A decent place to hang out in the Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall area. The food is decent though some elements could use some work. The Kitchen Sink Caesar Salad was flavorful, probably because they put these (ahem!) bacon bits in the salad. The dressing was a bit heavy, and the banana peppers didn't necessarily go with it. The clam chowder was excellent, nice consistency and rich clam flavor. The burger was a bit dry (perhaps should have gone with the medium rare) and could have been more flavorful. read more

This place is the definition of a tourist trap. We came here because supposedly they have award winning chowder. If the award is in comparison to Progresso, I agree. Otherwise, the only thing going for it was the abundance of clams. It's too thick and doesn't have any distinct flavor. Where's the pepper... where's the sherry? I also ordered the KFC ("Killer Fried" if I recall correctly) chicken sandwich. It was supposed to have a spicy slaw on top. It had no spice. The sandwich was incredibly mild in my opinion. It was also over cooked. The meat was tough. The fries were completely unseasoned. No salt, nothing. I looooove fries. They're almost always the first thing I finished. I left the majority of these on the plate. As for the staff, the 3 hostesses we encountered were friendly on our way in, as was our server. On the way out, not one person thanked us for dining with them, said goodbye, or any other pleasantry you typically hear upon leaving. For mains, my colleague enjoyed his fish & chips. A hefty portion of fried and more fried but it was tasty. I had the chicken BLT, a good sized chicken breast with LTO and bacon. Fries were good. I came here for some drinks only to beat the heat last summer. That AC felt real nice. And there is plenty of seating on that second floor. The tap list was average. Local brews and a lot of big names. I did not try any food. Nothing particularly stood out to separate Ned Devine's from any other pub. But hey that means no negatives either right? We dined at Ned Divines for lunch and I ordered lobster tacos. I had HIGH expectations. I was very disappointed. The shell was very hard and crumbled as soon as I took a bite. It tasted like they put the ingredients together but nothing flowed. There was avocado and some lettuce leaves but no sauce what so ever. If you are looking for an Irish Pub in Boston's North End, this is NOT the place to go. I went looking for Irish pub food and a pint of Guinness. The menu has NO Irish food on it and when I inquired of the gal behind the bar if the posted menu was all they had and that there's no Irish food on it, she says "well there's fish and chips." We had to stop by here while visiting Quincy Market since Ned Devine's is known to be a three-time Chowderfest champ. They do not have a minimum per person for dining in, which was appreciated since we had already made plans for dinner and only wanted to try their clam chowder. The chowder was full of clams and was just the right consistency (not too watery or too thick). I liked that it was dressed with fresh thyme and presented nicely in a porcelain bowl versus a paper tub. I enjoyed sitting in the patio area and being able to enjoy the chowder with the added bonus of fresh air and people-watching. If you are looking for a more comfortable and less-crowded dining experience, I would definitely recommend dining here versus the Quincy Market dining hall! The food is great great recommendations by the manager and senior staff. Unfortunately it being busy on Saint Patrick's day weekend weekend the pub crawls going on them being short staffed and short staffed and some of the staff that they had there was very dismissive unhelpful and and just quite frankly did not care about the patrons not knowing where to go to sit down to have a meal. Management did the best they could to remedy the situation once we brought it to their attention and asked to speasked to speak to them once we felt dismissed. We sat at a table for 45 minutes waiting for someone to come help us apparently we were supposed to order our meals at the bar and pick up the meals at the bar. This is just quite frankly unacceptable so we went to the front and asked a front hostess that indicated and directed us to the back part of the bar to choose a table 1st come 1st serve. Security guard at the main stairs was quite rude was quite rude when we tried to ask him For help as well he was quite dismissive and in a bad mood just pointed in another direction did not even give us a verbal response. That night the median patron height is about 6'2''. $15 cover to get in which I believe proceeds help Riverside boat club, in and of itself is a good thing. Other than that turns into a typical club with dj and dance floor at about 9pm. There are some TVs in there to huddle around if you care about the Sunday night football game. Only a few bar tender to the hundred of people there so tough to get a $10 IPA. Tap list is week with maybe 1/2 dozen craft options, all local (e.g Sam Adams) for about $7.50 a pop.
