After being extremely disappointed at the Boston Chowda, I decided to give Ned's Award winning clam chowder a shot. Checkout the picture I took, this soup lives up to the hype. Nice and creamy loaded with chunks of potatoes, great bold flavor. This bowl of clam chowder made the trip worth it because like others have said the FANEUIL HALL FOOD COURT IS A TOURIST TRAP. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, expecting much worst based on yelp reviews; but turned out to exceed expectations. After a long walk, we wanted a sit down restaurant rather than a grab & go from a place inside faneuil hall. We came for lunch and there was plenty of open spots. Service was nice and very quick, and the food wasn't bad at all. I ordered the fish & chips, which was actually just one very large piece of fish, but it was plentiful. Overall I'd say that the prices are a bit higher than they should be, but given the touristy location this ought to be expected. The food won't win a michelin star,but it isn't terrible and fills you up. I'd recommend swing by this place if you want to sit and eat. read more

This place has a cool atmosphere in the heart of the tourist area. The outdoor seating is nice in the summer. The food is American with an Irish twist. I would not necessarily liken it to an Irish Pub. It is more American with Guinness Onion Soup and Fish and Chips on the menu. They do not open until 12:00, literally 12:01 even though they had a line out front which tells me it is not run by business or hospitality majors. This place is the definition of a tourist trap. We came here because supposedly they have award winning chowder. If the award is in comparison to Progresso, I agree. Otherwise, the only thing going for it was the abundance of clams. It's too thick and doesn't have any distinct flavor. Where's the pepper... where's the sherry? I also ordered the KFC ("Killer Fried" if I recall correctly) chicken sandwich. It was supposed to have a spicy slaw on top. It had no spice. The sandwich was incredibly mild in my opinion. It was also over cooked. The meat was tough. The fries were completely unseasoned. No salt, nothing. I looooove fries. They're almost always the first thing I finished. I left the majority of these on the plate. As for the staff, the 3 hostesses we encountered were friendly on our way in, as was our server. On the way out, not one person thanked us for dining with them, said goodbye, or any other pleasantry you typically hear upon leaving. I chose the "Hall of Fame Chowder" which is apparently award winning. It was quite good, served hot with a good flavor, plenty of clams and I can see why it was a winner. For mains, my colleague enjoyed his fish & chips. A hefty portion of fried and more fried but it was tasty. I had the chicken BLT, a good sized chicken breast with LTO and bacon. Fries were good. I came here for some drinks only to beat the heat last summer. That AC felt real nice. And there is plenty of seating on that second floor. The tap list was average. Local brews and a lot of big names. I did not try any food. Nothing particularly stood out to separate Ned Devine's from any other pub. But hey that means no negatives either right? The menu has NO Irish food on it and when I inquired of the gal behind the bar if the posted menu was all they had and that there's no Irish food on it, she says "well there's fish and chips." We dined at Ned Divines for lunch and I ordered lobster tacos. I had HIGH expectations. I was very disappointed. The shell was very hard and crumbled as soon as I took a bite. It tasted like they put the ingredients together but nothing flowed. There was avocado and some lettuce leaves but no sauce what so ever. Individually the ingredients were good but the tacos as a dish lacked a lot. I'm adding additional photos of what others got as well: pizza, Mac n cheese, fish and fries. We had to stop by here while visiting Quincy Market since Ned Devine's is known to be a three-time Chowderfest champ. They do not have a minimum per person for dining in, which was appreciated since we had already made plans for dinner and only wanted to try their clam chowder. The chowder was full of clams and was just the right consistency (not too watery or too thick). I liked that it was dressed with fresh thyme and presented nicely in a porcelain bowl versus a paper tub. I enjoyed sitting in the patio area and being able to enjoy the chowder with the added bonus of fresh air and people-watching. If you are looking for a more comfortable and less-crowded dining experience, I would definitely recommend dining here versus the Quincy Market dining hall! The food is great great recommendations by the manager and senior staff. Unfortunately it being busy on Saint Patrick's day weekend weekend the pub crawls going on them being short staffed and short staffed and some of the staff that they had there was very dismissive unhelpful and and just quite frankly did not care about the patrons not knowing where to go to sit down to have a meal. Management did the best they could to remedy the situation once we brought it to their attention and asked to speasked to speak to them once we felt dismissed. We sat at a table for 45 minutes waiting for someone to come help us apparently we were supposed to order our meals at the bar and pick up the meals at the bar. This is just quite frankly unacceptable so we went to the front and asked a front hostess that indicated and directed us to the back part of the bar to choose a table 1st come 1st serve. Security guard at the main stairs was quite rude was quite rude when we tried to ask him For help as well he was quite dismissive and in a bad mood just pointed in another direction did not even give us a verbal response. Overall I give this place 3 stars because the food was good drinks were not overpriced and management tried their best to remedy the situation once we brought this to their attention and explained to them how thow distasteful this was. read more

