Been here a few times and mostly enjoyed all my visits. They are solid all around. Here is what we had yesterday. Haemil Pajeon (8/10) - I enjoyed this seafood pancake more than I expected. It could use a little more crispiness and crunch, the flavors were good and you can taste the shrimp and squid even though they appeared to be minimal. Soon Dae Guk - (8/10) One of my favorite Korean soups and the reason why we came. The soup felt under seasoned, though nothing a little salt can't fix. The blood sausage has a really good texture and not grimy at all. However, the sliced pork in the broth was just okay. Gamja Tang (8/10) - This spicy pork rib soup w/ potato was surprisingly good, though I would have preferred more veggies like the version at Geo Si Gi. I still quite enjoyed it and love the tender pork. Seolleong Tang (8.5/10) - This beef broth was the best item we had imho. Such a rich flavor from slow simmered beef. Plenty of noodles and maybe the best brisket I had in soup ever. The issue for me is that the server only gave us salt and didn't give us any scallions for this soup. In the past, I have ordered their Jokbal and Bossam, which were both excellent too. Next time I'll come try their Queen of Kalbi Soup. Looked amazing on the table next to us. Also, the restaurant doesn't give a ton of banchan, but the fish cake is my favorite version in all of NYC. One quick note, our server does do his job, but you can feel his annoyance at every one of our requests. Not like we were asking for anything special, just things like bowls for sharing and replacement of banchan that we finished. Hopefully it's just a bad day and service improves on my next visit.

Went forward with it mainly because I was violently craving seoullangtang. This soup hit the spot though! There was a hefty amount of brisket and noodles, while the broth was silky and rich with collagen. Salt and pepper are provided on the side to season to your liking. BOSSAM: Very tender and succulent pork belly! The meat fell right off as soon as I picked it up. They gave a generous serving for what it's worth. We couldn't even finish it between 3 people. They also provide a separate serving of kimchi (in addition to the kimchi banchan) to wrap the bossam in. SOONDAE: One of the best soondaes I've had in a while. These blood sausages were thick and packed with vermicelli and whatever else they add in the mixture. I was still thinking about this soondae the following week. HANGOVER SOUP: I didn't try this, but my boyfriend said you could hold off on this, because it was mainly bean sprouts. I love a one-stop shop that excels in all their dishes! Ordered the Gamjatang & Grilled Mackerel Set - $52.95 (for 2) The gamjatang is perfectly spiced - bold and warming without overwhelming heat (and trust me, my spice tolerance is low!). Instead of the usual red kimchi, they load it with long strips of green napa cabbage, cut right before your eyes before serving. Some bean sprouts, watercress on top, with tender potatoes, chewy rice cakes, and massive pork bones that fall right off - so meaty and flavorful. Served with a side of sweet mustard sauce. Pure comfort on a cold day. The grilled mackerel was enormous and incredibly plump - way bigger than expected! As an oily fish, it's rich and satisfying, but we barely made it through a third. If you're a mackerel fan like me, it's a must-order. . Banchan were simple and homey: nothing flashy, just solid classics. Signature Roasted Beef Bibimbap There was mozzarella cheese and it melted into the boiling hot pot making the whole bowl very cheesy. It tasted really good but it was so hot from the hot pot! I had to keep on blowing each portion from burning my tongue! It was a lot of food. The beef was a bit too fatty for me. The rice grains were very fat and big. I expected smaller grains. Beef Fried Rice It tasted and looked like steamed fried rice. Some parts of the rice were crunchy and hard from the hot pot bowl. The whole bowl had bits of beef, corns, carrots, and peas. It only had 2 pieces of broccoli and one tiny tomato sliced in half on the top of the fried rice. The presentation was pretty neat. The fried rice was not oily at all so it was very healthy. The bowl got a cute face with eyes made out of blueberries and Chex cereal as ears. The hair was made out of whipped cream. Very cute for kids. The waiters were very attentive and nice at taking my order. They kept passing by to refill our cups of water every time they saw the water becoming less. She sat better with it. I couldn't finish the beef fried rice and kids fried rice so I took them to go. The takeout bag was a thermo bag with Thaihee on it to keep the items warm. It was reusable so I loved the bag a lot. The bowls they used had Thaihee on them and couldn't be opened until you rip a tiny flip off the seal. Very sanitary and cool because you couldn't even open the lid off the bowl. I've never seen this technology from other restaurants before. It was over the top with the takeout bowls.
