Super empty on a weekday/friday night, went trick or treating with my niece and nephew and their kiddie friends and we were looking for a place nearby for food, decided to drop by since they were still open (closes at 9:20pm), there was only one other table with customers finishing their meal when we walked in. We got some soup and japchae and seafood pancakes to share, the beef bone soup was without salt so you'd have to add your own, there's a bowl of scallion too. Japchae was good and flavorful. Tofu soup was spicy but decent in flavor. Probably not my first choice in the area but ok for old ppl who can't have too much salt and needs to eat healthy. Lots of space and no crowd.

I got the A1 Sul Long Tong - the creamy beef soup which comes with some rice noodles inside and a side bowl of white rice. You salt to your taste at the table and they have a large bowl of scallions you can add in. It was the ultimate comfort food and the broth was so rich. They give a large plate of kimchi and pickled daikon which was sooo good - it wasn't too acidic and it was so fresh. I ended up getting a container to go - they do a small container for $6 and large for $10 which is so worth. The bolsom was both aesthetically appealing and tasted fantastic. It wasn't busy at all on a weeknight. Would recommend ! They have a parking lot in the back where the hmart is

The surrounding perimeters didn't attract many people at night, but the inside of this restaurant was bustling at night. Right away, the heat from the two large pots by the entrance will hit you, keeping the place nice and toasty. I had to try their signature Seolleongtang for myself. I should not have trusted myself with the DIY salt adding myself, as I added way too much! But from the initial sips, the soup felt just right especially on those cold days. Their seafood pancake was on the less crispy, more doughy side, but they do stuff it with seafood.

I've dined at this restaurant for over 10 years now ever since I moved to this neighborhood. Used to be open 24/7 but post pandemic its hours changed. This is a no frills solid Korean cuisine establishment specializing in ox tail soup. The soup is always boiling in a large cauldron, I've actually never seen it turned off lol. The soup is always top notch, milky white. You'll need to season it with the table salt, black pepper, and scallions (recently they've upgraded to a large bowl you can scoop as much into the soup as you'd like, used to be in a small plastic container). There's plenty of other delicious food but I mostly come for the soups and bibimbap. Side dish is very simple, they service some raw crunchy baby Napa cabbage you can season with the soybean paste and some homemade kimchi (cabbage and radish). Theres also always some pickled jalapeños. You can get refills of these. Food is always solid here. Many come with their friends and family. Decor is simple, more traditional looking with lots of wooden pillars.

I enjoyed this noodle spot very much. It was exactly what I needed on a cold night. Better still was that the restaurant was filled with Korean folks of all ages and that's always a great sign of authentic cuisine. No frills, not super trendy in decor, just simple wooden tables and white walls. Per all other Yelp reviews, it's a classic bone broth based noodle shop. They serve an excellent homemade kimchi as well. I must say, since I'm not one to always get to enjoy the heat, many kimchi's are usually too spicy for me to eat a lot. This one was mild but very enjoyable. In fact, I asked for seconds. (I've never done that!) First steps inside the restaurant from the parking lot entrance, you'd be greeted immediately by the servers and more importantly, your nose gets a whiff of that marvelous umami bone broth boiling in the ginormous pot. Smelled so good! Their bimbap and seafood pancake was really good too. Given my shrimp allergy though, I had to be extra careful when eating the pancakes. I picked out the shrimp without issue. The pancake was more dough-like than I normally prefer. But flavor wise, it was good. Table service was great and salt is provided for you to flavor your bone broth further, as it comes under seasoned on purpose. Menu says "salt to taste" literally, everywhere. So I tried the broth without salt and then I slowly added it in each bite to ensure I didn't over or under. Solid spot. Can't wait to return.

