for those lovely spring days! I follow a strict gluten free diet so I had the nachos and the kale caprese salad. The nachos were delicious, the portion was massive, so you can definitely plan on sharing. Came here on a whim walking through Quincy market as a first timer in Boston. I came here looking for a good drink. I ordered the monster mule which was disappointing. I was hanging with my friends from NY, one who also ordered a monster mule. Sorry but I guess being from New York we expected a stronger mule. I was also disappointed that my mule was served in a tall glass and not in the traditional copper tin mug. This happened to be on the same day as the Yankees took first place after beating the Boston Red Sox (too bad it wasn't a home game at Fenway while visiting). As a yankee fan I took this as a sign to never order any type of mule again while in Boston! Great place to have outdoor drinks with your friends...I would suggest ordering wine or beer however. It was our first night in Boston. We were starving from traveling all day and this place was what we decided on amongst the many restaurants at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It seemed to have a good variety of menu items and wasn't overly expensive but not super cheap at the same time. When you walk in, you see a bar to your left . We were standing there a few minutes and then realized we had to walk upstairs to the hostess stand to be seated. The restaurant dining room is pretty spacious on the 2nd floor. There were a handful of diners spread out but definitely not packed since it was a Wed night. Our server was very friendly and took our drink orders. I have to remember that sweet tea isn't the norm in the Northeast. She ended up bringing sugar packets if I wanted to sweeten my tea. We started off with the warm pretzel appetizer which came with a hot cheddar cheese and ale dipping sauce. There were 6 huge pieces of pretzel which was more than enough to share and super yummy. I really should've paced myself because by the time my roasted haddock entrée came out, I was pretty full. The roasted haddock is topped with sautéed spinach, panko crumbs and a lemon wine sauce. On the side are generous helpings of market vegetables and mashed potatoes. The dish is very rich and in hindsight, I would have asked if they could leave the lemon wine sauce off. All of it together made the fish taste so heavy which didn't agree with my stomach. My husband ordered the fish and chips. He did mention that the breading was a little heavy halfway through his dish. The atmosphere can be fun for a big group. There are also several televisions throughout the dining area to watch the big game on tv. Our server was attentive and very pleasant. We went to Ned Devine's for st. Patrick's day and waited half an hour in line to get in. Then our friend had to use the restroom and she was told it was downstairs in the general Faneuil hall area so that's where she went. My friend and I went looking for her and, not even coming off the Ned Devine's staircase, we were told that we could not go back into the bar. We tried to explain ourselves but they would not let us go back in and the bouncers were very rude, on top of this. The food was also poor quality with bad seasoning. The drinks were watered down, small, and overpriced. Would not recommend this bar for the bad customer service and shit staff. read more