Went for a drink & bite to eat on Sat 6th May. We waited 10 mins to get served, which was frustrating, but since we had a table we decide to eat. My wife's meal came (without any cutlery) 25 minutes before mine. When I made the point that we would have preferred to eat together, all we got was 'sorry'. The 'manager' who was sitting watching his staff run around like headless chickens, did nothing, except reject people coming in with food from other outlets & he actually cleared two tables after customers came in & walked straight out because of the state of the tables. To add insult to injury, my bill was $83 and the cheeky b****** has now added 10% service charge on Tues 9th May without my consent, since I signed the bill with no tip. That night the median patron height is about 6'2''. $15 cover to get in which I believe proceeds help Riverside boat club, in and of itself is a good thing. Other than that turns into a typical club with dj and dance floor at about 9pm. There are some TVs in there to huddle around if you care about the Sunday night football game. Only a few bar tender to the hundred of people there so tough to get a $10 IPA. Tap list is week with maybe 1/2 dozen craft options, all local (e.g Sam Adams) for about $7.50 a pop. I'm going to preface this review by saying, please save yourselves the effort and skip this place entirely!!! It's not worth an ounce of stomach space that can be reserved for much better, cheaper, and tastier places all located within a couple feet away from here. This place was one of our last stops on my Boston tour and boy were we disappointed. My friend described our experiences here as one of the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experiences he's ever had. We came in (party of 4) on a Tuesday afternoon hoping to order some food to go, but were quickly bustled in and given a seat upstairs. My friends and I figured, sure, why not. We would take a short break from walking and grab a seat while eating - this was our first mistake. After sitting down, we were greeted by a server who handed us a couple menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. I said water would be fine for all of us. He proceeded to ask us, "No drinks????" to which we responded, "No, just water". He also then went and pointed out, "You know, you guys don't have to wear masks inside right?!?" The way he said it made it sound like he was personally offended that we were wearing masks inside the restaurant. I said, "We know, but we just want to." He gave us a look and walked away. After a couple minutes he came back with our waters and asked us if we were ready to order. We went with a bowl of clam chowder (1/5) and a bowl of Guinness onion soup (3/5). (We were intending on trying out a couple other places in Faneuil Hall, so we just trying out the chowder here since I heard it was good). Our waiter seemed horrendously offended that we only wanted 2 soups and essentially convinced himself that we were going to order more food, so he left us at "I'll come back for your food orders then...". When he came back, we once again told him that we weren't interested in any other food and that we were saving room to try other foods elsewhere. He snappily said, "Say no more" and then walked away. Our two soups came out shortly after and neither were very good. The clam chowder was so salty that it was borderline inedible. Even the french onion soup, which is known to be a saltier soup generally, was less salty than the chowder here. The clams in the chowder were super tough and all in all the chowder just tasted like a saltier version of a Progresso clam chowder. The french onion soup had a nice deep/rich flavor to it, but nothing to write home about. We decided that we really didn't want anything more to do with our jaded and apathetic waiter, so we threw down a $20 bill on the table and walked out. He saw us leave, walked over to the table, grabbed the $20 and my friend asked if it was enough to cover the cost (we knew it was, but figured we'd ask in case). He nodded and essentially ogled at us all the way out the door. I honestly don't really know if this guy was just having a bad day or what, but the way we were treated was pretty uncalled for. There was no need call us out for wearing masks inside a restaurant during a pandemic. There was no need to judge us for not ordering drinks at a pub. There was no need to judge us for just ordering 2 soups to share between 4 people. He could have just kept his disgusted looks and snarky comments to himself. That combined with the fact the food was horrible earned itself a solid 0*s in my books.