This is honestly worth the trek if you're traveling from downtown Flushing. Prices are a little pricier than I expected but it's all so good and hearty. The must is obviously the ga hwa sui long tong but you can't go wrong with any. The people there were also so nice, gave recommendations and everything, with the food coming out quick. There's very few food out there I would go to on a cold winter night, but this is work the walk (or bus ride) too. Also there is an HMart right there to browse afterwards

AN ABSOLUTE HIDDEN GEM!! Gahwa is definitely a sparkling hidden gem here in Flushing, offering both authentic, top quality food with great service! I came here in a group of four and we shared 2 sul long tangs, a Japchae, and pa jun. The food portion sizes are really good, the pancake was huge, buttery, stuffed with seafood and crispy on the exterior. The japchae was packed with flavor, noodles were perfectly cooked and glistening. The soup was creamy, comforting and had so much depth. And definitely the best kimchi I've had in a while. The rice with soup combo has me turning at night. The interior of the restaurant felt really comforting and cozy, warm and inviting. But to tell you the truth the food was so good, I didn't pay any attention to anything else around me. While I've read mixed reviews about the service, my personal experience was pleasant. The staff I felt was extremely attentive to our needs, filled our teas, kimchi and were overall very welcoming! This was actually my first time trying sul long tang and it was a great experience. The broth especially was so creamy yet savory, the aftertaste was so comforting and while we only ordered 3 dishes here, it feels like you can't go wrong ordering any dish here. I have nothing but high praises for this restaurant and I'm excited to be back! TLDR; Amazing food, cozy interior, good service, decently priced, good portion sizes

Casual Korean spot I found on tiktok for their bone soup. It was pretty empty when we arrived, we were seated immediately and service was quick. We ordered two bone soups (A1, A2) and another soup (A9) as well as seafood pancake. The soups came unseasoned and you have to season yourself with salt and pepper. They also provide green onions and cabbage to put into your soup. I liked how light the soup was but still it was very white and creamy from the ox bone. A9 (I forgot the name) was very flavorful and delicious if you're feeling something less light. The seafood pancake was pretty standard to mediocre, nothing special. I wish it was more crispy. The part we didn't like much was the lack of side dishes. There was also one dish of kimchi which was delicious but we would've liked more variety. But hey, it's more of a no frills place. I heard the bibimbap is pretty good so that's worth a try.

Wow what a great spot. It's a hit of a walk from the subway but well worth it. It's right next to the H Mart so make sure to grab some treats before hand. We got there early at 545 on a saturday night and we were glad that we did. It fills up fast with locals. We are so glad we came with someone who knows their Korean food (thanks Calvin!) It's a pretty big place. One story with lots of tables and an efficient staff. But the real delight is the food. The Modum Bossom was really a treat. I've never had the pork belly boiled with the pickled cabbage and other things is a real marvel. It's supposed to be homemade Korean and it sure is not the normal. Korean-American fare that's for sure and that's a good thing. But the Moksai Bossom (pork neck) is even more tender and delicious. So make sure to give that a try as well. The kimchi is also great and the bindaetoek (pancake with mung, pork and vegetables) was a marvel crisp and light. The really amazing final finish was the seolleongtang. This is a bone soup they cook for literally days in huge cauldrons. It's delicious. You need to add some salt and onions and it is delicious with noodles and such great flavor. You really have to try it. So definitely worth the trip out to flushing. Enjoy!

Ox Bone Soup with Rice & Noodles

This is the place you go to for food and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you're at home. The service was quick, and the staff was very warm and friendly. I was craving clean food, and my boyfriend brought me here for the ox bone soup. I love how the ox bone soup came with scallions on the side, so you can add as much as you want. (I dumped all the scallions in.) You can add as much salt and pepper as you desire as well. My boyfriend also asked for red pepper paste, since I wanted a little bit of spice, which the staff very kindly brought us. Of course, the flavor was absolutely amazing. The soup came with a good portion of meat. I would say I wish the soup came with more rice noodles as well, but with the bowl of rice of the side, do I really wish for more carbs? Eaten with the bossam, it makes you feel like you've had a well-balanced, healthy meal. The meat was perfect, and the kimchi and everything else paired with it created the perfect mix of flavors. It was my first time trying ox bone soup and bossam, and I can picture myself craving these dishes after a night out drinking or after I ever have too much fast food. The food was so good, my mind went blank with contentment. P.S. You also get complimentary warm tea and side dishes.

Food: 5/5 One of my favorite spots for seolleong tang in flushing! Can't go wrong with the ox horn soup and the modum bossam (boiled pork belly). Very authentic. Service: 4/5 Typical service - nothing bad but nothing extraordinary. Casual dining. Ambiance: 5/5 You can tell this place has a history. Feels like you're at a restaurant in Korea!

The food is good quality and comes out quickly. The workers are nice. It feels like you're walking into a traditional Korean home when you're there. The LA kalbi is the most flavorful item but the meat combos are also great choices. Parking in the rear.

This is where you go to put the Soul in Korean soul food! It's so cozy and delicious. You can bring your family here and all eat together. the banchon is fresh and they give a lot and can always give more if you want. the service is so polite and kind i really like it here. they're very nice to newbies at the restaurant and help out with the menu. i can't wait to go back here! this is my go-to korean spot whenever i'm in the area A+ great food !! yummy kimchi

The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I'd come back to try their other food options in the future!

I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. The inside is casual,…read moreand our waitress, Jane, was extremely friendly and helpful from refilling banchan to cooking meats and otherwise. A couple of us shared a $13 bottle of the green grape flavor of Chum Churum, a soju. In terms of banchan, there was a bunch. Everyone got a cold and refreshing cabbage soup as well as a very tasty version of Braised Tofu/Dubu-jorim/두부조림. Once we ordered, we also got a bunch of other banchan, including cabbage, radish, and cucumber Kimchi, broccoli and cauliflower Namul, Marinated Mushrooms/Beoseot Bokkeum/버섯볶음, Anchovies With Peanuts/Myeolchi Bokkeum/멸치볶음, and Potato/Gamja Salad/감자샐러드. One of the other things brought out was a pretty tasty version of Raw Soy Sauce Marinated Crab/Ganjang-Gejang/간장게장. Most of these were refillable. The first actual thing that arrived was something that I can't eat, the $22.99 Seafood Pancake/Haemul Pajeon/해물파전. I have a cephalopod allergy, or in other words, anything with tentacles, so I avoid squid and octopus, and seafood pancakes always contain one of those two. Everyone else enjoyed it, though. The pajeon I could eat was the Kimchi Jeon/김치전 for a dollar less. It was pretty tasty, though I prefer other spots that had a bit more of a crisp. Next was one of their signatures, the grilled duck. Going from online reviews, we went with the non-spicy version, as people prefer it, as the spicier marinade overpowers the duck. This was the $29.99 Sang Ori Gui/생오리구이. The sliced duck was on a hot, sizzling plate, with there also being a lot of grilled onions and scallions. The duck had a mix of pieces, ranging from fatty to less so, and had a nice mix of textures. This was easily one of my favorites, though I liked it even more when paired with the ssamjang that arrived with the BBQ, as the sauce balanced the light fattiness. Arriving at a similar time was the last thing I couldn't eat, the Spicy Stir-Fried Baby Octopus on Iron Plate/Jjukkumi Cheolpan Bokkeu/철판쭈꾸비볶음, for $30.99. I couldn't try the octopus, but the portion was plentiful, and I had a bit of the noodles on the bottom after making sure there were no tentacles, as well as trying the sauce. The sauce was tasty, spicy, and very flavorful. We went with two of the Korean BBQ meats, one beef and one pork. My preference of the two was surprisingly the $49.99 Charcoal Grilled Marinated Beef Ribs/Yangnyeom Galbi/양념갈비. This also came with two veggies: kabocha squash and asparagus. The beef was extremely tender, had the perfect mix of fat and meat, and had only a light sweetness from the marinade. This was absolutely delicious and very much worth the price point. Also tasty was the Grilled Pork Belly/Samgyeopsal/삼겹살, for $36.95. This also came with a few things, including cabbage and a large mushroom. The pork belly was delicious, being just fatty enough and very tender as well, with a mild chew. The BBQ came with a few extra side dishes. This included a tasty steamed egg/Gyeran-jjim/계란찜, greens, an onion salad, ssamjang, salt, and a small boiling pot of soybean stew/doenjang jjigae. They were all tasty, though nothing particularly notable outside of the portions being generous. Also, at the end of the meal, they gave us some sujeonggwa. Not much for me to complain about this place. The food was very tasty overall, and the service was wonderful. I would go back and order a full beef BBQ set.
